Obviously it's coming home. Goes without saying. Get that out the way first.

But I am absolutely bricking it over tomorrow. The fact that the draw has opened up kindly for us hasn't helped. It impossible not to start looking ahead which you know is a bad idea. I'm sure the team is just focused on Colombia. If we win that though I could easily see a swing in confidence. Ending that 12 year knockout game drought would be massive for the belief. As an England fan we kinda expect the worst too when we get to this point so even for the fans a win would make such a difference

Colombia are pap. Japan stuffed them, they beat a poor Poland and scrapped by the other team....Senegal was it?

England on the other hand beat Africas finest, marmalised Panama and threw a game by playing our stiffs.

Its a mismatch in our favor.

Hopefully Southgate has learnt from the last time the draw opened up for him. Man Utd and Chelsea knocked out the day before. Just beat a Cardiff team a division below at home and you're into a semi-final against Portsmouth, WBA or Barnsley.

I was obviously convinced it was Coming Home till someone reminded me of that this morning. I need a pep talk from someone.

Absolute golden opportunity for us here, likely will never open up like this again.

We're so going to lose to Colombia on penalties now. :(

It's just too good to be true for England the way it's going.

I'll guess an england goalie blunder will cost england.

Got the original TV broadcast of that France 98 game on VHS. Taped off the telly on the night, all the build up and studio discussion and everything. Might watch that later after Belgium v Japan. Get me in the mood.

I watched it in Florida, age 11. Immense when that Beckham FK went in.

It's coming home was England's Euro 96 song when the European championships were being played in England.

World Cup 2018 is being played in Russia so if Football is coming home it's not arriving in England :brock:

It was also their song in 98 when England played in France.

Isn't the song "It's coming home" because football was "invented" and actually developed into a sport in England?

It was definitely released for Euro 96 though and since then it has probably stayed as our real national song just because it's a great song and the context isn't even thought of, everyone uses it / thinks of it as a major trophy is coming home instead.

Yeah that is what the song was based on it's kinda two fold how you read into it though either A) Football ie a major tournament is coming home or B) a major trophy is coming home, listening to the song though it's definitely the former in my eyes which means football definitely isn't coming home this year unless this thread has a loads of Russians in it, I am aware everyone else is taking it as option B though :D

England will have lived up to expectation?

That makes sense, England have already made progress compared to 2014 anyway.

But I'll be happy either way tomorrow, if Colombia win it will be a fellow South American winning, and if England win, it will be interesting to see how far they go. Brazil vs England in the final would be cool too.

But don't forget lads, MOMENTUM.

Bet Belgium are glad they took all of theirs into this game.

EDIT: Oh ****. Still applies even if they win :ackter:

This proves why resting players was the right decision. Their fitness at the end was evident, not just for the goal but general play.

Express yourself
Create the space
You know you can win
Don't give up the chase
Beat the man
Take him on
You never give up
It's one on one

Express yourself
It's one on one
Express yourself
It's one on one
Express yourself
You can't be wrong
When somethings good
It's never gone

Loves got the world in motion
And I know what we can do
Loves got the world in motion
And I can't believe it's true

Now is the time
Let everyone see
You never give up
That's how it should be
Don't get caught
Make your own play
Express yourself
Don't give it away

Express yourself
Its one on one
Express yourself
Its one on one
Express yourself
You can't be wrong
When somethings good
Its never wrong

Loves got the world in motion
And I know what we can do
Loves got the world in motion
And I can't believe it's true
Loves got the world in motion
And I know what we can do
Loves got the world in motion
And I can't believe it's true

You've got to hold and give
But do it at the right time
You can be slow or fast
But you must get to the line
They'll always hit you and hurt you
Defend and attack
There's only one way to beat them
Get round the back
Catch me if you can
'Cause I'm the England man
And what you're looking at
Is the master plan
We ain't no hooligans
This ain't a football song
Three lions on my chest
I know we can't go wrong

We're playing for England {In-ger-land}
We're playing the song
We're singing for England {In-ger-land}
Arrivederci its one one one

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but my car has put a curse on us.

Songs chosen randomly this morning were 'dry your eyes' and 'coming home' :herman:

Although club foot just started playing as I finished my journey
