Messi, Di Maria, Aguero have all been used without a clear gameplan for them. I don't think Higuain has played but traditionally when he plays for Argentina there's no real gameplan. Same for Dybala.

Their squad selection features about 5 world class attackers and Sampaoli hasn't got a clue how to use them. Just like England with Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard.

Aguero and Higuain have 1 goal for Argentina between them since 2016. Those are not star offensive players, not for Argentina at least.

This isn't 2014, Di María isn't a star. They haven't played more than 2 stars in the same line up yet so it's the exact opposite issue England had of cramming as many in at once.

And why do you think that is? Do these players suddenly become absolute turd because their kit is different? Or is the manager failing to use these players properly?

He wasn't the only manager they played under. Throughout thier NT careers they've been performing much worse than for their clubs.

Or do I need to link all the finals sitters and penalties Higuain missed?

It's the exact same.

England approached it by trying to cram players in. Argentina approaching it by doing the opposite.

Either way, both nations are not playing to their strengths. They've got a hugely talented lineup/pool of players and they can't win games in spite of that. Hell they've got Icardi sat at home doing nothing, when he surely could have offered something? But no, no place for him. Same for Dybala, but we will call him up for laughs.
