Messi has lots of those where he deserves it, but not this one. Personally, I'd give it to either Kroos/Muller/Neuer, or probably to an extent Lahm. Mascherano deserves it more than Messi. But the pivotal game of the campaign was the game against Algeria! The Germans didn't play very well there but they showed team spirit and "fighting to the end"-mentality. It's like that game made the team find again the more "classic" German values to add to their game without giving up on continuing playing attacking football. Löw finally agreed to train set pieces before the tournament! That's the first time in 10 years he did that and it worked out really well. So even Löw is able to learn.
