Denmark

16 months ago we all thought we'd seen Christian Eriksen die on the pitch. Incredibly, he didn't die, Denmark went on to be one of the best teams at Euro 21, they beat France in the Nations League, and now they go into the World Cup with Eriksen back in the team and as one of the leading contenders. Amazing.

Tunisia

Tunisia were the first African team to win a World Cup match, but they have never reached the knock out stages. Keep an eye out for Youssef Msakni, their best player.

TV Coverage

Commentary comes from Seb Hutchinson and big John Hartson.

Flashback

Can Denmark recreate the magic of 1992?

Think Denmark could be one of the surprises. Qualified really well and looked really strong at the last Euros. Should easily make it out of their group and wouldn’t put it past them to finish ahead of France who are never far away from a World Cup implosion.

Not sure what to expect from Tunisia.  They keep turning up but it never seems to quite happen for them.  And they had a relatively easy qualifying group, then lucked in by drawing Mali in the playoffs.  But they did beat Chile and Japan in friendlies in the summer.

Maybe our best chance of a new R16 team this year... and it would be great if that Tunisia v France game on MD3 still had something riding on it for them.  Imagine if they can still go through and France have a wobble and need a result as well.  Wikipedia page nailed on.

Denmark are my dark horses too. Predicted them to win the group and get to another Semi Final.

Tunisia's a tough one. Not sure they've got the quality to finish in the top two of this group, but they can definitely ruffle a few feathers.

Starting here. Denmark to win, but only by one goal.

The easily beat France in Nations League recently.

They're not a top quality team, but will take advantage of any top team that's in trouble with injuries or tactical issues.

Denmark "dark horses" for every tournament it feels like  despite the fact they were SemI Finalists at Euro 2020 and won their qualifying group quite easily

I wouldn't be surprised if they won their group here, maybe similar to how Denmark did in Euro 92 with France in it

it's painful though, what a waste of an attack. it's obvious that it's offside. just raise the flag as soon as he advances with the ball

It's far far better this way than flagging whenever they think it's offside and get it wrong, and you have teams complaining that play was pulled back when their player was clean through and it ended up being miles onside.

it's really not. the defender was not even in his own half. the decision can be made instantly and clearly. it's ridiculous.

we want the officials to be better but they are basically have no responsibility here, how will they be any good if they barely even have to use critical thinking to make a call

Letting them make this kind of decision doesn't magically make them better though? All it does is increase the chance of there being a decision they get wrong and people complaining.

And pointing at this kind of instance and saying "it's obvious" doesn't work either as they get "obvious" ones wrong all the time.

In a way it's time wasting by the assistants when it's that obvious. A goal can never be scored and we ain't getting the time back on the clock.

Yeah...few months back, can't remember the commentators but they were moaning about the late flag, saying why not put it up straight away when it's obvious like that? It then showed the replay and the player was on :D
