Get in Kane

Hodgson made the change and it's paid off

Clyne off for Stones ... odd one seeing as that was planned before the goal. Stones hardly more of an attacking threat

"thats a well earned... errrrr... tackle"

hilarious :D

As bad as he is, and he's awful, I'd still rather him than Townsend.

I was willing him to find a word, willing him! :D 'Executed, Glenn' ... but no he went with 'well earned'

Why is Kane stuck on 'shoot on sight' mode? He's been doing the same for Spurs this season too

"It's a foul and he's got away with it... but it's a decent bit of defending".

Hmm.

Think he wanted to say yellow, but he shot himself in the foot by saying it wasn't a yellow just before that :D

Shaw was a bit lucky with that but the striker also had a handful of shirt. I think there's been a couple I thought we should have had the ref let go too

aww chuffed for Rooney. Pressure's off him now. Must have bricking it running up for that

2-0, Rooney with the record

I was wondering whether that simmering pressure of the pen may affect him. He doesn't have the best penalty record

Must be a HUGE weight off tbh

7 games in a row also a record

"Might have got a slight hand to it" then "didn't get anywhere near it".. when he clearly got a hand to it :D Sounded like he was watching the same replays too. No excuse.

Fingers crossed the United player would miss, right?

He's played quite well today. Been so much more dangerous deeper since Kane came on. Something Rooney does really well, is dictate tempo and opening up the play. He can't do that up front, especially not when isolated.

Kane and Rooney from now on please Roy.

I have no clue what you're on about

I was implying your United hatred spilled to here and you wanted the United striker to miss. I thought it was obvious :(

Good win, no reason why we shouldn't finish the group with 100% record now tbh

It's a must now. Shouldn't be dropping points to Estonia and Lithuania. I thought we might draw tonight in a dull affair.

It's not obvious cause I don't hate United it's just you're all a bunch of crying nancy boys whenever anyone says anything negative about United

I always defend Rooney at club level when he's blamed for everything that is wrong

You need to be a regular international starter for atleast a decade to even hope to get that, don't see Kane being around that long. Infact how many players ever are around that long? Hence the record being a big achievement.

Played 8 won 8 scored 28 conceded 3

It's pretty reading anyway

Qualifying stages usually do read well.

It's what happens after that doesnt

It's be nice to have one of those tournaments like the Germans do, 3-1 win, 2-0, 4-1 then another 2 and 3 in knock outs and gives players plenty of chances for goals

Not for us though :(

With quals and then hitting another 5 or so in a tournament adds up quickly

Is Sturridge EVER coming back?

Is this right? England start World Cup qualifiers in March and then play Scotland in June just before the euros...

That's not how it's normally done is it?

Sturridge has slipped to 3rd in the pecking order.

Rooney, Kane, Sturridge and fit Carroll will be our 4 strikers in the summer.

Yes, Carroll

So we are the only 100% side left? I like that. Though it reminds me of Spain in 98 when they did that and everyone tipped them as dark horses only to comfortable go out in the group stage.

Everyone tipped Spain as dark horses for about 20 years and they always managed to mess it up

Can't see it he's already 22 and only got 3 goals to his name, needs to average 6 goals a year for England over the next 8 years to get to it & no doubt he'll go through a scoring drought at some point (same as Rooney did)

It's a pretty great record but it would still be tough to put us level with the likes of Spain, Germany, France, Wales etc quite yet. Clearly encouraging how much our defence has improved with Smalling in particular though

100% qualifying group teams, all the way back until Euro 92, and where they finished in the tournament itself:

Spain (Euro 2012) - winners

Spain (2010 World Cup) - winners

Holland (2010 World Cup) - runners up

France (Euro 2004) - quarter-finals

Czech Republic (Euro 2000) - group stage

France (Euro 1992) - group stage

Spain didn't qualify for the 1998 World Cup with a 100% record.

Oh well that's me shown. Spain went unbeaten though, maybe that's what I'm remember. Either way I like those odd. Pretty certain to make the final if we finish with a 100% record

Germany had 100% in Euro 2012 qualifying as well. They made the semis.

Forget Rooney, Joe Hart is now 5 clean sheets away from equaling Gordan Banks :)

10 away from Seaman, then another 36 away from Shilton :D
