What's that? A new Wishlist Thread? What you would like to see in future FM versions.

Players and staffs personalities should be more distinguishing in different styles when it comes, for a player, to choosing the club, or the manager he'd like to play for, and other aspects of decision making, and the managers and other staffs may have their own standards or criterias as to how good a player is in his own personal judgement depending on what kind of style of a player he fancies, which influences the rating he values for a player. Another thought is about the players ability and attribute rating. As irl, just as some has mentioned above that Leicester city players' ratings and attributes are increased this year in the game according to their performances. And in previous years' version of FM the Leicester players' ratings and attributes are rather poor. This brings the question that shouldn't each of the attributes of a player as well as his overall CA be more dynamic and fluctuating during the game, according to the player's recent performances. Of course, this should be applied based on consideration of whether the performances are really above or below the player's currently assessed ability over a certain long period. Just an immature idea cos the mechanism for evaluating a player and his attributes is kinda intangible and vague. We can see that some players are improved a lot over different versions of FM games (in the database) during several years whereas some players (fairly young) haven't improved a bit over the years, and in the process of games, as long as playing enough games, a young player would most likely has a prominent increase in his CA.

Would like more control over goalkeeper's distribution, there's still a bit of confusion. I'd like different options for goal kicks and open play - for example I could select short goal kicks to defenders, and at the same time long throws to start counter attack in open play.

Also, more control on set pieces: different options for short or long range free kicks (I'd have a 'dry leaf' specialist for short range or a powerful kicker from long range), different takers from left/right side, more elaborated routines on corner kicks.

Twelve years into my Arsenal save, the fans keep whinging because I let legends leave at 32/33 years old. I let Neymar go as his physicals had declined quite a bit, and he would have been third choice AML. Fans called it an aberration. Then I let Calum Chambers go at 31, as he would have been fifth choice CB and third choice RB. Fans moaning again.

It would be nice to have some sort of option to say 'Player X has been a wonderful servant for us, and deserves the opportunity to play regularly for his last few years. We don't want him to end up like Alexis Sanchez, getting ten minute pity cameos when games have been won in his final season'.

Hey

I just wanted to to make a request for something I think would be great to implement in future installments of football manager.

I really hope they will implement separate technial attributes for left and right foot.

I will try to explain what i mean:

Let's say you have a player with 20 with his right foot and 10 with his left. And you have 16 in passing, 14 in finishing and 12 in first touch.

My guess is that your left foot will be 8 in passing, 7 in finishing and 6 in first touch. Formula would be 16/20*10 = 8

Next example you have 20 with your right and 15 with your left. Now with 16 passing, 14 finishing and 12 first touch you would have

12, 10 and 9 with your weak foot.

I think the problem with this is that it's quite unrealistic. It would be much better if technical attributes were separate for left and right foot.

Often in real life you will find players who is good at shooting, crossing and passing with their

weak foot but that maybe lack the technical ability, first touch and dribble skill with their weak foot. Or maybe they are terrible at shooting

with their weak foot, but good at passing with it. I have seen a lot of examples of this.

So what i mean is in player attributes it would be set up like this:

technical attributes

this is just an example what it would look like ingame:

right foot/left foot

crossing 16/14

dribbling 15/10

finishing 13/9

heading 8

long shots 12/6

marking 10

passing 17/14

tackling 9/6

first touch 14/8

technique 15/8

penalty 14/4

corner 15/4

free kick taking 12/5

long throws 5

Also it would be much easier to know excactly how good your weak foot is rather then just seing it says a player is very poor, poor, ok, good or very good with their weak foot. It's hard for new players to know what this means if they don't look in the editor. Technical attributes like heading, marking and long throws that don't involve using your feet still only have one attribute.

I have no proof that this is how it works in the engine but it would make sense that if you have 20 with strong foot and 10 with your

weak foot your technical ability with weak foot is half as good.

One real life example of this is Norwegian right back Espen Ruud. In real life he can play at both right back and left back and cross and pass good with both feet.

In FM he have 15 for crossing which is great and his technical attribute is 11. The problem is his weak foot is only an 8. This means he only have 6 for crossing

with his weaker foot which is just plain wrong. His technical attribute would be 4.4 with his weak foot which I think is not far off. In real life I would say his

technical skill with the weak foot would be around 5-6 and his crossing ability should be at least 10 but more likely around 11-12. That is excactly why i don't

like the way it is now since using him at left back would be useless because of his terrible crossing skill with his left foot. His finishing is 11 with his strong foot

which which will give him a 4.4 with weak foot in finishing. I would say that is pretty much spot on. But if I increase his weak foot to make his crossing like real life

then suddenly he becomes great at shooting with his left foot too which he's not. I think it would be great if it was implemented in to the game in the future. :)

Let FM2017 be played with former databases. So you can choose to start in 2000 or 2005 or 1996 or whatever, with the squads as they were in that year.

Sigames has all the data available from former games, so it shouldn't be too hard to implement.

They do not have the licenses to do that, each set of licensed competition & club data is only valid for the current season, it's why you cannot buy digital versions of older FM titles & changing that will mean paying close to full price for each database so that the license vendors get their share of the income.

Players should have "motivations" that affect which clubs they'll want to sign for and which contract clauses they'll value the most. This would improve variety in the transfer market and help to give players a more realistic personality. Here are a few examples I thought of:

Prestige - prefers high rep clubs

Competition - favours clubs entered in high rep competitions and higher squad status

Money - will be more likely to chase the highest wages regardless of other considerations

Loyalty (different name may be needed to differentiate from the stat) - +favourate teams, -rivals of fav teams

Wanderlust - Prefers to play in foreign countries, likes to move between countries with transfers

Personal development - standard of club facilities/coaching, will want to leave if doesn't feel he can improve further at current club

Friendship - favours joining same clubs as favourite people

Security - favours long contracts

I would suggest that there be a limited number of "points" that can be allocated to different motivations in any configuration - perhaps 20 total, with up to 20 points being able to be allocated to any one motivation?

This might be pretty personal to me, but I sometimes like to play as other mangers that already exist (eg, put my name as Jose Mourinho and manage chelsea/Man U) this is all fine but then along comes the 'real' Mourinho at some other club and it kinda spoils the immersion.

And when I was younger I'd edit myself into the game and then manage the team and pretend I was a player manager! Again the issues would come when the player version of me suddenly wanted a new challenge or If I wanted to apply for another job (how do I take the player version of me with me?)

I'd love an assume the identity option where if I select a managers name I can effectively link myself to the 'real' version. This could also work for being a player manager with linking you to the player.

After having yet another backup player complaining about playing time, I'd wish we could do away with the whole squad status system. It's silly if you ask me. As a manager I would like to tell my players how many games they can expect to start during the year, which tournaments they will feature in (could be very useful for keepers if we could divide playing time like Barcelona have done), and talk to them when I need them to hit their top form (some players peak early in the season, others peak later, some won't peak at all).

Improve the 3D animation please. Current 3D animation is poor and ugly. Animation must be detailed and same as the real life. Add new and various 3D animations. Such as pushing and pull shirt of the opponent. More goal animation. More defending animation. More attacking animation. More tackling animation. More technique animation. More skill animation. More goalkeeping animation. Animation of a player blocked an opponent by a body when he is trying to run pass him like a defender such as Felipe Luis marking Lionel Messi in real life. 3D animation must be as close as possible to the real life football match. Also, new tactical feature.

Please bring back the 'target man' option (not just the role) and the 'target man supply' (head, feet, run onto ball). You might want to rename it to avoid confusion, I just want to be able to channel play through a striker in different ways without being forced to select current target man role (which is quite limited and is best suited for big strong strikers and long balls). I think this option was extremely useful and would really like to have it back.

Please remove the post match interview question that says I hit the woodwork an inordinate amount of times, looking back through my season I have hit the woodwork on three or more occasions fourteen times, which would indicate that it is an entirely normal situation.

During matchday:

1. Add automatic pause option for the following events (A) goals are scored, (B) yellow cards © personal prefference (60min for subs or etc) (D) certain players gets slight injuries (E) conceding.

2. Add ingame assistant reports to pop up on particular players (can be selected prior to matches)

3. Add a warm up option for player in the bench, to reduce likeliness of injuries, improve morale (and other hidden attributes)

4. Add assistant reccomednation for substituion ingame pop up. (eg. Steve Bould suggest Sanchez should be taken off since he is not playing well, Chamberlain could be best option since he is in good condition and are motivated to get into the scoresheet).

I dont know if this was mentioned yet but i would like to see lower reputation clubs being able to sell a player for a higher price... For example in fm16 i played with hajduk split and beside nikola vlasic and balic i cant sell almost anyone at a price of over 4 or 5 million... I would like to see significant changes to that because that really is an important part if you ask me... For example my striker scored 19 goals in division 1 in my second season and i couldnt get more then 750k for him... So can you make adjustments to that so that when a player has a great season or develops a lot in a year he can be sold to better cluba at a higher price

I always wanted this, A board request to host the UCL/UEL Final it would be really simple to do and would add to the game as in FM 16 i see the same stadiums over and over. It feels really weird that my 131.000 Seat stadium never is considered.

Love the game but yea so much work to do be done alright here goes nothing:

Visuals: Ok so I get that football manager is not a visually stimulating game but some improvement has got to be made in this area haven’t spent a colossal amount of time on FM any changes would be welcome but here’s my proposed list.

So press conferences how about a little picture for example you could have a picture of say a silhouette of a manager blanked out with the advertising boards behind it (realism and revenue) and microphone’s pointed at you with the questions asked below as normal.

Also on that note press conferences when selecting a tone option can it stick to that option it’s a pain having to click on passionate or anything other than calm for every single question. Or have a option of a default setting so you can select what it starts on?

Kits, Club badges, competition badges all of that desperately needs the official images brought in.

Managing any club feels the same. Same layout, same look regardless of division, nature or size how about we see the YNWA sign when managing Liverpool or pictures of the stadium or training ground of that club. Even generic ones of a poor stadium facilities to world class or maybe a backdrop of the city just something to differentiate the cultures of the clubs.

Matches: Handshakes of the players?, Spoken aloud commentary would be great I don’t think I have ever played a FM game that hasn’t been in mute or sounds of crowds.

Being able to see the training ground or at least a default picture dependent on class of facilities.

Press Conferences: probably the worst thing in the game lads, these are a chore and are so predictable for long term users first off add more questions and make them more relevant even allow users to make their own and mod the game with it that would be great.

Training needs a new overhaul arguably the most important thing as a coach its all so generic I mean you stick it on balance and then that’s pretty much it! Needs individual regimes and sessions to personalise and choose from.

Bigger emphasis on improving current players would be good, seems to have little impact regardless on if you have the best coaches in the division and world class training facilities it’s hard to develop young players or just improve current.

Squad chemistry constantly told by scouts that so and so is struggling to fit in yet his morale is the same as others plays the same and never turns up unhappy what difference does it actually make?

Team talks need an overhaul seems to be that only show me something else in the second half is the best thing you can say by a mile regardless of tone really generic.

You cant talk to players on national duty anymore whats that about?

Way too many goals conceded immediately after someone scores and too many in the last minute of a game.

End of board meeting isn’t even a meeting! Its just a message how about another board meeting where it takes you to the actual page and gives you a proper review and asks questions like where can you improve what can we do differently etc

Scout reports aren’t very detailed and the star system makes it feel very gamey way too easy to find players that will improve your squad with it.

Transfers why when negotiating with a club do they always want monthly instalments and bonuses aka after 10 games receive x amount compared to money upfront which is what I was offering I mean you can offer 30m upfront say they will say they want 20m upfront and 20m over months and after goals/apperances then you offer 31m upfront and they take it bizarre and the other way why do clubs make an offer non-negotiable in the first round of negotiation which I will reject only to then offer another non-negotiable offer.

It would be good if we could personalise the manager’s history more aka pick former position caps goals and former teams.

Fans need a bigger role in the game practically non-existent

Winning a trophy needs to have more about it often you get one extra message and that’s it even a simply animation confetti screen would be good.

Tactics make a simple adjustment and familiarity takes such a massive hit also for international despite playing the same system for 6 years with 80% of the same players their familiarity was still barely competent how long should it take!

Co-op games it would be good if they made a bigger deal about it talk about the rivalry comparison stats etc

How are leader board calculated seems a bit off

1. Separate development of physical, technical and mental attributes. A new system other than current overall CA/PA for evaluation of how good a player is or the rating of a player. Don't know if I understand it correctly, cos' currently if a player's CA is increased say from 100 to 110, then the increased 10 CA is allocated to different attributes according to a certain mechanism, but in reality, the case is that a player may perform well in training and maybe he is likely most addicted in in physical training such as C. Ronaldo irl, then over a certain period, his physical attributes will increase steadily, and through other trainings and matches he's played, his other attributes may increase logically and reasonably, so, then, his overall rating will become better. That means, his certain areas of abliity is improved, so that it means his overall rating is now better, not that because his CA is increase, so that he now has the chance to be allowed to improve his certain attributes. It's a logically opposite direction.

2. Mental attributes should be much more harder to determine or scout, serveral of them (maybe) should be made hidden too, and can only be vaguely suggested through observation by managers and staffs. And the improvement of metal ability should be more intricate, maybe moulded through a lot of training and teaching and lessons during young ages in youth acedamy. And the match engine should be able to reflect the difference between an experienced player and a young player. In FM16 during preseason friendly match, the first team seems to be easily beaten up by our own U21 team, and don't seem to be in control of the match throughout.

3. More versatile, specific and detailed tactical (both attacking and defending respectively including both movements and positionings) arrangements and settings. Such as the following pic:

Players should sometimes run to the touchline and hug the manager! Also maybe they run into the crowd, or take their shirt off or something.

Goal line technology - Sometimes there would be a goalmouth scramble, cleared off the line, play continues, then all of a sudden it starts flashing Goal For X!

That pic shows average positions.

Yes, then how can the manager in the game adjust the position that a player averagely shows up in a match and the runs in different directions? Could there be an easier way to control that in the game and tactics?

You can already set their defensive positions via the formation screen. Roles and duties control the movement. So you can set it all up.

I create my own club, stadium, players, staff, league, load the game and go on holidays.

I do a season review.

I don't play the game because it's complex.

What I'd like:

Page that states how many games the player is expected to play a season and against what type of opposition... stronger, weaker, similar.

Be able to keep the original manager and watch proceedings.

Page that states what formations, mentality, fluidity, roles, duties, team instructions, player instructions, were assigned for every match I was away, including changes during the matches.

On the comparison and team comparison screen there is room on the general, all positions, goalkeepers, defence, midfielder, attacker screens to give the process and suitability regarding recommended formation, mentality, fluidity, role, duty, team instructions, player instructions for the match with a log of every match.

The game should be simple with depth... option to get rid of mentality, fluidity, roles, duties, and have formation, team and player instructions.

To keep with the human feel theme, I'd get rid of the value column because it changes frequently and it shouldn't because it should be the price the player was last bought or sold. The director of football, manager, assistant manager, scout, should be able to provide the players current value.

Staying on the subject of human feel, I'd get rid of player ratings. The player development reports should reflect his performances.

Also, for team chemistry reasons state the player religion.

I just want an option to sign retired players, that's it, it happens a lot in real life and we cant do that in FM.

Also I would like that we could send an offer to a player, even when he doenst want to come to a lower league, we should be able to at least try to seduce him with our offer.

I have a few suggestions based on playing FM for past few years and also other Sports SIM's such as OOTP and FHM which whilst not offering the depth of FM in some aspects they offer much more in other ways. Also as social media and the almost constant flow of managers in clubs at all levels its possible for a manager to be running more than one club in a single season such as Rafa Benitez at Real Madrid and Newcastle.

Also more and more than ever before players become more involved in issues which may ultimately effect Morale, Form and even team selection a bad comment in the press, a tweet taken out of context even photo's driving sports cars can effect fan sentiment and a hero can quickly go to zero fan power is bigger than ever. I suspect FM going forward will be making these influences far more important and for realism this is highly relevant.

In addition other ideas I have are...

1. Being able to load historical data such as the teams of years gone buy Class of 92, Arsenals Invincibles and maybe even the Busby Babes, Cloughies Derby and Forest, The great teams of Milan, Madrid and Barca and even the golden days of Ajax .

Presumably the actual players would be a matter of public record so it would only be a case of adding the option to change data and start dates to run this as an add on or option for additional content. To see how this could work look at OOTP Baseball which takes historical teams for over 100 years and allows the player to re create the seasons and nostalgia with those teams. A little more off the wall is taking teams of yester year say the undefeated Arsenal team (invincibles) and pitting them against those playing currently.

2.Another thing I would like to see is being able to actually take over a current team and manage the team as the current manager for example instead of say PEP Guadiola getting the boot at Man City you could run the team as PEP and see how you would fair in the role with the same team etc. Again this would require a data change but in principle just changing start dates should make that possible it would be case of taking over a club on a given day if this could be possible?

3.It has been said there is no such thing as an un known talent these days with modern scouting, and software meaning even a 10 year old will once on the radar be monitored at least by some one. This being the case contrary to being a "newly discovered talent" the reality it's a case of who signs them first. Case in point being Anthony Martial or Rihyad Mahrez they appeared to have come from know where but it transpires this isn't really the case. The tracking aspect of FM isn't that apparent what would be great if a team needs a forward with certain criteria and over time a player achieves or is believed to have the potential to achieve that where as previously they hadn't the program offers the manager a suggestion to consider .... X player not sure if data can be used dynamically like this so may be not possible?

4. More needs to be considered regarding how revenue is generated teams like Man City have rich owners but produce less advertising revenue than say Real Madrid and Man Utd who have more revenue streams such as sponsors etc. This dynamic is more and more relevant as player wages go higher and transfer fees of relative unknowns become almost limitless. Some teams have better negotiators than others and even factors like the weather, a girl friends preferred home and competiveness of league seem to effect player choice. A less robust player might be harder to attract to say the Premiership.

Link to post

I guess this have been mentioned before, but I can't stress enough the importance of dynamic rivalries. In my FC United save, and I'm finally in the Premier League in 2029, my rivals are currently Leeds, Liverpool, Man City and Salford. These I agree with, but clubs like Bradford PA and Chorley is also there because of competitiveness which is just stupid when both of them are below Vanarama south/north.

A minor one that has bugged me for ages - show the start date of the next season a lot earlier.

Case in point, just promoted into L1 for start of 18/19 season and start planning friendlies - you have to do this early to snag a big team for the money. I check the previous seasons: first saturday in August, first saturday in August... I build my pre-season around that, then the fixture list is finally published and the season starts second saturday in August. OK, in this case you could say it's a 'bonus' week of pre-season, but I've also suffered the reverse and had to cancel 'morale-boosters' against lesser teams in the final week.

Link to post

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but its a thought on how to indicate the relative difficulty of managing a club. People often say the game is too easy, others often say the game is too hard and a large amount of this boils down to the choice a person initially makes.

I think it might be worthwhile for a new section on the club selection screen that indicates relative difficulty of managing this team. With a modifying consideration for previous experience, coaching badges and such.

Sides with huge cash reserves, little debt and a history of success would be 0 star or half star challenges.

There's so many elements of the game to consider though, cash, debt, the chairmans status (is he looking to leave etc), the training facilities, the youth facilities, the leagues overall wealth and strength, injuries and a general squad assessment.

Tooltips could provide a brief overview of the clubs major challenges or strengths. I don't think it'd overly change too much within the game, but it could certainly help steer people who want it towards a more severe challenge and possibly even lead to something like a "recommended" starting point for novices to the game.

Here are some suggestions for future versions of the game

Proposals for FM:

• When your team scores or concedes a goal you should have some seconds (until the replay is over for example) to cancel a substitution you have made

• A change should be made on the ranking method of the goalkeeper. Many times goalkeepers with 10 or more saved shots (2 or 3 clear cut chances) get a 7 and a goalkeeper with two conceded goals in three shots on target get a 6.8

o Furthermore the penalty shootout process should have an effect on the goalie’s rating. It’s not possible that your keeper saves 3 penalties and he finishes with a 6.8 rating..

• Tactical analysis of the match with your team

o Team meeting after the match (the next day) with tactical notes from the manager to the team. This could be done for example with 5 highlights from the match explaining what was done right or wrong. The highlights would be selected together with the assistant.

• Right click on a player (for example on the team ratings table during the match) should offer you some pep talk options

• Ability to instruct a player to get yellow card (not only by ordering him to be more harsh on his tackling) if you want him to serve a penalty on the next match so he does not lose some crucial upcoming matches.

• Ability to contact or be contacted by a manager (with whom you have a good relationship for example) for a transfer target of your/his team or a player he/you have worked with etc.

• Ability for a full interview by a journalist (for example after winning a title, quitting a post, taking over the managerial role at a club….)

• Ability to buy a club (When you are the manager of REAL MADRDID and you get 5M per year you can easily buy a minor club from your home country…)

- Women's football introduced. It's about time this was included to give the game ultimate realism.

- Lists of all-time appearances, clean sheets and top-scorers in competitions, such as how my players compare to PL all-time top scorer Alan Shearer.

- Ability to be able to see shirt sales per player at any point in the season, as I am always intrigued by seeing the top few listed once a season.

- I think that in modern day football players get in trouble a lot for their comments on social media, so it would be good if some of that could be incorporated into the game - or even post match reaction tweets from players.

- Kit design should evolve from one season to the next. Game could give option for manager to select from a few kit options each season, or manager could chose to let fans decide

- News story when one of your players is invited to be a pundit on a TV show or for a live match or for a tournament - for example if an international is injured or not picked, then he could offer his thoughts for a broadcaster from the studio.

- Offers to become a pundit when you're between jobs or at a major tournament, or one of your old clubs is involved in a big match.

Some of these have been addressed before rcmuk, womens football just doesn't have a large enough driving force behind it to be viable. To some extent for most leagues there's already a reasonably fleshed out research process, when they're brought into FM there's a fairly solid foundation in place.

I imagine it will happen some day, but there would likely need to be a new CA/PA system more fitting to womens football to correctly utilise the scale, there'd need to be a new reputation system etc. Then the research compounded on top, just because I'm the Stoke City researcher it doesn't mean I also go to watch the womens team as well.

The shirt sales stats, kit design and, punditry and social media are either a bit too "simsy" for football manager and not really a managers role, or potentially mired in potential legal issues (when it comes to something potentially controversial involving real life people)

The list of all time appearances and stat tracking away from the clubs All Time XI I can agree with definitely. If FM isn't already tracking the information for all players it could potentially be a processor crippling element, games that traditionally store all that kind of information tend to grind to a halt far quicker. FM suffers the problem anyway to an extent (those 1,000 year saves often tend to crash on most PC's) ramping up the amount of information even further might not be the best in the short term. If its already being tracked full though and just needs a display/output for it, then it'd be nice.

Hi. First post here. A little bit lost... lol

Not at all. It's important when it comes to job security. Higher wages (and a longer contract) means it's more expensive to sack you, so the club will think a bit harder before pulling the trigger and vice versa.

I'd like to see an addition to the Netherlands roster. Because this upcomming season will be different here in the Netherlands. Right now we have 'Eredivisie' & Jupiler League. In August we have a new pyramid system. That makes it possible to promote or relegate from and to proffesional football. So for my wishlist. I'd like to see 'Tweede Divisie' added to be a playable competition.

Greetings from NL
