Pace is always gonna be important because it can be terrifying for defences, we saw the impact Lennon had on defences in the last World Cup, going down the wing and then cutting into the box at the 'angle of pain', he just needed some more experience and crossing ability/looking up from time to time, which he seems to have now and has also added goals to his game.

We have two frighteningly fast wingers in Lennon and Walcott, which is pretty cool for us

It depends how he's used, he did ok getting in behind the Croats, I am sure Capello has it sorted. I think Milner could be a 'sleeper' on the international scene, nothing glamarous but he's a 'grafter' and does the simple things right, he also seems to raise himself a little when playing for England, he's definitely going to the World Cup imo and so he should

I may be a bit biased here being a villa fan and all but Milner has been one of the stand out players in the league this year.

Ok, he doesn't possess the pace of a Walcott or Lennon but he's willing to do the donkey work and help out his full back a hell of a lot more, and considering it looks like Johnson's going to be playing there, we'll need all the help defensively that we can get..... Plus, he's got a good delivery on him as well and if Johnson goes on the overlap there'll be no trouble with Milner covering fullback.... I'm suprised Capello hasn't looked at him in that position tbh

Walcott almost always makes an impact as a sub. As a starter he's hit and miss.

Exactly my thought. I think Capello probably sees him that way, too. His pace is so electric that he can tear apart the left back in the last 20 minutes. His impact v. Barca was stunning.

I like Lennon to be the starter, but Milner has been amazing. He has to find playing time.

Lennon/Walcott, depends who's the more in-form.

If Walcott finds any sort of consistency then it has to be him, if not then it's Lennon for me but either way, if one starts the other will make an impact as a sub.

Lennon should play there if fit

Walcott is so much better as an impact sub and SWP shouldn't even go

I would have said Milner but he has played the majority of the season in the middle but i would be more than happy with him there

I wouldnt mind seeing Milner play there tbh. Hes done well for Villa this season and although Lennons played well Milners stood out more.

Then possibly bring on Lennon in the 2nd half as a fresh pair of speedy legs :p

Milner has had a great season, but in the middle, so for for that reason i wouldn't play him on the right

I agree with STaphouse. Capello has said he'd rather not play players in positions they haven't played for their clubs. If he uses Milner and Gerrard on the wing, neither winger will have played on the wing for a good 8 months, or whenever it was Downing regained fitness.

He also said he prefers players who are specialised to their role. ie 'out and out' centre forwards, wingers etc. So Milner is ruled out imo.

Then again, he also said he picks players based on club form yet Heskey was still getting games.

I've voted Lennon, but that's assuming he's fully fit and gets back to the form before January.

I prefer Milner but he's been playing in the middle and doesn't offer the same pace as Lennon. With Gerrard on the left I'm going to echo what's been said many times before and say pace on the right wing is important.

Capello on Adam Johnson today or yesterday

When asked which young English player had impressed him most this season, Capello said: “Johnson. He has come up from the Championship, where he played in a different position, and done well. Now it’s important he gets some international experience.”

It could be on

I think he deserves to get in that initial 30 or whatever is it before they pick the squad that goes. He's really impressed me whenever I see him, doesn't shy away from receiving the ball and always makes things happen.

Hopefully he'll continue playing for City next season and they don't sign some super-duper wingers and he's suddenly getting the odd start here and there with some sub appearances
