craigcwwe
Fantastic performance that, especially in the second half. Memphis absolutely tore their defence apart, where has that been all season? Needs to carry on like that now and let this game be the turning point for him. His best game for us yet. The younger academy players should be very pleased too, Riley at LB look composed and did well just like on Monday night in the FA Cup. Rashford of course with the two goals, what a way to make your debut at OT at 18 in a European night! Varela too, been impressed with him since he's come into the first team, nice assist for one of Rashford's goals too. Schenderlin carried on from Monday's game too tonight, that what we bought him for. On another day he could have scored 2-3. Young lads showing the senior guys how it's done! Heartwork
LVG apparently had a go at Rashford at HT for running too much and straying from his position so he told him to stay within vicinity of the goal during the second half so he can get chances. Looks like LVG's man management actually worked out for once.

Noob21
So United have had the Busby Babes, Fergie's Fledglings, who's this lot? It's like that meme, you know the one where LVG is surrounded by "very" young players and he likes them because they follow his tactics

Pangaea
Although the horny comment was funny, and I've made my poor jokes too, we have a similar expression in Norwegian, and they probably have the same in Dutch. Directly translated: goal horny. LVG tends to directly translate a bit much. Probably speaks better English than Rooney tho!
Icelander83
Have that here too, it's an awful expression
Harryseaess
Well that was quite easy in the end. Memphis was class, I can't remember the last time a winger for us had such a good game. Amazing what a bit of belief from the manager and confidence can do. Hopefully he can continue against Arsenal. Few boos from the crown when Herrera stepped up to take the penalty, followed by shouts of "Rashford!" but probably the right decision for him to take it considering the score at the time. If it was 4-1 when we got the penalty it may have been a different story.
Schotsmannetje
Yes, 'horny in front of the goal' is a typical Dutch expression.

Harryseaess
Why are you sad about getting Liverpool? If we get through with the winner of Dortmund/Spurs going through we've got to fancy winning it. This has been a great draw.
craigcwwe
Never like getting the other English sides. Be awful if we were knocked out by them. Even moreso Liverpool. 50/50 though on who goes through, we're starting to get some senior players back now too. Pleased Dortmund got Spurs as if we go through then one of the better teams will be out from that leg.

sebsy
Just watched the game. Looked like it could have been one of those nights with Schneiderlin hitting the post, Mata missing a penalty, Herrera heading wide with an easy header... but we were too good for them in the end, though I wouldn't say we eased through. Depay had a great match, but Owen said something about his confounding his critics which is total bollocks. Putting on that kind of performance regularly rather than for the first time since the Brugge matches will be confounding critics. Either way, was a quality display. Riley had a really good game as did Varela on the opposite side. Lingard continues to be a bit meh. Has his moments but in general is not really doing much atm. Was a dive as well, no doubt about it and a deserved yellow card. What a debut for Rashford. 2 quality, composed finishes and an overall good performance with some nice little touches. Nice to see Rojo back, need as many back as quickly as possible atm. And nice to see Poole get a few minutes at the end. Carrick totally sold himself for their goal, even a Sunday league footballer would have stayed on their feet there. Herrera taking the penalty was the right decision despite those daftly saying Rashford should have taken it. Liverpool next round is certainly one of the tougher draws we could have been handed but if we are going to win it then we'll have to play the top teams at some point. Probably wouldn't have expected to face them in Europe for the first time in the Europa League but it is what it is. Big game Sunday, need to win really if we are going to genuinely threaten 4th spot. I think if Martial is fit then Rashford doesn't start but he should definitely make the bench either way. Maybe even a shout for him to start as well as Martial if the latter is fit, though that would have been easier to say if Depay hadn't had his first decent game in months. Could maybe switch Depay to the right, leave Lingard out and Martial back out on the left with Rashford up front, but then switching Depay after such a good game would be as bad a time to do so as it would to leave him out. Timmy Howard
I think Rashford has to start, he'll he absolutely flying. Even if it's Martial on the right, they can interchange. Depay, Rashford and Martial have the pace to cause real problems on the counter as we all know we'll be set up defensively
sebsy
Oh, absolutely, the only reason I'm even contemplating him potentially starting is because we have no other ****er fit atm.

Sheps.
We shouldn't expect much from Rashford too soon, in a way scoring two will only create extra pressure on him. He's got a few years learning yet and I think Arsenal are a huge step up for him. Reading the Daily Mail article on him you would think he's the next Cantona. Really over the top. He's a good prospect though and I hope he goes on to be a top player. Anyone who watches the academy regularly - any idea what's happened to Demetri Mitchell? Not heard anything about him for a while.

metal_guitarist
On Thursday Ed Woodward and Nicky Butt gave a presentation to the staff and parents of the academy. The youth team stadium that was rumoured last year is going ahead, no word on the location yet though. We're also appointing an Operations Director to work alongside Butt at the academy. We're going potentially to start appointing full-time scouts as part of a scouting overhaul, concentrating on the local areas whilst bringing in the odd star from abroad - Januzaj, Pogba, Fosu-Mensah level of ability/potential etc.
