@Rizz0theratI hope you have as much fun as I do with Spartans!

Am loving it so far. I am trying to go a bit more attacking this season, would love a Martin Kubr in my intake though! They have a decent base with two good centre backs and a decent striker, my goalkeeper managed to get a work permit too which is a bonus.

Going to indefinitely halt my Novara save. Went a few years in and my intakes were terrible. The club finances were in the red, my best players had all left and my squad was Serie D/Excellenza level quality and I was on target for relegation. Might pick it up again when I'm a bit more experienced, but it wasn't fun for a beta save and I think Italy was a step too far for me.

Does anyone know of any countries where you're likely to start with an amateur team for this challenge? I like the idea of being able to build up finances and infrastructure before going pro. Tried Northern Ireland, but in 50 loads only Belfast Celtic and Donegal Celtic ever got promoted.

Having just finished my 5th season I can say Belgium isn't a bad place to start. IMO the league structure there is helpful for the challenge. 3rd tier where you start is amateur and on a larger side with 15 teams. Each  year 3-4 new teams are brought into the league so you have a good number of options to pick from. And you only have 1 promotion slot up so you don't get a bunch of movement of stronger teams down from the upper leagues. Granted this will also make it harder to advance. Both the Amateur Tier and the Pro B tier have 28 game seasons with a full month winter break to rest up your weary youngsters. You only play more than one game a week during early cup runs and when bad weather forces you to postpone games (which will happen often). So it is very nice on small squads and you don't break all your players. I had trouble getting out of Pro B, which has caused some major issues (Transfer Post Coming soon) but that is because i generated such good youth talents.

Reputation-wise Amateur is around League 2  and Pro B is significantly below League 1 so there isn't as big of a jump when you get promoted. The downside to Belgium though is the finances. You don't get any money for league performance and a pittance for cup runs (25k for losing in the Quarter Final). So it all comes down to Television which is about 1Million USD a year and then whatever you generate from Attendance (600k) and Sponsorships (500k).

I can't say for all the starting teams but mine had Good rated facilities and youth set up at the get go. Make sure you're happy with whatever they have at start though as with the money above you won't be able to upgrade anything. I'd suggest also loading in at least the Netherlands for your database as they generate a lot of coaches so i was able to get a very cheap decent HOYD who was unattached when I took over.  Be religious about constantly resigning your young talents onto new contracts and putting up dumb high transfer values on them because you well get sniped by the Pro A clubs constantly for your talents and your broke board won't say no. I screwed this up a couple times and ended up neutering my attacking development losing a striker and LAM who would have been my stars.

Vanarama National League North

2026/27 (Season 5)

Season Summary

Back in the national league north and I wasn't too optimistic about our chances either

League - We made a good start and between October and November put together a really good unbeaten run to send us into the play-off positions. We couldn't keep that form up after christmas and instead headed into a pattern of winning a couple and then losing a couple again. But that managed to keep us in those play-off spots and, despite losing the last two games of the season, we finished fourth and qualified for the play-offs.

First match was a quater-final home game against Kings Lynn Town, who had just beaten us on the final day of the season. We got revenge, winning 1-0 to set up a semi-final away at Oldham. We were never favourites for that game, Oldham finished way above us, and in the end we did far better than I thought taking it to extra-time. We ended up losing to a 113th minute goal but we did good in the end

27leguetabe.JPG.8a49eacecac714448a7668dd3c7f5b58.JPG

FA Cup - we went on a good run, beating Scarborough and Gateshead to reach the 1st round proper. One of our fans then claimed an way draw against that franchise team was like winning the lottery. It really wsn't, although we did make around 50k. They beat us 3-1. I don't like that club.

Players

This was the season where our first batch of youth players stepped up and became key players in the team

27bestXI.JPG.a315723fd95c55b7f534a0a7d06f6a36.JPG

Michael Gallagher 24A - I stuck him up front at the expense of Fewster and it paid off. He was great, hitting 30 goals. He also dropped back into AMC and MC when needed as well. He's gonna be a really important player in years to come.

George McCleery 25A - Easily our best player, and only just turned 17. Also our first international, albeit U21 team. I could do with 10 others like him really. Look at that personality, and those technicals for this level are pretty, pretty good

27mmcleary.JPG.8ecc306ee0a4ec1c563fe8cdca8904b6.JPG

Youth

Very exciting to see what my new adequate youth intake could bring in. Each improvement can make a huge difference at this level.

27youthpreview.JPG.52f522536b5f33f97b35f28961d6320f.JPG

Very pleased with that! a 5 star intake, two A grade positions and a C grade centre back, which I really need.

Would it be that good when the intake came?

27youthintake.JPG.73ce84112f46e92b28c77b1b5531ce6e.JPG

Not bad, and Gareth Savage looks handy. But he's got a really low determination so I'm not sure if he's quite first team worthy yet, even if the coach rates him as the best centre back at the club already. A couple of seasons under my iron rule should sort him out though

27savage.JPG.f19c39bcfd0c7fdb3662f816ca352f27.JPG

Finances and Upgrades

No upgrades this season but we managed to finish in the green again. I've really struggled with finances in early seasons in previous challenges so I'm quite pleased I've managed to keep in the green for so long this time around. I could do with an amazing cup run though, that'd be nice.

Career

So, back to trying to get out of National League North again. I don't think it will be as quick as easy as last time either. It could be a long slog! Particularly as the next few seasons will see the legacy players replaced by youth team players, which is always a tricky transition.

First Youth Intake in. I also managed to finally get a HYOD a few weeks prior. Some solid prospects to at least build some much needed depth. I'll be losing at least 4 of my 20 players going into the next year. Signing all to at least get my Under 19 team free of gray players and see who develops.

So SC Beira-Mar reached the end of the 26/27 season, finishing in 7th place, improving two places on the last two years where we finished 9th. I would say that I'm happy with that, but unfortunately we hit a slump again towards the end of the season having been in contention for the play-offs coming out of January so it's a little disappointing. That said, the youngsters in the team are still learning and their stamina makes the season a long hard slog once injuries and suspensions kick in. Couple that with the fact that Cortez was sold by the board to Udinese for 525k (20%) sell on - thus removing 17 goals from the left wing, I guess we did well to finish as high as we did!

We have seen some good improvements from our two central midfielders Stenio Alves and Joao Oliveira shown below, and much of our hopes for next season lay with them. We are still in need of a good centre back though as we are still so easy to score against!

Always love a good save in Portugal. Beira-Mar, Leça, Salgueiros, Os Belenenses are some of the "historics" teams in Portugal that now are in the lower leagues

RAAL La Louviere Belgian Pro League A - 2027/28 (Season 6: Pre-Season)

Transfer Special

Now I know not to use the "Contract extension on Promotion" clause. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but because of the way the Playoff/Regulation Battle is structured in the Belgian Pro B / A leagues it totally deleted these clauses on my star players. What I didn't realize is when you go into that two leg competition for promotion you actually do get bumped temporarily into the Pro A league. Because of this it triggers the clause in the contract. However, if you lose the playoff like I did then you fall back down into Pro B before the tick-over happens where the trigger pulls for actually extending the contracts. That 94" goal is seriously coming back to haunt me, I'll call it the curse of the USA World Cup. I'll report it later, but it made for a frustrating first transfer into the top flight where I am forced to send off my two best players. Makengo even filed for a Free Transfer at end of contract 13 months ahead of expiration to put the point home.

Because they are better than anyone I have on my team there was no chance I was going to let any of my competitors get them. Looking back I should have been more patient on Makengo. He's signed to RKC Waalwijk in Kreuken 2 for 1.3M, but he forced them into a brutal 3.2 M non-promotion release clause. For Kromah I was able to get Schalke 04 to bite but it was for a low 835k total value. I was basically paranoid that if I left it till the deadline day I could get totally swindled on them, so I took the guaranteed 2.1 M even if my top end isn't as ideal. Here are my tracking tables for the save:

1288046646_2028CareerInfoatsale.png.5831760f9da327bc62329be96fc43a71.png

1339177522_2028TransferInfo.png.ba2842c2b264c4e20dfbe612b213fa51.png

And my Proof of no incoming transfers:

1499906365_2028TransferPage.thumb.jpg.24e293ba5c0c9f31c3d3b52998f63ff6.jpg

Team Financials

While I was ecstatic about the force professional status I was less so excited for the mandatory undersoil heating that will cost 2.7M to install. So my sale of my two top players didn't even cover that cost. Luckily the increased in income is already noticeable as with the transfers we've matched last years total income already. While I have been cussing out the board when they sell my prospects they really have stepped it up with investing into the club. They invested 1.4M for the undersoil and have put in probably 2.5M total throughout the save. Granted we also have 2M in bank loans now as well, but hopefully the TV income and increased match revenue will pull us out of the hole.

Manager Thoughts

This will be a true battle against relegation. My replacement CB for Makengo is 16. No one from any of the older intakes is decent at all. Only the 6'5" DR Congo U-23 player and a 15 year old in this years intake. I've already brought 5 of the recent intake players into sub-rotation for the first team. Luckily I have probably 2-3 seasons left on the legacy legs for my offence which should be sufficient to transform the youngsters into starters. The season is going to be all about pulling off upset ties like the 0-0 against Andelechet where my GK got a 8.8 Rating. As long as I'm not dead last I have a chance.

3rd attempt at the challenge and my first season surviving. Took about 1/3rd of the season to figure the right tactics out. Had I done that I may have hit the automatic promotion. As it was I lucked into 3rd place on the last day of the regular season. Lost the playoff match on aggregate 2-0.

Losing two starters that wouldn't resign and two depth players to retirement. Still optimistic of a strong follow up season.

2024 Nantwich Town Youth Intake

This is the last class of the old Head of Youth Development.  The 2025 class will be Mark Robinson's first class.

ABSQUE LABORE NIHIL

WITHOUT WORK, NOTHING

Introducing the mighty Stalybridge Celtic. Whilst their origin myth is somewhat murky they were definitely knocking a ball around by 1909. Despite their 110+ year history they have even less honours, medals and decorations than the Italian Army. Their annals record a number of seasons in the conference as the high watermark of their sporting excellence.

The class of 2022 have taken the first tentative steps towards righting that wrong with a workman like squad devoid of any talent somehow dragging themselves into the Conference North. Whilst they may lack talent, we have enough warm bodies to put out a team and a full bench…..that’ll do for me.

The facilities however are threadbare, the finances precarious, offering little prospect of making the improvements required to start producing potential football league prospects, however there is always hope that against all odds someone will make it your academy who can make a difference.

The plan then is to establish ourselves in the National League North for a season or 2, keeping hold of the players we have, squeezing every little bit of talent out of them we can, hopefully complimented by a couple of good prospects that will see us scrape through the play offs at some point and then rinse and repeat in the conference proper.

I anticipate the non league years to be long and hard, its only when League 2 status is attained and secured that a financial surplus can be put to good use allowing an acceleration of the challenge.

Season 1

My aggressive kick & rush 433 saw us open up with back to back 4-1 victories to set us on our way. Whilst results soon dropped off we always had a punchers chance and were able to keep picking up points to remain in mid table. We even flirted with a play-off spot never quite getting there until a dip in late season form saw us drop to mid-table. Overall, satisfied with our performance.

League.thumb.jpg.e05e92144aa1afec69ffcbd755095798.jpg

Intake 1

Despite the preview advising of only 1 decent Centre Back and 1 decent Striker (B rated), we ended up with a healthy intake of 9, five star talents. However, personalities were generally poor, I got rid of 2 unambitious personalities immediately (they are a lost cause in my eyes), leaving me with 4 showing low determination, disappointing but we can at least mentor these, and 3 with decent personalities.

All in all, pretty happy with this with the potential to improve our 1st team towards the back end of next season if they respond well to game time.

I immediately promoted 3 to the 1st team and gave them debuts, detailed below.

Season 2 preview

I will ensure my prospects get good game time so they have an opportunity to develop. I’ll keep a close eye on those in the under 18’s to see if any start to improve rapidly. Income from Cup runs is the difference between profit and loss at this level, so that will also be a focus.

As a closer I have a question: Which personality type do you guys use for mentoring Unambitious youth players? I've found it pretty hard to get them out of that mindset and haven't really discovered which type suits best.

As for Unambitious players, best you can do is to play them and then punish them every time they perform badly. There were a guide created by someone (sorry folks, I don't remember your usernames), adopted by @vikeologist which goes something like this. If they get 6.5, you give them an official warning for their poor performance. For 6.4 and 6.3, punish them with 1 day wages. For 6.2 or lower, take away their weekly salary. Their determination and/or work rate will improve tremendously, as will their personality. ,

That only improves the determination and work rate though.

Unambitious players are not necessarily a bad thing in this challenge. If you can get them to improve via determination and professionalism, without ambition, that might be helpful.

But if you do want to make them more ambitious, it's just mentoring and squad personality.

And it wasn't me that discovered it,. but I don't know who it was so can't credit them.

OFK Beograd - Year 5 (2026/27)

Tables 1 | Tables 2 | Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

I really enjoyed this season. I know I lost some players along the way that were making us play tremendously and we are back to square-one but honestly my favourite season to date.
It was pandemonium every game and that's what it is about! I don't care we literally repeated the same aftermath as last year but this one had so much more soul.
So many of the boys are growing into men and I am starting to feel the attachment already. Filip Maksic and Nemanja Pjevic (22C) were held on for another season and still leading the foundations for me really well.
Before the winter break it honestly looked like we were prepared for top-half play-offs.
Everything changed when the Red Star nation attacked...

Transfers | Finances

First they came for Gospavic (24E) and it didn't bother me. I'll just put Opacic (25C) up front, he'll still bang 'em.
Then they came for Opacic (25C)... and that's when sh*t hit the fan and we dropped places. I blame the president!
We were toothless again and it really showed. At least the coffers look better and I will definitely look toward investing again.
I let a truckload of kids go out on loan simply because I would rather them get some first team than just play friendlies.
I am not sure if this is the right move - I would DEFINITELY appreciate some guidance!

Preview | Intake 1 | Intake 2

I was left with no choice but hope the strike-force coming through were as good as the HOYD said they were. Kind of & kind of not. Short term pain for long term gain I think!
Apparently, Matija Simunovic (27A) is the better of the batch but to be honest I favour the Serbo-Corsican boy in Matteo Massiani (27B) as my heir to the striker's throne.
I think I let the exoticness get in the way of my objectiveness sometimes.

Healthy Crops:

Denis Savija (24L)
Did not think I would be here talking to you all today about someone in the class of '24 with a shining light but this kid deserves it.
Flew under the radar at the start but I gave him the spotlight. He shined. Welcome aboard to next year's plans, Denis.

Mitko Stojanov (25B)
I am telling you, those youth caps are handy. Helps them grow and step up to the first team level quicker.
I feel comfortable in the middle much more next season with this North Macedonian BEAST in the line-up.

Quit List:

L'Hospitalet - Youth Intake - April 2023

Not much in the way of PA for this group, however there are a couple players of note who came through the 2022 intake while holidaying.

At 6'5'', Aleix Pozuelo (23c) may have a future at ST (C). A Fairly Professional personality helps.

Kalifa Dia (22a) from last year's intake looks to have some solid PA. He has been playing ample first team minutes this season and has been performing well.

End of Season Review

Season 2022/23

SC Preußen Münster

Preußen Münster live score, schedule and results - Football - SofaScore

Season Summary

A season of triumph as we secured promotion on the final day as runners up.

Season Details

League Table - Fortuna Düsseldorf were on a different level to the rest of us so it was a race for second place and this was secured on the final day, though only on goal difference.

League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We were so consistent, churning out the wins and draws when we didn't deserve it.

Pre Season Friendlies - A tremendous pre season campaign where we were undefeated and won all of our games, except form one draw.

Squad - A decent squad that will only get better if the young players develop.

Squad Dynamics - Isn't it lovely?

Transfers In - None.

Transfers Out - Two youngsters who I don't feel will make the grade were sold for modest transfer fees.

Youth Candidates - A cracking intake with Tim Starke YP23B2 looking like a terrific prospect.

Finances - We may be in the red, but this won't last as the prize money from the second tier is huge.

Key Players

Luke Hemmerich - Attacking full back who was our best player this season.

Nicolai Remberg - Still aged only twenty two, the central midfielder should be an automatic selection for years to come.

Julian Schauerte - Versatile right back who can also play in midfield, he was invaluable this year.

Robin Ziegele - An absolute rock at the heart of the defence.

Jules Schwadorf - Winger who can play on either side, he was exceptional until a serious hip injury put him out for a few months.

Next Season

A safe, mid table finish would be lovely.

Vanarama National League North

2027/28 (season 6)

Season Summary

I forgot just how much of a slog England can be in these early seasons. On paper another pretty successful season but in reality we're just treading water at the minute

League - We were pretty good for the most part. We got into the play-off spots early doors and stayed there right through til March, when an awful run of 7 games with no wins saw us drop out to 8. But then we rallied to go unbeaten for the last 7 games of the season, finishing with a really good victory against the Champions Boston to end up 5th and head into a second successive play-off campaign.

28leaguetabel.JPG.2256880a2d26b217ea1e91c5a02ebec5.JPG

First up were Stalybridge Celtic at home, who we beat comfortably 2-0. That put us into the semi-final, away at Spennymoor who had had a great camaign. They continued that by hammering us 4-0. So, for the second season in a row, we had to bow out at the semi-final stage

Players

We're almost at that stage where all our legacy players have gone. Nathan Dyer will still be with us for a couple more seasons and Jonny Burn keeps on performing so will keep playing but other than that the core of the team is now youth players

28bestXI.JPG.bdb36c1829d2dd19da8261449d293996.JPG

Michael Gallagher 24A had a poor season compared to last season. After 15 league games he'd only scored 2. He improved as the season went on but was way below the standards he set last season

George McCleery 25A is our best player on paper but aso struggled compared to the older players in the team. I really need him to step up next season!

Youth

Another very nice preview. Adequate youth intakes are a very nice level for this division. Hopefully it will get us out eventually....

28youthpreview.JPG.83f1cae4fe7b2a9769333727773ab705.JPG

I'll take a 5 star intake all day long! Only goalkeepers and Attacking midfielder above an E grade though. Still, could be worse

The intake was pretty good really. Really nice variety of nationalities in there, which is always nice, and some good personalities and determination/work rate too. Justin Stevens is the obvious standout and he went straight into the first team

28youthintake.JPG.f3f7505b1defe794e143ea3d6932528a.JPG

Those physicals at 16 in this level are very nice, as is that teamwork/work rate.

Finances and Upgrades

I'm still managing money pretty well but the board wouldn't throw me a fricking bone this season. Unless you count the first continental coaching badge, they did give me that to be fair

Career

It's just a case of plodding along until I can get back out of this division! can't believe I already did it once and have to do it again. These first two leagues are easily the most difficult in this challenge.

looks like it might be newGAN manager. I use it on my save and it is great!

Just tested it myself , i'm a bit old school about giving a regen a fake (but a downloaded fake) face but this would save me a lot of time.  Do you replace only the faces after every intake from your own team ? or do you do a player search and do it for all the new players from every club after intake dates ?

I started doing it just from my team but I've started doing all the new players available after my intake comes in. It doesn't take too much longer at all really.

I was old school about the fake faces as well but this tool is by far the best I've ever seen. Save hours of work! The best thing about it is it keeps ethnicities the same, which really helps with immersion too. Never used a facepack that was capable of doing that before.

yes it is very very good. Thanks for the feedback. One last question , if you do the player search with filter 'newgen' you get every newgen, also the ones you did last year of the years before. Will those players get another face after every time I generate them ?   Are you also doing it for staff ? (sorry two questions :))
