WhiteCat33 Posted October 27, 2021 Share Posted October 27, 2021 RAAL La Louviere - Pro League B 2025/26 (Season 4) Season Performance Continuing from the midseason update we did okay but sadly not good enough to clinch a playoff birth. In what was emblematic of the entire season we could have moved into playoffs with a win in the final match of the season. Instead we lost 0-1 with an xG of 1.87 vs .82 with almost the entirety of their value coming from giving up a gimme chance due to defensive errors in the second half after fully dominating the first half. While the teams around us are getting on average better defensively we just haven't gotten the offensive intakes necessary to keep up. And when they do they get taken away. So now this is twice we've finished 3rd in the league and one second place. Tantalizingly close, but just not quite there. Looking at the Data Hub you can see just how badly we underscored and how many points that dropped us, but also how bad our defensive graph is. Just an all in all bad season even if we were close to the top at the end of it. Youth Intake We got a decent crop of players overall though it is less elite players (4) than previous years (7/8) so I take it that is the effect of the poaching. While a few are decent the one to talk about is J. Kiala 26B who is a towering 6'5" CB that is already better than my legacy CB! This is a coup for the team. He will be going directly into the starting 11, which will be an all youth defense. Hopefully he can have some decent consistency being only 15, but paired with the best player in the league in the center this should significantly improve my defense, which was really leaky this year. Sadly all the strikers aren't good enough to challenge into the first team so I'm stuck with rotating AMs through. Also the CMs they said would be the top prospects really aren't good and most have bad personalities so I'm not hopeful there. Star Youth Players Christ Makengo 24e (my CB) won the acolytes this year. He is not only the team player of the year but the Pro B Player of the Year as well. He set the Pro B record for POM awards at 8, got 6 goals and 4 assists with a 7.45 rating. Naturally he is in the Pro B season best 11 as well with a performance like that. While his stats have developed well truly his biggest gain is in height as he was 5'10" at intake, but now at 6' he's not a liability from a height perspective. Isaac Kromah 23a (my BBM) had a good season but not good enough to get picked for any league awards. Here it has been a big increase in stats as well as a personality bump from fairly professional to Resolute. This season he was my Vice captian and his leadership has continued to increase from it. Because I wasn't able to advance to Pro A both of these star youth players are pissed and are throwing tantrums to leave. I have them signed for 2 more seasons so next year is the last year I have before I have to sell them off to clubs if the board doesn't beat me to it first. Their value ranges go up to 1.3 M so I pray that will at least make it be a reasonable offer when they get poached. Both have developed extremely well and are hands down the best players on the pitch now. This brings me to the first big transfer decision of the save. Do I try and hold on to them risking the board behaving badly or do I sell them now and lock in 50% profit clauses on the sales. Assuming I should be able to sell at the top of the range that is 3 M today with high potential for some down the line. That would fix the finances and hopefully let me convince the board to upgrade my youth recruitment (adequate) and junior coaching (good). While neither have min fee release clauses they both have 3.5 M relegation fee release clauses, so if we go up and come back down that's about where they would get picked off most likely as their contracts will get extended 3 years with promotion. By selling them of course I then flip from a promotion challenge to fighting to not get relegated. The only reason I'm tempted to cash in is because my offensive development is stagnant, keeping them I'm betting on defensive improvement and a return to offensive consistency and of course overcoming board idiocy. Manager Thoughts At this point in the save I'm starting to realize the end of my old top players. Even though M Sourme got the most goals this season it was a measly 7 and he will not be starting come Fall. I'll probably transfer him and get some money out of the deal and bring in a 16 year old who looks promising. Then it will be decision time if I go for it or shore up the club financially which is currently at -$700k cash balance. With my transfers last season I was able to keep the bleeding to only a -$50k loss for the season. And that will be Njarðvík's debut at top flight! League Cup - decent warmup with two draws against top division clubs (including the defending champions KR) and 3rd place in the group. Iceland Cup - defeated two teams from our division and dominated the game against top league IBV, but they scored two from corners and went through. Transfers - Hakonarson left us before the league start, and so far we didn't notice his departure (though it will be much harder in top division). Squad stats - no one hit double digits in goals or assists Hlynur Magnusson became the top goalscorer despite being a bench player initially and then mostly playing in midfield as a mezzala. Plazonic is our set piece master, so his 9 assists weren't a surprise. McAusland and Bjarnarson were really solid defensively and scored some headers from set pieces. Youth intake (preview) A.S.Þorsteinsson *22a | Arnarson *22b |A.Þ.Þorsteinsson *22c | Jósefsson *22d | Pálsson *22e | Sævarsson *22f | Daníelsson *22g | Elíasson *22h The first intake, brought by Santiago Canizares (he's surely better than our actual HOYD), looks really promising. Two strikers who can replace Hogg in nearest future, versatile midfielder, perfectionist right winger and several more 5-star potential players. Yes, that says more about our current level, but I hope at least some players from this intake will help us in the top division. By the way, I fielded some of these youngsters for the final league game, and the most promising striker A.S.Þorsteinsson... was sent off after 20 minutes, what a debut Finances are a big concern here, and our training facilities already faced a downgrade. The expectation has been to fight against relegation though so we are still overachieving!! Once safety was assured I started playing the next generation of youngsters with a view to using them more regularly next season and we finally saw a fairly good looking CB in Paulo Quintino come through the ranks in our youth intake: The biggest problem we face now is that Cortez has outgrown the club and only has a year left on his contract, and doesn't want to sign a new deal. Overall Best 11 Keaton Mulvey was the main man this season with 18 goals. Honourable mentions to Regan Linney and Curtis Main who also got over 10 goals each for the season. I know we don't have enough depth to push for promotion and despite early promises of being proven wrong, the fatigue hit hard with my high intense style of play. Transfers | Finances So many OFK Beograd graduates all around the world keep this team afloat every season with transfer percentage royalties. I have to keep this trend going by making sure I get sale percentages on every poach. Only one poach this time and to be honest, I wasn't too phased by it as he honestly played like sh*t the times he did come on. Preview | Intake My youth squad is a tropical rainforest - a sh*tfight for sunlight, Whoever grows the most to survive - is granted more chances to thrive. Healthy Crops: One from each graduate class: Nemanja Pjevic (22C) - I know, I know, not technically from my tenure but I have put full faith into him to be a leader in the dressing room and in-between the sticks. I had so many ridiculous poachers from the league above after he made it into the Serbian youth squad, they want to try and make him a back-up keeper. Gave him the kitchen sink to stay as my star and he has bought-in to my vision. Stoked. Zoran Belic (23C) - Was rather short on the DC front and this lad did the job for me, for now.... Milisav Gospavic (24E) - I am not sure whether to make him my future dependent up-front or re-train him to be a right midfielder but am happy with those physicals at this level. Sorry for the slow turnaround. This is my first FM being a father and having a full-time job at the same time, so to be completely honest I have to streamline the way I approach this save. A third one will leave at the end of the season, and it hurts a bit as it is my GK. "exploring options" Season was quiet. I noticed improvement with only 1 youth from the first YI. YI shows a lot of stars again, but most of them won't improve. If some results went our way especially in the beginning of the season, we could have made it to the Primera Division. Youths Preview Intake Juan Pablo is a midfielder with an unambitious personality. He has good work rate and leadership and also some good physical stats. He will be retrained as a Volante but will also serve as Mezzala when needed. Duad is a professional central defender who unfortunately is only 179cm tall, although his Jumping Reach is already quite good for his level. He is a very fit player and I have high hopes I can convert him into a good Ball playing defender Mario is quite an enigma. He has very low determination and natural fitness, however has brilliant mentals for his age. His ideal role is a good destructor of the play however I do not use any player like that in my tactics. I will try to convert him either in a Half Back or a Deep Lying Playmaker on defend duties A promising goalkeeper however unfortunately I already have a lot of first class keepers who are still very young, so I doubt he will ever make it to the first team. Angelo is a balanced right winger, who does not excel in anything yet. Ideally will try to convert into an Inside Forward on the left, however his 3 finishing and 5 balance is worrying. Not a lot of high hopes for this player. Ayax is a low determined left full back, who has very good natural fitness and very good decisions already. We did it guys, we are up to the top flight! We started off wonderfully and developed some great chemistry with the youngbloods coming through. Very proud of the defence this season, we only conceded 1 goal for the first 8 games. The Goalkeepers despite their age, all rotated well phenomenally. Our main man Pjevic (22C) dipped in and out due to international duties and the backups did awesome. Shout-out to Filip Bozic, Filip Maksic & Dragomir Tripic who I have been pestered non-stop to sway away from the club It set the standard for the rest of the season even when we had our dips in the mid-season. The winter break was a blessing and helped us remain in play-off contention until the very end. We left it until the final minutes of extra time to understand our fate but honestly it was so worth it. This is what it is all about. I started off with an amazing squad and have slowly been losing key figures here and there but I feel like this is where the real hard work begins... Transfers |Finances Oh my goodness I HATE VOZDOVAC. LEAVE ME ALONE YOU !@@#$)@(#)@)#@. I swear they are giving my president more than a price-tag under the table because I get no frickin' say. It's always an offer he can't refuse. Preview | Intake I got a few boys worth talking about in the top half - Ned Baljak (25A) & Alen Opacic (25C) coming through. Got a North Macedonian in the guts with Mitko Stojanov (25B). To wrap it up at the back, I got a GK that won't make me feel bad if Pjevic leaves me next window with the wonderfully named Zoran Apostolovic (25E) Healthy Crops: Class of '23 Zoran Belic (23C) - The definition of right place, right time. Honestly wouldn't go for him if I wasn't damn short of depth but he does okay! Class of '24 Milisav Gospavic (24E) - All my wonderful prospects of '24 got poached by either Vozdovac (again) or Crvena Zvezda so this guy is my little slither of hope for this year group. Now, it seems like I don't have any control over this B side except that I can sign staff for it. The problem is that this B side can do transfers and they can be brought into my team without it being an actual transfer (which I am not doing by the way). Another thing is that my youth players from U19 sometimes get picked for that team and when you look in their history, any B team games count towards their stats as Main team. From what i saw, it seems heavy loss every season are the norm. I'm losing alot of money every year. My board just force sold my top player. My payroll was just cut. However, I was fortunate though that I had a team that had good facilities so I have a good starting point. I'm just hoping that we can create enough good players to get to the Premier Division where hopefully some money will start coming in.
