What's that? A new Wishlist Thread? What you would like to see in future FM versions.

I would like messages about clubs that want to steal your staff or players with a price clausule in their contract to become more prominent. It happens a lot that I just read over them without noticing. If they would turn up red, just like normal transfer messages, I would notice them and have a chance to offer my staff member/player an improved contract.

The other day I downloaded FIFA Manager 2012 demo to see how far away it is to FM12, and today I installed it and have had a bit of a play and I've got to say its a lot better than I thought it was going to be, navigating around the screens is a bit confusing but its probably because I'm so used to how FM works, theres 2 sections I have seen that I really like though and would like to see in FM14.

The first is the ability to place a player in any area of the tactical pitch (a thing FM use to have but disappeared when the tactical creator was introduced) The current tactics set up is too rigid, give us something that will allow us to create custom formations and tactics, ie give us the option to set where a player runs to with and without the ball (again another thing older FM versions had)

The second feature is the match Engine FIFA Managers makes FM12 look like its antique, now I don't expect to FM to go to the extremes of which FIFA (ie replicating players faces and close ups) has but increase the size and detail of the players and improve the detail with the pitch and stadium. 2 other things I liked in the match was the managers POV and the highlights at the end of the match being played (nice touch)

I've only played FIFA Manager for about an hour but from what I've seen from the 2012 version they seem to be closing the gap between themselves and FM so if I was you guys (SI Games) I would pull my finger out of my arse and start working on whats wrong with FM and start catching up with FIFA in the ME department before they overtake you in the gameplay department.

Just a thought, but in the text that gets shown alongside the action (at the bottom of the screen, but you know what I mean), maybe there should be more variety.

For example, your team is losing with a couple of minutes to go, needing a point to win promotion, it should for example say "team X are really going to have to go gung ho here and launch it if they're to get the point they so badly need for promotion" or something similar. Same goes for relegation.

Also saying "if team X can just hold onto the lead, they'll be safe". I appreciate it can be awkward because you have other games going on at the same time, but surely it could be implemented somehow?

Also, how about at the end of an important game (say you've managed to stay up) you get a message in the live text along the lines of "and the team X fans jump with delight as the final whistle goes, they've managed to survive on the final day by the skin of their teeth" or "team X fans are on the pitch, they've won the league despite today's defeat, they can look forward to facing new teams and new challenges next season".

Another example being if you win a cup game and it's a big upset having it say "that was a gutsy performance, but they've held on and caused a big upset here against team X". Just a thought anyway.

Oh and also, what about if your team is under the cosh, yet go and score? Something like "that's really gone against the run of play", and vice versa, if you've been dominating and you finally score, something like "that goal has been coming for a while, and it's finally arrived"

I'd also like to see the ability to break down the graphs you get that depict the fluctuations in the level of certain stats Attribute Developments on the Training tab. As in when a new player comes, because of his short time at the club you can see more directly how your changing in certain training aspects have directing affected certain attributes. When a player has been at your club for a long time in get condensed, right so, but this means unless an attribute on the graph is directly on its way up at the time you check you can't be exactly sure how much your changes have affected the player.

So it would be good to be able to have a month by month less condensed graph as well as the ones you get at the moment after a player has been at your club for a long time.

Tactical Improvements (Being able to implement a Libero properly, press properly, play proper Barca football, more fluidity and options etc). Do annoying that you can't get your team playing the way you want them because the ME needs improving. Also even more control over youth recruitment so you can set up academies in certain areas.

i'd like to see mic being intergrated into the game so you shouts instructions etc here are some examples you could shout hassle oppenents and it would apply that tactic you also shout mentality attacking, defensive etc and it would implement that change you can also use to make subs by shouting 'make sub' followed fby player 'name/squad number for player 'name/squad number

1. PPM: gets crowd going, likes to beat man repeatedly, tries tricks, uses outside of foot, winds up opponents.

2. Staffs 3D model and animation (such as the manager shouting players giving instruction) in the 3D match engine.

3. Manager given yellow or red card by a referee in the 3D match engine.

4. Injured player carried by a stretcher in the 3D match engine.

5. Ambulance car entering the field to pick injured player in the 3D match engine.

6. The captain lift the trophy when winning certain championship in the 3D match engine.

Its probably been suggested numerous times, but perhaps us as managers can be added to the list of coaches that can be assigned a training session type, but perhaps at a cost.

The cost I was thinking of is that if we're assigned to a training session we are limited in the number of transfer deals, contract negotiation, player interaction and other non-press conference media interaction.

It will add a little micro-management where duriing a transfer window we might want to remove us from the training session to be able to make unlimited transfer approaches and contract negotiations. At higher levels our clubs can afford extra coaches so that we can play as it is now, but at lower levels we effectively get another body coaching, but at a cost.

Perhaps this can tie in with a previously made suggestion of using our wages to pay for trainign courses to increase out attributes.

Also there could be a little RPG element where when we select our previous experience (e.g. sunday league footballer) we can also pick a position we played in and that is used to help determine our starting coaching attributes. Or perhaps even have a few points we can spend on our attributes.

I don't know if this has been brought up before but I'd really like a chance to the Manager history when starting a new game. It's great to be a previous footballer or not but I'd be pretty happy if there was an option of having a coaching history. Something like "long-term coach for team X" or "Journeyman coach". Perhaps not this but certainly something that tells the players that I have a history of being involved in the game even if it wasn't a footballer (Like Clarke, AVB, Mourinho etc).

I would like purchasing players to be more of a challenge. By that, I mean of course not being able to buy every star midfielder under the sun. The way it is at the moment is that you can pick up any free transfer star player, buy any star player and more often than not they come to your club. It doesn't matter that you have 8 star strikers or 10 star midfielders, they will come if you offer the required amount of money etc.

What I would like to see is that when negotiating a new contract with player, is that the player and/or agent states whether they see themselves playing first team football regularly as they see that 'player A and B also play there. This has to be more of a challenge. It is not good enough setting "key player" and then winning your bid. The player has to receive proper reassurances and then uses their own intelligence to decide whether its worth coming to your club or not as star player A plays as DMC and is first choice.

Hope it makes sense. :)

Something I posted in a thread about small clubs getting promoted to the Prem and being stuck on a small stadium:

I would like to see a compromise where the club may decide to ground-share with a larger club or temporarily move to an unused/national stadium within a certain geographical distance away from home. (For instance here in Brisbane there are two largish stadiums in Brisbane in the db but unused but clubs - the Queensland Athletics ground and Ballymore- not that the Roar would move).

There could be a chance such a move will have a short- to medium- term negative impact on the fans, which may be overcome by continued relative success. There could also be individual club owners who may decide the club should never leave their local ground/area, and may place supporting the local community above grand plans to reach the Champions League - ie decide never to move the club and be reluctant to build a stadium, so you have to hope you get successful and taken over, or leave the club for somewhere more ambitious.

If the club continues on its merry way up the league, the club may then decide to build a stadium or greatly redevelop their original stadium and return home. If relegation happens the club may decide to return to their original stadium, especially if they had not own it and were renting.

I think that we should be able to actually become friend with managers, instead of just them saying feels we could become friends. whilst in the game we should be able to add favoured personnel to ours as you do get attached to players , and also favoured clubs if you have been at a club for so long and now like them,

I think player power is not enough in the game too and needs to be adressed if a player wants to leave they leave, and the club is forced to negotiate, e.g. in my game there is a left back I want from chelsea I am real madrid. he is valued at £12m I have offered £40m however chelsea still reject it I think that is a more than fair price, and when I have said in the media I will do everything in my power to sign him, he has said Real are a club every player dreams of playing for, Yet when I put in the bid he doesnt force the move, more player power, beacuse players have all the power in real life.

I reckon you should allow a feature to tap up players by speaking to their agents directly and telling them to influence a move, if you are caught you are fined but let's be honest, as dishonest as this addition sounds we all know this is what goes on in real life.

If for example I put youth player with someone fairly good as tutor to improve his game, will his PA increase?. If it's not like that, I think that will be a nice improvement. If bad player have a world class tutor, he should turn into an average or reasonable player, increasing his PA.

I think it is very easy to add a country/league check when the board decide to expand their stadium. EPL and UEFA comps do not allow standing during the match, while standing seats is a feature in Germany. So the German clubs should not covert their stadiums into all-seated ones as they do in the game.

Amateurr contracts are frustrating in the game when a player moves from one amateur team to another. I'm not sure if players can just move around IRL but in other sports there are rules against moving from one amateur team to another within the same division/league.

Also, as a realism-obsessed FM player, I think it would be GREAT to be able to add, remove or edit names from the name pool for newgens via the game editor. This could be made in CM01/02, but don't know why the developers didn't include the option on later versions.

Also, it would be very fine to be able to set some names for specific local regions (like Catalan or Basque names in Spain, for example) or for specific ethnicities (for example, I've seen some White South African newgens with Zulu names, which isn't realistic at all).

That makes it two us wanting the same thing.

And as usual, I want better AI handling and patience with talents. Too often do AI teams let players with great PA rot in the reserves and eventually sell them to a random scottish team. Too often do AI teams transfer list 18-19 year old players in their youth teams. Do they really do that in real life? I bet they have more patience.

Not only the AI but my own Assman or scouts are disregarding the talents in the youth ranks.

Just thought of something while reading report on an under 21's fixture tonight

I think it would be nice if it was taken note of for managers watching other games such as the youth games or next opponents. This could help a managers determination and tactical attribute as well as being a contribution to how lazy or not the fans think the manager is.

I for one hardly ever watch any other games although I always check the results and statistics but would definitely watch more if i knew it contributed to how we were viewed as managers overall.

With the inclusion of new staff roles in FM (Chief Scouts, Heads of Youth Development, Directors of Football etc.) I'd like SI to take this even further in future FM's and allow us to recruit Head Coaches and Heads of other important areas: fitness, player health and sports science.

The idea would be to enhance and expand the way a manage controls and shapes a club.

With Ryan Giggs' yoga based longevity, the success of the Milan labs, Valeri Lobanovskyi's revolutionary scientific methods with Dynamo, Man City's vaunted new sports science facilities, GPS monitoring on the pitch and in training and the legions of analysts, nutritionists, sports scientists and other specialists at modern clubs, I think this is an area ripe for inclusion in future FMs - after all, it's becoming an even bigger and important part of football in the real world today!

Adding such specialists to your backroom staff would also allow managers to customise and restructure clubs behind-the-scene in their image/vision.

There would also be risks for the reward too however with some players unhappy about extra training/session, intrusion on their lifestyles etc. just like any extra training or discipline. Overbearing methods too should carry physical risks such as injury. The rewards of well designed, funded and run extra facilities and teams would be worth it however!

I've written my thoughts on this "wish" in a thread here: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/301789-Sports-scientists-nutritionists-etc-in-future-FM-s

antfm08 posted a similar idea in this topics here, which contains some great debate and ideas from other users: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/311455-Sport-Science-in-FM.-Could-it-work?p=7988876#post7988876

I have not read all the ideas or pages so might be said but i would like to see a top ten list of some of the current records page for clubs/competitions....ie Top 10 most appearances, Top 10 scorers etc. There is no reason, and not sure what it will add to the game much but I'd like it.

Then again i think one of the best aesthetic adds to the game in recent years is the 'biography' page for players and managers and keep player records after retirement tick box.

Top of my wishlist, without doubt would be the ability to add saves from old game in to new versions of FM....

I'm fed up of starting all over again!

Impossible, wish all you want it ain't going to happen. Don't understand it either, why would you want to carry on when you could just carry on on the version you've got?

I like this idea because you could put it into the game commentary or have it pop up in game ('Edwards has just become the 8th top goalscorer in club history')

Extremely difficult but perhaps not impossible?

SI would have to design a way to transfer a game (which could only work on the reset date of a league) into a databse type file for the new FM to be able to read. Then it would be a matter of importing this database as a locked starting point for a new game. Essentially you're not transferring the game, you're simply starting a new game in the new version of FM with a database that mirrors the events that occurred in your previous save. That's the way I would theoretically do it in any case.

However saying that, I would bet any amount that SI don't do this. The only time this appeals to me is when I load up an old version of FM (because I want that database) and realise how I miss x function or y change.

There was an official response from Neil Brock (I think) in a recent thread that said transferring saves would never happen due to the amount of tweaks to how the database is used, rule changes, groundwork for long-term future developments and other elements that wouldn't be compatible in any foreseeable way.

Shame as I'm sure a lot of people would like to keep a super long-term game going, almost like that guy that played CivII for an in-game millennia or something crazy.

Job interviews. I admit if you think about it for more than half a minute it sounds a bit pointless but if they based the questions around how you did so well at this club, and why weren't you successful there?, what are you going to do tactically (i.e plan to carry on the style, or innovate) how much money would be needed, as well as other questions I think it would work. Obviously it might be hard to code or whatever.

I personally find it hard after the first few seasons when regens are the superstars to find out about them, I think its the news system it makes me feel disconnected from the world off football. Maybe more news that isn't related to your club finding its way on to ui somewhere, like maybe more pre game stuff where it mentions specific player, I know it has that but it could have more or something. This point I have way over complicated but you I think it would make the game feel more real

That's why I described my theory the way I did. Now I completely accept that turning a save game into an edited database would probably be a programming nightmare but if SI ever wanted to do it then that could be a possible way. Essentially telling the next FM to start game in X-year with all teams have y-squads But like I said, that's really just a thought experiment on something that just won't happen. :D

Board consulting you over new stadium's name. In the left column they give you notable club players, managers names, or geographic region, or even club name - let's take Chelsea for example: Zola, Drogba, Mourinho, West London, Chelsea, etc... and in the right column they give you usual stadium names: Road, Park, Arena, Stadium, etc... and it's up to you to combine left and right column to suggest new stadium's name, eg. Drogba Park, Mourinho Arena, West London Road etc...

The code for certain leagues in the game changes and that is actual game code, which cannot be adapted. It's not just a database they're changing it would actually be a core part of the new game. :D

Ok, how about providing a personal tactics settings function, which is used for saving a single player's player instructions for each player in your squad, so that we don't have to change or tweak slider by slider the player instructions in a tactics screen when a substitution is made, provided the player substituted on has a preset player instructions by us (the manager). And normally for example we can be allowed to configure 3 sets of player instructions for a player, because you might want the player to play in three different positions such as ST(his main position), AMC(second role) and AMR(third role). And imo the saves of these personal tactics instructions should bedesigned to function solely and uneffected, as it is a function similar to arranging a personal training schedule for each player, and the currently player instructions should be renamed and functioning as a positional instructions for each position in the tactics and the preset personal tactics instructions should override the positional instructions generally set in a tactics. The benefits would be that: the main tactics setting for the team can still work fine as it has always been now, and when a first team player is injured or banned, we switch him with a rotation player without need to touch the tactics setting because the rotation player already has his own preset personal tactics instructions, he doesn't need to care about the first team player's instructions, he just needs to focus on the team instructions and his own preset instructions, thus brings convenience to us human players as well, because i always find tweaking sliders (instructions) everytime changing or substituting a player is quite inconvenient and i may worry about losing or forgetting the last time tested good personal instructions set for the player.

For example, my team plays 4-4-2, in the team instructions i can set how want the team to play as a whole, and in the player instructions section I may set for Right Winger the instructions for him to do what normally a winger should do, like, run with ball often, cuting inside, cross normal, through ball normal, mentality attacking, run forward always, and everything works fine on the pitch becasue say the starter is C.Ronaldo that I assigned, and during the match, in second half, C.Ronaldo is injured and has to be substitued, then I tell D.Beckham to substitute on, so basically I don't have to tell Beckham in detail what he should do on the pitch after replacing C.Ronaldo. He should know already what he should do as I preset in his personal instructions which is well trained and excersised in daily training. So my preset instructions for Beckham is run with ball rarely, hug line, cross always, through ball always, mentality normal, run forward normal, and everyting still works fine after a substituted Beckham on.

1. This!!!....Individual "pre-made" player instructions is something I have been asking for years, and years, and years. Why do I have to change my tactical instructions when I do a substitute to suit the subs skills? Surely he knows what he needs to do? I have got to the stage of making notes on each player, so when I do have him playing in a certain position, I know the instructions I have to give him. Would be so so much easier if these instructions able to be saved and recognized by the game when he plays in a certain position.

2. Having the option to change clubs at the END of the current season or at least have this as a possible option when being approched by another club, especially when you are coming to the end of your current contract.

'The Wolves board have approached you about the possibility of becoming their manager for the 2015/16 season. They understand that you are committed to your current club until June 2015, and are willing to wait until your current contract expires'.

There has been endless times where I have been offered a new job at a higher club, but it is always mid-season and I have to take the job NOW. Currently I can't even reply that I am very interested, but have to decline as I can't jump ship right at the moment as we are about to play the quarter final of the FA Cup, but would definitely take on the job at the start of the new season. It is either yes, I will take it the job now, or No I am not interested. Life is not that black & white.

That's not true is it? There is a 'Delay' button, which will ask if you want to delay for a week or until the end of the season. The End of the Season option is sometimes greyed out if the game decided you're not close enough, which I guess could be altered, but the option is definitely there.

I've been through the entire thread and most of the clever suggestions have been taken into account and implemented in FM13 :applause: SI!

I'll add however some features I believe would benefit to future versions of the game we all love, and support a few already mentioned that I believe are not present in FM13.

- Randomly slightly change all PA at every new game (especially of youngsters), so that you cannot count anymore on an anonymous youngster turning into a world-class player because of your previous game. The general level would still be similar, but with enough variation to have a different experience every time.

- Some random events occuring during the game that could spice it up, making it more realistic: a new national tax policy after elections (higher or lower), a league format change (from 20 to 18 clubs for example, or other variations), hooliganism & other fans actions (that would result in a fine for the club, points deducted in the league, empty stadium for the next game, etc), players out-of-field events (caught up in an accident, broke the law, bet against his own club, etc), and many other events are possible.

- Allow an in-game 'editor' where we can change our kits every season. (especially that, as teams change their kits every season, it is not very realistic that they stay the same for decades in FM)

- A 'virtual' trophy room

- Players celebrating and lifting the trophy in the 3d view

- One of the problems I have noticed in FM12 (maybe corrected in FM13) is that there are too few wonderkids, especially at the beginning of the game. Once the current stars retire, the global level drops as too few players are able to fill their shoes.

- As a few have already said, the quality of the regens you get is too poor and too random: you can have the best facilities in the world and still have hopeless youngsters. 90% of them would have no future whatsoever, 5% as possible back-ups to the first team and only 5% could break into the first team. That's way too low, especially when you see Barcelona, Ajax and other big clubs with a high quality to their youngsters and the culture of bringing a lot of them into the first team.

- The option to permanently lock out options from a contract, such as telling them that no you will never give a "match highest earner" clause. (also matters for release clauses)

- Additional bonuses such as an assists bonus, a man of the match bonus, etc.

- More interaction with a player if talks aren't working through private chat such as "your agent demanded too high a fee", "your bonus demands were too excessive", "if you want to remain at this club then you will have to lower your demands".

I'd like to add to this last point that you could hint to a player that his agent is preventing you from (re)signing him, thus pressuring the player to either pressure himself his agent to lower his demands or to even fire him, provided he of course is interested in (re)signing at your club.

- Increased managerial control: over the stadium and the sales (or hire a stadium/marketing manager to do it for you instead). In FM98 you had the upper hand on such matters and if would add depth to the non-football management part of the game. Included here, we could negotiate our sponsor contracts ourselves.

- More precision over the level/details of facilities you ask for in board meetings: it is very frustrating to have excellent finances but imperfect facilities (18 or 19) while your board does not even let the subject of improving the facilities to the best standard be discussed. And also, allow us to ask for a drastic improvement of the facilities so that we would not have to wait months before re-asking the board the same thing.

- The possibility of buying a player and loaning them back to the club you've bought them from for the rest of the season (or two, or half)

- Fans association(s), with a similar treatment as with the board: they'd have expectations, would ask from you to play someone or to dump another they don't like, etc... They could ask for Fans days, free tickets, a cut in the tickets price, etc.

- An option to ask for a game to be postponed if too many of your players are unavailable (international call-ups or epidemy). It is frustrating to lose a game in such cases while in real life most of the time such requests are accepted.

- add spoken languages to the manager profile at creation
- evolving rivalries (recurrent title challengers become rivals)

- New game modes if possible: create your own club (I really insist as that would totally be in the managerial spirit to start something from scratch) and/or be a manager/player (I do not really care about that actually, but other players maybe)

A few small things to implement from me for future releases.

1. Save your set piece creations so instead of creating each time, you can just load your already set up routines and just tweak the players in the roles.

2. An automatic fine system you can set in the Team Policy screen. ie. Definite Straight Red Card - Auto 1 week fine, Failure to turn up for training - Auto 1 week fine etc.

3. Opting to choose whether to open/close the stadium roof when possible and when closed, the external conditions are not affecting the game. I've played as Ajax for 6 seasons now in FM12 and more than a few times, with the roof closed at the AA i've seen things like "The ball holds up in a puddle" or there is snow on the pitch in 3D mode etc.

4. An option in contract negotiation to lock out certain options. You can lock in a value so it cannot be negotiated but you can't lock out a value so it can no longer be suggested, ie 15% wage increase. I keep removing it, they keep adding it in. Saying its off the table would be great.

it's not normal to know a player after 2 days, and too easy to find very good player, specially in south america and africa.

The CM 2010 system was a good start with the "range system".

ex: scout a player, and in his caracteristic you see: stamina: 7 -18, wich mean it's between 7 and 18.

and more good are your scoots, more right are the prediction.

Small team with poor scoot would never get the right caracteristic, just range, so we are more able to get a bad player and fail.

I think it's not a shame to check what others management games do. specially when it's good.

2 / The young formation system can be improved too, with a politic of formation.

actually when i play french team, the regens are far away close of the real world. I mean they are overrated and have technic and creativity!

we don't know these words in french formation. :brock:

This is in FM13, as was revealed in yesterdays vblog!

The amount of times ive wanted to sign a 'manager' by trade to be assistant but cant is unreal. It happens in RL. Guys can be a manager but also then become an assistant, but for a big club, like Man Utd, where Carlos Queiroz became assistant. You simply cant sign a manager on FM which is a shame when so many have decent stats...

ALSO, ive had trouble with FM12 in the way of being forced to make a coach a first team coach all because the board want a set number of coaches. You just make the guy a first team coach, you still pay the wages to them, and if you could say to the board you wont have first team coaches but general coaches instead so you want another coach rather than be restricted in such a way, that would be better.

To add to this, i had trouble with changing the staff members i set as first team coaches; they wouldnt accept for love nor money a change of contract to an overall coach. EVEN when i let them go out of their contract. Once they went first team, they stayed first team for life. Whats that about? This problem never used to be on older incarnations of the game. I think its probably similar with once a staff member has got it into their heads they want to be a manager and/or assistant and cant sign them to be a coach etc. even though it says they can be one of their profile.

Couple of interaction with player bits. When transfer listing a player in the last year of his contract and he wants a talk, telling him that is the reason he's being sold.

Also when a player comes to you and says he wants a new challenge, I want to tell him he has to put in a transfer request if he wants to go. In the current format you either promise him you will find him a new club (and therefore pay him his loyalty bonus), or tell him you are the boss and get him to force the issue, and I want that middle ground as well.

I would like to be able to negotiate with players when they demand money to move, and be able to say they can accept the lower contract or train with the youth team as they are never playing for me again.

Just a tiny thing. I would like to be able to distinguish wenn setting free-kick takers. In the current manner I don't even understand whether this applies to all free-kicks, to free-kick crosses only or to direct free-kicks only. From my understanding different attributes would be relevant for either kind.

That result in me just not making an according setting in the hope that the game will be smart enough to pick suitable players for taking the respective kicks.
