Suggy33
No Gibbs on standby and only one proper right back in the squad, which is Glen Johnson ffs.
DeafParrot
Oh dear. What a dreadful squad.
skybluedave
Was Beckham already at MLS in 2008? He wasn't at WC 2010 as a player. His last match was WC2006, when he was at Real Madrid. tbh you are right because that is the same game Hargreaves played when at Bayern.
Smallen
Pretty poor like, but oh well. Let's get behind the squad
Taz & The Devil
Well theres a squad that screams mediocre at best.

skybluedave
Maybe Carrick has secretly retired
H.O.V.I
That squad is so boring
Bootador
It's a bit depressing tbh.
Barry Cartman
For me it would be: Out Phil Jones Gary Cahill Stuart Downing James Milner Andy Caroll In Micah Richards Phil Jagielka Adam Johnson Michael Carrick Daniel Sturridge
davehanson
That's shocking to be honest. Downing should have been nowhere near the squad. And, no Michael Carrick? He isn't the greatest player, but is a lot better than Barry.
Leppard
I can see England starting like this: -------------Hart-------------- Johnson-Lescott-Terry-----Cole Walcott-Lampard-Parker-Gerrard --------Carroll--Defoe---------
Robbie S
Maybe Carrick has secretly retired There can be no other logical explanation for choosing Henderson ahead of him. None.
CaptainPlanet
Hart Johnson Lescott Terry Cole Walcott Gerrard Barry Downing Carroll Defoe

SOStriker
Pretty poor like, but oh well. Let's get behind the squad I've been getting behind this squad for the last 3 tournaments. It's all the usual suspects. I've got tables to flip...
Ricky Button
Downing? pahaha. Gerrard AND Lampard?
davehanson
I think he will possibly start Walcott up front with Carroll. Gerrard right midfield?
H.O.V.I
So tired of Gerrard and lampard, one should have been dropped for another defender.
Smallen
You can certainly tell we'll be set up well defensively from the squad.
skybluedave
Downing is disapointing, but lets not act shocked. He featured in every England game last year. Not sure how.
DeafParrot
Gerrard and Lampard is the least of our worries ffs. Welbeck, Defoe and Carroll? :/
Nottingham Forest
I can't. I can see England starting like this. ----------------------Hart-------------------- Jones-------Cahill----------Terry-------Cole -------------Gerrard------Parker------------ Walcott------------Lampard----------Milner --------------------Welbeck-----------------
Bootador
Out Green Jones Downing Ox Defoe Terry In Stockdale Jagielka Richards Carrick Johnson Ferdinand
Robbie S
I can't. I can see England starting like this. ----------------------Hart-------------------- Jones-------Cahill----------Terry-------Cole -------------Gerrard------Parker------------ Walcott------------Lampard----------Milner --------------------Welbeck----------------- I prefer that to the last suggestion. Roy is a pretty staunch 442 manager though.
CaptainPlanet
Downing the only left footed winger we have isn't he? (Johnson hasn't exactly had a run of games)
DanielM_90
Oh dear how Downing always gets in the squad is beyond me! Adam Johnson in over him all day! and would of also took Micah Richards and Carrick in over Henderson for standbyes atleast and possibly over Parker after his injury fears atm
paperclips
4-4 ****ing
SeanNUFC
. Welbeck, Defoe and Carroll? :/ Doesn't fill me with confidence, oh well, maybe they'll surprise us. Or maybe not. Don't think Roy's thought this through enough.
CaptainPlanet
Henderson over Carrick makes sense as a backup given the relative ages of the players and the fact that they're going to be like 5th choice anyway.
DeafParrot
Out Green Terry Ox Downing Defoe Carroll In Stockdale Richards Rio Lennon Bent Crouch

arenaross
Hmm, someone should think about playing Gerrard and Lampard together in central midfield.
Ricky Button
Have squad numbers been given out?
SeanNUFC
I'd take Carroll, but i dunno if we have enough strikers. Considering Rooney's suspended for 2 games...
Razzler
Carrick has never shown any form for England in the past, like a rabbit in headlights no matter what his club form at the time. I doubt he wants to be on standby either. I'd take Adam Johnson all day long over Downing for sure. Lennon misses out them, not sure if that's surprising at all, not really, I guess. I did say a couple of months back I thought Sturridge would miss out. We're all convinced Wellbeck to start the opening game but it may well be Defoe or even Carroll. No need to tinkering in the friendlies, Hodge should be knowing how he wants to play and instructing the players from now until tournament and trying to get close to that in those friendlies with perhaps a Plan B element to the Belgium game
Razzler
Hmm, someone should think about playing Gerrard and Lampard together in central midfield. Will it work though ...
elgreenio
hardly an exciting squad but oh well, Woys wonder of getting the best out of an average set will see us through (and then out in the quarters)
Bootador
Completely forgot about Lennon

PaulHartman71
How many starts has Johnson had at City this season? Can imagine if he'd been starting every game at another club he'd have probably made the squad proper.
