    Is that the entire list?

Disappointed at not seeing South Africa on there. Still, there are some top leagues on there.

    Great work!

Anyone know why Napoli are always the odd one out?

Where is the explanation of the asterisk? I'm guessing it means only partial or something

Scottish league 2 was the reason for my asterisk question

Is there a similar thread about FM13?

Ask @ADeLaurentiis, he always manages club's and players' images and figures on his own ... that often makes troubles.

No Portuguese leagues there...does it mean no official club names can be used this year either?

I understand why logos & players photographs are copyrighted but why you cannot state who are the German National Team squad or why Benfica cannot be called "Benfica" is beyond me, the world has gone mad. Would a very good sketch of a famous face breach copyright laws?

That one is the most ridiculous to me. Couldn't believe it when I saw that. (Almost as bad as a patent on "rounded corners")
I know why these laws exist, but they have got ridiculously out of control, and then they wonder why there are Patent Trolls out there.

Leagues where we have real fixtures are now listed too.

    A quick question,

With the release this year we have the Steam Workshop, will people be able to add things like the German national team etc through the workshop? Or are there some restrictions in place?

I'm confused, why does SI have a licence for Northern Ireland First Division and Second Division but they don't have the kits in?

Hope that sometime in the near future SI will have a licence to use the EPL

Probably too minor for anyone to care but just to be correct: Hammarby Fotboll doesn't play in the Premier Division in Sweden. They play in the First Division (second tier), and has done so for about four years.

Been discussed before that SI will not comment. I will make a comment that will not hopefully lead to a ban but a certain other game developer (not that one that releases pro evolution but the other big football game) has exclusive rights on certain countries and areas. this means that SI games cannot use the data. If you google about the japanese and outside businesses you will find out why they cannot release official names etc for the japanese leagues.

It is the same deal with regards to why you cannot use FA cup, Benefica and other etc.

Hope this clears something up and I do not get banned from posting because I see everyone asking. Hopefully this clears everything up

Will be interesting to see what FA Cup is.

I wonder if anything more exotic than English Cup?

Yeah, sometimes it helps to use a bit of imagination from the player's part to get the most from the game in a RP perspective.
Great work on SI's part though for what they did manage to get - it isn't always easy these days.

Just to clarify why is everyone debating what the FA Cup will be renamed to?

Was it previously licenced and the hence the name FA Cup could be used, or has there been a change since last year that I am unaware banning the use of the term 'FA Cup'?

I suppose it could possibly still be called the FA cup without mentioning the producer of... soft drinks... that sponsors it, but I'm not privy to how far that particular license extends

Real sad to see that the portuguese league is once again (two years in a row) not licence in the game.
I wonder why the change since FM13? Is it something related with the sales in Portugal? Bad sales... so is not worth the investment by SI/SEGA...

The other 30 Scottish teams are new and I don't believe any game has ever had this level fully licensed before.

Turkish competition logos are also new this year.

    This is the best news.

I realise I sound sarcastic but I'm not, there's something oddly joyful about it. Now all we need is enough Gibraltarians in the game to get control over the side, and we're sorted.

Happy with that list to be honest.

I always download different kit packs and player face packs anyway. So the lack of licensing for certain leagues and players is not a problem. I also change the competition names where appropriate too.

I can see from the beta that previous results in World Cup qualifiers are not accurate. In my game for instance, Scotland are top of Group A. Is that a licensing issue?

Have there been any that were in FM13 that were lost? Want to know if it will have any missing bits I'm seeing in 13. Already DLd beta via Steam, just addicted to my Macclesfield file in 13...

I do often wonder this, considering Konami have to use fake team names and used to have to use fake player names also. Although German National Team is a no go for FM

If this is more than normal its good, if its less than normal its worrying.

I don't get the fake Germany team why they don't get completely replaced with real regen players after a few years. It seems like 20 years time they will still be mostly greyed out

Can't you just download face packs, real name fixes etc like before? As for the German team, is there not a work around for that?

    Hi Miles,

Could you give us people an insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes to get a club/nation licensed? How many hoops do you and your team have to jump through?

    Just curious

If you got individual licensing deals with a number of national teams, would that give you rights to their results and therefore allow you to approximate more accurately qualifiers?

No because UEFA and FIFA own the rights to the fixtures and results, not the nations.

Whoever decided that they would buy the licence to results and the like are pretty clever people. Imagine being able to make money out of results if people want to use them. All this is genius in a way

It's been an issue for decades in the Premiership; you can't put fixtures and results on your webpage without paying them a bundle - even the clubs have to pay them.

Hopefully the advanced editor allows us to edit fixtures

Leagues, firstly and in the case of Serie A also clubs The Fa and BPL are asking astronomical amounts for licensing, hence no top tier England. If You want it, why not annoy your clubs marketing department? maybe they will do something about fees!??

It's genius if you're a free-market fundamentalist. Given the obscene amounts of money sloshing around the Premier League already, I'd have another term for it.

It's genius in most ways you paint it. In a sad sort of way.

I think you'll find that was last season, but why let that get in the way of some good old belly laughs? They're only the soft drinks sponsor, as the SPFL as a whole has no sponsor whatsoever.

So what's the issue with the German national team? I take it that they appear in the game, but cannot be managed. Or are they simply omitted altogether?

Seems barmy, all this licencing stuff.

SI do not have the license for the German league and consequently we are not permitted to discuss this n the forums

This was discussed a few years ago; I believe the issue is down to the shallow nature of the African scouting pool. In other words, there aren't enough nation-specific scouts in, say, Algeria, to accurately represent the league. Correct me if I'm wrong, though, obviously.

I'd love to see those leagues in, and I love that they've been created for the Workshop, but it would be nice to have a few of the more major African leagues in the game just for accuracy's sake and for the long-term development of the game (it becomes harder and harder to find decent West African regens as the game progresses, meaning that the Nigerian national team can be impossible to achieve anything with after twenty years or so.)

Definitely activate the leagues you're interested in - Nigeria especially can become big players
