I'm back after a shock sacking after a board takeover last year that killed any FM motivation. Merthyr Town this year for me, a Welsh club playing in the English pyramid. This time with Békéscsaba 1912 Előre, a club that has been relegated last season. I chose them mainly because of their nice purple&white kits. But also because of their financial situation. We have got some nice money in the bank, so enough room for some early upgrades. Hopefully. The reset date for Hungary is 19 June 2024. You can save at 26th May and then holiday until 19 June to get different teams. Looking at the Intake Distribution, it looks like there are no players who have come through. Wonder if that's why it's a half star intake? You lot make this thread so much fun each year, am looking forward to being a proper part of it this year rather than just popping in every few weeks like last year. hubwub Posted October 20, 2023 Share Posted October 20, 2023 I just simmed to the reset date for Mexico which is June 10. No teams got promoted. I also simmed for 3 more years because of average points. No teams got promoted still. Upon further digging, promotion/relegation with Liga MX and Liga de Expansión MX has been suspended. Tampico Madero, the club I managed in FM23 for this challenge, won Liga Premier which should've granted them promotion to Liga de Expansión MX. Atlante who won Liga de Expansión MX should've been promoted to Liga Mx. They got certified for promotion but they didn't get promoted. It seems like four teams have to get certified for promotion to happen in which that their financials and infrastructure are good. Have used the other goalkeeper as a striker a few times now to give one player a hint of rest, but we lose every time he plays! Starting off with a squad of 57 players so a slight advantage there. A real challenge starting with nothing on the youth front, but after constant pestering, the board relented about 3 months in to the season. Managed to get two more recruitment upgrades in over the season too. Things were shaky at times though. With only 14 players in the club, there were times when our backup keeper had to play out on pitch. And we regularly played with formations like this just to get the most out of the players we had. Far and away our outstanding looking prospect. We are actually relatively strong up top, but won't be long before Murakami is a regular I imagine. Sato had the highest total attribute count of all the new players, without standing out as much as Murakami. My weird asymmetric formation had a left winger and an AM, mostly because we had basically nobody able to play on the right. Not sure if Sato is that guy, but we'll find out. Probably says quite a bit that Hiraoka is a top 3 prospect. We're pretty thin on the ground. But I've got my eye on a potential ball winning midfielder here I think. Next season hopefully we push on with the upgrades and get some more promising prospects through. The squad are aging, with 9 of my original 14 aged 29 or older. We are predicted to finish 36 out of 37. I have a technical director but I don't need one. I've yet to look at my squad in depth. The one thing I did look was if during my holiday sim did the team produce youth players. It did but doesn't show up in the Youth Intake history or Youth tab under Transfers. It's been a bug bear of mine for about 3 FM's now - i dont think i've had to sub a keeper in FM for years now, usually like maybe once every 2-3 your GK needs swapped out - I haven't done it in years! I've started putting a GK on the bench for the first time in as long as I can remember. Never had to take one off before but there's been two broken fingers mid game already at Merthyr. I holidayed forward 3 seasons in Japan yesterday to check intakes. All clubs had yearly intakes of youngsters, but they didn't show up in that tab at all. A bug surely! From reading the thread it seems that teams that are promoted to J3 do not have youth recruitment so you do not get a youth intake unless you improve facilities etc. So you need to get your board to spend money which is sometimes very hard.
