Private companies are testing the technology.

Hawkeye for football is still not yet perfect or the chip in the ball.

How bout a simple solution for the international games? A booth official who can buzz the ref when there is a controversial call and review footage?

its not like it happens every game though, you may get 1 decision a tournament that has to go to the video

That is the problem there, if you get video referees in then you have to use them for diving, offsides etc.

We will get the chorus going "The video ref is there for goalline decisions, why don't we use him for offsides, diving, shirt-pulling, handballs & racist abuse ;) too?"

You can still only use them for goal lines decisions like we just saw. No reason you have to use them for other stuff.

One the assistant said the ball didnt cross the line for a corner, yet the ref on the penalty spot saw it did and gave the corner. If they cant get stuff like that right why bother

How do you know the ref gave it and not the assistant? The assistant behind the goal doesn't have a flag or a whistle and he doesn't do cartwheels every time he wants the refs attention.

What if England broke from that move (they did actually) and scored? Do you chalk it off?

You call England back before they score but they were 3 against 1, then it turned out the ball did not cross the line, would that be fair?

You need an instant decision, where if the ref does not get the buzz the game carries on. If the referee gets the buzz he blows for a goal.

No faffing about with cameras, angles and review screens. Once the chip in the ball or hawkeye is perfect then lets use it, till then we can carry on as we have for over 100 years. :D
