Ridleys
Writers Note: Another update you would have previously read and once again I apologise for posting my update late, I was busy watching the cricket. Update 3 - Ridleys Years: 0, Months: 3, Days: 85 3 months have now passed in the competition, and all managers are still at their original clubs. The biggest shock so far is in the Premiership as West Ham, managed by Whoopy Dee, have fought there way to 2nd place in the League. They haven’t lost in 5 games now (all competitions) and Mr Dee claimed 2nd place in this months Manager of the Month in the Premiership. There has also been a shock result in the English League Cup, as Premiership Giants Chelsea crashed out to Bolton. Both managers, Andre da Conceiçao (Chelsea) and Arnold J. Rimmer (Bolton), both attacking style, but it was Bolton that came out on top. Despite losing in the League Cup, Chelsea top the league and haven’t lost a game, taking 16 points from 6 games. They won all 3 games this month, scoring 10 goals and conceding 0. They also beat FC Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League. Other unbeaten teams in the competition include Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina, who scored 15 goals in 4 games this month and unsurprisingly top the table. They even managed 6 goals in just 1 game against bermybhoy’s Atalanta who find themselves down in 16th position. Will de Mote, manager of A.C. Milan is the only other manager in Italy to have an unbeaten League record. A.C. Milan have 11 points and are 2 points behind Fiorentina. Over in Spain the only unbeaten side is Villarreal and their manager, Lars Tommersen. Villarreal also pulled off a magnificent victory over Jeremy English’s Liverpool in the Champions League. Liverpool are underperforming in the Premiership at the moment and are in an unlucky 13th place after defeats to Mark Cator’s Aston Villa and Lee Dodge’s Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester City, manager by Liam Ferguson, have improved after a terrible month in August. They only played 2 league games this month, but won both of them comfortably. They also beat Doncaster and Charlton Athletic in the League Cup 1st and 2nd Round respectively. It was a different story at Everton though. Their manager Bryan Mcguinness, claimed my manager of the update award last month, but hasn’t lived up to expectations this month as they lost 2 of their 3 games this month and have slipped to 6th in the League. Stoke and their manager Fréderico Canvey should be very please with their position so far in the League as they occupy a comfortable 11th place in the table, they have recently crashed to a 0-4 defeat to Chelsea, however. Shazad Ali’s Newcastle has not got the easiest job in the world. Newcastle fans always pile the pressure on every manager and it doesn’t always have a positive effect. Newcastle are down in 15th place and if Mr Ali doesn’t turn things around quickly he will thousands of angry Geordies on his back! Robert Boyle’s Blackburn, Martin Bojangles’ Hull and Wigan’s female manager, Brettney Joven, cover the bottom 3 positions in the Premiership. Back over in Italy, Serie B side Modena almost pulled off an unexpected win over dafuge’s Torino. Modena had only 7 first team players available (10 players were injured, and 3 were suspended!) but still gave their Serie A opposition a run for their money. There are no more Serie B teams left in the Italian Cup, as the other 2 left in the competition were knocked out by Jonte Rhodes’ Lazio and Mikey Twigge’s Palermo. Palermo’s form in the Italian Cup does not represent their clubs form in all competitions however. In the League Twigge has led his side to 5 defeats from their first 5 games. As well as that, Mr Twigge is not even capable of coaching his players to hit the back of the net, as they have scored 0 goals so far in the League. Chievo manager Mathias Brunckhorst is another manager to have a similar lack of success in the league as his side have also failed to get a point from their 5 games. At least they have scored a goal though. Occupying the middle of the table in Italy are Mikael Schøler, Bologna as they have 2 wins, 2 defeats and 1 draw from their first 5 games, picking up 7 points from a possible 15. Just below Bologna are James Salter’s Reggina, who are in the process of a board takeover, they also have 7 points, but because Bologna beat Reggina in the 2 clubs league encounter, Bologna claim 11th place and Reggina settle for 12th. In the top half is James Ridley’s Siena are fighting above their weight in 6th place. I’m sure Ridley will be very happy with 6th place at the end of the season though. In Spain, Valladolid, managed by Phil Ewlles are the surprise so far as they have climbed up to 6th place in the table so far. Saul Goode at Osasuna is also doing well in an impressive 7th position, which his players are more than happy with. In the bottom 3 are David Machine’s Athletic Club, Andy Moreton’s RealSporting and Sirus Lannock’s Málaga. Athletic Club will be hoping to perform much better over the coming months as they are expected to finish at least mid table, they are yet to win a game though. Real Sporting are also yet to win a game, but Málaga find themselves at the bottom of the table on goal difference with only 3 points. As well as action in the League and Domestic Cups, there has also been European action taking place, with the first legs of the 1st Round of the UEFA Cup taking place as well as the first fixtures of the Champions League Group Stages. In the Champions League the biggest win was for Atlético Madrid, managed by Cool Manager, who beat FC Porto 3-0, with all 3 goals coming in the first 20 minutes. Ben Cee’s Inter were shocked by Belgian outfit, Anderlecht, who won the game fairly comfortably 2-0! It was a long journey home for the disappointed Inter fans. Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid, Tom Smith’s Arsenal, Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona and Maurice Jobson’s Manchester United all managed to win their games, and top their respective Group tables. Female manager Lisa Jeffries, manager of Juventus and AS Roma manager Clark Aitken both drew their opening games. In the UEFA Cup 11 teams from this competition were involved in 1st Round ties. Zach Machios’s Portsmouth came out with the biggest win to take to the 2nd Leg as they thrashed Red Star Belgrade 5-0. There were also dominant wins for Tyler Burrows’ Udinese, Lawrence Lazewski’s Valencia, Maz Armley’s Racing, Jack Browne’s Sevilla, Aston Villa and Everton who all won their 1st leg ties by 3 or more goals. Manchester City, Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria and A.C. Milan also won their 1st leg matches, but not by as great a margin. Manager of the Update My manager of the update has to go to; Ben Taylor, Fiorentina A fantastic month for Mr Taylor lots of goals scored and not many conceded as well as taking his club to top of the table. Villarreal manager Lars Tommersen was another contender as he is also unbeaten in the league and claimed a very impressive win against Liverpool. Another contender was Whoopy Dee as he seems to be working wonders at West Ham as they are right up the top of the Premiership. weeeman27bob
weeeman27bob – Update 4 Years 0, Months 4, Days 116 Four months into the new season and we have our first changes for job status for our group of sixty managers. Whoopy Dee has had quite a fall from grace. He was Manager of the Update for the first update, but the success seems to have got to his head. His West Ham team sit bottom of the Premiership and his job security is described as Precarious. Also fighting for their jobs are Aston Villa’s Mark Cator and Bryan McGuinness, manager of Everton. Both these managers find their clubs sitting in the relegation zone, and so must find a way out to stay in the competition. The English league may contain some of the least stable jobs, but it also contains some of the most stable. At the start of the season, many would have tipped Brucie Bonus’s West Brom and Frédrico Canvey’s Stoke to be returning to the Championship. However, they now sit 9th and 11th respectively and above established clubs such as Shazad Ali’s Newcastle, who find themselves in 14th place. This means they are the only two managers to have a Very Secure job position. Only two teams remain unbeaten in Europe’s three dominant leagues. Chelsea may not have lost any games but should have picked up more points than they have, after four draws in ten games, including a goalless game with Scott Tysoe’s Sunderland. The other unbeaten team are Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid who sit atop La Liga with a magnificent 22 points from eight games. Sevilla sit one point behind having lost a game to Cool Manager’s Atlético Madrid. Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona sit a further two points behind, but are far from out of the title race. Their fortunes aren’t much better in the Champions League as they have won only one of their three games to date, defeating the French team Bordeaux by three goals to one. Only three teams in the Champions League have a 100% record and all three come from England. Maurice Jobson’s Man United, Jeremy English’s Liverpool and Andre da Conceiçao’s Chelsea have won all of their games so far. The other member of the so called Big Four, Tom Smith’s Arsenal, have only secured two points in the Champions League so far, thanks to draws against Spartak Moscow and Sporting Clube de Portugal. They were thumped 0–2 at home by Lisa Jeffries’s Juventus who top the group. Also doing well in the Champions League are Villarreal, managed by Lars Tommersen, and Inter Milan, who each have two wins and a draw. The Milan team also sit second in Serie A, which should please Ben Cee. However, topping the table are Lord Weeman’s Napoli with twenty points from nine games. Level with Inter are their great rivals, Will de Mote’s AC Milan, Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria and Jonte Rhodes’s Lazio. In turn, Roma and Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina ,who have sixteen points apiece, closely follow them. Every single team has managed at least one win, but this won’t comfort James Salter, whose Reggina sit bottom of Serie A with only four points. dafuge’s Torino and Mathias Brunckhorst’s Chievo, who have five and six points respectively, join them in the relegation zone. The relegation zone in Spain is an equally desolate place. Jellybean Man’s Numancia have amassed only four points, courtesy of a 2–1 victory over Phill Ewles’s Valladolid and a draw against Wobill Luman’s Betis, who sit 11th and 15th. Joining them are Neji Hyuuga’s Deportivo and Saul Goode’s Osasuna who each have six points. Sitting just above are David Machine’s Athletic with seven points to their name. With ten teams within ten points at the bottom, it looks like it will be a long hard fight to stay in La Liga. The group stages of the UEFA Cup have just got underway, and most teams have played one game. There have been no major shocks so far with AC Milan, Liam Ferguson’s Man City and Tyler Burrows’s Udinese all winning. Jack Browne’s Sevilla shouldn’t be too disappointed in losing to the Dutch team Feyenoord and are still in a position to go through from the group. Leo Dodge’s Tottenham may only have managed a draw against Stuttgart in their tie, but Dodge should be pleased with the start to the season as Spurs find themselves in fourth spot, with an impressive twenty goals scored in the league. Also positioned higher than anyone would have expected are Zach Machios’s Portsmouth and Robert Boyle’s Blackburn who are 6th and 7th. Other teams who are punching above their weight are Mikael Schøler’s Bologna, who sit an impressive ninth, and Maz Armley’s Racing, who sit five places above what their expected 10th place finish in La Liga. The same can be said of Sunderland who sit 10th instead of a predicted 15th, meaning Scott Tyose finds his position Secure. Manager of the Update This month’s manager of the update goes to… Andre da Conceiçao, Chelsea. Nobody has really stood out this month. Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid have performed well but not above expectations in the league, and haven’t been great in Europe. The same can be said of Jack Browne’s Sevilla. Lord Weeman’s Napoli have been flying in Serie A but were knocked out of the UEFA Cup by Maz Armley’s Racing. da Conceiçao’s Chelsea is the only team to remain unbeaten, and despite sitting only second in the English Premier League, they have won every game in the Champions League, making their manager the worthy winner of the coveted award. Ridleys
Writers Note: A previously read update again. Update 4 - Ridleys Years: 0, Months: 4, Days: 116 Over 100 days gone in the competition now and all managers remain at their clubs. Things aren’t looking good for Robert Boyle though, as he became the first manager to become Very Insecure at his club, Blackburn. He has only won 4 games since pre-season in all competitions and has only picked up 8 League points. Another manager slightly under pressure is Jeremy English, manager of Liverpool. The English manager has had a few poor results (including defeats to Aston Villa and Tottenham) and his team are only in a mid table position at the moment. On the other hand things are looking good for both Tim Aubel, manager of Fulham, and Arnold J. Rimmer at Bolton. Both managers are now Very Secure at their clubs and don’t look like they are going anywhere in the near future. Replacing Liverpool in the Top 4 (for now anyway) are Bryan McGuinness’s Everton who have found their form again this month, not losing a single game and pushing back up to 3rd place. Chelsea, managed Andre da Conceiçao, remain the only team in the Premiership to be unbeaten, and they top the table by 2 points and with a game in hand. Ben Cee’s Inter, over in Italy, are also still unbeaten and also lead the way in Serie A. There are 4 other unique teams though, for the opposite reason however. Andy Morton’s Real Sporting, Mathias Brunckhorst’s Chievo, Martin Bojangles at Hull and Brettney Joven’s Wigan are winless and are bottom of their respective leagues (except for Hull who are 1 point above Wigan). Chievo are actually yet to get a point from their 9 league games so far. Arsenal manager, Tom Smith, has had a very good month and has moved in to 2nd place in the league. Their month started off with an impressive 2-0 win against Premiership holders Manchester United, managed by Maurice Jobson. Manchester United are in 4th position. Big spenders, Liam Ferguson’s ManchesterCity remain in 12th position, and it won’t be long before their free-spending chairman start’s to get on Mr Ferguson’s back if they don’t manager to move upwards. 2nd place in Serie A is becoming a tough battle already, with 3 teams all on 20 points. Will de Mote’s A.C. Milan lead the 3 with a goal difference of +16 (the highest in Serie A), Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina are in 3rd place with a goal difference of +14 and female manager, Lisa Jeffries, at Juventus is in 4th place with a goal difference of +7. There lack of goals seems to be their downfall. Tyler Burrows’s mid-table side, Udinese, are certainly not finding it as difficult to score goals though. They have 17 goals from 9 games, but have conceded 16 goals which is why they are not higher than 9th in the table. Down in the relegation zone are Mikey Twigge’s Palermo, who were aiming for a European Place next season. Neppo Monster’s Cagliari and unsurprisingly Mathias Brunckhorst’s Chievo are the other 2 teams in the relegation zone at this early stage. La Liga is also becoming a frantic battle at the top of the table, with just 2 points separating the top 5 teams. Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona and Jack Browne’s Sevilla lead the way with 18 points, however Barcelona occupy the top spot on goal difference. Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid and Wobill Luman’s Real Betis are 1 point behind the front 2, with 17 points and Cool Manager’s Atlético Madrid are in 5th place, 1 point behind Real Madrid and Real Betis. Down at the bottom it is also very tight. Apart from Andy Morton’s Sporting, who are already 4 points adrift in last place, only 2 points separate the 9 teams above them, including 5 teams who have all won 2 drawn 2 and lost 4 games. One of those teams is Mallorca, managed by Tom Hamilton. Mallorca were hoping to get a place in Europe next season but they already find themselves 5 points behind 8th place. Going well in La Liga are Valladolid, managed by Phil Ewles, are expected to be around the relegation zone come the end of the season, but find themselves in 9th place and 5 points away from the relegation zone. This month also saw a lot more Domestic Cup games in Spain, with all the La Liga teams being entered in to the Spanish Cup. All of the teams got through to the 5th Round except 2 teams, Jellybean Man’s Numancia and Cristobal Blanco’s Recreativo both got knocked out by teams from the division below. Manager of the Update My manager of the update has to go to; Bryan McGuinness, Everton After a poor month last month Bryan McGuinness has taken his side back up to 3rd place in the Premier Division after an unbeaten month. Ben Taylor has also had a good month at Fiorentina, and is in joint 2nd place in Serie A. Phil Ewles has also been impressive so far as his side Valladolid have impressed so far and are in 9th place in La Liga. canvey!!
Writer's Notes: You've read this before. Update 4 – canvey!! Years: 0, Months: 0, Days: 116 Chairmen across England have begun to make decisions on the strength of their managers’ positions this month, while Zach Machios’s Portsmouth found themselves knocked out of the UEFA Cup, the first of our sides to do so. After a 0-1 defeat in Dortmund last month, FA Cup holders Pompey found themselves only able to draw 1-1 at Fratton Park and this puts the Scotsman in the undesirable Very Insecure position. The Premier League season has been in much the same vein for the South Coast team, and although they escaped the month eventually with 2 points in the form of two 2-2 draws, losses to Bolton and Leo Dodge’s Tottenham see them stuck to the bottom of the Premier League table, and Machios has only two competitions to play for. Their Italian counterparts are James Salter’s Reggina. Despite featuring in the Manager of the Update Awards early on, Salter’s team find themselves bottom of Serie A, yet unlike Mathias Brunckhorst’s Chievo, they have won one game. Yet this month was winless for amaranto, although there were a number of difficult games in the mix. Their best chance for three points was away to Siena, yet James Ridley’s team triumphed two goals to nil. However, still in the cup after last month’s defeat of Lazio, things aren’t all bad for Salter, who still finds himself in a Stable position. Over to Spain now, where the First Leg of the Spanish Cup’s Fourth Round has been played, with the biggest result a 4-0 away win for Cool Manager’s Atlético Madrid, over Segunda División B Écija Balompié. Zaragosa earned the advantage over Jellybean Man’s Numancia after an exciting match finished 3-2 in favour of the Segunda División team. However, with the tie next heading back to Nuevo Los Pajaritos, there is hope for Man, who was on the correct side of the same result in La Liga, over Wobill Luman’s Betis, yet matched Écija’s result, also losing 0-4 to Atlético. Another win this month keeps them steadily in mid-table, lying 13th. Unfortunately for Valencia, they have been knocked off the top of La Liga by Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid. Los Merengues won all three league games this month: the closest they came to an upset was a narrow 3-2 victory away over David Machine’s Athletic, who lie 17th and just above the relegation zone. They also had a comfortable result in Europe as Fenerbahçe came to visit in the Champions League, leaving after a 2-0 home win. Volman’s side had three 3-0 wins this month, two at home in the league and a third in the Spanish Cup Fourth Round First Leg, where they began the rout of Segunda División B islanders Fuerteventura. In other Champions League news for Spanish teams, Lars Tommersen’s Villarreal narrowly lost out 2-3 at home to Tom Smith’s Arsenal, yet beat Steve McLaren’s FC Twente 2-1 and lie 3rd, and Atlético Madrid lost 0-4 to Jeremy English’s Liverpool and sit bottom of their group. Despite this, things aren’t looking too rosy for English, as he sits in fear on the edge of his seat. A board takeover was completed, bringing in a Preston-born chairman in replacement of the Yanks, yet Dean Eaton may have his own plans for the management of Liverpool, and English’s job position is Very Insecure. He had an unbeaten month this month, sneaking him back into the top half, yet that included only one league win, over Martin Bojangles’s Hull, with two of the league’s most comfortable managers earning great draws against the Reds. Both of these managers are Very Secure, and Fréderico Canvey held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the Britannia yet didn’t win this month, yet Shazad Ali’s Newcastle earned a 0-0 at Anfield, winning a further two and losing one this month also. Clark Aitken’s Roma continue their run at the top of Serie A and their winning streak. Their wins were certainly comfortable, the Canadian guiding them to two 3-0 wins at home and two 3-1 wins away. Perhaps the most notable of the month was the home win over Lord Weeman’s Napoli, who find themselves in 11th place after beating bermybhoy’s Atalanta, yet losing to Will de Mote’s A.C. Milan 1-2, and by the same score in the UEFA Cup group stage to CSKA Moscow. Roma also continued their sky-high Champions League performance, travelling to Scotland and travelling back with a 1-0 win over Rangers. Roma, as one of two teams who have yet to lose in Serie A, are joined by Lisa Jeffries’s Juventus, whose two blips this month were a 0-0 draw at home to Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria and a 0-1 loss in the Champions League to Bayern Munich. Every side has now won in La Liga, yet Getafe, managed by Joe Seddon, still remain bottom of the league with just 3 points. They lost 1-4 to Phill Ewles’s Valladolid yet beat Espanyol 2-1, the latter managed by Joe Gleeson. Gleeson’s side lie in 11th place but the match against Getafe was the only one they failed to win this month, their highlight being a 3-0 conquest of David Machine’s Athletic. Osasuna, managed by Welshman Saul Goode, lie just above Getafe, yet they lost all three league games this month, but came close against Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona, only losing 1-2 at home. Barcelona are 4th in La Liga yet have had an indifferent Champions League. While they defeated Werder Bremen 3-1, a 1-2 loss in Kiev sees them last in their group. In other European news, five of our teams won their first UEFA Cup Group stage matches, five lost and one draw, with Jack Browne’s Sevilla yet to play. With only Portsmouth going out in the First Round, all competing teams won their ties there, with a number of matches of interest, perhaps the most exciting being Maz Armley’s Racing’s 4-0 win over AaB to send them through 5-1 on aggregate. Yet they lost their next fixture, visiting Ajax where they found themselves 0-2 down before rescuing a consolation in the final moments of the first half. French sides generally did quite well in the first match of the Group Stage, but their only loss was a dismantling of Stade Rennais by Leo Dodge’s Tottenham, 4-0. Udinese, managed by Tyler Burrows, lost 1-4 to HSV, while there was a shock victory for Stuttgart when they visited the City of Manchester Stadium. Liam Ferguson’s side, however, lie third in the Premier League, and were undefeated in this month’s domestic calendar, with a 1-1 draw at the Emirates being one highlight, the 4-2 away win over Whoopy Dee’s West Ham being another. The Hammers are 18th in the league, just inside the drop zone, where they are joined by Tim Aubel’s Fulham and, of course, Portsmouth. Everton join Manchester City as the other non-Big Four team in the top four, with the highlight for Bryan McGuinness’s team being a 3-1 demolition job when Maurice Jobson’s Red Devils visited Goodison Park. Despite this, United are still top, with two 3-0 wins over both “West” teams, yet cracks are appearing, the Everton result and subsequent 0-2 loss to Celtic in the Champions League being prominent ones. Other notable Champions League results this month were Andre da Conceiçao’s Chelsea beating Romanians CFR Cluj 3-0, and Fiorentina, managed by Ben Taylor, defeating Porto 2-0. PSV Eindhoven also beat Panathanaikos of Greece 4-0. Joining Fréderico Canvey and Shazad Ali on the list of Very Secure managers are Brucie Bonus and Scott Tysoe. Despite the Kyrgyzstani losing two games this month, a 3-1 victory keeps Brucie Bonus’s West Ham board happy, while Scott Tysoe keeps his Sunderland employers happy with a 2-0 victory over Ricky Nakano’s Middlesbrough this month, despite two losses. Sunderland, who propelled themselves into the top four very early on, have lost a bit of their edge and slipped into 8th, which is still a desirable position. Two other managers are with Jeremy English and Zach Machios on the Very Insecure list, but these are both English managers, so those leading Spanish and Italian teams might have to wait a little longer to see if those in charge of the purse strings are happy or not. Manager of the Update We have our first repeat winner, and that is; Clark Aitken, Roma Due to the continuation of his winning streak. Some other major sides offered potential early in the month, such as Maurice Jobson’s Manchester United, yet two losses for him as well as losses for other sides like United meant that the perfectionist Aitken stood the best chance. While Everton’s Bryan McGuinness might have had a claim, Roma have sauntered off with the league so far, and although there are a number of managers with Very Secure job descriptions, they are not without losses and I might expect some of those votes of confidence to be downgraded quite soon. ~Ian~
In a bit of trouble in Weeeman's update, very insecure is not a position McGuinness wants to be in. Everton should be doing a lot better than the relegation area. The opposite case in Ridleys' update, third is a good sign at this point in the season. Manager of the month too shows how strong he is at the moment. Top 4 in Canvey's as well, and beating Manyoo is always a good claim to have. So two of the three McGuinness' are doing very well at the moment, the other one needs to step up though to not let his namesakes down.

Whoopy D
Four months into the new season and we have our first changes for job status for our group of sixty managers. Whoopy Dee has had quite a fall from grace. He was Manager of the Update for the first update, but the success seems to have got to his head. His West Ham team sit bottom of the Premiership and his job security is described as Precarious.
