Walcott\'s Wonderkids
West Brom doing surprisingly well in all 3 games. Nice to see me beating Chelsea and drawing with Liverpool in weeeman's game. Very secure in 2, stable in the other and currently lieing in tied 4th overall in the table.... very contented!!! Here's to a solid 2nd half of the season for the Brom!! KUTGW guys, really good stuff.
~Ian~
Secure, stable and precarious. A good mix there, inconsistent though having Everton bottom in one and in a Champs League place in another.

tomsmith1989
A bit of an 'up and down' feeling in Canveys updates. The 2-0 defeat to Fulham is poor. Oh well, still secure in all three.

Lower Leagues Rule
9th= as Jonte Rhodes moves to Very Secure in one of the games, also nice to see us defeating Juventus 1-0 as the only mention across the updates. I am exactly where I want to be, don't want to become hugely secure as that means overperforming and gives higher expectations in season 2. Lets keep it going boys. Lazio for midtable. weeeman27bob
Weeman27bob - Update 6 Years: 0, Months: 6, Days: 177 As 2008 turns into 2009, we must say goodbye to one of our managers. Everton have sacked Brian McGuinness after a string of poor performances. McGuinness looks likely to be joined by many managers soon though, as eight of our hopefuls have their job status as Very Insecure, and another three as Insecure. One of the Very Insecure managers is Torino’s dafuge who finds his team rock bottom of Serie A with just three wins and five draws from seventeen games. Also in the relegation zone are Neppo Monster’s Cagliari and Mathias Brunckhorst’s Chievo but neither of these managers find their position under threat. The same cannot be said of bermybhoy, manager of 17th placed Atalanta, who like dafuge is fighting a struggle to keep his job. It can only be assumed that uncapitalised names are not favoured by the game. The final manager struggling in Italy is Lisa Jeffries, the manager of Juventus, with the former giants sitting 8th. They did, however, manage to qualify in first position in their Champions League group. With Sporting CP in second, that meant a swift exit into the UEFA Cup for Tom Smith’s Arsenal. Their exit is quite bizarre as they sit top of the Premiership ahead of Andre da Conceiçao’s Chelsea, and with a goal difference of nearly twice that of their nearest rivals. Surprise packages Zach Machios’s Portsmouth and Leo Dodge’s Tottenham sit 3rd and 4th respectively. They are the filling in what I like to think of as the Big Four sandwich as Maurice Jobson’s Man United and Jeremy English’s Liverpool sit 5th and 6th, although both teams qualified for the knockout rounds of the Champions League, with Liverpool drawn against Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina. Many would expect the English team to dominate, but Fiorentina sit 4th in Serie A and have recorded a win over Juventus this month. The most exciting tie of the knockout rounds also involves a team from Italy, as Clark Aitken’s sixth placed Roma take on the financial might of Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid. The giants from the Spanish capital sit top of La Liga, closely followed by Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona. Jack Browne’s Sevilla are third despite losing 0-1 to both Lars Tommersen’s Villarreal and Lawrence Lazewski’s Valencia and so should be content with life. Valladolid, managed by Phill Ewles, are also doing well in a month which included a comfortable 2-0 victory over Neilio’s struggling Alméria. His team sit in 18th place and have conceded the most in La Liga, meaning that he finds his position Very Insecure. David Machine's Athletic find themselves in a similar position, kept out of the relegation zone only by a superior goal difference. Things aren’t all good for Saul Goode either with his Osasuna team sitting bottom of La Liga with a miserable thirteen points. Both these managers also find their statuses Very Insecure. Neji Hyuuga’s Deportivo sit 12th, lower than expected, and whilst not catastrophic he must work harder to secure his position. Deportivo are through though to the next round of the UEFA Cup where they will face Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria. Also through are Liam Ferguson’s Man City. Ferguson hasn’t had the best of months in which his team lost 2-3 to both Liverpool and Arnold J. Rimmer’s Bolton. This sees City sitting 9th in the Premiersihp. Two places above them are Robert Boyle’s Blackburn who had a thumping 4-1 victory over Liverpool this month. In eighth place, rather surprisingly, are Brucie Bonus’s West Brom. The Baggies beat both Newcastle and West Ham 2-1 this month which should please their fans. Fans of Newcastle and West Ham shouldn’t be too pleased though. Shazad Ali and Whoopy Dee find their teams in 16th and 18th respectively and also find their job statuses Very Insecure. They are separated by Fréderico Canvey’s Stoke who lost every single game this month. Doing worse though are Ricky Nakano’s Middlesbrough who also lost all their games this month and sit bottom of the league. It is not a surprise to learn that his job is at threat. In Serie A, Ben Cee’s Inter still lead the race after an unbeaten month including a hard fought 1-1 draw with their biggest rivals Will de Mote’s AC Milan. In fact only one team separates them in the league. That accolade goes to Tyler Burrow’s Udinese who scored an impressive nine goals in four games this month. Towards the middle of the table are some teams who have performed admirably well. Despite not winning a game this month in the league Theo Stigarakis should be pleased, especially with a 2-2 draw against AC Milan and sit an impressive 10th. James Ridley’s Siena have also had a commendable month. Their most impressive performance was a 3-2 triumph over previous table toppers Lord Weeman’s Napoli, who have won only twice in eleven games. Napoli were also knocked out of the Italian Cup by Jonte Rhodes’s 7th placed Lazio, in what was the only shocking result of the round. Manager of the Update This month, the award goes to.... Brucie Bonus, West Brom. There were no outstanding candidates this month. Leo Dodge and Zach Machios continue to impress in the Premiership, but were not outstanding. Theo Stigarakis continues to work wonders with his Catania team but again has not had an exceptional month. Bonus has lead West Brom on a march up the table and with some impressive results this month, the award is his. Ridleys
Update 6 - Ridleys Years: 0, Months: 6, Days: 177 Things are starting to get very interesting now, the first sacking has taken place in the competition and I don’t believe it will be too long until another one follows. Jeremy English was sacked just 165 days in to his job at Liverpool after extremely poor performances in the League, where they are in 14th position. Joe Gleeson looks like he could be next to join Mr English on the unemployment list as he is said to be Precarious at his club Espanyol and could get the sack any time soon. However, it’s not all bad news this month. Leo Dodge’s Tottenham continued their excellent form in the League with three wins including an excellent 2-0 win over Bryan McGuinness’s Everton, who are also in good form. Tottenham have won all their league games since they drew with Mark Cator’s Aston Villa at the end of October. Mr Cator had a less inspiring month than Leo Dodge and Bryan McGuinness however. They won only one game, in the UEFA Cup, against Ukranian side Metalist. They lost all three league games this month as well as getting thrashed against Tom Smith’s Arsenal 1-4 in the League Cup Quarter Final. It was also a good month for two managers in Italy, Theo Stigarakis and dafuge, managers of Catania and Torino. Both English managers are punching above their weight in the league with Torino still on for a place in Europe for next season. Wobill Luman’s Betis are still performing above expectations as they are in 3rd place in La Liga. The English manager has had consistent form from his team all season, with their lowest position being only 8th place. Tom Hamilton’s Mallorca continue to underperform and are only 1 point outside the relegation zone. Mr Hamilton will hopefully be looking at some new strikers in the forthcoming transfer window as his team has netted only 5 goals in their last 10 league games. The Italian Cup brought no shocks with Will de Mote’s A.C. Milan and Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria scoring 9 goals between them. A.C. Milan beat Catania 5-1 and Sampdoria overcame Neppo Monster’s Cagliari 4-0. Cagliari are also struggling in the league: with the worst goal difference and the lowest amount of goals scored, it is not going well for them. Sampdoria are up against Ben Cee’s Inter, whilst A.C. Milan will be playing away at Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina in the Quarter Final. The draw for the Semi Final in the English League Cup has been made after the Quarter Finals took place this month. Shazad Ali’s Newcastle became the first Semi Finalist after beating Robert Boyle’s Blackburn with relative ease. Portsmouth, managed by Zach Machios, thrashed their League One counterparts Scunthorpe 5-1, with John Utaka netting 3 of the 5 goals for Pompey. Everton beat Arnold J. Rimmer’s Bolton and Arsenal beat under pressure manager Mark Cator and his team Aston Villa 4-1 to seal their places in the Semi Final. Newcastle will be playing Arsenal and Portsmouth will play Everton in the next round. In the Champions League it was not good news for Roma and their Canadian manager Clark Aitken, as they were the only team from this competition to be knocked out in the Group Stages, drawing all 6 of their games. Lars Tommersen’s Villarreal were on top form in the Group Stages, staying unbeaten throughout and winning their group by 8 points. Managerless Liverpool also qualified from that group. Spanish Champions Real Madrid, managed by Lucas Volman, English Champions Manchester United, managed by Maurice Jobson and Italian Champions Inter, managed by Ben Cee, all won their respective groups. Villarreal are to play against Zenit in the next round, Real Madrid will be playing Werder Bremen, Manchester United will face Portuguese side Sporting CP and Inter will be up against Arsenal. In the UEFA Cup two of the teams from this competition have been knocked out in the Group Stages. Maz Armley’s Racing were knocked out in Group B after three defeats in their last three Group games. Lord Weeman’s Napoli were also knocked out after finishing bottom of Group D. Jack Browne’s Sevilla and English side Portsmouth both qualified from that group. Tyler Burrows’s Udinese won their group and were the only team to not concede a goal. Big spenders ManchesterCity, managed by Liam Ferguson, won their group with Lawrence Lazewski’s Valencia finishing in 2nd place. Sevilla are playing Fenerbahçe in the First Knockout Round, Udinese will be playing Ajax, ManchesterCity will face Greek side Panathinaikos and Valencia are up against Porto. Manager of the Update My manager of the update has to go to; Wobill Luman, Betis Another consistent month for Wobill Luman, manager of Betis, as they moved up to 3rd place in La Liga. Lars Tommersen, manager of Villarreal, was also a contender after a great performance in the Champions League and dafuge was also a possible winner after a good month at Torino. canvey!!
Update 6 – canvey!! Years: 0, Months: 6, Days: 177 There was good news for two of our managers this month as the English League Cup Quarter Finals were played. In one tie, Championship Reading ousted their fellow second-tier opponents Cardiff, while all of the others had Premier League managers in action for one of the season’s earlier pieces of silverware. However, it was not to be for Liam Ferguson, whose Manchester City team lost on penalties to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Jeremy English, in the middle of a mini-revitalisation at Anfield, knocked out Andre da Conceiçao’s Chelsea, while the other two Big Four teams were in action in the other tie, with Manchester United knocking out Tom Smith’s Arsenal. There was further good news for Rwandan Red Devils boss Maurice Jobson, as his side travelled to Japan for the Club World Championship, where Tevez and Berbatov goals lifted them the title with a 3-1 win over Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel. Such an amount of cup fixtures means United have two games in hand over the majority of the Premier League, yet they still sit top, with two wins out of two this month. England weren’t the only country hosting a cup this month, and it is over to Italy where the First Round of the Italian Cup took place. Perhaps the best win of the round was that of Atalanta, manged by bermybhoy, who knocked out Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina away. There were convincing wins for Inter Milan, A.C. Milan and Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria, while Lord Weeman’s Napoli squeaked past Mikel Schøler’s Bologna on penalties. Roma, Juventus and Mikey Twigge’s Palermo join these teams in the Quarter Final. There was also action in Serie A, and Clark Aitken’s Roma hold a magnificent eight point lead at the top, despite dropping two points this month with a 2-2 draw away to Inter. They also found themselves top of their Champions League group, the only points lost being as a result of a 0-0 draw with Jeremy English’s Liverpool this month, with qualification having already been secure. It’s a similar story down the bottom end, with Mathias Brunckhorst’s Chievo stuck seven points from safety. The Insecure manager failed to pick up a point this month, with two 0-1 defeats sandwiching a 0-4 destruction by Theo Stigarakis’s Catania, who are currently 15th. In Spain, Joe Seddon’s Getafe find themselves in the relegation zone despite a very good month this month. Defeating Racing and Wobill Luman’s Betis 2-0 were the highlights, with the only blip a 0-0 away draw, but at the hands of in-form Atlético Madrid it was not a bad effort at all. Atlético also won all month with the exception of that Getafe game, Cool Manager guiding them to the UEFA Cup with a third-placed finish in a tough Champions League group with a 1-0 win over Rangers. Málaga and Neilio’s Almería found themselves victims of Manager’s unbeaten run, suffering 1-4 and 1-2 respectively. Atlético Madrid weren’t the only team to fail to qualify for the next round of the Champions League, and they certainly weren’t the worst of those that didn’t. While Roma and Liverpool denied progression for the team from Spain’s capital, Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina were sent to the UEFA Cup when Celtic sneaked ahead, and this combined with the cup result meant a very patchy month for Taylor: good in the league but poor in other competitions. The biggest wins this month were for Lars Tommersen’s Villarreal over FC Twente and for Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid over Shalke, both 3-0. The next round beckons, with three ties where both teams are managed by our managers. Lisa Jeffries’s Juventus playing Man United is perhaps the most interesting tie, with Liverpool vs. Real Madrid a close second. Half of the English Premier League season has been played, and it is a woman who is bottom of the pile. Brettney Joven takes charge at Wigan, but hasn’t fared particularly well and is currently 20th, and is currently Very Insecure. Wigan picked up a point this month with a home draw against Fulham, but lost their other three games. Joining the Latics in the drop zone are Fréderico Canvey’s Stoke and Zach Machios’s Portsmouth. The former is Stable while the latter is Insecure, although the southern team picked up a decent points tally this month, undefeated except for a 0-2 defeat at the Stadium of Light against a high-flying Sunderland. Yes, Scott Tysoe’s team is currently rolling in money and overperforming. They beat three of the teams in the bottom four this month when welcoming them to the Stadium of Light, but an away fixture in the FA Cup Third Round to Chelsea will not be a delight, as the London team beat them 4-0 in an identical League Cup tie in September. However, a 2-2 draw at the Emirates this month might give Tysoe hope of causing an upset. Sunderland’s rivals Newcastle find themselves camped securely in the top half, but after winning their first game of the month, 2-0 over Bolton, Shazad Ali’s team drew their remaining three games. Mark Cator’s Aston Villa had an increase in fortunes this month as they propelled themselves up the table with three consecutive wins, knocking back West Brom, Fulham and Robert Boyle’s Blackburn. However, a visit to Old Trafford saw the Birmingham team dished a 0-5 thrashing. The good news is that Cator seems out of the storm for the moment, his Job Status now Stable. Whoopy Dee and David Machine also found themselves Very Insecure at the end of last month, and West Ham boss Dee still finds himself on the brink of a sacking despite a 4-0 victory over Hull this month. However, Machine, at Athletic, has salvaged his position for now with a win, a loss and a draw this month. Also in Spain this month, Joe Gleeson’s Espanyol had a troublesome time, but picked up a point right at the death with a 3-3 draw against Andy Morton’s Sporting. Yet the Englishman is still Very Insecure, and is one of a number of managers that could be receiving their P45 very soon. Deportivo and Neji Hyuuga also did not have a great month, a win at the start being marred by two losses, the second of which was at home to Tom Hamilton’s Mallorca. Yet the island team were also not perfect, losing at home too, but Hamilton’s position is Stable. At the top of La Liga, it is the usual one-two, Real Madrid holding the slender advantage over Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona. Lawrence Lazewski’s Valencia lie five points behind, and progressed this month in the UEFA Cup. Not all of our teams did that, however, with Lord Weeman’s Napoli losing out to Besiktas, CSKA Moscow and Anderlecht. Manchester City also crashed out, meaning their trophy hopes drop from four to two in one month. A win over Czechs Banik Ostrava this month resulted in their only points of the group, and they failed to progress behind Stuttgart, A.C. Milan and Feyenoord. Neppo Monster’s Cagliari find themselves struggling in Serie A, and are in 19th place, but a win this month over Sampdoria brings about some hope. S.S. Lazio, under the control of Jonte Rhodes, find themselves where predicted, in 11th, and they won, lost and drew this month. Finally, Lecce are in 14th place, losing two games but winning at the end of the month against Cardio Vascular’s Genoa. It seems that Spain is the place to find security at the moment, with four of our managers, that’s 20%, stationed there being Very Secure. Peruvian Cristobal Blanco had a decent if unspectacular month at Recreativo, Jellybean Man lost all three games this month, dropping his Numancia to 12th, and Phill Ewles’s Valladolid also had a decent month, despite a 0-4 defeat to Barcelona. Next month brings mouthwatering league games in all three countries, but for some it may be the excitement of a knockout competition that attracts them. In England, both the League Cup and the FA Cup will be playing their next rounds, with the Third Round of the latter bookmarked on any football fan’s calendar. All 20 of our Premier League managers will compete, with five of them guaranteed to be eliminated. In Spain, there is the small matter of a two-legged Cup Fifth Round, while Italy have the Quarter Final of theirs. Europe holds nothing until February, but perhaps it is the potential of first managerial blood being drawn that excites you; nine of our managers are in danger it is only a matter of time before one of them drops off the map. Manager of the Update There’s little choice in the matter this month, as the best performer was trophy-winning Maurice Jobson, Manchester United who took his side to Japan where they lifted the Club World Championship. He is the first manager to get two trophies, having already won the European Super Cup. Clark Aitken’s Roma was a candidate for a third award, and Lucas Volman perhaps sought to get his first, but with six wins out of six this month and a piece of silver to go in the cabinet, not even Scott Tysoe, whose Sunderland only dropped points in a draw away to Arsenal, could stop the Rwandan seizing this mantle. canvey!! Other perfect guessers were TigerJoe, Haowan (who predicted the first transfer window) and weeeman27bob before he got inside information. d-machine, DiscoStu94 and pnefc22 were also only a month out. Ridleys
Writers Note: The other two updates will follow shortly. Update 7 - Ridleys Years: 0, Months: 7, Days: 208 7 months in and another manager has felt the pressure of being a manager and has lost his job. This time it was Neji Hyuuga, formerly the manager of Deportivo, but now unemployed. The English manager had been under pressure for a few months and the board had had enough and he lost his job. Also feeling the pressure over the New Year was Joe Gleeson, manager of Espanyol. Mr Gleeson has had the fans on his back for a few months now and it can’t be long before he gets sacked if things carry on. It’s not all bad news this month, however. James Ridley, manager of Siena, has been celebrating some good form recently as his team have moved up to 9th place in Serie A. Mr Ridley is now labelled as Very Secure by Siena. Mark Cator’s Aston Villa also had a good month, as they moved into the top half of the table. The English manager has moved back from Insecure to Stable. Bolton’s Arnold J. Rimmer continues to do well as his side are still chasing for a Champions League place for next season (how crazy is that?)! This month also marked the opening of the January transfer window, which saw 6 of the top 10 highest transfers coming in the English Premiership, as well as 3 of them coming for Liam Ferguson’s ManCity. The Englishman brought in 5 more players for a combined fee of £57.3 million. They also swapped Vincent Kompany + £7.75 million for Bryan McGuinness’s star defender, Phil Jagielka. Tom Smith, manager of Arsenal, made the biggest money purchase of the transfer window, spending £25 million on Lucho Gonzalez to improve their chance of chasing Premiership leaders Chelsea, managed by Andre de Conceiçao. Chelsea also made two big money transfers, purchasing Jérémy Toulalan and Fabio Quagliarella for a combined fee of £38 million. Barcelona, managed by Haowan Madridstas, were the biggest spenders in La Liga. They spent £19 million to take Hulk from Porto. They will be hoping he can bring in some much needed goals, after some poor results in recent months. Rivals Real Madrid, managed by Lucas Volman, decided not to spend any money during the January transfer window. Madrid are nine points clear at the top of the table. The other side from the Spanish capital, Cool Manager’s Atlético Madrid, did decide to spend some money however, as they brought in Rodrigo Palacio from Argentine side Boca and Carlos Diogo from Zaragoza. In Italy, Will de Mote’s A.C. Milan were the biggest spenders, splashing out just over £30m on 3 players, including £18.25 million on Andrés Guardado from Deportivo. AS Roma, managed by Clark Aitken, also spent a fair bit of money, spending £15.25 million just to co-own Marek Hamsik who plays for Lord Weeman’s Napoli. Lisa Jeffries’s Juventus were the only other side too spend more than £10 million this January as they spent £11.25 million on attacking midfielder Alex from Internacional. Top of the league, Inter, managed by Ben Cee, spent £7.5 million to co-own Zdravko Kuzmanovic from Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina who are 4th in the table. In the Italian Cup is approaching its final stages, with the Semi Final being played this coming month. The Quarter Finals were played in January. There were two big surprises, with Fiorentina knocking out A.C. Milan and Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria knocking out Inter. Juventus beat Udinese, managed by Tyler Burrows, and Roma beat Cardio Vascular’s Genoa. Juventus against Roma and Fiorentina are to play Sampdoria in the Semi Final which is played over two legs. The Spanish Cup has also reached the Semi Final stages with the Quarter Finals finishing just two days ago. The only real surprise team was Sirus Lannock’s Málaga who knocked out Sevilla on aggregate. Barcelona overcame big rivals Real Madrid, while their were also results for Lars Tommersen’s Villarreal, who beat Espanyol, and Wobill Luman’s Real Betis, who beat Joe Seddon’s Getafe 2-1 on aggregate. Betis are up against favourites Barcelona in the Semi Final whilst Málaga will play Villarreal. Over in England there has been a lot of domestic cup football this month, with the Semi Finals of the League Cup being played as well as the Third and Fourth Rounds of the FA Cup. In the FA Cup seven Premiership teams have been knocked out so far, however none were knocked out by teams from a lower league, meaning that there have not been any real shocks in the competition as of yet. Maurice Jobson’s Manchester United struggled to overcome Reading in the Third Round, beating them 2-1, however they performed a lot better in the next round, beating Coventry 3-0. Middlesbrough, managed by Ricky Nakano, were the only team who couldn’t win their Third Round game in the 90 minutes as it took them a penalty shootout to beat Aston Villa. They could not progress any further than the Fourth Round as they crashed out to Robert Boyle’s Blackburn. Leeds are the only side from below the Championship still in the competition and they held their own again Premiership side Sunderland, managed by Scott Tysoe, as they drew 1-1 in the Fourth Round and will be replaying the game next month. In the Fifth Round Manchester United are up against Tim Aubel’s Fulham, Blackburn will play at home against either Chelsea or Brettney Joven’sWigan. In the League Cup, Tom Smith’s Arsenal beat Shazad Ali’s Newcastle in the Semi Final 3-2 on aggregate, and Everton, managed by Bryan McGuinness, also beat their opponents, Zach Machios’s Portsmouth, 3-2 on aggregate. Therefore Everton will face Arsenal in the League Cup Final on the 1st March at Wembley. Next month is a big month in Europe, with the Knockout Stages of both the Champions League and UEFA Cup taking place, as well as the first legs of the Spanish Cup Semi Final. Barcelona face Real Madrid in the league in a must-win game. Roma will face Inter in Serie A in a game which could see them go top of the table. Manager of the Update My manager of the update has to go to; James Ridley, Siena I didn’t really want to give it to myself, but seeing as it is the first time I have got a mention in my own update I must have done well this month! Also moving up to Very Secure at my club helped me give myself the award. Once again Arnold J. Rimmer came close after another fantastic month! Mark Cator also had a much better month, coming third in the Premiership manager of the Month competition for January.
