World Cup squads

I'm not gonna question Del Bosque's wisdom but it does really look odd that the 3 strikers they're bringing is 1 guy who hasn't played well in 4 years, 1 guy whose ability has dropped massively with age and injury the past 2 years, and one guy who's currently injured and looks doubtful for at least the first games.... and Negredo stays at home.

They might as well play without strikers anyway. :D

Negredo has been horribly out of form for quite some time to be fair.

On the Italy squad, from an English point of view we surely can't be quaking in our boots over that. Keep Pirlo quiet and wind up Balo we should get a good result.

More arrogance than ignorance
Both really as he's practically writing off an Italian squad which is stronger than the English one (and their potential starting lineup is probably stronger in every area than their English counterparts).
Well we drew 0-0 last time...
But were completely outplayed for a good 2 hours.

It's just the lack of goals in their squad I feel if we keep Pirlo/Balo quiet. I'd say their defence and midfield are arguably stronger but not their attack.

^^^ posts like that make it more satisfying when we absolutely dominate

Probably will, but before the game I'm not going to be thinking "Oh god we're going to get destroyed here", I'll be thinking "We stand a good chance here". Go into thinking the worse we may as well fly back from Miami after the friendlies and not go to Brazil.

As a neutral, though one that admitedly has watched little both Premiership and Serie A the past 2 years or so, I think there's very very little between England and Italy's squads.

Attack: Miroslav Klose (Lazio) ( :) )

No Volland though :(

Good to see Draxler, Kramer and Durm (I wasnt in his favor before but he impressed me) in there! Will give them a boost.

Nice that Löw kept Grosskreutz in as well after his antics lately.

Funny to see only ONE real striker only in the squad...Couldve done with Mario Gomez instead of Özil

Schmelzer had got some injury issues throughout the season already and Durm did a fine job in replacing him at BVB so it didnt come as a very big surprise that Schmelzer is not going. I always thought he was overvalued, he is too weak defensively to warrant a place in the german national team. Durm is better in that department and he´s got way more talent than the labourer Schmelzer.

Meh.

It's rare cause I don't think he deserves to be after what he did in his last matches for us but then comes to mind that he played in a decent level for City and we have F Fernandez who is there just because the coach know him from Estudiantes so it's okay, maybe he can be a starter. If it was up to me i was picked Otamendi, Garay and Musacchio.

Banega played really awfull at Newell's and Sosa after the UCL final cut out himself.

Didn't realise Mondragon was still in the Colombia squad :D He went to USA 94 ffs.

Is that a record for a player named in squads 20 years apart? A couple of players have done 5 tournaments (Matthaus, Mexican keeper whose name escapes me), but Mondragon there would be 6 if Colombia had qualified for them all.

A few players dropping and I am half expecting one England injury, as per our usual

We kind of forget that we're missing Walcott and he's one I was looking forward to being at this World Cup. Stuff like Montolivo the other day, I am expecting one of them for us. It's almost too quiet on the England 'problems' front :D
