Carmi88
Hleb was fantastic at everything except shooting, then Barca ruined him
Henry_14
Yeah, I don't see what was amusing about Barca buying him, he was fantastic that last season at Arsenal. He wasnt really - he was one of the the most "useless" gifted players i've ever seen. Useless in the sense he didnt really achieve much, great skill control would spin round on the spot flick the ball from one foot to another in the blink of an eye beat a player twice before beating another and then pinging the ball out of play or laying it off straight to an oppo player
Henry_14
it was quite amusing how within 2 years he'd gone from signing for Barca in a £10M+ transfer deal to being on loan at Birmingham maybe the ice cream in Birmingham is good
johnhughthom
As I said, his first few seasons were certainly like that, he actually had some end product the season before Barca snapped him up.
Chr1s Lawson
Hleb used to be able to beat his first man while dribbling like nobody I've seen but had one of the worst shots ever, makes gervinho look like a world beater.
djvandyke
Glad Theo signed da ting but only 3 ½ years? Will we not have have the same sh*t again at the end of next season?
Retro
Hleb used to be able to beat his first man while dribbling like nobody I've seen but had one of the worst shots ever, makes gervinho look like a world beater.his decision making was atrocious as well. aggressive minor
Glad Theo signed da ting but only 3 ½ years? Will we not have have the same sh*t again at the end of next season? Well you can see the logic, given Theo's age. Long enough of a contract to give a commitment, but short enough to give him some options if Arsenal don't improve. Razzler
Yeah, 'don't walk out on a free now, give it 3 years and do it - we're still giving you the option'
Falahk
We were never in for Llorente he is quite similar to Giroud. main difference being that Llorente is about twise as clinical when given chances....but oh well, other then that they are similar player types
Eugster
Hopefully we'll try and sign Ben Arfa after Newcastle go down. Maybe Cabaye too.
ajw10
So apparently Newcastle being interested in Yanga-Mbwia means that we are now in for him. Classic us, being reactive.
SJ234
He is a good player who I like and want but wouldn't it be weird for us to sign him as our 4th choice cb. He isn't that great in midfield he was excellent v us but other games not so much. I think Mertesacker is our only cb though who we can pretty safely say will be playing for us next season. Anyway I really like the idea of Mertesacker being the collector https://twitter.com/bootifulgame/status/292735058224246784/photo/
PaulHartman71
yeah he wouldn't be 4th choice...
Eugster
From what I've seen of him and read about him he isn't better than what he have. I'd obviously take him but wouldn't be overly fussed if we don't get him. Need a midfielder and striker much more.
SteveUK
If reports are to be believed Spurs are now sniffing around Diame to replace Sandro whos broken for the rest of the season. Pleased to see Walcott sign, but its 19th, come on Arsenal! sign some players, give us atleast a tiny bit of excitement!
Carmi88
So what is the score gonna be tomorrow guys? Demba Ba to score 2 against us again? Or will Walcott celebrate his contract with a few goals?
SteveUK
Well i said we would lose this fixture at the start of the month, and ive not changed my opinion on it, 3-1 Chelski again, Demba Ba, Mata, Torres and Walcott for us.
Motherlover
He wasnt really - he was one of the the most "useless" gifted players i've ever seen. Useless in the sense he didnt really achieve much, great skill control would spin round on the spot flick the ball from one foot to another in the blink of an eye beat a player twice before beating another and then pinging the ball out of play or laying it off straight to an oppo player Agreed. The only thing he was good at was dribbling as far as I could see. I always thought of him as a hideously overrated one-trick pony.
Kawee
I think it was in 07/08? Our team was actually a lot of fun to watch back then. It was the season after RvP left. Our midfield of Rosicky (pre-injury,) Cesc, Flamini, and Hleb was really good. I think the front two was usually Adebayor + Eduardo/RvP. I think if you surround Hleb with runners, he does really well. That year, Rosicky, Cesc, and the front two were all goal-threats. Flamini and Cesc worked really hard to create space, and Eboue ran up and down the field all day long. When you give Hleb that many options, he has the ability to keep hold of the ball, and link the defense/midfield, with the midfield/attack.
SJ234
Sagna's first season he was excellent that season as was Clichy who hasn't quite been the same since that Birmingham incident. I think we can win today if we line up like we did against Swansea if not I don't hold out much hope
chris79
I was optimistic before the Mc game, but here I have little hope we can avoid a bad defeat. Also it will be 3rd start for Diaby in 7 days, so...
Chr1s Lawson
Can't see us winning today and likely scorers are to be ba, mata and hazard, the 3only players we dwelt on for too long before chelsea bought them, sods law and all that!
SJ234
Unchanged team. Both Chamberlain and Podolski are ill so they aren't on the bench. We have no other attacking options then :/
ajw10
Torres starts! Frimpong on the bench Terrible squad.

SJ234
Torres starts!Frimpong on the bench Terrible squad. Yep, the lack of attacking options is embarrassing. SteveUK
Gonna have to review my 3-1 Chelsea win scoreline at this rate, could end up in double figures for them.
Sy13
Remember, Wenger baulked at the transfer fee and wages for Mata then later sold RvP for footballing reasons after being convinced to sell on the phone by Fergie himself.... He then dropped Theo for 2 months before caving in to his demands whilst not doing anything about the defence for 5 years. Nothing but decline under AW. This could be at least six or seven to Chelsea by FT.
Retro
I don't see how anyone can claim Diaby is a good player. Would rather have Ramsey out there ffs.

Said something similar a while back, got moaned at alot lol, hes really easy to show on to his weaker foot and run into dead ends, one foot wonder, without the wonder. SteveUK
Corner taking practise needed too Noticed Theo keeps taking Set pieces now and then, wish he wouldnt, should be down to Cazorla/Arteta/Wilshere, players with passing ability.

Sparky9334
They have so much space. We could go out and spend 100mill tomorrow, it won't make any difference. The tactics aren't working and we have no idea how to change. The players look half interested abd even when we have the ball we look devoid of ideas. 4th is gone this season

Jisntdaman
At least stop moaning until the game has finished. All it takes is one goal to get back into it. Actually, noticed this is the club thread, not the game one. Fair enough then. If only Giroud had scored before the 1st goal..

People don't understand it when I say I want Arsenal to miss out on 4th just so the tide completely turns against Wenger and he gets hounded out. It's because I don't trust him with the money - he could bring in 4 or 5 brilliant players but he'd still still use inept tactics and formations. Wenger is finished.
