Chr1s Lawson
Somewhere a kitten dies, everytime a Centrehalf is forced to take a direct freekick. Only gotta look at our kick takers to see how we're lacking in that department, walcott has never scored a freekick and neither has tv!

SJ234
Ref didn't help but the defending around it was awful and they could have had a pen against Diaby. Once again a 1 half performance. Really irritating.

pearcey_90
Cant see how they say it was a dive. When moving forward than having to move to right, your right leg goes down infront of you to than allow the turn of the body where you than push off on our left leg. You don't plant your right leg to the right. How Jamie and co can say it's un natrual is ludicrous. Like to see them move 1m forward than turn right and see where there right leg goes. bergkamp
Was a strange game in terms of the contrast between the two half's. Why we didn't play in the first half, I don't know, although Chelsea were sharp. Its frustrating though, because the way we played showed a lot in the second and we started to look like the home team. It did however, also highlight that we are missing something, with no goal threat to come off the bench. The way the game was going, with us in the ascendency, it was set for a top striker to come on and give us that extra push, but we don't have it. Impressed with how much Gibbs has improved. Coquelin as well, I think he can be a real good player.

Jisntdaman
RvP with another goal. Sold for footballing reasons. Sy13
Getting £24m for him means squat. We'll finish outside the top 4, not qualify for UCL, and it'll cost us the same money. Sy13
May be a hindsight point but it's rather true. If you look back in this thread to last summer, I was making EXACTLY the same point. It wasn't hindsight back then. Problem with you Sy is that you make the wrong points. The point to be made is questioning why his contract only had a year to run I think RvP's situation was rather unique because he hadn't been fit for any length of time before last season. Had he broken down again he probably would have been released anyway and he wouldn't have become what he is now. However, the question is why do we suffer from so many crippling injuries for long periods so often? then he would have less chance of getting a big contract at a different club Exactly this, and I also made that point last summer. Anyone who thinks RvP would've lounged around on his £75k/week when he could've played his heart out for a bigger contract elsewhere are utterly deluded. SJ234
Didn't wanna renew, club not showing ambition, best players sold constantly, wanted to win trophies etc. Everyone knows the point. It is clear why last summer but why wasn't he offered one earlier as it was clear he was a very talented player and his injuries aren't a result of one chronic issue unlike Diaby. Sy13
Oh, and just in case anyone has lost the perspective, Fergie called Wenger on the phone and convinced him to sell RvP to United. By the way, Wenger is on £7m a year which is more than Fergie whilst we pay the highest ticket prices in the land. All the while things get worse every season. Happy new year.
