birdy123
Ladies and Gentlemen, it's that time of the year again. The time where we celebrate the previous 12 months of Challenges, Sign-ups and AI Experiments. Below this, you will see a list of the nominations, complete with reasons and links. If you are not sure about who to vote for, please check these out, as I am sure you will find something out that you didn’t realise before that will swing your vote. The voting list will follow this post. Challenges Best challenge What it says on the tin…. This award goes to what you think the best challenge of FM08 has been: dafuge's FM08 small club to big club challenge Author: dafuge Probably the most popular challenge ever in this forum, over 500 people have started a game and registered on its website http://www.dafugeschallenge.com/. Involves taking a team from below the BSN/S and taking them all the way to the Premier League and Champions League title. Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge Author: Gundo A version of dafuge’s challenge based around the same idea using clubs from small European nations. This has provided an interesting and popular challenge that explores some of the problems with trying to achieve great things with a truly tiny club. Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off Author: bermybhoy This new concept is a mixture of a challenge and a sign up as two teams of players (the Southern Softies and the Northern Monkeys) compete against each other in the task of taking a club from the BSN/S to the Premier League, under the manager names of the legendary Danny Roberts and Paul Wallace. Hardest Challenge Fairly straightforward again, this award will go to the challenge you feel is move difficult to accomplish: Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge Author: Gundo The challenge of winning the Champions League with a small club from a small country can be almost impossible depending on which country is chosen. So far there are just two recorded people who have completed it, pjtopor in Poland and cookie15 in Norway. San Marino "double" Challenge 2008 Author: Ter For the third year running, Ter has set the double task of taking the San Marino club side from the lower Italian leagues to Serie A and to qualify for an international tournament with the international side. The Danny Roberts Challenge : Difficulty GODLIKE (Part 2.) Author: Nepenthez Pretty simple idea; manage a player who scores 1000 goals. Not that simple to achieve, not only does it require finding an outstanding youngster but the commitment to play long enough to give him the chance. Two people have managed this on FM08, NepentheZ with Paul Wallace and Ridleys with Dean Evans. Most Enjoyable Challenge This goes to perhaps not the best challenge on the forum, but the one that you have most enjoyed competing in, or what you would believe would be the most enjoyable to take part in: Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off Author: bermybhoy A new idea this year, the interactive, competitive story based approach to a challenge has really caught the imagination of people. It has created some great discussion and gives the manager a real chance in the spotlight, with a group of people genuinely enthusiastic about their progress. dafuge's FM08 small club to big club challenge Author: dafuge Just seems to keep attracting people back all the time, perhaps due to the familiarity of the English leagues. This is the third year it has been run and it seems to be gaining in popularity every year. The Career Thread Author: n/a Maybe not as strictly structured as the other challenges, but this thread has encouraged people to play the game and post about their games in a way which they perhaps would not have done before. Most Popular Player This award is given to the player who has become most famous throughout the course of completing challenges in FM2008. They may not be worldwide names, but to the participants of the CSE forum, they are legends in their own right: Paul Wallace A product of Gundo’s challenge and the first recorded player to score over 1000 goals in FM08. Wallace spent his career at Knockbreda in Northern Ireland scoring an incredible 1073 goals in total, 4 of them for Northern Ireland. After retiring, Wallace went into coaching before earning the job as assistant manager at Knockbreda. Brian Taylor A product of dafuge’s challenge, Brian Taylor is a real rags to riches story. Signed as a 16 year old for Prescot Cables in the BSP, he stayed with the club all the way to the Premier League and Champions League titles. Scored 43 goals in 62 games for Northern Ireland. Dean Evans Another product of Gundo’s challenge, Dean Evans was the second FM08 player to record 1000 goals. Another player to ply his trade in the Northern Irish league, Evans notched up 1000 goals in an incredible 691 games. He also had an incredible scoring record for Wales, notching up 49 goals in 74 games. Best failed challenge This award will go to the challenge that you feel should have had greater success in the forum during the past 12 months than it actually received: The Monthly Challenges An idea started by dafuge to bring short season long challenges to the forum on a monthly basis. Unfortunately the interest in them diminished with just 5 people completing the season for the April Challenge. Hopefully this is something that can be re-launched in the future. Dave's Hall of Fame Challenge. A great idea involving managing in various countries across the globe, unfortunately there wasn’t much interest in it. Possibly one that has potential to return for FM09? The Great Escape Challenge A great idea for a short-term challenge based around trying to save Bournemouth from relegation. It proved to be very difficult, almost impossible but unfortunately not that many people attempted it. Sign-ups Best Sign Up Speaks for itself, this award will go to the sign you will has been the best of the past 12 months: The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins! Author: Walcott’s Wonderkids A variation on the ‘create a striker’ idea where users create a striker from a European nation to compete in the Eurovision Striking Contest, where the strikers are competing against each other to win points by performing in international matches. This innovative approach to tracking player progress has kept a large number of people interested in this hugely popular thread. Create a Striker and Score Goals for a Small Country Author: LokedOut420 The original 'create a striker and follow him' sign up of the modern CSE era. Around since the days of FM07, but is still has a popular following and the updates have never diminished in quantity or quality from LokedOut420, a veteran of FM sign ups. An innovative sign up including features such as video highlights of the goals of the month. Cove Bay Pirates/STI v. City Merchants/NTI - The Ultimate Rivalry - This Time It's For Real!!! Author: DodgeeD The first sign up from one of the newer CSE members that started with a twist on a well known format - a two team rivalry not only on a club but also international level. Whilst most of the in-game players have left their original teams, the intergame rivalry between the two countries, North & South Treasure Islands in the Caribbean, is still going strong. Best Sign Up Idea This award will go to the sign up that may not necessarily have been the most successful, but certainly was the best idea during the last 12 months: The All American Managerial Contest *Where Block Voting is highly encouraged* Author: PaulHartman71 A manager sign up, with participants each creating and following their manager, in charge of a national team from across the length and breadth of the Americas. Participants provide votes at the end of each season with 2,4,6,8,10 and legendary douze points as to who they believe has managed their respective country best over the past 12 months. The sign up is now just as famous for its suspense, narration by the author and block voting: as to who actually wins the competition!!! The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition Author: Canvey An adaption of the popular TV series, this sign up sees 20 players, each managing a Premiership football team, split into 2 sides, with weekly tasks set for the participants. At the end of the task, 3 teams from the least successful side face the chop, with one person, as I’m sure you all know… getting fired! The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins! Best Sign Up Team Name This award goes to the best team name in a sign up during the last 12 months. Cove Bay Pirates Author: Dodgee D Capital City Merchants Author: Dodgee D Sporting Lisburn Author: Wisla Krakow Best Failed Sign Up This award will go to the sign up that you think had real potential, but for one reason or another, just didn’t really take off: The Challenged Forum's Fantasy Football Author: NepentheZ NepentheZ started a fantasy football sign up in which you would select a squad of players and they would score you points throughout the season. This was a hugely ambitious and original idea, but sadly the following was far too small for the amount of work that needed to be put in. The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck Author: birdy123 Another innovative sign up that never really got off the ground; birdy designed a sign up where each player took it in turn to select players from a roster for their team. Each team had a budget from which to spend from. Terrific idea that created a spin off in the form of Ridley’s version. The "it could be you... who's crap!" sign up Author: Iseemonsters A ‘follow your player’ sign up with a difference – this time you were given a totally random potential ability, which meant your player could be the a national hero or they could be a lower league legend. Completely different to the usual set of superstar following sign ups and it was a shame that it did not continue for longer. AI Experiments Best experiment This award goes to the AI experiment that over the past 12 months has been the best test of Football Manager: AI Experiment - what would happen if? Author: Kipfizh Probably the best known AI experiment, Kipfizh created ‘The Bandits’ – a club with perfect facilities and rich chairman, who also had a team of superstars youngsters in every position. Initially it started off following the players and The Bandits, but it soon expanded into much more, analysing the wider FM world in the game, especially after the superstar players retired from playing. A must read for any wannabe experiment writer! Mechanics of Manager Reputation Author: Morridin (although with large contributions from ZJ) A hidden gem of the CSE forums. Morridin decided to scientifically analyse the mechanics of manager reputation and in doing so, produced some of the most detailed and interesting posts that many an AI experiment sadly lack. If you have never heard of this thread, take a look at it – fascinating. AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation Author: Wegason Possibly the most work ever put into an AI experiment to create it, Wegason create (took over) a country and created a whole new set of clubs and a nation for those clubs, to see how the country would develop over time. One of the truly great AI experiments for FM08. Best idea for an experiment This award goes to the AI experiment that is the most innovative and original test of Football Manager: Disharmony FC - a story of love and hate Author: bermybhoy bermybhoy came up with the great idea of testing how a squad could cope with a difference of personalities within the squad. Each position in the squad is divided into two cliques, to see if they can overcome their hatred for each other for the good of the team. Mechanics of Manager Reputation Author: Morridin Exploring manager reputation is a rarely analysed element in AI experiments and Morridin set the benchmark for analysing this. AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation Author: Wegason The nomination panel and most of the forum are still astonished at the amount of effort Wegason poured into this experiment, setting up effectively a completely new country in FM. The challenge that emerged from this as well is well worth a look. Most important experiment findings This award will go to the experiment that you feel, looking back, has produced the most interesting and thought provoking findings for how the game works. See best AI experiment award for descriptions.: AI Experiment - what would happen if? Author: Kipfizh Mechanics of Manager Reputation Author: Morridin AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation Author: Wegason User Awards Possibly the most highly contested and interesting awards for the CSE Community. We have picked what we believe is a honest reflection of the CSE Community and have tried to honour the individuals who have had the greatest impact on threads during the past 12 months. Best User This award should go to not necessarily your favourite user on the CSE forums, but the user you feel has had the greatest impact on the forum in the last 12 months and who you feel that if they stopped posting, the CSE forum would be worse for it: NepentheZ He’s had a massive influence on the forums this year with his contribution to the challenges and his general all round presence on the forum. Not really one famous for starting threads more so for contributing to them, NepentheZ has still brought various concepts to the board. Notably the Youth Player Project, but he has also resurrected The Danny Roberts Challenge and the Big Fat Goalie Challenge. birdy123 A long time member of the CSE forum, birdy has had a big influence on the way the forum is today. Whilst being an integral member of many sign up threads, Birdy was the co creator of the The Career Thread and also the host of the CSE awards for the second year now. Birdy has had an input into a huge number of threads in CSE, most notably in the sign up and experiments threads. Walcott's Wonderkids Another long time member of the forum, Walcott’s Wonderkids has also had a big influence on the CSE forum. Possibly one of the most prolific sign up thread starters, he has had great success this year with The Eurovision Striking Contest and The Commentators Curse. Walcott’s Wonderkids has also had an input into a large number of threads on CSE, taking part in various sign up threads and experiments while maintaining his own. Best Standard of Updates from a User This award should go to the individual who you feel has consistently over the last 12 months has produced the highest quality of updates for people following the threads they have started themselves: kipfizh kipfizh has become a famous name across the SI forums through his superb delivery in AI Experiment - what would happen if? Never before has someone been able to captivate such a large number of people with a story like his as he tested the way the AI dealt with certain conditions. His superbly detailed reports and fluid story telling style have kept people coming back for more. An example of his updates. Walcott's Wonderkids Walcott’s Wonderkids really set the bar this year with his updates in The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins!. His mixture of screenshots and coded tables has made this sign up thread a pleasure to read with a plethora of information provided on the progress of each player. An example of his updates. PaulHartman71 With his unique idea The All American Managerial Contest *Where Block Voting is highly encouraged* Paul has provided excellent updates with a mixture of informative tables, suspense building posts and good humour in his updates. An example of his updates. Best contribution to a challenge This award should go to the poster who you feel has made the highest quality of posts in a challenge they have been competing in: michaeltmurrayuk A long time contributor to dafuge’s challenge, michaeltmurrayuk has provided superb updates documenting his team conquering the challenge and beyond. It’s always nice to see a user continue to update on their game even after they have completed the challenge and michaeltmurrayuk has done that, giving us an idea about exactly how far you can go with a small English club. An example of his updates. NepentheZ After a massive contribution to both Gundo and dafuge’s challenges, NepentheZ has expanded into turning his own save games into great new threads such as a resurrection of the Pele challenge (now changed to Roberts) and the brilliant new Youth Player Project. An example of his updates. ejthegreat Like michaeltmurrayuk, ejthegreat has provided us with fantastic updates detailing his achievements in dafuge’s challenge. Another person who has carried on to produce fantastic updates after completing the challenge. An example of his updates. Best contribution to a sign up This award should go to the poster who you feel has made the highest quality of posts in a sign up they have been taking part in, but not running themselves: route1 Since becoming more well known amongst the sign up fraternity, route1 has always made sure that he posts regularly in the sign up he participates in and crucially, always tries to say more than the generic one or two phrases in his responses. Robert_296 Robert_296 is one of the more visible followers of sign ups he takes part in and it is always nice when running sign ups to see people following every update made by the thread starter with eager anticipation. Dodgee D Dodgee D is one of the more thoughtful posters in sign ups and you can regularly tell that he has been through the updates with a fine tooth comb to work out how his player has performed, as this is reflected in his posts. In fairness, all of those comments could have been written against any of the 3 nominees, which is an example of why they are regarded as high quality posters. You now decide which has made the best contribution to the sign ups they have participated in. Most reliable user This award should go to the individual who you feel is regularly on the forum, produces updates when they say they will and always lets you know if they are going away for a few days: bermybhoy bermybhoy was responsible for the innovative Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off where he has kept the competitors well organised which has allowed the thread to flow. Always willing to handle a debate, bermybhoy has always been willing to listen to people and settle arguments, making sure his rules are clear and appropriate. Walcott's Wonderkids Currently working on The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins!, Walcott’s Wonderkids has provided excellent and regular updates, keeping everyone in touch with the thread. This is not new though, Walcott’s Wonderkids has been doing this ever since the CSE forum was formed. Robert_296 Probably best known for The Premiership Predictions league, Robert has kept this going with ruthless efficiency. Always willing to draw the line and enforce deadlines, Robert has done a splendid job on maintaining a potentially difficult thread. Most missed user This is a new award for this year and should go to the individual who is no longer so active in the CSE community compared to when the forum first began back in 2007. As some of these names are only known to some of the older members of the forum, a description has been provided detailing of what they brought to the community: chrisbamb chrisbamb was the creator of one of the most unique sign-ups on the forums. He was a big part of the original sign-ups back in GQ. He hasn’t been around for the past year or so, and his presence on the forums has been greatly missed. Jimbokav1971 After winning the ‘best user’ award last year, Jimbo has practically disappeared from the forums apart from the odd cameo appearance. Jimbo was highly involved in both dafuge’s and Gundo’s challenges and will probably always be remembered for the inception of ‘Super Kyle’ some time ago. His unique style on the forum has been sorely missed this year. Barnsley Barnsley basically invented sign-ups as you see today. FMF was the first major sign-up in GQ, and every sign-up that is around today takes some influence from it. Even Wisla’s World famous sign-up was heavily influenced by FMF. Barnsley has been around very little since the sign-ups moved to the CSE forum, but FMF will never be forgotten. User of the future This award should go to the individual who, whilst having not been on the forums for very long, has contributed significantly in the threads they are involved in and hopefully will go on to become a senior member of the community: canvey!! Relatively new to the CSE forum, canvey!! Has gradually branched out from the challenge threads to become an important part of the forum in general. Currently running the excellent The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition, he has already shown he has some great ideas and the ability to pull them off. rancer890 Despite being around on the forums since 2006, rancer890 is relatively new to the CSE forum. Initially showing an interest in a variety of threads, rancer890 is now running FMO8 A New World -- Sign Up, AI Experiment & Challenge All In One !!!!!, showing he is more than capable of running a good sign up thread. roberto922 New to the forums in general, roberto922 has quickly found the CSE forum and come up with some innovative ideas of his own. The CSE European Championships has been a great idea, introducing a tournament style to competing in FM challenges. Football: The Future is also looking like an interesting new idea. Fan's Favourite User The “People’s Choice” award of this years ceremony is arguably the most prestigious award. This award plain and simply goes to your favourite user of the CSE forums over the past 12 months: birdy123 A true fans favourite, Birdy has been one of the longest standing members of the CSE forum, being around since its inception. Has evolved into one of the best posters on the board and is active in several sign ups and is always keen to get involved in the behind the scenes aspects of the forum. Johnny K would be proud :**) NepentheZ Has had a vital role in the CSE forum over the last 12 months. He has made a huge contribution to Gundo’s and dafuge’s challenges and has even developed his own challenges. One of the best posters currently on the forum, his popularity and respect throughout the forum is widespread. dafuge The current holder of the award and resident mod of the CSE forums. dafuge has been around the SI forums for years now and his posts tend to be considered and of the highest quality. Achievements this year include another successful edition of dafuge’s challenge and playing an anchor role with his mod duties in helping the CSE forum become the CSE community. Finally, I would like to publicly thank dafuge and Walcott's Wonderkids for their huge efforts in this. Without them, the awards would certainly not be at this stage, and this in-depth. The voting form will follow this post.

Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Right, someone has to kick this off, so I might as well. Not voting for myself as that is just wrong! Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - Just plain and simply the best challenge on the forum, long may it continue (even if I barely take part each year!) Hardest Challenge The Danny Roberts Challenge : Difficulty GODLIKE (Part 2.) - Close one between this and the San Marino challenge, but I think this one just edges it. Most Enjoyable Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - Basic idea is fun, even if trying to complete it isn't so much! Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - Only one I really know anything about. Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - Cracking idea in theory, which I'm sure will get more attention in the future once it's tweaked a bit and the scenario plan gets the go ahead. Sign-ups Best Sign-up Create a Striker and Score Goals for a Small Country - The detail and effort put into it by LokedOut420 is incredible, plus the fact that it's been going on for about a year now! Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition - Like the way its been successfully transferred from TV to FM, plus also the way the thread is put together. Best Sign-up Team Name Capital City Merchants - Go NTI!!! Best Failed Sign-up The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck - This idea has been floating around the forum for over a year now and without anyone really pulling it off, definitely a sign up idea that could be brilliant if done correctly. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - Doesn't need an explanation really does it... just the god of how to analyse FM and has made me thought so much more about players in FM, even how I talk about players in my sign ups. Best Idea for an Experiment AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation - Completely original idea and Wegason deserves the credit for all the time and effort he put in just to set it up. Most Important Experiment Findings Mechanics of Manager Reputation - Didn't even know this thread existed until the nominees were selected, but the effort and results are incredible and well worth a read incase any of you have a spare few minutes. User Awards Best User NepentheZ - His contribution to the challenges and in setting up his own threads make him stand out as the best allround user of the forum. Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh - Because if Carlsberg did FM updates, then they would employ kipfizh to do the best FM updates in the world. Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk - The effort he puts into writing updates in the challenge threads needs to be recognised. Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D - Always responds to updates in a sign up thread he is taking part in and the way he comments lets the thread starter know that he has looked in detail at what has been written / produced in the thread. Most Reliable User Robert_296 - Always around, always responds promptly to updates in your sign ups and always lets other people know when he won't be around. Most Missed User chrisbamb - Ran one of the best sign ups on the forum and ran it so well. Hopefully one of you new guys can pick up where he left off for a FM09 version (hint hint !) User of the Future canvey!! - Although he has been around the forums slightly longer than the other two, he has contributed in the challenges and then his own thread is going great guns. Hopefully in the following months he can be a major contributor to the forums. Fan's Favourite User dafuge - All 3 are great users, but dafuge has contributed so much in turning this forum into a community over the past 12 months that I think he deserves the recognition, again! PaulHartman71
Might as well get my votes in early I suppose... Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - I think it's a great challenge and it's superbly run Hardest Challenge The Danny Roberts Challenge : Difficulty GODLIKE (Part 2.) - I think this is obviously one of the hardest challenges, trying to get a player to score 1000 goals is definitely no walk in the park. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - It's a really, really enjoyable challenge full of banter, which just makes things a lot more enjoyable. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - Wallace > Roberts any day. Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - Sparked my idea of doing the '20/20 Challenge' so yeah, it gets my vote. Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins - Great sign-up, that is very well run by WW. Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition - I've already given the Eurovision 1 vote, I can't vote for myself (even if I could I wouldn't as that wouldn't be proper), so i'll vote for this brilliant sign-up, I really love the TV show The Apprentice, and to have it made into a sign-up is a dream come true for me. Best Sign-up Team Name Cove Bay Pirates - I always loved the name 'Orlando Pirates', so I had to love this name too Best Failed Sign-up It Could be you who's Crap - Wasn't around for the other two, and I think Ridleys deserves it, not just for this one but all the other ones he's messed up. Good to see him in a successful sign up with Robert though AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - Brilliant experiment, I've enjoyed reading all 38 pages of it Best Idea for an Experiment Mechanics of Manager Reputation - I thought this was a very interesting idea, as i've always been interested in this sort of thing. Most Important Experiment Findings AI Experiment - what would happen if? - Not just the findings themselves but the way it was written and given to us, was truly magnificent. User Awards Best User NepentheZ - Nep just seems to be everywhere on the forum, and contributes very well to what he takes part in. Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh - His updates are brilliant, and you can see that a LOT of effort goes into them. Best Contribution to a Challenge NepentheZ - I haven't really heard of the other two, so I guess Nep gets another vote Best Contribution to a Sign-up DodgeeD - I didn't give him a vote earlier, and the hard work he's put into the NTI and STI sign-up really deserves something. Most Reliable User Robert_296 - He's a very reliable person, he was always the one organising the FMO sessions, always the first there and first to leave. A good friend on the forum too. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - Haven't heard of the other two so Jimbobokav gets my vote here. User of the Future canvey!! - The other two have been on here for less time, but canvey!! has imo made a much bigger impact in his time here, he's a great person to have in your sign-up, his enthusiasm lead to me playing a bit of a prank on him in my sign-up recently Fan's Favourite User dafuge - Not just a sympathy vote because their wasn't a favourite mod category, without dafuge I don't know how CSE would cope, he definitely deserves this award. Hardest Challenge The Danny Roberts Challenge : Difficulty GODLIKE (Part 2.) - gets my vote as it's a challenge anyone can do with any game. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - a great idea for a challenge and one I've looked in on before. glennuk
Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - Best out of the three slightly, its hard to choose as i have only just started it, but i think its a good idea and one tha has brought many new forumers to the CSE section of the forums. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge - It kind of depends in which league you start, but i think this is the hardest challenge i have seen, i am yet to complete it. Most Enjoyable Challenge The Career Thread - Its all about the career for me, i also like it as there is no points system, so you don't have to worry about going for that extra goal to get points. Also i love the fact that i can move cluibs whenever i like and just let people know how i am doing (Though i haven't for a while). Its what got me back into FM, and now i am addicted again. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - I hope this challenge will come back up and be started again for FM09, its fun to play one season challenges, and i like the idea of having a month of december winner etc. Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition - Great idea and one i would have liked to be a part of. Best Sign-up Team Name Cove Bay Pirates - Great name. Most Missed User chrisbamb User of the Future Rancer890 - Good user, he updates often, he signs up to alot of experiments and sign ups and contributes well to them as well. Fan's Favourite User dafuge - Sorry but no question on this one, Dafuge is like the King of the CSE forums and i would follow him into battle LOL. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge (the only one of the 3 i have played.) NepentheZ
Challenges Best Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge This was one of the hardest choices ever. Gundo / Dafuge's Challenges have both had massive impacts on my FM saves. I've had to go with Gundo's, because in my experience, its actually more challenging, and gave me 35 seasons of my greatest ever career. Homage to Dafuge's Challenge, though. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge Of the three, quite simply the hardest. As mentioned above, 35 season I played Gundo's Challenge, and still didn't complete it.! I've never actually attempted the San Marino Double challenge (well, I did, but didn't get past the first week) - but of the updates I've read, its hard. Still though, the experience of participating in Gundo's Challenge is what edges this one. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off Most enjoyable simply because its got that community feel to it. It would be a lot less fun if the users involved didn't put in the effort the did / have. Most Popular Player Dean Evans Obviously cant vote myself, and haven't heard of the other guy. Dean Evans, however, had the most phenominal career, scoring over 1,000 goals. Bravo. Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges Started off so brightly. But fell pretty fast Sign-ups Best Sign-up Create a Striker and Score Goals for a Small Country A great sign up. I've been involved in this, (even if I don't show it) - and the fact that its lasted for a prolonged period is just brilliant. Best Sign-up Idea The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins! A fantastic idea, and a great way to allow others to Enjoy FM. (Yet another sign-up I missed out on) Best Sign-up Team Name Sporting Lisburn No question really. Very clever. Best Failed Sign-up It Could be you who's Crap Haven't really read much into the two that I wasn't involved in, but I do know that this failed spectacularly. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? Quite simply one of the best AI Experiments ever. Best Idea for an Experiment AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation Again, another experiment to shed light on new findings in FM. Interesting to read, too. Most Important Experiment Findings AI Experiment - what would happen if? Due to the standard of the Experiment, pretty much. User Awards Best User birdy123 Close between Birdy and WW, but the sheer mass of Birdy's posts is what knocks him over the edge. Always on hand to help out, and is involved in almost everything that goes on in the forum. Best Standard of Updates from a User Walcott's Wonderkids His updates are what keep people interested in his threads. The other two also give great updates, but WW has always produced top quality. (Can I be cheeky and ask why MichaelMurrayUK wasn't in this category? I would have voted him.) Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk Micheals contribution to Dafuge's Challenge is exceptional. His updates are very intense, and leave me very satisfied when I finish reading them. Truly inspirational. Best Contribution to a Sign-up Robert_296 Robert seems to be involved in EVERY sign up. He's always a quality poster, and helps others in the forums. Most Reliable User bermybhoy From what I can see, has spent most of his Forum Time in CS&E. Fantastically reliable, and has held the Wallace / Roberts challenge together for a prolonged period of time. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 To be honest - I hadn't even noticed the other two were regulars on CSE. However, no matter who he came up against, Jimbo would have got my vote. We seemed to share a lot of the same views on this forum, and he was a very entertaining member. Has made a mini-comback recently, but I do miss him. User of the Future canvey!! Floats about in GQ too. A great poster, and an informative poster too. Never scared to express his views, and delivers very informative replies in a lot of threads. This guy already seems like he's been around for a long long time, and I hope he has the same sort of impact on the forum in the future. Fan's Favourite User Dafuge Easily Dafuge. IMO, one of the greatest posters on the entire forum, let alone CS&E - and the amount of effort he puts into these forums is worthy of an award on its own. Moderates very, very fairly - and answers users every demands usually within minutes. Holds the CS&E forum together at times. A great poster. So there we have it. My votes, My reasons. Thanks to all those that have voted for me - I was even surprised to be nominated for awards
weeeman27bob
Right, I mucked up my first post somewhat so i'll try again. Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - *The* Challenge Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge- Probably the hardest challenge ever. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - I don't play any of them, but the banter in this is something else Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - No contest for me Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - The challenge that led to 20/20 and CSE Euros Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins - the sign up the launched 5 others Best Sign-up Idea The All American Managerial Contest *Where Block Voting is highly encouraged* - Simply a great Idead Best Sign-up Team Name Sporting Lisburn Best Failed Sign-up The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck - A great idea that never quite worked AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - A great idea, and great results Best Idea for an Experiment Disharmony FC - a story of love and hate - Just a great idea Most Important Experiment Findings AI Experiment - what would happen if? - taught me alot about FM User Awards Best User NepentheZ - Seems to be everywhere and has a great quality of posts Best Standard of Updates from a User PaulHartman71 - Writes good, amusing updates Best Contribution to a Challenge NepentheZ - Takes part in loads of Challenges Best Contribution to a Sign-up Robert_296 Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids - Is always around Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - the only one i knew User of the Future canvey!! Fan's Favourite User dafuge - easily if i've made some change between last time and this one. use this one
dafuge
Challenges Best Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off A brilliant new idea which has brought a fantastic new spin on the challenge idea. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge Possibly the first challenge I've actually given up on, progression in the Champions League with a team from NI seemed so much harder than last year. Most Enjoyable Challenge The Career Thread Maybe not really a challenge but it has certainly kept me going, I think I've done more seasons in this than any other challenge this year. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace He may always live his life in the shadow of Danny Roberts but I think 'Warlock' deserves this award this year. Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges I know I started them but I was gutted they didn't quite take off. Hopefully something similar for FM09 will attract a few more people. Sign-ups Best Sign-up Create a Striker and Score Goals for a Small Country Probably the only sign up thread to continue from FM07, the videos of the goals in this were an amazing touch. Best Sign-up Idea The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins! Tough call this since there have been some great variations on the sign up theme this year but this one has provided a great twist on the 'create a striker' theme which has made it an enthralling read. Best Sign-up Team Name Sporting Lisburn Great name. Best Failed Sign-up The Challenged Forum's Fantasy Football So much effort went into this, I'm just gutted that a large number of the people who signed up to it didn't bother following it. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? Can't really argue with this, since FM07 it has been the best thread to read in this forum. Fantastic stuff. Best Idea for an Experiment Mechanics of Manager Reputation Really useful stuff, well worth a read. Most Important Experiment Findings Mechanics of Manager Reputation Some absolutely fascinating and well constructed findings in this thread, for which credit to ZJ should also be given. User Awards Best User NepentheZ His brilliant involvement in the threads I've been involved in gets him my vote, he has been superb this year. Anyone who can spawn a player who deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as Danny Roberts (even if it is Roberts > Wallace) deserves to win an award. Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh The updates on the fortunes of the Bandits have been nothing short of phenomenal. Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk He may not be a well known name in this forum but his updates on his Marine team have been brilliant. He's really set the bar for the quality of challenge updates. Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D A difficult one for me to vote on since I'm not involved in many sign ups, so I'm going on the description. In depth comments are always good. Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids Deserves this for his long term commitment to running sign up threads and his constant supply of updates for his current thread. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 A great person to have on the forum, he takes part in many challenges and always makes his points of view known (in the nicest of ways). User of the Future canvey!! Maybe not as new as the other two but he looks like he could become a major figure in this forum, his first sign up thread has been a great addition to the forum. Fan's Favourite User birdy123 The Freddie Flintoff of the forum, great all rounder and hugely popular.
MikaelS
so here are the votes from the Danish jury Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge Hardest Challenge The Danny Roberts Challenge : Difficulty GODLIKE (Part 2.) bermybhoy
Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - Love this, it's how I used to play the game going back yeeeears and it's nice to see the someone turned it into a popular challenge. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge - The evidence shows how tough it is, partly due to flaws in the game itself. Never tried it but doff my cap to anyone who puts up with the frustration of knowing none of your players will ever be worth serious money and constantly losing them to big clubs Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - Had a last minute change of heart and decided to vote fo a thread I started. Voting for it because I've genuinely got most enjoyment from it, simple as. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - Obviously Best failed challenge The Great Escape Challenge - I'm one of those that tried (and failed) this. I like the idea of spotting interesting 'situations' that crop up in games and can see stuff like this becoming big on the forum in future. Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins - nice idea and seems to be well run and well partcipated in. Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition - I'm still not sure I know what's going on here but fab idea nonetheless! Best Sign-up Team Name Sporting Lisburn Best Failed Sign-up The Challenges Forum's Fantasy Football - A fine idea, despite the typo in the title AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - Caused to me wasting enourmous amounts of time reading through and led me into the forum Best Idea for an Experiment AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation - demands respect for the outrageous amount of effort that's gone into it. Most Important Experiment Findings Mechanics of Manager Reputation - I've not really used it myself, but potentially useful for a lot of people. User Awards Best User NepentheZ - Always like Nep's enthusiasm for the game and the way he goes out his way to do things different - like making keepers score or playing guys with the pace of a geriatric tortoise just so they score a stupid number of goals. Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh - The effort this guy puts in is something else. I can only imagine how long each one takes Best Contribution to a Challenge NepentheZ - again clearly puts a lot of effort into updates, has people using his style and comes up with ideas to 'spice it up' like the (to me) slightly bonkers idea of trying to improve patently rubbish youth players by playing them in your first team Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D - tough one this as I don't look into these much. Dodgee D seems to get involved without being in every single one and being spread too thin. Also tried to take part in Wallace v Roberts but was unluckily thwarted by sinister government forces Most Reliable User Robert_296 - a top guy, would never have guessed how young he is by the maturity he shows. Also helped out a lot in setting up Wallace v Roberts, and proposed some key ideas without which it might not have worked. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - not sure of the others - seems to make an impact when he makes his infrequent forays in though User of the Future canvey!! - another good guy, likes to get involved. Fan's Favourite User dafuge - puts in a lot of effort and always thinking of ways to improve the forum as a whole.

Whoopy D
Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - Tried this a few times "unofficially" and theres no doubting it's a classic Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge - Again "unofficially" attempted this one but failed miserably and I haven't tried the other 2. Most Enjoyable Challenge The Career Thread - Love reading about all the different clubs and countries people find themselves playing in. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - Only one I've heard of Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - Quality idea that didn't get the interest it deserved, probably should've given them a go myself. Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins - The length of this thread and the amount of people still awaiting the next update with baited breath says enough really. Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition - Great idea just a shame I missed out Best Sign-up Team Name Sporting Lisburn - Can't vote for the northerners, my player hardly features for the STI national team and my player is doing well in for Sporting so it wins by default Best Failed Sign-up It Could be you who's Crap - All three were brilliant idea's but this one just edges it, I loved the idea from the start and thinking about doing a similar thing for FM09 (especiall if it wins here) AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - Simple enough idea turned into a fantastic story by kip and his incredible updates, also how I stumbled across this forum. Best Idea for an Experiment Disharmony FC - a story of love and hate - unfortunately the only one I've read of the three so. Most Important Experiment Findings AI Experiment - what would happen if? - We've found that no matter how long kip continues to play the game the Bandits are never going to win the EPL User Awards Best User NepentheZ - was a tough choice but I had to pick one Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh - I read the first post when the views was still only in double figures, came back a few months later and it took me 4 hours of reading to catch up, nothing has ever kept me reading for 4 hours except this. Best Contribution to a Challenge NepentheZ - Can't say I've read anything by the other two. Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D - Runs his own sign-up brilliantly and you can guarantee his posts in a sign-up he's involved in will be good ones. Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids - Lets us know when to expect the next update and usually delivers, the amount of time his sign-up has been going is incredible. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - Again a case of only having heard of one of the nominee's, however on the rare occasions that Jimbo posts you know its going to be worth a read. User of the Future canvey!! - Love the apprentice idea and always has a valuable point to make. Fan's Favourite User dafuge - No question about this one: Creates challenges, takes part in challenges, takes part in sign-ups, the forum would be lost without him and is seemingly always available to help. Robert_296
Challenges Best Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - I tried to get into both Gundos and dafuges challenge but couldn't but I have enjoyed takin part in both the challenge and the banter here. Hardest Challenge The Danny Roberts Challenge : Difficulty GODLIKE (Part 2.) - Only a few people have managed to do this and I'm sure many other people have tried so that shows just how hard it is. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - What I said in the first vote basically, I have really enjoyed the banter and of course helping the Softies move up the leagues. Most Popular Player Dean Evans - Paul Wallace is a Northern Monkey and I haven't heard of Brian Taylor so Dean Evans gets my vote. Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - I was only around here for the last two challenges and although I ddin't take part in them I would if they made a comeback. Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins - Really enjoyed his updates and although I like DodgeeD's effort the eurovision striking contest wins my vote. Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition - although I haven't watched the TV show I really enjoyed this sign up. Best Sign-up Team Name Capital City Merchants - NTI!!! Best Failed Sign-up The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck - I remember when I made the db because I really wanted it to happen but it hasn't even though I would definitely follow it. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? Haven't read either of the other two and from the bits of kipfizhs that I have read it has been excellent. Best Idea for an Experiment Disharmony FC - a story of love and hate - Really looked forward to reading it but it hasn't started. Most Important Experiment Findings Mechanics of Manager Reputation - Had a quick look at it and saw that it was very good. User Awards Best User Walcott's Wonderkids - great user as he does not only have a brilliant signup but is very active in other peoples. Best Standard of Updates from a User Walcott's Wonderkids - updates are always of a high quality and he obviously puts a lot of effort into them. Best Contribution to a Challenge NepentheZ - always posting in the challenge helping newcomers and posting updates of his own games. Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D - could have been either of him or Route1. Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids - he posts regular updates in his thread and they are very good. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - only one I've heard of. User of the Future canvey! - His apprentice signup has been brilliant and is always there to offer opinions and has not missed a week yet in my predicitons sign up. Frazza Pee
Challenges Best Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off It was a hard decision but this is just a brilliant idea and its really competitive. It also gets the community together to have a bit of a "discussion" in the thread. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge I don't how many times I've tried this but still not completed it. No contest. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off Again there is a good bit of "discussion" in the thread and its enjoyable because you don't just have your own pressure but the pressure of everyone else t do well. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace Wallace >>>>>>>>>> Roberts. That is all. Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges I wasn't around at the time but looking at them they do appear quite good. Hopefully they will be back for FM 09 Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins I'm not involved in this but I look at the thread from time to time and it looks brilliant. Great idea, but not as good as the way it is done. Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition Such an original idea. Full marks to Canvey!! for coming up with the idea. Best Sign-up Team Name Sporting Lisburn Brilliant name. Thats all. Best Failed Sign-up The Challenged Forum's Fantasy Football Good idea just a shame it wasn't comtinued. I'll dismiss the spelling mistake. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? No contest. Such a good way to see how the AI would respond to the situation. Best Idea for an Experiment Disharmony FC - a story of love and hate Can't wait until it gets started. Most Important Experiment Findings Mechanics of Manager Reputation Helpful, even if I can't understand half of it. User Awards Best User NepentheZ All of his posts are helpful. Such a respected member of not just CSE but also GQ. Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh Always gives 110% in his updates. I look forward to reading to updates. Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk This was probably the hardest group to decide but Michaeltmurrayuk just won it because of his updates in Dafuges challenge. Best Contribution to a Sign-up route1 Again, hard decision, but route1 won it, just, because of what he adds to sign-ups Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids Always sticks to his word if he says there will be an update, there will be an update. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 Don't know who any of them are but I sometimes see Jimbokav1971 post and his posts are very good. User of the Future canvey!! His apprentice sign-up is such an original idea with brilliant updates. Fan's Favourite User NepentheZ Puts so much into his posts it was a hard decision but Nep just won. Well done. wisla_krakow
Challenges Best Challenge dafuge's FM08 small club to big club challenge - Easy winner for me, always one of my first save games when I get FM is to play this challenge. Still to complete it however, have a good feeling about Billericay atm . Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 small club from a small nation European Adventure challenge - Tough for me as I've only played one of these briefly, so will vote for it. Seems quite a tough challenge indeed. Most Enjoyable Challenge dafuge's FM08 small club to big club challenge - If I didn't enjoy it I wouldn't do it every year! Great fun to sign a mix of randoms and old legends and try to bring your team up the leagues. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - Don't really have a preference on this one, gone for the player I've heard mentioned around more. Best Failed Challenge The Monthly Challenges - Had a lot of potential to be quite good and give a different style of challenge each month, FM09 could be a good time to bring them back. Sign-Ups Best Sign-Up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins!! - A close victor here, winning by the fact that this style of sign-up has caused many similar versions from around the world to appear on the forum; the format is obviously popular. Special mention also to Loked, his sign-up was also very good but it's just pipped to the post. Best Sign-Up Idea The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins!! - Similar reasons as to above, that it caused many sequels to be produced by other members of the board. Find the other two ideas potentially limiting, sound too much like challenges than sign-ups. Best Sign-Up Team Name Cove Bay Pirates - It's not as good as Sporting Lisburn but I'm not going to vote for my own sign-up am I! Best Failed Sign-Up The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck - Winner for me as I helped Birdy with the setup of it! And I'll also claim the rights to the name while I'm here . It was a good idea, shame it couldn't get off the ground. I've never looked too much into the experiments, so I won't unfairly leave a vote there with no real knowledge of the experiment. User Awards Best User NepentheZ - Going to have to go for him as I feel he's done the most challenge/sign-up wise to aid the forums, just ahead of Birdy as NepentheZ is a bit more "hands-on" imo. Sorry Birdy . Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh - His experiment is still going? Some commitment there if so. Saw some of his work before and it was indeed very detailed. Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk - Just takes this for me, since FM06 I've seen him putting in great updates in dafuge's challenge, and still does today. Best Contribution to a Sign-Up route1 - Tough choice as I also like DodgeeD. Strange category as the nominees really aren't that different from the large majority of other posters. Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids - I enjoy his frequent updates, I've not seen so much of the other two's sign-ups to be enough to vote for them. Most Missed User chrisbamb - Between two really for me but Bambi would win every time. A brilliant user and a very likeable person when he was around, doing some great sign-ups such as the manager sign-up and also an earlier sign-up in Italy. Sorely missed around here imo, and it's a shame he hasn't recieved as many votes as he deserves because quite a lot of members here won't have heard of him. A mention also to Barnsley, who gave me an influence for my first sign-up, and again also a likeable fellow and up for banter in the sign-up threads of old. User of the Future roberto922 - Blind stab in the dark here if I'm being honest, seen more of canvey!! but for a sign-up to reach 10 pages in just a few days (I wish people would post that much in mine! or at all for that matter...) is a great achievement. Fan's Favourite User birdy123 - I saved your vote right to the end mate :*).

Ridleys
Challenges Best Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - Pure fun for everyone that takes part. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge - 2 people have completed the challenge of hundreds that have started it. Fairly hard I would say. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - As I said before, fun for everyone that takes part. Most Popular Player Dean Evans - Please let me win something Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - Great idea's but not enough interest. Sign-ups Best Sign-up Dodgee D's NTI / STI sign up - Brilliant. Best sign up I am in. Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition - Very well thought out idea. Best Sign-up Team Name Cove Bay Pirates - None of them are particularly brilliant names but this ones the best of the bunch. Best Failed Sign-up The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck - Fantastic build up, then it stopped, justlike all my sign ups. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - Don't really follow any of the exeriments but this one has been the most succesful so it gets my vote Best Idea for an Experiment AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation - Only idea I have seen Most Important Experiment Findings Mechanics of Manager Reputation - Already voted for the other 2. User Awards Best User birdy123 - close but birdy gets the vote. Best Standard of Updates from a User Walcott's Wonderkids - Brilliant updates all the time from WW. Best Contribution to a Challenge NepentheZ - I think Nep takes par regularly in at least 4 challenges? Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D - Quick updates and very good updates as well. Most Reliable User Robert_296 - Probably the person I would rely on the most. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - Haven't heard of the other 2 User of the Future canvey!! - As long as you don't turn out like Frazza the future looks bright for this wonderkid. Fan's Favourite User dafuge - For all his effort around this forum it has to be dafuge.
GazTheDoood
Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - the original, the best. Hardest Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge - definitely a very difficult challenge, particularly so in leagues such as N.I and Iceland. That just makes it all the more enjoyable. Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off - not got round to my go yet, but the banter in the thread wins it for me. Just an enjoyable thread to be part of, thats why it gets my vote. Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - followed the escapades of all three, but 'The Warlock' is the one for me, over 1000 goals and a sign up/challenge named after him, no contest really. Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - I can't even think why I didn't take part in these, hope there back for FM09. Just need a follwoing and its a great idea. Sign-ups Best Sign-up Dodgee D's NTI / STI sign up - Brilliant. Loving being involved in this, Dodgee's updates are always fantastic, and the rivalry is just an intense even though the original players have left the original clubs. 'Come on Ye Pirates!' Best Sign-up Idea The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins! - Influenced so many other sign-ups around here this series, so gets my vote. Liked the idea so much, that I joined it! Best Sign-up Team Name Cove Bay Pirates - 'Cos they're my team. Long live the Captain. Best Failed Sign-up The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck - such a great idea, pity it didn't take off, as even though I wasn't involved, I intended to follow it. Really is a great idea. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - Just a brilliant experiment into the AI, backroom staff, player ability, manager ability, quality of regens on FM07, it's all covered. Kip's updates are fantastic, and the story of the Bandits is still going strong - a must read for those who haven't. Best Idea for an Experiment AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation - the sheer editing and the possible questions, scenarios and answers this poses is just astounding, a great idea. Most Important Experiment Findings AI Experiment - what would happen if? - As before mentioned, the experiment covers a whole range of AI matters, and Kip discusses them in length, so this gets the vote from me. User Awards Best User NepentheZ - Always around giving a solid opinion, takes part readily in the challenges, and always good for a bit of banter in the Wallace > Roberts battle. Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh - just got to be Kip. Followed the Bandits from the very beginning, and as regulars in there will agree, Kip's updates keep you hooked. They're in depth, they have suspense, they're detailed and must take lots of time and effort to keep repeating to the same standard. Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk - fantastic updates, that I regularly check for, and just an all round great job completing daf's challenge. Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D - great updates, and always is around to post, good posts too. Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids - given for his fantastic, consistent updates in the Eurovision thread. Always around the forum too, chipping in. Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - only know of this one, but miss his posting style and his contribution to threads. User of the Future roberto922 - involved in threads regularly, a good poster, and has started a great, original sign-up. Fan's Favourite User dafuge - S'gotta be daf. Changed this forum so much, his efforts deserve to be recognised, holds the forum together, and gets involved in the challenges and sign-ups.

michaeltmurrayuk
Alright better late than never. I'll have to abstain from some, mainly the signups as it's not fair to randomly pick if I don't follow them. I'll also try to be the bigger man and not vote for myself. Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - I've spent nearly the last 3 years doing this challenge, Marine now feels like a second home. Hardest Challenge San Marino 'double' Challenge 2008 - they are all hard, but this is possible the hardest. Most Enjoyable Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - I haven't heard of the other two, no mention of Danny Roberts? Best failed challenge The Monthly Challenges - I did mean to join in with these, but kept on forgetting. Best Sign-up Best Sign-up Idea Best Sign-up Team Name I'll have to abstain from these three. Wegason
I am going to vote for what I believe are honestly and objectively the best in their category. Challenges Best Challenge Gundo's FM08 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge Seems the most enjoyable, and the most varied challenge out there. The challenge I would do after my one, though Dafuge’s is tempting. Hardest Challenge San Marino 'double' Challenge 2008 I cannot imagine just how hard this challenge must be, a great challenge. Most Enjoyable Challenge The Career Thread The wide scope and encouragement to switch jobs makes this the most enjoyable. Most Popular Player Dean Evans Dean Evans was the goalscoring machine, never heard of Taylor. Best failed challenge The Great Escape Challenge Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins Great to follow, and good updates. Nice idea too. Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice: Football Manager Edition Super idea, excellently implemented Best Sign-up Team Name Cove Bay Pirates Best Failed Sign-up It Could be you who's Crap Easily, great idea and fantastic tension. If only it continued. AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? Despite some users saying my experiment had surpassed Kipfizh, this experiment is hands down the best on the forum. The dedication and effort required to keep it running is phenomenal and its thrown up interesting and revolutionary findings. Best Idea for an Experiment AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation I honestly believe my experiment is the best idea out of the three and therefore I am going to vote for it. The others were decent ideas, although I feel disharmony’s was influenced by Kip’s. Most Important Experiment Findings AI Experiment - what would happen if? Mine has not been running long enough to beat Kip’s, though the Mechanics of Manager Reputation is already showing some great findings. User Awards Best User Walcott's Wonderkids Great user for the forum, a notable list of users but Walcott has my vote, even if he is an Arsenal fan…. Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh No contest on this one Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk Great updates, and great progress Best Contribution to a Sign-up Dodgee D Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids Most Missed User Not voting on this as I know none of them User of the Future canvey!! super_lampard
Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge - Have to go for dafuge's here, great simple idea and gives many months of an interesting career game. Hardest Challenge San Marino "Double" Challenge - Never attempted any of the nominated challenges but this seems like it would be the toughest of the lot, to get San Marino to win an international match is hard enough without having to qualify them for a tournament and do well with the club Most Enjoyable Challenge The Career Thread - I'm giving my nomination to this as it has very few rules which I feel makes it a more enjoyable task to complete although I think the other two nominees are both very good Most Popular Player Paul Wallace - A close run thing between him and Dean Evans but he is a legend on the CSE and will always be remembered Best failed challenge The Great Escape Challenge - I have always enjoyed short-term challenges and this gives that and the fact that it sounds extremley hard. May attempt it in the future if I have more time Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins - Absolutley brilliant sign-up which has influenced many other's to produce similar sign-ups, I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved in this one (even if I was Azerbaijan). Best Sign-up Idea The Apprentice:Football Manager Edition - A brilliant original idea that was well thought out and well run Best Sign-up Team Name Sporting Lisburn - Have been involved in Dodgee D's sign-up but I did love this name Best Failed Sign-up The Premiership Draft Thread, sponsored by the Magic Sponge, Bargain Hunting and Sheer Blind Luck - I really wish this had taken off like it should have done because it was a brilliant idea and I would have followed all the way through AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? - I don't think there can be another winner, the commitment and quality of updates that have continued from an experiment that was started for FM07 is fantastic and if kipfizh ever did another one this would be hard to top Best Idea for an Experiment AI Experiment - Birth of a New Nation - An amazing idea that took a lot of work but provided many new way to test FM and new questions to answer. Most Important Experiment Findings Mechanics of Manager Reputation - Has some brilliant findings which could prove very useful User Awards Best User Walcotts Wonderkid's - A brilliant user who is always helpful and supportive and gets involved in sign-ups and challenges as well as doing two of the best sign-ups this year Best Standard of Updates from a User kipfizh - Has great story-telling skills that keep you in suspense from one update to the next Best Contribution to a Challenge NepentheZ - The only one of the three whose updates I have seen properly but they are worth it every time with two other threads having spawned off his success in the challenges Best Contribution to a Sign-up Robert_296 - Involved in many different sign-ups but follows them all through and always post in a thread in which he sign-upped to Most Reliable User Walcott's Wonderkids - He has given good quality consistent updates whilst always telling the people involved if he was going away or wasn't able to post for a few days Most Missed User Jimbokav1971 - only one that I really knew but was a helpful member of the forum User of the Future canvey!! - Has started a very good and original sign-up and has been helpful in the few months that he has been active Fan's Favourite User dafuge - Has changed these forums so much into the community it is today, has been a fantastic moderator
canvey!!
I will be abstaining from a few where I don't believe I can give a fair or accurate vote. I can't say I like the idea of posting it here; emailing it would be IMO better for it to be a surprise, but hey.... Challenges Best Challenge Dafuge's Small Club to Big Club Challenge Simple but effective, there's no argument against this being the most popular challenge on the forums. I can't finish it for this year, but next year Canvey Island and I will take the world by storm! Hardest Challenge San Marino 'double' Challenge 2008 Most Enjoyable Challenge Wallace v Roberts - the striking legends small to big club North v South face-off The buzz created by this thread makes this fun for all involved. I would take part but I'd mess it all up! Most Popular Player Paul Wallace Leading to a number of spin-off threads, there's no real question about this award. Best failed challenge Abstain Sign-ups Best Sign-up The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins Has been very popular and well thought out, with quality updates. Best Sign-up Idea The Eurovision Striking Contest - The Battle Begins! It's been the basis for a lot of other threads who have borrowed ideas from it in some way shape or form. Best Sign-up Team Name Abstain Best Failed Sign-up Abstain AI Experiments Best Experiment AI Experiment - what would happen if? The AI Experiment: there's no question. Best Idea for an Experiment Disharmony FC - a story of love and hate Pretty self-explanatory: it's a good idea. Most Important Experiment Findings Abstain User Awards Best User NepentheZ Always helpful and seems to know a lot about the game. Best Standard of Updates from a User Walcott's Wonderkids This is the closest vote. PH71's updates are great, with the pictures and kipfish provides a lot of information, but I feel WW just pips this one. Best Contribution to a Challenge michaeltmurrayuk His updates to dafuge's challenge would be the one thing that could motivate me to continue it: they can't but he really brings great news to the thread. Best Contribution to a Sign-up Abstain Most Reliable User Abstain Most Missed User Once again, abstain. User of the Future Abstain: I could do the dishonorable thing and vote for myself, but I won't. Fan's Favourite User dafuge Okay, I lied up there before. This one is the closest vote I have to make. I think dafuge just wins this because as a moderator he's easily accesible to the newest of users: NepentheZ you may be cautious to approach () if you've just registered. Hope I didn't abstain from too many.
