Schotsmannetje
Well I guess I don't have to explain the question do I? Has anybody actually had a GK get injured during a game? Because I have not experienced it yet in FM09 at all. Besides the thousands of hours of playing time.
the--dud
Nope, not on FM09...
Kickballz
I don't think I've ever seen a keeper have an injury where he can't continue although I've replaced my keeper a few times when he took bad knocks.
Jirki88
Yep, I've encountered it once as far as I remember. 'bout two seasons ago my AEK goalkeeper Bruno got injured during a game.

Schotsmannetje
Yes for Team Bath Theirry Goree encountered a facial injury A facial injury no less? What happened to him? Flew against the post?
MartinGregory84
A facial injury no less? What happened to him? Flew against the post? That I do not know mate all I saw was him go down injured after a corner.. Then my physio report came up Goree will be out for something like 7-10 days with a facial injury sustained in the previous match.
Ruskij
Yes, it happened to me once in a friendly game during pre-season.
Deadmaninc21
once had a knock, but never had red injury
kingpin
very rare, only had it once..
backpackant
Very rarely. I have about a dozen saved games, 3 of which are more than 8 seasons and I can only remember it a couple of times. But then, how many keepers have been injured in the real 08-09 season? 4 or 5? I don't have the stats to hand, but I can only remember a couple over the top three leagues. The_Redeemer
Been playing about 5 seasons now and the only injury the GK has had was during training. After the first season, I stopped putting a GK on the substitutes bench. So far, I haven't been burned.
BamaToon
I never had one in FM09, but a few versions ago (06 or 07), I had a keeper pull a muscle while taking a goal kick. He took the kick and then didn't move at all. Lucky for me the other team never got a clear shot at the open goal.
torquay nezza
yes . ive also had more keepes sent off for handling outside the box than get injured, dont think you can get away with it allways have a keeper on the bench
Chad_
Once, and I've also had one receive a red card in a match. I was prepared for the injury, but not the red card and ended up with putting a non-goalie in nets.
wetfred
yes, I had Buffon get injured at 7 min and had to replace with Legrottaglie since I wasn't carrying a backup keeper. I had to lockdown the back 4 and 2 dm and lucky for me he only let up one goal and we beat Sampdoria 2-1. I haven't learned my lesson and still don't keep a backup keeper on the bench. Damian227
Unfortunately yes... it was a two player game and my mate picked his team and went into his match but it just loaded up, confused me as I swore I had a game too. Sure enough I did, only I had no control of my selection when I had injuries and a red card, so the computer picked for me and put my sub keeper upfront and screwed up my whole team. I sub him off asap for my star striker on the bench... only for my main keeper to break his leg 20 mins into the match! I had no sub thanks to the glitch and got murdered 7-1 when I was 1-0 up
pnefc22
No, it has never occured with me. I think I have had a slight knock before though. I never put a keeper on the bench and so far, it has proved to be a good decision.
heathxxx
Yes for Team Bath Theirry Goree encountered a facial injury The single and only time I've seen any keeper suffer any form of injury was Thierry Gorée "take a knock". It'll be all those French and Reunion players you've bought I have seen opposition keepers get injured against my teams, but then, that's probably got something to do with my opposition instructions of closing down: often, tackling: hard. Last time it happened, the keeper was strechered off, they had used all their subs so went down to 10 men. The only problem, my gorilla of a striker also got sent off for the two-footed tackle. I think he thought it was his personal vendetta to get his own back on keepers for the Harold Schumacher incident.

joejoep
yeah i have had a few games where get injured keepers, but normally when my back up is injured so i dont have one on the bench!
JR866Gunner
i have had it once i believe throughout all of the FM games! i used to have a GK on the bench but then i thought whats the point?? so now i have just outfield players on the bench
phnompenhandy
Same here. Almost never get carded either. As much as it helps my cause no needing a sub keeper, I feel bad that it's unrealistic. I hope SI tweak the occurance of keeper injuries and red cards in-match.
Dar2000
I've never had a keeper injured or carded
the--dud
Agreed it's unrealistic but if SI changes this so it occurs only 5% more often, 5000 people will moan on the release of the demo and continue to moan until a patch fixes it:( Guaranteed!
ricki.bertolino
Agreed it's unrealistic but if SI changes this so it occurs only 5% more often, 5000 people will moan on the release of the demo and continue to moan until a patch fixes it:( Guaranteed! I think they can moan as much as they want, doesn't make them right. IRL, every team has a sub keeper in the bench and I feel in FM should be the same. As for me, I had the keeper injured twice during games, and once red carded. Good thing is that I always have a sub keeper on the bench.
Bigwig
I had a game recently where my keeper picked up an injury, but not serious enough to be substituted and while he had the cross next to his name, his condition didn’t drop under 85% so I kept him on for the remainder. Afterwards it was revealed that he’d pulled his groin and was out for three weeks. Seems a bit bizarre he was able to continue.

Spleen!
I've had a keeper injured a couple of times during a game, on one occasion I think I'd already used all my subs as well. Had a keeper sent off for handling outside the box once.
Some Guy!
My heard dropped when my keeper picked up a "knock". He'd played some 600 odd games straight at that point of time, and I thought his record run would come to a end then and there! It was only something minor though and he was playing in the next game 4 days later. Champion! That's now 750 odd in a row. At 37, still going strong, I see no reason why he can't make it 1000! NLmichiej
Had an injured goalie once in 11.5 seasons (February 2020 now in my game) But irl you don't see a goalie get injured that often either, so it isn't that odd.

TH14Gooner
yes, in the champions league semi-final against Real Madrid as Arsenal, Fabianski got injured after 30minutes and i never have a keeper on the bench, so poor Bedtner had to go ingoal for the next hour - only conceded 3 mind, but got knocked out on away goals

given1legend
Living on the edge huh? Nah just took over a club in financial ruin. Had to sell their only keeper and sign a young free one for a low wage. My squad is tiny. I have a 16 year old youth player starting half my games in CM. About 5 times this season i have only named 4 subs due to injury. nbirkett1
My keeper got injured in the 70th minute of the last game of the season, after I'd already made 3 subs. I was 3-0 up to the bottom team and 1 point clear at the top. They scored with their only 3 shots to draw the game 3-3, and a lost the league.... DanGLiverpool
Didn't get the injury in game, but my keeper is currently visiting a specialist as he is suffering from arthritis. Other keepers were rubbish, so got a freebie to cover, and when the normal keeper comes back, I will rotate keepers as both are good (74 and 86 CA in Northern Irish second division, unbeaten, Qatari tycoon owns the club)
