  1. Yeah, sorry as well. I didn't word it very well, and sometimes I can probably be too strong with my wording. I will work on that. I don't have a problem with what you are saying. We might not completely agree, but I never thought we were having an argument, so sorry if I came across that way,
  2. That is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apophenia
  3. Spoken like a true curmudgeon with an impressive eighteen thousand posts. I don't think anyone is surprised that you have seen every argument rehashed by now. You are probably right though.
  4. This is not true. It was always based on reputation. When a player reached a high reputation they would find the AI changed tactics. Players often thought that the AI has worked out their tactics. It was simply the AI playing more defensive because of the higher rep.
  5. Not really, because that is a different debate. Context matters, and I'm not really interested in this discussion where you are arguing in bad faith. It was clear I was discussing the parallels with AoE2.
  6. Don't hold your breath about fm 25. They can't just magically make the game more difficult to make it more challenging. Game like Age of Empires 2 use cheats for the AI. FM is as hard as it can be with the current AI. The only way it can currently be made harder would be to introduce a cheating AI like your Age of Empires 2. You do realize that yes? It is not smarter - it is cheating with AI bonuses.
  7. I hear you CAE82, but why would you even care after 30 years? I am in the same boat, and for me it is just an occasional distraction. Sure, I still find it fun but am I expecting to find the same level of fun I did 30 years ago? Of course not.
  8. XaW already pretty much summed this up. This is a sandbox game. It can be about immersion and escapism for one person, and breaking the game with the ultimate tactics for the next. This game has never been genuinely difficult - the AI currently cannot compete with a competent human player. This could very well be different in the future. With the constant advances in AI, it might be a different story in a few years times. Of course, this would not be about SI programming AI. It would be about referring the game to an AI engine. It would 'solve' the game and destroy you.
  9. Did this guy get cleared of the betting allegations? Anyway, the 29 million asking price is ridiculous. Man city are circling and they are talking about up to 85 million.
  10. Fm 12 seems to be fondly remembered, but that was the ME where scoring headers from crosses was completely broken. If you didn't play that style then it was probably ok, but I could never look past that flaw. For me fm 07 was decent, and the next match engine where it clicked was not until fm 17.
  11. No need to overthink this. It is just low effort from SI. I doubt it will affect much.
  12. So every tactic does this? Your own tactics and third party tactics? It would seem strange that all tactics files are corrupt. As far as I know this is not a common complaint. Sorry I can't be more help but it the old restart your computer, and if that doesn't work try reinstalling the game.
  13. It sounds like a permissions issue. Are you running the game with admin privileges? Did you download the tactics from them web? If you have very strict windows security settings it might be blocking the file.
  14. There really isn't anything complex about the interface. The problem is there is no 'complexity' with regard to the AI. It is completely useless as an automated process because the loan manager doesn't understand he should be negotiating for the best deal. He just accepts or rejects depending on the settings.
  15. Lucas at the very least is a no-brainer surely. A decent offer for a guy who is presumably about to turn 31, and you will probably lose on a free transfer otherwise.
  16. It is recurring feature. It has been beheaded, electrocuted, guillotined and shot. But like a true horror movie villain, it always returns.
  17. In my experience I find the lower the league the harder it is. Without a shadow of a doubt this is because I am a bad manager, and my shortcomings are exposed without the required staff to delegate my duties to.
  18. The honest truth is you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. The only wisdom here is the old football cliche that you are at your weakest after scoring a goal. Of course it is all nonsense, and usually just conformation bias. Nobody will remember the nine times they don't lose a goal - they only remember the one occasion when they do,
  19. Two games in a row? Post your tactics and I'm sure people will be happy to have a look and determine if there is a bug.
  20. No lower league team would ever play remotely like that. They would be dead on their feet in 15 minutes. I watch my local team and the idea of them playing Gegenpress is laughable.
  21. Arguably started before Ferguson left. They still had Giggs, Scholes, Ferdinand, Vidic, Rooney and a fragile, but brilliant, Van Persie who luckily for them was fit for most of the season. Other than that the squad was pretty awful. Credit to Ferguson though for still getting the most out of them.
  22. Interesting to hear so many match engines mentioned. I actually fired up and old save with fm17 recently and it was ...ok. But I really don't think it is better than fm 24. In fact I don't think fm24 is better than fm 22, which for me is still the best match engine.
  23. Of course Israel is not facing a ban because there is no political pressure to do so. I agree this thread is only going to end in acrimony, and should be moved or locked before it turns into ill informed world politics.
