  1. Coates will wear number 16 for Liverpool btw. Confirmed on club site.
  2. Coates has signed for Liverpool from Nacional. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/coates-joins-liverpool
  3. Not seen it posted already but Insua has left Liverpool and signed a 5 year deal with Sporting Lisbon. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/insua-leaves-liverpool
  4. Don't know if it's been mentioned already but Alberto Aquilani has been handed the number 15 shirt for the coming season. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/team/first-team/player/15-alberto-aquilani
  5. Well, a disappointing season on the domestic front. Finished 6th in the league and knocked out in the FA Cup 5th Round. However, won the league cup and then this. Employed a 3-5-2 formation in the final and tried to "do an Inter" and it worked. Sat deep, only closed down in own half, went in hard and closed down Milito in CB and Masch at DM to pressure them into making a mistake or losing discipline. Had counter attack set and fired balls into Carrolls head at every opportunity. It helped that Reina had a blinder as well, so Champs League footie again next year, as holders! Didn't expect that!
  6. Just got back onto my Liverpool save after a while off. Morale was ridiculously low after 3 straight losses, No Carroll or Suarez or Hazard as all injured. Gerrard only days back and lacking fitness. Was 1-0 down from first leg against R. Madrid when this happened at Anfield.
  7. I usually find Chamakh plays better when you tell him you "expect a performance!" for a team talk. Doesn't work as well against top team but against lower sides, he'll bang them in.
  8. Season 2013/14 review. Only given £12m to spend at the start of the year so hardly any transfer activity, only regens coming in for the season ahead. Alex Song was the only major out for £10m to Atletico. Couple of youth team players sent out on loan for match experience. Went out of the League Cup to Everton and the FA Cup to Chelsea. Other competitions were quite successful. Player of the season by far was Fabinho, absolute rock at the back all year and scored a few important goals too. Van Persie had a fairly injury prone season again but managed 9 goals in 21 including the hat-trick in the CL final. Abeid has come on loads in the last season too, scored 15 in 22 while covering for RVP and will probably replace him when his contract runs out. Just about to start a new season now, Connor scored 25 in 42 for Charlton so he will be retained as a back-up striker this season to prove himself. Some more regens have been sent away on loan for experience, mostly due to squad size, first team football should do them good anyway. Fans were a bit annoyed at the fact that I released Arshavin on a free as his contract expired, his stats had declined so much that it made no sense to keep him. Tried to sign Dani Alves on a free to tutor players but he went to Liverpool on massive wages.
  9. Just starting pre-season now. Turned down another job offer, this time from Atletico. Also Ivory Coast but turned that down too. No transfers yet, Man City wanted Bendtner but baulked at my £28m asking price.
  10. Season 2012/2013 review. Transfers in and out at the start of the season. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m.../3rdseason.png Major transfers included De Gea in from Atletico to solve the major GK problem I had in season 2. Played an absolute blinder of a season, without him I wouldn't have won the league! Also, signed Mata from Valencia after harassing him for months to sign. (Admire/Declare Interest) Had a minor fallout with Van Persie after I accepted a bid from Real for him, he recovered to have an absolute blinder of a season for me, scoring 17 and providing 26 assists. One of the reasons I was going to sell him was because of a major injury prone season the year before, but with more support this year we coped with his admittedly short absences. Fabregas unfortunately broke his leg in October so had to do without him for the majority of the season, he only returned for the final 6 games of the season. Luckily I play with 2 DMs so managed to cope. Rodwell stepped up and had a good season along with Wilshere, had 2 regens for back-up. Lost Diaby with a torn hamstring but he's on his way out at the end of the season after he stated he wanted first team football. Managed to win the Premier League at the 3rd attempt, finishing 5 points of Spurs who finished runner up. Still some traditional Arsenal choking, losing 2 out of 3 finals I played. Man City in the league cup beat me easily as it was a reserve competition for me. Europa League I played reserves until the quarter finals then 1st team, dominated Palermo in the final but lost on penalties. Luckily our league win had picked them up and we won the FA Cup 3-2 against Blackburn, Djourou with a 89th minute winner. (De Gea with a 90+3 minutes save from Vela, who I sold to them) My regens are all progressing well. Unfortunately as I'm in the CL next year instead of Europa, a few may be going out on loan for match practice.
  11. Having been drawn against Liverpool in FA Cup semi's, now got them in Europa Qtr finals. 8 games to go, 4 pts clear in 1st
  12. I'm in my 3rd season with Arsenal. Into March now. 1st season was a fairly good one, finished 3rd in the league, 4 pts off Chelsea who won it. Qtr finals of the CL, knocked out by Man U on penalties. No impact in domestic cups. Transfers season 1: http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm62/PhilP1208/1stseason.png 2nd season was a DISASTER in all senses, finished 7th in the league, knocked out in League cup semi-finals by Man City and in CL quarters by FC Bayern. Knocked out in 3rd round of FA. Transfers season 2: http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm62/PhilP1208/2ndseason.png Transfers season 3: http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm62/PhilP1208/3rdseason.png 3rd season, sitting top of the league on 11th March, 6 points off Spurs in 2nd place, reached the league cup final using just the youth team, went down 2-0 to Man C. Into Round 6 of the FA Cup v Sunderland and have reached the 2nd KO round of Europa League where Man C are waiting for me again! Been using all youth in Europa league as well. 3 promising newgens: http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm62/PhilP1208/valenti.png http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm62/PhilP1208/fabinho.png http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm62/PhilP1208/connor.png
  13. Has anyone managed to get Cesc playing well in any position other than AMC? Can't play him there in my tactic as Arshavin has got 10 in 11 as treq. Trying Deep Lying Playmaker for the moment, may ask him to learn arrives late in box PPM as well
  14. Carroll TM and Suarez Poacher seems to be working best for me. I'd give Lukaku a season as back up then maybe use him to replace Carroll in the TM role. Tactics wise, I tend to switch between 5-3-2 with Wing-backs, 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 Wide.
  15. 7 games in to season 2, just lost my first game 1-0 to Wolves. Renan was sent off and despite bossing we just couldn't score. Still 4th for the time being. Not a catastrophe as Man U lost to Bolton and Arsenal to Birmingham, 4 points off top.
