SI Staff Miles Jacobson Posted October 28, 2009 SI Staff Share Posted October 28, 2009 "Today sees a football first as legendary manager Harry Redknapp takes on the role as mentor to an up and coming COMPUTER GAME football manager. The Tottenham Hotspur boss has been signed by Football Manager 2010, the most successful football management simulation, to give one ‘bedroom manager’ advice on how to improve the performance of their virtual team. Any GAME reward card customer who purchases the new Football Manager 2010 from GAME stores or GAME.co.uk on Friday 30 October 2009 will be entered into a prize draw, with one lucky gamer being selected to join Redknapp’s personal phone book. The computer game manager will be able to talk to him to ask his football management advice. Miles Jacobson from Football Manager 2010 comments: “Football Manager 2010 is the closest experience to real football management so it’s great that one of the most respected managers in the country is able to pass on real, genuine football advice.” The Football Manager game already crosses over into real-life football with clubs using the database to research players, whether to buy or check out opponents, and Everton F.C took it one step further last year by officially signing the database (and its 1,500 scouts) as part of their backroom management team. Harry Redknapp comments: “I’ve got plenty of years experience in football management so hopefully I’ll be able to pass on some valuable words of wisdom.” Jacobson continues: “With so many new features added to the series with FM10, Harry's experience with dealing with the media, his backroom staff, supporters, tactics and transfers will be invaluable for any of our managers" Neil Ashurst, head of UK PR at GAME said: “This is an amazing opportunity for our customers to get advice direct from one of football’s great managers. Regardless of their own football club allegiance, we expect Football Manager fans to be eager to get advice from Harry.” Football Manager 2010 is on sale from October 30th. For full competition terms and conditions, please go to www.game.co.uk."

jayahr
What an awesome prize Too bad I don't live in the UK Yet the text reminded me of that if I was a researcher, I would be quite unhappy that my work does go to some football clubs for their scouting with no gain for the researchers. Even more I myself applied to be the researcher of my club (but it was taken). If I was accepted I would have to give false information on our youngsters as I don't want the English moneybags to be thrown after them...

Bren_D
3 facts 1 - Meeting Glenn Hoddle 2 - Stepen Carr Dilemma 3 - Harry 'started on 2 points' Redknapp 1 - England legend 2 - Not the most popular man in Tottenham. I don't think he was especially complimentary about the club when he left. 3 - 'arry was probably one of the easiest Premiership managers to get on board. Could you imagine Fergie, Wenger or Ancelotti saying yes?
Bren_D
Bruce Forsyth holds season tickets for Spurs and the other lot. KOP_007
Harry Redknapp? No thanks, wouldn't trust that alleged crook with a barge pole. There are plenty of managers out there without ongoing criminal investigations for being corrupt.

Benjani'sBootCleaner
Here's some insight into what we can expect from 'arry. Prize Winner: 'arry, the club have just appointed a DoF over my head, what do I do? 'Arry: Ahh foreshure, you leave the club then join their most hated rivals, and then claim that they are a proper football club.
