selling pedro made no sense at all, i know Barca fans dont like him, but he was their only decent backup for the front 3 (unless you play Iniesta there), if one of Neymar, Suarez or Messi gets injured (or Suarez starts feeling the need for Human blood again) they could be seriously light up front

Pedro wanted to leave and had a release clause, it wasn't Barcelona's choice.

his release clause wasnt met, given that it was a foreign club, Chelsea would have had to give Pedro the money (and Pedro would then have to pay tax on it, so the fee would have increased by 50% or so) so the player could buy out his contract. Chelsea may have paid a fee equal to his clause, but Barca didnt have to accept it and im sure they could have told him "We cant replace you this summer, you dont mind hanging on 6-12 months before you go, do you?"

think Barça fans did like him, just was nowhere near his best anymore.

also I think it's crazy they sold him, for the reasons you mentioned. Absolutely no strength in depth in this squad.

6 out of 11? what a weird stat. he has taken around 50 in his career probably?

He's supposedly missed 14 in his career and if he's taken around 50 now, that's sounds like a pretty poor record for a penalty taker. Surely should be time for someone else to be given a chance?

his buyout clause was met, but that's not really the important part ultimately. his clause was reduced to €30m on agreement between pedro and barcelona after pedro said he wanted to leave to get regular football. luis enrique allowed it, barcelona were happy with it. chelsea paid €27m + €3m variables with no tax implications necessary.

Pedro was never going to challenge Neymar, Messi or Suarez for a starting spot, and his minutes on the pitch would be better spent on the development of the likes of Sandro, Rafinha and Munir. Plus, Arda and Aleix Vidal are going to be available in January (when the critical part of the season starts) and Adama/Denis Suarez/Deulofeu might return next season.

His performances were going downhill and he was pushing back Barcelona's youngesters, i think his exit was the best for both sides.

This probably as strong as the top of the league has been in years, five really good sides in the league atm and I expect all of them to make the CL QF's. Bilbao and Villarreal aren't half bad either.

Real Madrid played a La Liga match with NO ACADEMY PLAYERS, for the FIRST TIME in 50 years (since 03.10.1965)

Top teams don't really need homegrown players to be fair.

Today something happened that has never happened before: For two consecutive matchrounds Messi and Cristiano played and both failed scored.

Overrated players. :D:thdn:

But they will surely end up with 40+ or so goals as usual.

Exactly.

In fact, Homegrown players in first eleven at top clubs:

Barcelona: 5 (Pique, Alba, Busquets, Iniesta, Messi)

Bayern: 3 (Alaba, Lahm, Muller)

Real Madrid: 0

Atlético: 2 (Koke, Gabi)

Chelsea: 1 (Terry)

Manchester City: 0

Manchester United: 0

PSG: 0
