I didn't go and was unable to watch it as I was at work. Disappointed to have thrown a 2-0 lead away but I would have taken a point prior to the game and from bits I saw first half I thought we played well and we are more pleasing on the eye this season than in recent seasons. Shame we didn't get the 3 points as other sides slipped up but if you had said that after tonights game we wouldn't be any further behind Spurs or Chelsea I would have taken it not that I think we will finish top 5.

How you up on points from last season :/ When after 24 games last season you had 39 points.

Which was used as a discussion point, not a straw for Liverpool fans to clutch at.

You're not as good as you were last season, and you weren't good last season.

Out of interest, has anyone said we are better, or are you looking at a tracker someone has placed which states we have had some better results compared to last season?

exactly. commentators always talk about the same fixture the previous season so it's not like something conjured up out of nowhere.

fair enough about the 3 relegated/promoted teams and how you rank them. but generally replacing the relegated teams with the promoted teams in how they finished is a fair enough assumption.

really don't understand why the chris fella has an issue with it.

wtf are you on about. whether we believe we are better this season or not is certainly not to do with the tracker.

i would say we are actually better.

I think our general play is better.

Results wise still a bit frustrating.

the team has transitioned to a new way of playing. it is probably generally younger.

and lest chris get his fanny all worked up, we are getting similar results at the least.

also i feel you know what br wants the team to do as opposed to times last season when you went sure what kenny's direction was.

yes still frustrating (as today evidently shows), but i think gives a lot more hope than last season.

Played some decent stuff tonight. Thought we sat back too much at times. Henderson in particular played quite well, thought Stevie had a great game as well. Disappointing to drop a two goal lead though and further shows our lack of mental strength this season.

just seen some highlights and i think this whole pepe thing has reached outrageous levels. it seems basically every time a goal is scored the first thought is whether he can be blamed.

he put in quite an effort out there tonight but yet because a shot flies past him from fairly close range, he's heart is no longer in it. i freely admit and have given criticism at times when i felt he could have done better. but i really don't think tonight was one of those nights.

the most irritating thing about that result is that if we win we are level on points with arsenal and within something like what 5 points from 4th. and then we blow a 2 goal lead in a matter of minutes.

i do have to say i think the general season is going well at this point. i feared we would be much further back to 4th.

To be fair, Sturridge didn't play that well last night and was one of the reason's i wasn't over keen on signing him. he gets him self in tangles alot and ends up pushing the ball on his 1 footed left side, he's not a close ball playing type of player that fits into Rodgers so called passing game play, he is a poacher sniffing out lose balls around the box with a bit of pace capable of out sprinting defenders that lose concentration..

real shame we didn't hold on. our goals came from mistakes from a comical Arsenal Defence where as Arsenal simply out classes out defenders with the slick movement, Man City will be a much harder test, be lucky to keep the goals against down to 3 at this rate..

To be fair' date=' Sturridge didn't play that well last night and was one of the reason's i wasn't over keen on signing him.[/quote']

He was isolated for large periods of the game so it would be unfair to blame him completely. It is a difficult role to do, especially when he didn't have much to feed off.

Think we'll sign anybody else today? Can't see it myself.

Nope. I think we're done.

Judging by Brendan's comments last night I think we're done.

A bit of a relief really, transfer deadline day never seems to go our way when we are heavily involved.

Butland won't come to sit on the bench, he already turned down Chelsea. Looks like Stoke are signing him and loaning him back to Brum for the remainder of the season. Perhaps a clue they are resigned to losing Begovic in the summer. I'd happily take Begovic to replace Reina but sadly I think he's off to that other team in red.
