The whole structure of the club seems to be in a complete mess, from the academy to the first team, manager, Woodward, boardroom etc etc.

Don't see it improving much if at all in the near future either.

Woodward needs to go back to working on commercial deals, LvG needs to go (should have been sacked after the Norwich defeat) McClair left early last year and still hasn't been replaced and the academy is suffering big time because of it.

Below is the u18s performance so far this season:

P:18 W:3 D:2 L:13 F:23 A:42 GD: -19 PTS: 11

30 points behind Man City, who have got their stuff together at youth level and are taking over from us in that area.

Our academy is in dire straits at this point and it's unacceptable for a club of our size to be so badly run at youth level/s. Why hasn't McClair been replaced? Why has the academy been allowed to deteriorate to such a degree?

Meant to mention this the other day, but Ferguson was sat with our Academy Head at the Carling Cup Semi.

Five shots on target..now can we do that at home? Martial was outstanding. Thought Varela ran him closest. cbj was good. Rooney and Mata and Martial combined really well shame Lingard went missing again.

Screw the shots on target, we scored in the first half! I'd take one of those at home :D

Something really needs to be done about Chris Smalling and his shirt pulling at corners and free kicks. Every single corner he defends he commits a foul and he has only been punished for it once. Its not even like he does it subtly, he often appears determine to remove the shirt from his opponents back and yet the refs ignore it.

Do something about it then.

Is a shame when it comes to MotM only the winning team is mentioned but a worthy mention for Warnock though, he had a great game for Derby tonight, I think he is 34 years old but he still got in the right place at the right time a few times for Derby.

Well that was better, though still have a lot of improving to do. Bloody hell was Blind doing there for his goal?

Martial was just delightful to watch, couple of times he over ran it but he was so positive and attacking and had the fullback chasing shadows. If he continues to progress the way he has been he is going to be phenomenal. Thought Varela had a really good game. Thought after that one run with the ball down the center of the pitch he is never getting picked again. Lovely goal by Rooney and better showing overall, but still nothing special. Certainly not sure why Murphy thought it was so close between him and Martial for MOTM. Unless it's like FM ratings where one goal boosts his rating by a big margin.

Had the feeling of deva vu when we went from complete dominance to utter shambles in the blink of an eye in the first half. Totally running the game and suddenly concede a goal due to Schneiderlin not tracking his man who ran in to space that made it look like we were playing with no CB's. Then looked odds on to quickly conceding another.

Still, great to win, maybe we can at least console ourselves with winning the FA Cup again, though I doubt it, sadly.

LVG's press conference was embarrassing having a go at press due to recent articles:rolleyes:....doesn't he think he should be on the verge of being sacked, it was as if we had beaten Barca in the Camp Nou ;)

lets be honest the highlight of his time at United was stevie g getting sent off:brock:

Let us assume for a second that out board are not idiots and they certainly are not. They must see and hear stuff from the squad and manager that gives them hope.

Also remember Moyes was given up to when it was no longer possible to get CL either via the league or the CL itself. LVG I guess deserves the same as a minimum plus his CV means he deserves more.....or at least that was the consensus when he was signed.

No one wanted Giggs a month ago and the dire scenario should not change that and I am as guilty as others to changing tune just because I want change.....when the emotion calms and you assess, LVG staying is better than Giggs

Difference with van Gaal is that he is going, whether in 18 months or earlier. If there's a better situation out there it'd be folly to stick with van Gaal for the sake of sticking with him only to have worse options when he retires.

What makes us think Giggs is certain to do that? We are living in land of what-ifs.

If we are saying nothing to lose, just go with Giggs then I get it but to assume it will improve things is foolhardy and so we might as well hit the point of no return first (Losing to Derby might be that)

Don't really get how people can be so convinced that Giggs will either be a roaring success or an abject failure. Given how much various people around the club have hyped him the speculation will persist until we start delivering on the pitch and/or Giggs proves he's not up to the job, whether here or elsewhere.

Saw some paper published the supposed revelation the other day that Giggs will be pissed off and looking to leave if he's not the next manager. If he has serious designs to be a manager - and by accounts he has - why wouldn't he be?

Having a go at them for saying he'd already been sacked a few weeks ago wasn't he? Which is fair enough really since evidence strongly suggests he's still got the job.

yes he was but he should rise above that, he shouldn't have to defend himself to anyone let alone the press, he has taken a highly paid position which comes with lots of scrutiny from the press .....he is coming across as someone who is amazed that the press do this sort of thing.....ie criticise a manager who is failing to meet the prerequisite standards for such a club(namely getting knocked out of the easiest champions league group/out of the league cup first hurdle/out of the top four/ playing dour rubbish)apart from beating 2 lower league teams in FA cup.

yes he is still in his job which frankly is the most alarming situation, as the answer to that are either the board are happy with him or his replacements(which needs addressing now as he is going in under 18 months at the latest) do not want the job.

it will be interesting what happens at the end of the season, the board have set a precedent with Moyes, out of top4= out of the job

that will have to be considered the mandatory finish for this year too and that is looking very unlikely

Bit pointless, no? I doubt the hacks are going to stop referring to apparent major breaking news stories from well placed, prominent sources just because Louis has a strop in his presser. Never mind that he's already given them a jolly good telling off previously.

Probably pointless, but bit harsh to expect him to be the first human in history never to do something pointless.

Where has anyone said anything of the sort? Does this criticism embargo apply only to van Gaal, or will you be chiding fellow posters for expecting Rooney to be 'the first human in history never to miscontrol a pass' during the next round of first touch frothing?

He's being a mard arse and people are calling him a mard arse.

He's legitimately being a mard arse, just like virtually every other manager in football is with the press when they're having a tough time of it. I'd be equally amused by criticism of Rooney's first touch if the ball was a triangle and even Messi and Iniesta were Fellaini-ing it into touch every second attempt.

He's actually owed an apology from everyone who's been lying about his sacking. It was clearly all made up to generate headlines.

His job performance is irrelevant.

It was never published anywhere was it? Thought it just did the rounds on twitter until Sinclair withdrew it?

Shrewsbury away in the FA Cup 5th Round. Could not have asked for a better draw other than the same tie at home. All the big teams avoid each other except for Chelsea vs City so QF could be pretty tasty if all the top sides keep going strong.
