antg1985
I'd presume those that infer that playing computer games are for kids are the kind of people who will sit staring at a television most of their life, because that's more socially acceptable, or rather, it's nearly mandatory, games have since the dawn of civilization been an integral part of human sociological evolution, in China (Go and Mah Jong) and Russia (Chess) those who are gifted at games are held in high esteem, Games of all kinds require abstract thought, a certain degree of independent thought, because people who are interested in games do generally spend more time alone, this is seen as abnormal (or possibly dangerous) by those that have very little independent thinking, and this is reinforced by the western attitude's that seem to stem from some red necked Reaganesque right wing christian fundamentalist hollywood portrayal, of Nerd's (who get beaten up by monobrowed silverbacked gorilla jocks), Loner's (who shoot up the school!) loser's (who get no lady action)...... something like that!, anyway from a Buddhist perspective, I find that losing your ego for an hour or two in a game is very good for one's mental health, let those that argue you are too old go back to Bellenders, Max Factor or whatever it is they sit drooling at for hours on end EVERY single day This is brilliant. NCFC Gee
You're never too old to play FM or any other game for that matter, anyone who tells you otherwise obviously has things missing from their own lives to feel the need to come out with such garbage. Phil Macklam
Well I'm almost 38 and still playing FM. Mind you I'm currently on a trial seperation from the wife and this has led me to playing loads on FML. Well what's a single(ish) guy going to do while he waits for the ok to move back home...lol

My Broken Metatarsal
He spoilt it though by not knowing how to use full-stop's and paragraphs. I think you have missed a comma after though? as in 'He spoilt it though, by not knowing how to use.....' However, your inference that my grammar is a case of ignorance, as opposed to one of design, is, I would postulate, highly speculative. Have you had the pleasure of one James Joyce?. For a rant such as the above, formulaic structure, would in my opinion, have a reserved effect, as if I were putting a point across in a detached manner. The lack of convention, on the other hand, oft used in literature post 1900, creates a more oratorical impression. Besides, it is very impolite to correct another man's grammar in public. ........ Cali
30 now and playing since the early versions like CM1 and CM Italia. Until present nobody said to me I was too old to play the game, it's true I reduced the hours per week that I play as other things have to be done (like work, jobs in the house, entertaining my wife , etc...) but I still play a couple of hours a week (and more when a new version arrives) and no, my wife isn't complaining as she knows how much I love football (in real life and in this game) and I assume she's much happier knowing I'm looking at moving dots on my screen then porn. I think there's no age on playing games on your pc, if you're 10, 30 or 60 doesn't matter, it's all about entertainment.
auto98uk
Well I think the piece in bold is complete donkey twaddle. Mitja
as I go older I play the game less and less and my expectations about it get bigger. actually I've spend more time on these forums, in last couple of years, than playing the game. but CM/FM are part of my life for very long. and I'm still waiting for my 'dream match engine'

Amaroq
26 is plenty old enough to make your own choices in life. Absolutely. Last I checked, at 26 you're old enough to decide what hobbies you enjoy - and don't we see plenty of old men playing bocce, chess, etc? Now, if you're seriously addicted to the point that FM is interfering with your ability to hold down or find a job, then yeah, somebody has a point .. if not, you've got to write that person off as overly judgmental. Seriously, ask yourself four questions: 1. Does it make me happy? 2. Does it serve my goals and dreams? 3. Does it interfere with my goals and dreams? 4. Am I using it to hide from something that makes me unhappy? You can do this for just about any activity in your life, honestly. If you got a "Yes" to either of the first two, and a "No" to both of the last two, you're good. If you got a "No" to both of the first ones and a "Yes" to either of the last two, you might want to consider a behavior change.

Geronimo360
People think im boring because i play FM instead of FIFA (im 14) And i would have thought more people would play the game the older you get rather than people still going on about being sad for playing a manager game. Serdar
I have played CM/FM for the last 12 years and since the series are now 15+ years old; the fans playing since the beginning must be all close to their 30s or older. I think I would like to play this game as long as I have couple of hours a week and a healthy brain regardless to age. This being said probably aged players with less time to spend can not pay so much attention to details anymore and stop doing micro management as the most youngsters prefer. McBride
listen, there's no dragons in it and no one gets shot or maliciously run over by a car. its an age neutral game. if you're not neglecting you children, your job or your lady (you know who you are) you're ok. Wee Aja
29yrs old here. Not even remotely considered too old for FM. When they're wiping my ass in the care home they'll need to "wait until half time here in this title decider..."
toon army 06
no one is too old for a football game no one says to a fan at a game your too old to watch a game of football.so i don't see why anyone can be too old to play fm on the computer i would see the point if it was tomas the tank enigine but this is football wher etalking about.one of the things i love is saying players compared with old players i found the new bobby moore for the first time in the game.plus there is a pish left back in my game called bobby moore.but i tried clicking on the bobby moore bit on the guy who has been compared with him the two moor's are diffrent. wardog
33 now. i love it when my fiancee tells me about important stuff thats happened at work that day.. and then i tell her about the cracking goal that edu(my defensive midfielder) scored to beat celtic in the 88th min. the glazed look of dis-interest is magic! Oh how i can realate to these kind of moemnts It did say "3+" though. Sorry, two year olds! haha Seriously, what 3 year old can read well enough to play FM?! My little sister was better on CM 99/00 than me. She was 3 i was 10. She stopped playing the game now, kept her queite too and gave me a way to wind her up. People think im boring because i play FM instead of FIFA (im 14) And i would have thought more people would play the game the older you get rather than people still going on about being sad for playing a manager game. They dont know what theyre missing out on Living in a Rugby area of Scotland i get alot of They make "football manager" "FIFA" and "Rugby" whys there no "Rugby manager" be better than that pish you play. So gfar ive converted 3 people after they said that.
KDR
'Converted'? You mean kicked them over the bar and between the posts, or got them playing FM? lmao! I'm glad I'm not alone on this, though. People were looking at me and going 'You're 35' when I was saying how I played FM. As has been said before, though, I've been around computers and games since I was about 10. In a way, I grew up with computers as a form of entertainment, having played on a mate's Atari console before owning my first rubber-keyed 48k Speccy. It's natural that they'd stay as part of my life, IMO, especially since a load of games now are 18+ certs. What are you meant to do? Play them on your 18th b'day and then throw the lot in the bin? Besides, I'm not likely to even manage a pub team IRL, so FM is just a bit of harmless escapism. Maybe people want me getting peed up and wrecking the joint instead, seeing as that is a much more 'grown up and acceptable' thing to do... (I'm rolling my eyes here but I've lost the emoticons!) Wijnand fens
almost 27, and i'm really addicted to FM, play it for 14 hours on a saterday and for 6 hours on a workday. I'm now Salernitana, half way season 56 (56 seasons manager of one club) Start this game 25 october 2007, game time at he moment is 64 days!!! So you are not to old for playing FM I think when i'm 50 years old, I'm still playing FM!! I have a girldfriend, a own home, every day 1 hours at the gym, and a full time job!! Tip: Buy a very small laptop (12 inch). So you can play Fm everywhere.
Pim1984
You're never too old for this game. This game is actually very mature and pretty sophisticated compared to others. I love depth. This game comes closer than most to provide it. Then it is about the world most famous sport which people of ALL ages love (except my girlfriend and her brother + parents :-( Unfortunately, because of its depth it takes a lot of time and it challenges your mature skills for setting priorities in life. SI Staff Marc Vaughan Posted October 9, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted October 9, 2008 I've been told i'm too old to still be "playing football games on the computer". I'm 26. Anyone else been told nonsense like this???. I remember years ago my little brothers mate told me how he cant play champ man anymore cos his dad was never off the pc playing it himself. It stuck in my head him telling me that and years later when i heard his mum and dad got seperated i thought to myself i bet his parents had manys an argument over champ man (they were split by the time FM arrived on the scene;)) I'm 37 and I've been helping make FM for over a decade so you're definitely not 'too old' - heck you're no where near old yet you young whippersnapper ... come back when you've some grey in your beard and we can talk about the 'old times'

BamaToon
I'm 32, and my mum still gives me **** about playing video games. Just the other day she said "Games are fine when you're younger, but once someone is your age, they really ought to find something else to do". It's not like I'm an unemployed bum. I have a full-time job, a house, and a car. No wife or girlfriend though (which I think is why mum still gives me ****. She thinks I should be married and have her grandkids by now). It'll never happen though. I enjoy playing FM too much to let a woman interfere...
thebigman1985
football manager isnt a traditional game! id say maybe playing cod4 or something screaming down a headset at 40 is a bit wierd, but fm transcends that im sure even the old farts (+ 30s lol) still dream of playing for their team or managing!
