I was just saying to Ruckus that I feel that he is part of a special group of people that met here and became friends for ever, despite geographic distances and cultural differences.

For all of my friends here that I haven't talked with for so long *you know who you are*, I miss you guys.

First time I've logged on in a few days and I must say my heart sank when I saw this thread stickied at the top of the forum.

Like many on this forum I never knew him, but from his posts you could tell he was a genuinely nice guy.

RIP Serps

RIP Serpico.

I remember whenever I had a PC problem or needed advice and he would be there on MSN and help me out or just footy banter. I can't believe he has passed away, when I first saw the thread for some reason I thought it was to say he was leaving as a moderator or something along them lines :( Great bloke

Rest in Peace Serpico

Was totally shocked and speechless when I logged in to see the sticky to say Serpico had passed away.

Don't think I have ever spoke to him on OTF in threads, but he always seemed like a nice genuine bloke and was always a name I seen all the time on OTF.

Whenever I seen anybody asking about building a computer ot components for a PC, I knew i'd see Serps telling them to go to pcspecialist.co.uk

Once again Rest in Peace Serpico. My condolences to bdcuk and his family and friends.

Rest in peace matey.

He was a diamond bloke, always up for a game of Arma 2 with Purefun on the evenings. Just a generally pleasant guy, and looking on here it seems is is looked at highly aswell.

He was the kind of member every online gaming group needed, willings to play, always on, not the best but still consistent and did the job. I think he was in Volcbat for about 5 or so months, with Purefun and LondonLad (Paul D to you guys). Him and Pure always had alot of banter going on about each others driving skills, or lack of shall I say. Going to be sadly missed by us as well as you guys, a real true shame.

Niall, member of Volcbat.

I'm not sure if a change in status would appear (except for banned accounts) unless there was another post from the account, so I'm checking to see if a status change is even practical. I don't even know if Serps would have liked a status change. Even if I could change statuses, I'd still leave it up to the forum admins (and his friends and the moderators that knew him better) to come up with a consensus.

i've been trying to think of a good custom status, maybe just putting 1966-2010 or something?

if it's possible, and I think that LFCfan may be right on this one, then i'd say "1996-2010" would be much better as a custom status tbh. That way it lets everybody know, rather than people thinking "why is he a super moderator when he doesnt post?"

Something I forgot to mention earlier on is how Serpico also looked out for people when it came to infractions/bans. When I got my 1 week ban off him, then found out what it was for, I was actually pretty grateful for it as it could quite easily have been a perma ban, even though it took 3 months before the post got an infraction.

Very fair on that front.

You will be sadly missed Jim.

You were a top bloke and will miss the Poker nights on the TV, Drinks, chatting about games and your infectious laugh, but most of all we will miss you.

I still look over to where you sat in our house and can still see you sat there with your blue tooth headset on chatting away on your phone with that jumper on and what a jumper it was too.

When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more burst of your laughter, even thou we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived and gave us some much joy and that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget Jim.

May you find peace my friend and we will never forget you at all mate.

What a shame, always is when someone dies so young, I didnt have much interaction with him, but looked out for his posts coz he was from hull, anyway, i just told my girlfriend about this and it turns out he gave her a few driving lessons a couple of years ago, small world!

Rest in peace chief

It's incredible how many new people are coming into this thread to pay their respects. I goes to show how many peoples lives he was a part of, if only in a small way

I've thought about him at various points today and each time it has brought a tear to my eye :(

I also just wanted to wish his friends and family all the best. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through, but I hope that this thread is helping, if only by a tiny amount

back in those days we used to nominate people we saw could be good mods and then vote, and he was one that came up and the vote was unanimous. i think i might have even been the one that nommed him, cant remember as this was 10 yrs ago now.

i know that doesnt explain how Bell got there, was one that slipped through i guess.

what a strange way to go, posting on here and then dead maybe minutes later. poor lad.

was a good dude.

It says a bit about how close he was to SI too. How much this community meant to him. It probably happened as lightning from a blue sky, but still.

Would be nice with some sort of mention in FM11 in the acknowledgements.

What do you think about adding a little more like "1966-2010 Always in our Memories" or something like that

change his status, change his password, get a well respected moderator to login as him, make a post and immediately delete it and everything will be preserved as it should be.

Been thinking about this all day. So glad we picked up the win, kind of expected it to happen just because of this.

I remember when he gave me a joke infraction for taking driving lessons with someone other than him :D.

Never met him but probably passed by him in the street at some point.

Rest in peace.

Maybe Miles or Phil?

was quite shocked when i first saw this. although i am quite new on this forum, when i read about him passing away, it really did feel as though a friend had died.

R.I.P.Serpico.

Gone, but judging from all the kind words here, you won't be forgotten.
