The Return To Treasure Island: The Ultimate Rivalry Lives Again!

Recommended Posts

Player: Paul Barron

D.O.B: 28.02.1990

Position: AMR

First Club: Ideal (NTI)

Current Club: Inverness CT

Caps: -

Another player with obvious talent as he was signed within weeks of appearing in the game. The interesting thing is he was signed by St Mirren initially on a free transfer. He joined then on Jan 8th 2010 but within a week (Jan 14th to be precise) he had been purchased by Inverness for ₤60k! Alex Barkley must hav had a hand in that methinks.

i had nothing to do with that! i did not intentionally bribe the management on both sides to bring him to Inverness. honest :D

Only three deals involving Treasure Islanders in January:

Player Nation From To Fee

Cardiovascular STI Inverness Wigan ₤1.3million

· James Almond has swopped the first team at Badalona for the subs bench at Mallorca after just 6 months. Although Badalona are struggling at the wrong end of the Liga adelante, Almond obvşously impressed visiting scouts with his displays between the sticks.

· Jack Browne had only made a couple of appearances in the cup for Q.P.R. this season but he was attracting a lot of interest and opted for a move to Sevilla. Don’t get too excited though as, for now, he has been placed in the Sevilla Atletico side down in Spanish Second Division B4.

· Cardiovascular becomes the most expensive Treasure Islander to date, moving to Premier League outfit Wigan after impressing in the left-back slot at Inverness. He is said to be glad to get away from the club and their two NTIers....

Player News:

  • Martin Bojangles has finally completed his pre-arranged transfer from Adeliade and now joins NTI team mate Mikey Twigge at Rangers.
  • Benat Fernandez Iglesias has stunned the Chivas USA management by stating that he wants to move to a bigger club and handing in a transfer request. The club are having none of it though and refused to sell the player.
  • Tom Hamilton turned down the chance to move to Cordoba on loan, saying he thought it would be more benficial to stay with the Real Madrid youth set-up for now.
  • Also at Real Madrid, Tom Smith has spoken of his frustration at trying to learn from Wesley Sneijder and is no longer being mentored by him.
  • Bulgarian side Litex seem to have picked up on the emerging talent from the Southern Treasure Islands as they declared interest in/made bids for Blackbeard, Gwilym J. James II, Craig Healy, Tyler Burrows and Bobinho Jr during the transfer window. They were unsuccessful in all attempts though....
  • ....which means Bobinho Jr is still without a club as Litex’s offer was the only one that came his way.

Injuries:

3 players are currently on the treatment table:

  • Liam Ferguson picked up a bruised thigh in a recent reserves match but is expected to recover quickly.
  • Tom Smith is out until March with a broken arm.
  • Robert Boyle is expected back in action in April after straining ankle ligaments during a game for Blackpool.

We got relegated :(

I didn't move :(

Really low value :(

Dropped from the national team :(

On the plus side, you are far and away the best player in the BSP and that's bound to get you some recognition from higher divisions before long.

Good, no injuries and decided to stay at Real. Some first team experience would be good in the next year or so though, am i still being tutored DD?

Hamilton says his learning experience with Pepe was a useful one but that tutoring phase is over and he's currently proceeding under his own guidance.

Wouldn't really want a move this early. Getting regular football at Chivas and they have great training set up if I remember right so it should help development. If a move to a mid ranking European club came up it wouldn't be too bad mind, someone like Everton would be fine. Still playing most games for NTI though which gets a

Stella Performance from Belgium Against NTI | STI Slip Up Against Plucky Puerto Rico

Belgium v. Northern Treasure Islands

Date: 05.06.2010

Competition: International Friendly

Venue: Jules Ottenstadion, Ghent

After a gap of almost a year, NTI finally took to the field to provide opposition for Belgium. Unfortunately for them, their lack of practice playing together was all too apparent as they struggled to cope with their opponents and created little in the way of attacking chances. Not a single chance came NTI’s way in the first half and they were lucky to only conceded one goal. That came on 40 minutes as a misplaced pass from Bojangles was picked up and played to Huysegems, who scored with ease. The second half saw some improvement but chances for the Northerners were restricted to set pieces. For some reason NTI boss McBob chose not to make any substitutions but he will have to make changes ahead of next season’s games if his side are to improve.

NTI Line-up (4-4-2): Almond ©; Jonathan, Alvaro Brown, Hawkini, Lazewski; Bojangles, Barkley, Boyle, Iglesias; Collingwood, Blowcrapup

Subs: Harrow, Tner, McNally, Flash, Browne, Barron, Hamilton, McBob Jnr., Gonzalez JR

Final Score: Belgium 1, NTI 0 | NTI Player Ratings & Stats

Puerto Rico v. Southern Treasure Islands

Date: 05.06.2010

Competition: International Friendly

Venue: Sixto Escobar, San José

STI Line-up (4-4-2): Blackbeard; Hasek, Ferguson, Lemon, Cardiovascular; Hart Jnr, Smith, James II ©, Gingerbread Jnr; Dodgson, Kroeger Jnr.

Subs: Brookes, Whalley, Castagnoli, Bobinho Jr, Philippens, Stigarakis, van Pieters, Burrows, Crazy

STI had opted for an easy match in the sun again but they were maybe a little too relaxed as thier Caribbean neighbours put in a good performance and nearly got the win. STI didn’t have the best of starts as Blackbeard twisted his knee with his first touch of the ball meaning Fred Brookes came off the bench with just a minute of the game played. The first half was pretty uneventful after that with two injuries for the Peurto Rico side the only other incidents of note as the STI boys got a bit rough. In the second half, STI were caught napping as Peurto Rico scored straight from the restart. That stirred STI into life and they finally started to play some good football. Unfortunately, the chances fell to Dodgson and James II, who seemed to have left their shooting boots back in the locker room. An equaliser eventually came and it was that man Kroeger Jnr. who did the honours with his head once again following a great run down the left and a beautiful cross from Cardiovascular. STI struggled to creat after that with Hart Jnr and Gingerbread Jnr particularly ineffective on the wings. Puerto Rico finished the stronger side and were unlucky not to grab a winner near the end. Much like their Northern rivals, STI will have to pick their game up next season.

Final Score: Puerto Rico 1, STI 1 | STI Player Ratings & Stats

Man of the Match: Cardiovascular (7.8)

Attendance: 7,199

2009-10 Season Review: The Players, Part 1 (STIers)

NTI went first last season so it’s STI’s turn this time. ;)

Blackbeard – a surpirse move to Sporting last summer proved to be a good move for the player as injuries to the two goalies ahead of him in the pecking order meant he featured in the first team in both the league and Sporting’s run to the semis of the UEFA Cup, keeping an impressive 6 clean sheets in 12 appearances. Alas, his rivals for the no. 1 jersey were fit for the two domestic cup finals, which Sporting won, meaning no medals this season.

Good to see that the clubs want me, its gotta be because I am darj and mysterious, not because of my poor effort playing in the league. On a side point, probably missed it earlier, but did we avoid relegation? Yes we did, found it now. Somehow I missed that post first time through haha.
