Thank you for doing this again.

Type: Desktop

Model: Mac Studio (1st Gen)

CPU Model: M1 Max

RAM: 32GB

GPU: M1 Max 24 Core Apple

Graphics Level in 3D: Recommended for System

Benchmark 1 FM24: 00 min 40 Sec (It was 41 sec in FM23)

Benchmark 2 FM24: 01 min 40 Sec (It was 1 min 41 sec in FM23)

Benchmark 3 FM24: 03 min 32 Sec (It was 5 min 28 sec in FM23)

Benchmark 4 FM24: 14 min 21 Sec (did not execute in FM23)

Hopefully this helps prospective Mac users. It looks like I (and people like me) can definitely see more performance improvement for Setup 3 as it got huge 40% performance boost. For small setup, I guess it didn't get much performance bump.

I typically settle for 80-120k players. I will definitely try 200k+ this year.

I didn't notice one thing you have mentioned @Brother Ben.

If I understand correctly, these test files were created in FM23 and then loaded & converted inside FM24, then uploaded here?

If yes, are you planning to run fresh FM24 created setup as well? Some people may not had FM23, and FM24 is going to be their first FM, it may give them insight as well. Perhaps Setup 1 and 3 only for fresh FM24.

I did think about it but its a lot for people to do and in terms of collating the data it complicates things.

And of course the chance to compare apples to apples was to good to turn down

Thanks for taking the time to comment Graeme.  I'm glad these tests have been of some help to you guys.

It looks like the prospect of running a fair few leagues are not out of the reach of even those running more modest systems which is fantastic.

The faster times in Benchmark 3 is brilliant for me because I never use more than default detail for other leagues. The fact Benchmark 2 has little to no improvement doesn't bother me either because as I said, I never go full detail with other leagues.

I am happy to see that my M1 Max is processing the week in 3.5 mins in Benchmark 3 (all leagues, 20 in full detail). I am happy with that performance. I don't want to spend another $2000 for 10-20% time reduction. Money isn't the issue here but I don't want to spend for small spec/performance bump and make Apple richer.

Interesting that almost everyone is faster in B1-3, but with B4 my system seems to be faster.

There has to be something wrong with your system, as your benchmark 1 time is slower than my i9 9900k system.

Depends how much you're using the match engine.

When not using it you're basically hitting typical max battery for the laptop being 15-20 hours.

Match engine depending on quality settings drops that a lot but i need to test it more to give a proper answer.

wouldn't mind trying to recreate the saves in fm24 natively and exporting them, i assume just copy the leagues, detail, and settings from 23 files, or is there anything else within the game setup i'd need to do to replicate it? I feel like 23 files on 24 definitely run noticeably slower than new saves but performance is def improved regardless

will give this another run on a fresh restart + test out my m1 air too and add results :) The performance delta between 23 and 24 is really impressive tbh, didn't expect it to be so drastic and the last game i put heavy hours into  was 21 & 22 and 24 feels incredibly responsive in the saves i've played (around 10 nations loaded with 25-30 ish leagues, and large database usually around 60-80k

Interesting. I'm yet to start a save but will be within the next week. Have you managed to get a few seasons in to any of your saves? I'm wondering if there is a big slow down in processing speed after a few years? There was on FM 23.

Interesting. I'm yet to start a save but will be within the next week. Have you managed to get a few seasons in to any of your saves? I'm wondering if there is a big slow down in processing speed after a few years? There was on FM 23.

I've got a liga mx save with a large database and canada, america, argentina, chile, colombia, brazil, peru, I don't run very high levels of detail level especially for international comps, and my player count is around 60k right now (when i started the save i loaded in some extra players in the region of central america), usually tend to go for that rather than cranking details. I'm in january 2027 and it takes about 35-45 seconds to holiday a week including a match, so performance is still right around the benchmark 1 setup although mine is lighter on the detail

I'm only a year into another save i've been running but it has more leagues, i'm managing in ireland (2 leagues loaded) and have argentina, mexico (2), portugal (2), scotland (2), england down to league 2, italy (2), colombia (1), and france (2) loaded and it's super responsive so far (also has a lot higher detail level relatively)

I don't have a huge need for many leagues but I'm probably going to try and run a database with something like 80k-100k players next and see how that goes.
