chris79
Personally i think we will draw 2-2 tomorrow, so we end up with a replay and another game in this upcoming run of tough games, Loss to City, Chelski and a draw with Liverpool are my other predictions, bleak i know! Did you place a bet? Great goal by van Gibsie there.
SteveUK
No, doesnt come true if i put money on it sadly, ive not watched the game yet, but did Sagna happen to have another ***** game by any chance?
SteveUK
4-4-2 would be interesting, when was the last time Wenger started a game in anything but his 4-3-3? 4-1-2-1-2(or 4-3-1-2, depending how far back Arteta wants to sit) diamond would totally suit the players we have available instead of this false winger bollocks he insists on playing, if he must insist on this formation then he should atleast buy wingers in this window. djvandyke
Yeah Sagna was pretty bad, kept going backwards. I haven’t brought it up before because quite frankly it sounds like the kind of bollocks people make up on the internet. A colleague of mine is a close family friend of Bacary Sagna and tells me he is completely disillusioned with the way the club is being run and is unlikely to renew his contract. He told her "he was playing a higher standard of football at academy level" and although he expected Van Persie would go he cannot understand release of Song and sees it as the final straw. I think we can all fully understand that to a degree, but imo if you are disillusioned then dont play, request a transfer, let someone else who wants to put on that shirt and give 100percent have the chance, ive been trying to find stats in last hour to compare Jenki's and Sagna since start of season as both have played 14-15 games each now but most sites want monthly fee, but im pretty confident in saying that we have performed better defensively with Jenki's in the team over Sagna, the lad isnt as experienced obviously but he puts a shift in and is committed. djvandyke
Wenger admits "socialist" wage model http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/9782420/Arsenal-manager-Arsene-Wenger-defends-his-socialist-wage-plan-ahead-of-FA-Cup-third-round-tie-with-Swansea.html Confirmation of what we already knew but the figures banded about are quite staggering. Arsenal pay an average wage of £61,000 compared to United’s average £64,000.

Retro
Thought I'd take the quotes from Wenger out of that article so we're just left with what he said, not Jason Burt's interpretation. “We pay well. We pay very well. I’ve spent all my life making sure people who work for us are paid well and I believe if you can do it, you do it.” “to pay something that makes sense and is defendable in front of every single player” “We make exceptions sometimes but they are not maybe so high. If you want to keep making profit you have to respect that.” “Yes. I don’t know how it works at others. But it’s not only me, it’s in co-operation with the board. When we want to go 'far’ I ask for the authorisation of the board.” “We have no players on £200,000 a week and I think other clubs will come down to us with financial fair play,” he said. “We have a more socialist model.” “it’s not enough” for Arsenal to simply qualify for the Champions League every year. “For people the Champions League is very important today,” Wenger said. “It makes a massive difference to everybody inside the club and to recruit the players and keep players. You need to be in the Champions League first. “People always dispute that with me and I agree it’s not enough but it’s the basic requirement to keep the top, top level players. And after that you want to win trophies like the championship and the FA Cup and the Champions League.” [On winning trophies] “There is a change, of course . There is an aura around the team that is built through the history of the team and it makes them feel strong together and it’s quite an energy that builds up inside the team that you sense and it’s linked to the success that the team achieves.” [On winning silverware] “It would improve the confidence of the players and also the fact that you can be consistent — that improves the confidence,” he said. “It’s important to fight for the championship and as long as we don’t do that something will be questioned. That is where lies the strength of the club and the team.” Also, the wage figures he quotes are by his own admission 'reputed' (ie not fact).
jmr
Arsenal pay too much wages for crap youngsters like Djourou and not enough for proper top players when there is competition for the transfer. That's just stuff everyone already knows.
johnhughthom
So confused  He was trying to be clever and insinuate Bartley shouldn't have been let go and that he is better than the current centre backs. Which anyone who watched him play for Rangers would know is nonsense, and the fact he hasn't played a game for Swansea in the Premier League would also argue against it. ajw10
on if the squad can cope with so many games… Yes, if we have no injuries. Today we had four players at home, and I didn’t bring on Chamberlain, Coquelin [or] Rosicky. Diaby’s coming back and if we find one or two on the transfer market, then why not. "I change my mind whether I need to go into the transfer market from game to game” How is this man still in a job? The last quote is outrageous. djvandyke
Ridiculous he was never given a chance whist the likes of Koscielny and Vermaelen embarrass themselves in, week out and proven flops Squillaci and Djourou still on the books with thier fat £60k contracts. djvandyke
Bartley is a monster physically, huge yet still mobile. Great in the air, his distribution is good and is comfortable enough on the ball to play midfield. He held his own physically in the combative Championship as a kid and demonstrates good leadership qualities. I’m not sure what his lack of playing time at Swansea is supposed to prove? He is still learning his trade, spent some time injured and they have they have better defenders than us.

I’m saying it shows he is relatively comfortable in possession for a defender, not suggesting we use him in midfield.
