joejccva71
Just curious if you guys manage and watch all your games or do you sim some of them to make the season go by faster? Manageing all 40 some games could take a long time per season. What do you guys do?
Lankylars
Watch all games, including friendlies. Though I do have match view set to "Key" and and the speed set very fast.
Chalky1989
Watch all competitive games, not friendlies. Have it on key, and a few notches short of the fastest setting. Takes time, but I like it.
Ty
Normally once a tactic is created, I watch them on Key. When creating the perfect tactic, I have it on Extended.
ManUTactician247
Extended Highlights for me, I don't want to miss any highlights but don't want the full match either
Boydy9
Depends, at the start of my career I watch the first couple then holiday through the matches. Once my rep is established and I get a high profile job I become a full time manager
SCIAG
I always watch, otherwise I wouldn't be able to change tactics in the middle of the match.
AcidBurn
I get my transfers sorted and then holiday through the friendlies. I watch key highlights two notches short of fastest setting takes about 9 hours to do one season.
greenwhitearmy
I holiday through my matches but play through other days, it really does speed up the gameplay which is what I like and I can get through a season in 2-3 hours
DB1
Always watch them. Extended and 2/3rds speed. Season takes ages but like to imerse myself in the game. Can't imagine doing a season in only a few hours. But each to their own
sporadicsmiles
I watch fulll matches for the most part. Depends how well if it is going. If I am playing well and winning I go to extended, if I am getting pummelled and I can't seem to stop it I do the same. If it is close I like to watch it, gives a much better insight of who is doing well, and who is doing what. Takes a long time for a season but I dont really mind. Never Say Die
I didn't know you could sim them! What does it do? I watch them all with key highlights and no replays. 4 notches off of fastest setting.
Liverpoolfan
I watch all my games, even the friendlies, i just go on holiday till the end of June near the new fixture list being released and when the transfer window is open.
joejccva71
I didn't know you could sim them! What does it do?I watch them all with key highlights and no replays. 4 notches off of fastest setting. There isn't an actual Simulation button. I just go on Holiday for 1 day to technically "sim" the match day.
Flashman
Have only ever been on holiday when unemployed; find it totally bizarre that anybody could spend money on a football management game and then skip the football bit. But hey, as long as you're having fun...
Bracken
Have only ever been on holiday when unemployed; find it totally bizarre that anybody could spend money on a football management game and then skip the football bit.But hey, as long as you're having fun... Completely agree with Flashman (great name by the way, from the novels and Tom Brown?), I don't really see the point of playing a football management sim, if you cut out the management of the actual football. Maybe that's just me. I use extended highlights when building a tactic, and key when I've sorted it, with extended again for some big games
Sunlock
Watch all games, including friendlies. Though I do have match view set to "Key" and and the speed set very fast. Same, except friendlies are ditched. I use holiday for one day, for national team selection. ( in that case, done by assistant. )
Nobby_McDonald
I watch all league and meaningful cup games on key highlights. I also run the other cups games and friendlies but often do something else while they play. Don't see any point in simming meaningful matches. It is Football Manager we are playing after all. Blue_magic
I just don't see the point in simming a match defeats the object of playing the game in the first place.
Liquid Cool
I actually watch most on full. Sometimes switching to extended, if I'm confortably ahead. But I've also mapped the arrow keys to match speed, which allows me to fastforward when the ball is out of play or something else of little relevance is happening. SGartz
I try watching the full match and I really wish I did, but still after years of analysing the movement of the dots (and more recently 3D animations), I still have absolutely no idea what I am looking for, or what I need to do. They all seem hopeless and do not follow instructions. So, I just do the commentary and my tactics consist of trial and error, I actually do worse the more I try which frustrates me. Hey awesome handle btw. No I understand that the point of having a football management game is to play the football part. It's just after about 20-25 games of playing them, I am ready to start the offseason stuff. Thats all. I was just curious if some people maybe simmed some of the games and did the other management duties, etc.
crouchaldinho
I watch every game. Mostly Extended but occasionally key for games where I get a comfortable lead early on, or perhaps if the result doesn't matter.
Lermontov
I sim when there is nothing left to play for that season. Eg. It is obvious I am going to be mid table or I have already won the league and am not in any cups.
Koki
Watch all competitive games, not friendlies. Have it on key, and a few notches short of the fastest setting. Takes time, but I like it. This is exactly what I do.
phnompenhandy
I'm a micro-manager. I watch all games on extended, and it typically takes me an hour to get through a game week. A season will take at least a month.
SI Staff Ter Posted December 2, 2010 SI Staff Share Posted December 2, 2010 I manage all games except friendlies (only because I'm playing a network game) and play on key highlights. Highlight speed is usually a little bit fast.

clonerohin1
Watch, coz I can't trust my AssMan for Team Talks/Opp Instructions. Also, may need to change tactics on-the-fly, so it's better to play.

Also, may need to change tactics on-the-fly, so it's better to play. If you get an assman that has atleast 17 motivation, 17 man mgmt, etc then you don't have to worry about him doing team talks etc. He will prevail. For example, Mark Venus of the Boro. Currently he has 19 motivation, and 18 man mgmt now and he's absolutely amazing for me.
Kenco
I like to watch games on extended highlights because it's called Football Manager and I am the Manager, and there are lots of decisions to be made during the game. 40 odd games a season is nothing, usually complete a season in around 24 hours which is no big deal. The exception is in a multiplayer game I play where we allow our assistants to take control of friendly matches because it's an agreement the 3 of us decided on to speed up the game.
