We are going to have the strange situation where teams don't know if they are through all not for a few days, so will stay in France and continue training and possibly end up with no more games.

Albania in this situation now. Hanging around since Sunday. I bet they'll be gutted if they end up missing out.

Albania are out now. Turkey need help from Belgium and Italy tomorrow. If both get a result, Turkey are through with Northern Ireland, Slovakia and Group F third place

Not yet, They can still finish ahead of groups E & F if things go their way but looking fairly unlikely.

With 3rd place in B & C 100% through its down to six possibilities:

3rd place teams   A1   B1   C1   D1
ABCD              C3   D3   A3   B3
BCDE              C3   D3   B3   E3
BCDF              C3   D3   B3   F3
BCEF              E3   C3   B3   F3

The 2nd or 3rd option can't happen, as Turkey can't not qualify if Albania do.

Just 4 options

Turkey & Albania can both still qualify if groups E & F finish bottom 2 in the 3rd place table which can still happen.

Yeah, but your table shows options of Albania qualifying but not Turkey. Can't happen as Turkey are higher in the 3rd place standings.

Once they have the 4 3rd placed qualifiers how do they decide who is in which group, is there a formula like best group winner vs worst 3rd place?

The table a few posts above this is used, it is explained in post #10. I believe it is designed to keep teams from the same groups apart in the draw as much as possible.

This puts Albania's party on the Sunday on perspective. :D I know they were delighted just with the fact they won a match which is a fantastic achievement for them, but still. What a downer.

Realistically all the other 3rd place teams are better than them - except for Northern Ireland IMO.

Belgium

One of those will be in the final.

So all the British Isles teams have reached the playoffs? :eek:

And both of them will even meet each other, so there might be a couple of them in the quarter-finals too.
