Çankaya Futbol Kulübü 2037/2038 Season review

On the field

A crazy season where we just miss out on the championship by goal head to head results.

Not that we improved that much from last season, the other teams just all decided to suck at the same time. 6 points has only been enough for fourth the entire save. Thew ending wasn't as dramatic as it now apears. with two games to go for us Fenerbahçe secured the championship. We and Beşiktaş had to win our remaining games, which we did , while Fener could lose their last, which they did.

Another short cup run, but losing against Beşiktaş is no shame.

lots of candidates this season, but taskin gets it.

16 goals from the winger and the first time we had more than 15 goals from one person in the top flight.

Young player of the season: Cengiz Sürmeligöz

Solid season from the 17 year old.

Several players made their season extra special by making their debut for the turkish national team. But the honor of the first Çankaya player in the national team goes to Hakan

Youth intake

A disapointing Youth intake but I'm glad we're getting a DC talent, We were getting thin in our defenders. To be honest Ziya might be good enough to be my 4th defender right now.

Board

No major transfers and the finances are no longer an issue (untill the tycoon pulls the plug, then it will be a major issue)

At the start off the season our facilities were deemed old fashioned, and no longer up to snuff.

luckily the board cares about the senior facilities.

Next season

The board wants another title challenge, and I don't have the heart to tell them we lucked into this one. If the traditional teams get their act together we have no chance. This might be the first time tg=his save my board is more optimistic than I am.

IFK Lidingö season 13 / 2036

Season started nicely with a 9 match unbeaten run and at the end of july we had 4 wins 10 draws and oly 1 loss. Suddenly all started to collapse. We had a 11 match winless run and we found ourselves on relegation playoff spots. We managed to win 3 of our last 4 matches and avoided direct relegation. So we had a thrilling relegation playoff waiting for us. 1st leg was away against Sandvikens IF. They got the early lead but we dominated the rest of the match and got a 2-1 away win.

I was hopefull ahead of home lag as we had dominated the away leg. Things weren't that straight forward. They once again got the early lead and tied the aggregate, but we were still staying up with away goals. on the second half they pulled another goal and we were going down. on 83rd minute sub winger Kenan Durakovic 31E scored the crucial goal to tie on aggregate. He only had scored one goal during the whole regular season. Extra time was waiting. We dominated the extra time and scored 3 goal and Kenan Durakovic 31E completed his hat trick on penalty spot. A really narrow survival.

In Cup we advanced to the group stage.

Andreas Söderström 31A was in fine form with 13 goals and 8 assists mainly from right wing. Simon Didrik 30C took responsibilities of first choise GK.

ELECTRICO FUTEBOL CLUBE (PORTUGAL)

SEASON 0

I completed this challenge back in FM21 I think and was thinking about it the other day and how it was a lot of fun. So we decided to go back to Portugal to see if we could repeat the feat. The club that we chose from those eligible is Electrico Futebol Clube. They are from a similar region to the last and only team I have ever managed the feat with Portalegrense. We are newly promoted to the top division and expected to go back down to the District Divisions. I am hoping very much for my sake and the sake of my participation in this challenge that that does not happen.

Looking over the squad it is not great as is it be expected. We have Matheus Lacerda, who I think will be a real help to us for the coming seasons before we are hopefully able to blood some youngsters into the team.

On a different note, we have taken over on the 29th June 2024 and in a few days a few players are due to arrive at the club arranged by the previous regime. I believe I would not be allowed to use these players, so I will be releasing them as soon as they arrive at the club.

Our manager is Paulo Marques, 19 years old with no badges and no reputation in the game.

I will report back once we have completed the first season.

They were on amateur contracts, so I released them. I don't think it will make much difference.

Season 12 - 2035/36

Season Summary: The 35/36 season marked a historic moment for Kavala as we made our debut in European competitions. We entered the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League, facing the Azeri team Zira. In our first European match, we won 1-0 and secured another victory with a 2-1 score in Azerbaijan. In the playoff before the group stage, we faced Brighton, the 2032/33 competition winners. Despite losing 1-0 in Greece and 3-1 in England, our inexperienced team put up a decent display. Brighton eventually won the competition, defeating the Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães 2-1.

In the league, we qualified for the championship group for the third consecutive year, finishing behind the big-4 and maintaining a 4-point lead over Asteras Tripolis. Similar to the previous year, we struggled against the Greek giants in the championship group but managed to win two out of the 10 matches, securing another European qualification for Kavala. In the Greek Cup, we came close to qualifying for our second-ever final, narrowly losing to Iraklis in the semi-finals on penalties after conceding in the 124th minute.

Despite a good finish in the league, we didn't receive any individual awards. I was the second-best manager of the year in the league. Two of our players, Angelos Kobosis (33a) and Christou (25c), were listed among the most promising wonderkids, with Kobosis ranking second and Christou third in the KXGN 2036 list. Once again, Manafis emerged as our top goalscorer with 13 goals, and Kuqi had the highest average rating of 7.20 points.

Our long-time captain, Thanasis Ioannidis, retired at 33 after 349 matches and 65 goals with Kavala's shirt. In terms of transfers, we sold our center-back Karypidis (29c) to Iraklis for 3.9 million euros and invested 2.2 million euros to upgrade the training facilities.

Youth intake: Although this year's intake was relatively weak with a few players showing potential, none are expected to make it into the first team next year. However, our youth team continues to perform well, winning the league for the third consecutive year in the U19 category. Dimitris Gasidis 36a, Panagiotis Kangelidis 36b, Giannis Karvounidis 36c, Nikos Siaperas 36d, Dimitris Chatzigiannis 36e, Kostas Detsis 36f, Phillip Edwards 36g and Nikos Bournaveas 36h are our most interesting players comming from the academy this year.

After one of the worst starts to a season I can remember, we lost our first seven league games, to recover and finish in a comfortable mid table position is somewhat pleasing. On the whole, we continue to underperform in the cups.

SEASON 1 - 2024/25

YOUTH CANDIDATES

SET UP AND EVENTS

The first thing we needed to deal with was to set up general and individual training which we did as we wanted to. We then focussed on getting part-time contracts to the players since almost everyone was on a non-contract verbal agreement. I am pretty sure the club had changed from amateur status to semi-professional status during the time we were waiting.

Eventually the pre-agreed transfers came into the club, and we immediately released them from their contracts.

Our next job was then to get some staff for the spots that we had missing in the team. All of them were key. We were missing a Head of Youth Development, and Under 19 Manager and an Under 19 coach.

For our Head of Youth Development at our lowly level, we opted for Igor Araujo. His stats for this level are okay, the favoured formation is not too far away from what we will play, and his personality is Fairly Professional. Really for my purposes at this level he will fit the bill quite nicely.

Miguel Silva was my choice for Under 19 Manager. He has good mental attributes, but his coaching attributes aren’t great, it still should mean he can train the players adequately. He only has a National C Licence, which means if we wanted to invest in him those coaching attributes could grow and most importantly, he has a good personality of Fairly Professional. His Working with Youngsters is good for this level and scouting abilities are about as good as we could get.

We were allowed one Under 19 coach, and we opted to get in an Assistant Manager in the form of Felipe Goncalves. He had some good coaching attributes, good scouting, good working with youngsters, very good mentals for our level. He has a good personality of Resolute. He already has his Continental B Licence, so he adds some experience. He should complement Silva quite well working with youth players.

In August with the team having started well, we tried for the first time to get the board to agree to increase Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitment, but they were both denied even apart appeal. So, we decided to try and get a coaching course, but they denied this as well.

In November we tried again with both youth recruitment and junior coaching, and we got Junior Coaching up to Adequate academy coaching.

In December we received the youth preview, and it looked like we had top talents at centre back, winger and striker which are all players I can use or adapt them to use. Goalkeepers, central midfielders, and wide midfielders were average, full backs were bad and defensive midfielders bad. So pretty good overall, obviously it was an early view of things, but I was happy with the report.

In the same month we were allowed to start on our badges, so we started on the National C Licence.

By the end of the month the board finally allowed the Youth Recruitment to be approved under appeal, so we were now up to average youth recruitment.

In early January, sitting Club President, Vitor Martins was ousted and replaced by Renato Pires, but it didn’t change anything, and in fact the first meeting they called was to discuss a new contract for me. We would duly sign a new 1-year deal.

In February we managed to convince the board via an appeal meeting to increase both Youth Recruitment and Junior Coaching again this time to Above Average Youth Recruitment and Good Academy Coaching

In March we managed to get another coaching position for our Under 19s. Our first choice was Bruno Duarte who was at Recreios Algueirao. I like his defensive coaching stats and while his personality was only balanced, we already had some good personalities in the team to offset that.

Right at the end of the season, our training facility rating was downgraded. We don’t have the money to repair that damage now, it shouldn’t affect us too much for now.

RESULTS

We started the season well with five league wins to start the campaign before we would lose our first game of the season. We were upper mid table for the majority of the season before towards the end we had a real push towards the playoff spots. A run which saw us win 5 and draw one of our last six games before the final game of the season. We needed to beat top side Sintrense and hope results would go our way in the other game between Marinhense and Uniao 1919. We however would lose our game to drop us down for a safe 5^th place finish in the league which I would have snapped your hand off had your offered it to me before the season started.

The Portuguese cup campaign was not as good, we drew Merelinense in the 1^st Round, a team from the District Divisions, but not an easy task especially away from home. The game would finish 1-1 and we would lose on penalties. That was disappointing not least because it was a route to some much-needed money into the club.

PERFORMANCES

Matheus Lacerda was pretty much the standout above everyone as he topped goalscoring, assist making and top average rating this season. He was the heartbeat of the side and now that he has gotten to 30 years old it is a little worrying now as to how we would replace him.

Diogo Jorge was good from left back, got three goals and 7 assists this season, which good

Miguel Rosa from right back got two goals and 8 assists this season, which was equally good to Jorge, so another standout performer.

Diogo Lobato had a very good season from centre back. He contributed six goals mostly from corners and just one assist.

UNDER 19s

The Under 19 team had no problems navigating the Distrital Junior AS.19 – Portalegre division winning it and getting promoted next season to the Nacional II Division, which should bring some much-needed increases in competition for the boys we are hoping to kick on and develop.

In terms of individuals one player particularly Rui Pires, was an ever present in the first team this season, this was partly because he has good potential, so I want to give him opportunities to improve as a footballer, but also because it allowed us to play Arthur Veiga in attacking midfield and play Rui up top. In 23 games and 1 substitute appearance he scored only 5 goals and 4 assists, not great but not bad for a player who started the year 15 years old. No one else from the youth side made any appearance in the first team.

Karsiyaka 2nd Season

Just one of them seasons where no progress was made

Three more retirements, the youngsters are going to be first teamers pretty quick here as I have lost half of my original team already

I just managed to stay in the division, poor performances all round and my best player is in the last year of his contract, he wants 5k a week and I can only pay 1.2k max so I might try and get a fee for him

I will miss him and his goals, was my top scorer last season and plays cm

The club still wont let me do a training course, so no progress there

I managed to get one upgrade on the youth recruitment, I'm now up to fairly basic :hammer:

with all my strikers retiring or not signing contracts I'm going into the next season with two 17 year olds upfront

Both look good for this level tbf

Aims for next season is to hopefully get a few more goals than last year and some kind of facility upgrade, I'm miles off promotion etc.

Club profile as we start

We actually got quite lucky with a youth player that came through during the holiday season. Think this lad could be around for the first few years easily:

I did actually aim for a different club in Kingstonian but I did get them in my second reload but then realised I messed up the game database so had to redo the holiday season and after like 6 hours they never came up once so I went back to a side I know fairly well and I do like the idea of having proper rivals when/if we get up to the top flight.

[FM23] Reymersholms IK - season 25 - 2047

Filip Olsson looks promising, nice potential and personality

Playoffs again but this time we took a W and we're finally going to top division. 25 seasons is more than I expected but now the fun begins. On top of that we won our group in Swedish Cup and reached quarterfinals

At the begining of the season we've upgraded our recruitment. I'm still not getting the youth facilities upgrade available and at this level it's just way to low

Finnish First Division

Another decent season in which we were heading for the playoffs all year long. Too bad it was a short adventure after that.

Squad

Heinonen had a great first season. I like almost everything about him and can only hope we can hold on to him for a few more seasons.

Haarala is developing more and more into a player we can count on. He lacks a bit physically, but his mental stats make up for it.

Kuittinen just keeps going. I don't know what makes him so good, but it looks like he has all the right mental and physical attributes to make up for his technicals.

Transfers

We sold a few who were decent for us, but we have enough options in their positions. For Kallio and Paukku I'm gambling on a future sale.

Youth intake

A nice set of players, although most are not ready for a spot in the squad. And again, no goalkeeper.

Tiihonen, Sulejmani and Kontkanen are my picks out of the group.

Finnish First Division

Another good display, we're definitely on the right track. It's been long overdue but we have the squad, the talent and the right ages to go up and not worry about going straight back down.

It just needs to happen. That's not easy as there's alway one team too strong for the rest, and the playoffs are hard to get past. But we are hopeful.

Squad

Our formation change gave us more stability while also getting more bodies forward when in transition. It's been a puzzle getting to fit them all in and I'd like a midfielder or two extra, but we can move forward with this.

Laitinen disappointed us though with just 9 goals. He's been scoring less for a while now so I may look to our U20s for a new starter up front.

Uusitalo is a reliable goalkeeper but really not good enough. We haven't pulled someone better yet though. There is one in the U20s who might develop beyond him but I don't have too many hopes.

Heinonen is developing pretty good and is our leader at the back. He's not going to extend until we're up though.

Another great season for Kuittinen, 13 goals from midfield is outstanding.

Rinne is giving Miftari and Syrjä a run for their money on the wings. It's great to have a player to exchange both with when one of them is out of form.

Transfers

All quiet.

Youth intake

This is a great pull! I might start Ojanperä, Ahonen is a great addition as we lack a good left-back and Byman could be the one to replace Laitinen.

Kosonen is interesting as well. I'm not sure whether to train him in some attributes, or maybe retrain him to play in midfield. I'll probably let him develop a bit on his own and see what he turns into.

I have my own Youth Only save, but I don't participate here since I allow myself to sign back players from the academy.

One question for the seasoned pros in this:

I can't seem to fix my squad's personalities. I am on year 12, I have 16 Determination and from all my staff, the lowest is 15 (both main and youth coaches).

The first screenshot is from my main squad, the second one is from the youth squad. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this?

The main problem is that even the ones who come with good personalities through the intake get worse over time. Any suggestions?

I am by no means an expert, but professionalism is the main stat that I have seen that allows for quick development in players. Therefore you would want to have staff members with Professional, Resolute, Model Citizen (there other personalities that have high professionalism). Your Head of Youth Development I believe probably has the biggest impact on the the starting personality of the youth players (not every single one, but on some).

If you are saying that the personalities are getting worse, this often is because they spend a lot of time around players with worse personalities. You often get a message saying that the club has had a positive or negative impact on a particular player. If both your first team and youth team are filled with bad personalities that is a tough situation, it might be worth culling some of those that have particularly bad personalities. If you had some good personalities in the main squad then you could bring up youth players that have good personalities into the main squad, where they wouldn't be as affected by bad personalities in the youth squad. Admittedly I have never seen youth players badly affected by being a player with a good personality in a sea of bad personalities in the youth team but it may happen.

If you have a few players in the main squad that have good personalities you could also attempt to mentor young players coming through the youth ranks. That should mean that they will be mostly affected by the mentoring group.

Determination is an important stat but not the most important stat. The other thing you might want to consider is that personality in staff is not a replacement for actual coaching quality. So if you have great personalities but bad coaches, they probably will hold back development considerably, albeit you would expect them to positively impact personalities if they are Resolute, Professional etc personalities.

SEASON 2 – 2025/26

INTERNAL MATTERS

Over the summer I tried to get going on my next coaching badge after completing the National C Licence, but the board felt that if they allowed it, I would leave them. Some of the other staff over season had been studying and so this was good as it was improving the level of training available to the players especially in the Under 19s.

An area where the board were happy to acquiesce was to allow us to appoint a First Team Performance Analyst. This would be useful to me to get some information back about how the players were doing and how we were doing as a team. We opted for Ricardo Goncalves. He really isn’t great, but he will have to do for now.

We learned when the fixtures came out that due to the teams relegated and promoted, we would be moving to Serie D which covers the south of the country. At the moment I am not sure if this beneficial or not.

The board came to us soon after the fixtures came out asking us if we wanted to create a B Team. This was something I was hoping for, just to reduce the number of players that were in the first team, and that we could still hold onto players that I deemed not good enough, so that they could contribute to our B team. The B Team will start in the district divisions. We won’t see their results until and only if they are promoted which probably won’t happen for some time.

In early July we got in Sergio Santos from Boavista Leiria to be the Manager of the B Team. He had decent coaching stats and lay a similar way to the way we play.

A little bit later we got in Pedro Simoes, who was the Assistant Manager with the Macau national team to be the Assistant Manager for the B side and Andre Ignacio from Brazilian side Forte Carrazedense to be the B Team Goalkeeping Coach.

The final appointment for the B side was Bruno Vidinha who comes in as B Team coach, but his focus will be mostly on the fitness side.

We tried in September to get the board to agree to look at Youth Recruitment and Junior Coaching again, but they were not persuaded on this occasion.

In October I asked the board for another coach for the First Team and that request was granted. We opted for Mauro Martins as a Fitness Coach. He had good fitness training for our level and probably the better mental attributes of the available candidates. Training our players of Quickness and Strength at this level are probably the most important attributes so it made sense.

In December, the board offered me a new 2 year contract and we duly accepted.

Antonio jose was added to the Under 19 team as a physio in around January, we didn't have any physio so he comes in to speed up recovery for the youth players.

In February we got agreement to increase our Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitment.

One great thing that happened right at the end of the season at Club Vision meeting is that the club inserted that we should Develop players using the club’s youth system into our objectives. That’s great and should hopefully make it easier to make improvements in this area.

DISCLAIMER: I noticed that the B team signed a player this season named Rui Oliveira (I must not have set up the manager responsibilities correctly at the time of the setting up of the B Team). He has not played any games for the club, he is sitting in the B Team which does not currently play any games. He is on a part-time contract, I have attempted to release him but the club won't allow me to do that. He will leave when his contract ends in 2027. Hopefully it does not disqualify me.

RESULTS

We started off the campaign badly with a 5-2 loss away to Juventude de Evora, but we rebounded very well from there and we went on an unbeaten run until we lost 5-3 away at Sintrense who were dominating the league at this stage. After that our form was never quite as good, and because of that we were never really in contention of getting to the playoffs as the top two ran away with it. We did finish 3^rd which is a fantastic achievement for a club that is expected to go down and relying on youth to make the difference. It’s overall a season that I am very happy with.

In the cup we had a pretty great run, as we got past Imortal in the First Round 5-0 away. Followed by beating Braganca, a good side of our standard 2-1 at home. Then we took an almighty scalp as we knocked out Second Division Vitoria de Guimaraes 2-1 at home to make it to the Fourth Round. Our adventure ended at that stage as Desportivo de Chaves beat us 5-0 at home. A good run for us, a great win over Guimaraes and a bit of extra money in the coffers.

PERFORMANCES

Diogo Jorge was by far our best player this season with 1 goal and 14 assists. Miguel Rosa was not far behind with 3 goals and 12 assists from the other full back position. Matheus Lacerda was still good this season with 8 goals and 5 assists, but he was noticeably down from last year. Rodrigo Petas has a good season with 9 goals and 4 assists.

The final person I will mention is young Raphael Le Quellec, who came through our youth intake last season. He was the top goalscorer with 12 goals and he got three assists. Normally I would have left him un the Under 19 team, as I like the players to develop there first, but we have some issues at striker in the squad and so we decided to throw him up to first team at just 15 years old and see what he could do. This was primarily precipitated by knowing that the Under 19s would play a lot more games this season and so he would missing if we didn’t bring him up. He repaid the faith and he looks like our best striker now.

U19 RESULTS

The youth team got promoted last year to National II Division, and they did absolutely brilliantly. There are two stages, the first a league stage and then a championship league stage. In the first stage they managed to top the division losing just twice to reach the championship phase and in that very stage they were promoted with a game to spare, meaning they will be playing in the top division next season. A great performance and that will really allow the youth players to be tested at the top level.

INTERNAL MATTERS

Over the summer we learned that we would be moving back to Serie C for the Campeonato de Portugal.

Some new coaches came into the B Team, which has been far more of headache that it has been worth (I don’t think the game particularly likes B Teams that are not playing league games, it has even seemingly broken my staff responsibilities screen when I lost B Team coach.

We had some new joiners to the B Team establishment Sergio Coelho, Bruno Tome and Paulo Rodrigues

At the start of the summer we decide which players will be playing where in the club. The options are the first team, B team and Under 19 team. The Under 19s is obvious, everyone who at 16 or below plays there unless we have a major need, like we do this year. At 17, if they still have potential and have already decent ability to move to the main team, if they don’t have either then they remain for a final season. At 18 while they could play in the Under 18’s generally they move to main team or B team. The B Team is really for players who are too old for the Under 19s, but not good enough for the main team.

We also check for a cursory look as to whether any B team players are ready to move to the main team and also whether there are any first teamers that are no longer part of my plans, they move to the B team.

I tried again to get studying for my National B Licence over the summer but again I was knocked back.

In December we signed a new 2-year deal with the club.

In January when the transfer window was open, we had a few issues with some of the young lads. Rui Pires was wanted by Maritimo, and when we rejected the bid, we had to have a meeting with him. We did however manage to make him a promise to see whether we could blood young talent into the team. However, Ricardo Fernandes was wanted by Estrela da Amadora, and he was having none of it. He stopped short of handing in a transfer request. Both contracts run out at the end of next year and they don’t have any transfer value, so losing either of them would be a big setback for us. In the end we managed to convince both to extend their contracts for a further year to avert a crisis.

I also noticed this season that B Team is finally playing league games, so theoretically they are now participating in the District Division of Portalegre. We can't see their results or league position, so we will only know about them if they are promoted, but you can now see in the B Squad picture, data for the players.

RESULTS

Early form was decent if a bit patchy, but we hit a period between October and early January where we were imperious, winning all out games. January would be patchy again before we would recover to perfection in February. Our end of season form would be patchy again but this time we had done it, we had reached the Championship Playoff finishing 2^nd behind Anadia, who were top of our group by a mile.

I didn’t hold out much hope in the Champions Playoff as we were drawn against Anadia, who had been brilliant all season and Marco09 and Sporting Braga B. It ended up being one of the bizarrest groups I have ever witnessed. We won our first game against Sporting Braga B with a single penalty and then never won another game for the five remaining games. Every remaining game would be a draw, and somehow that would be enough to make it to the next round. Marco 09 had also drawn every game but one which they lost and they were third. A weird way to make it, perhaps the only way this team would have made it, but we are promoted to the Third Division

PERFORMANCES

Raphael Le Quellec was the best player this season, he led the team with 18 goals and was deadly with his Under 19 strike partner up front Rui Pires who got 17 goals himself in the league. Miguel Rosa and Diogo Jorge were still amongst the best performers for the side. Veteran Paeco put some great performances this season and was key to getting us up.

Holger Albustin deserves a mention as he deputised for Miguel Rosa for most of the season and did a pretty good job. Rodrigo Petas was good in midfield and was an ever present.

UNDER 19s

The Under 19s did amazingly well in their first season in the top division. Again there are two phases a first stage and then a Championship phase. They won their league group which represents all the clubs in the south of Portugal including teams like Benfica and Sporting. In the Championship Group it was a little harder for the boys as they ended up finishing in 4^th place behind eventual champions Feirense.

We're up. It took us 12 years but we're going to play the big boys now.

We were top early on and never really gave up. SalPa was keeping pace, but our final games were easier so we could build a gap they couldn't close in the promotion group.

We went professional as well, although we're deep in debt. I managed to tie up our better and more talented players, but we're way over budget.

Squad

I'm sure we won't be the punching bag we're predicted to be. The squad is good, talented and large enough to keep out of trouble. The lack of a player at DMC worries a bit, but we should be ok.

Rautiainen was our best defender again. It was time for him to make the step up.

Syrjä had a great season as a winger. It's a real battle on the wings for playing time and we're well equipped there.

Special attention for Bleart Rama this season. He was never very talented and has always been on the fringes, but he was really important this season with quite a few goals.

Laitinen started the season as a backup and came in the squad about halway through. He found his shooting boots again, great to have him 'back'

Transfers

Halme lost his place and left. Nothing much happened next to that.

Youth intake

Another great intake. Kokkonen and Granholm are going straight into the squad with a good chance of quite a few minutes.

Mattila is kind of a weird player for a DC, might retrain him as a DMC as we need someone there soon. Lähderinne looks very nice as well.

Well, this season perfectly encapsulated why Belgium can be so frustrating! First season in the second tier, and due to a quirk where 4 of the sides cannot be promoted due to being affiliated with clubs in the top tier, our mid-table finish actually qualified us for the play off stages!

And once in the play off stages, we were suddenly fantastic:-

so we got through to the final, against the team who won the relegation play off for the top division. So 3 of my best players decided to get injured and another had to go on international duty.....

So close to an unlikely promotion from a mid-table finish! i love Belgium!

so how do the board reward such as successful season? by announcing this:-

Arrival

Breaking the first season into bits so it's not such a long read.

First, let’s get this out of the way. The whole point of this is the team name. I tried to do this last year, but due to a bug, even when Vikingur appeared as promoted in the season summary, they weren’t actually promoted.

I don’t really have any illusions that I’ll be able to complete this challenge. I was pretty doubtful I’d even survive a season.

Once I moved the youth players to the senior team, I had a squad of 21 players, with a few minor gaps, but no huge problems. Unfortunately I was only able to register 19 of them, because of homegrown types of things. Thankfully that will be the least of my problems in a few seasons.

I mean, the lack of players wasn’t great obviously, but step 1 was surviving the season.

My youth intake came in immediately before our last regular season match, but I couldn’t register them, which given I was reduced to starting a striker as a central defender, (and spoiler alert, it was a pretty important game) would have been helpful.

I signed them all.

They’re mostly 5 stars potential, but who knows if any of them are actually any good. I’m sure 2 or 3 of them will be starters immediately from next season though.

INTERNAL MATTERS

Just after the previous season had finished we found out that Diogo Jorge had won the The Most Assists award in the Cameponato Nacional. Raphael Le Quellec would finish second in the Young Player of the Season for the Campeonato Nacional. Finally we would win the Manager of the Year for the Campeonato Nacional.

Diogo Jorge would make the Team of the Year for the Campeonato Nacional.

In June we signed a few new coaches and other assistant staff. Diogo Pimenta, Pedro Felizardo, Nuno Furtardo

Upon turning professional we started to hand out some professional contracts. One particular concern was that of Raphael Le Quellec, who signed a new deal keeping him with us until 2030 but it does not have a £29k release fee in it. So that could be problematic. Rui Pires once again does not want to sign a new deal with us because he now believes we aren’t a strong enough club for him. However, he would eventually come around and we would manage to get him to sign a new deal. We even were able to get rid of Le Quellec’s release clause later in the year.

Before the pre-season started, we signed a new 2-year deal.

I finally managed to get to studying my National B Licence, which required me threatening the board, and when we got that they then allowed us to study for our National A Licence which was a surprise.

We had new elections at the club and Renato Pires won a second term, so no changes there.

Later in the season we would get agreement to proceed with our Continental C Licence, which is great, and I might start becoming useful in training.

At the end of the season the board decided to expand the stadium by 800 seats which will bring the redeveloped stadium to around 1,900 seats.

Unfortunately, we also got the news that our youth facilities rating had been downgraded to below average. We don’t have the money now to deal with these issues, but if we do get a bit of cash, it will be a big priority for us.

At the end of the season we signed another coach. Joao Borges

RESULTS

I was very fearful of this season; my expectation was relegation or at best to just survive the drop. August seemed to confirm my worst fears as we lost two and drew two, but we had enough of the games to suggest we might be able to do something this season. Then we went on what I can only describe as a “tear” through the league. We would remain unbeaten from that point until the end of the first phase of the season. That would be enough to avoid the relegation phase and instead be in the championship phase as we finished 3^rd in the league.

That moment continued with us as we just could not be stopped when it came to the Championship Group. We won our first four games and didn’t lose until we were confirmed as Liga 3 Champions. We then lost our final two games as I rotated the team to get some more youngsters on the pitch.

An unbelievable season, and not one that I am able to really explain with the resources that we had, it just seemed as if the momentum carried us through each game and as we kept winning, we would just turn up at another impossible fixture and pick up the points. We beat the likes of Belenenses 5-0 away, Freamunde 4-1 away, Varzim 5-1 at home. These are teams that would expect to beat us handily.

A superb season, but the squad really worries me for next season. I am not sure that momentum can get us through the kind of calibre of opposition that we will be facing next season.

To add to our remarkable league form we had a great cup run as well, as we got all the way to the Fifth Round and away tie against giants Sporting CP. We would lose 3-0, but the money from the tie was a godsend. We made around £500k just from that and that helped us immensely this season.

PERFORMANCES

Rui Pires has gone on from strength to strength and he picked up 25 goals and 9 assists in all competitions this season. His strike partner Raphael Le Quellec got 19 goals and 6 assists, and this while getting injured for the final five or six games. We have built a formidable strike partnership at this level.

Diogo Jorge was again great this season picking up 12 assists this season. The other fullback Holger Albustin, who has dethroned Miguel Rosa in the starting lineup did well as well with 3 goals and 6 assists and good performances all season.

Matheus Lacerda has been reduced to a bit part player for us, and a good option from the bench. He got just 327 minutes from the bench this season but was good when needed. It will be his last season with us as he is confirmed as moving back to Brazil at the end of the season.

UNDER 19s

The Under 19s were once again brilliant. They once again managed to get us out of the Southern Section of the League to make it to Championship rounds finishing in 3^rd place ahead of Benfica. In the Championship rounds they finished a very respectable 3^rd place, as Benfica recovered to win the league.

Karsiyaka 3rd Season Review

We hold on to 1. Division Status with a lot of youth playing first team football

I decided to cull some of the older members of the team and also has a few retirements,

Best performer only just turned 18 with an impressive goal record, too bad he is talking about leaving

Managed to get my star midfielder to sign on for another year, did offer him for sale but no takers

Finished towards the bottom end of the table again, still got a fairly poor side for this level especially in defence, dont seem to be getting any full backs coming through so far, so i have had to resort to training midfielders into defenders

Forgot to take a screen shot of the youth players, it was a supposed excellent take but I only signed 4 or 5 of them, was some terrible personalities and awful stats so I let most go.

Dénouement

The crazy thing about the Icelandic league is that in a season of 22 matches with 12 teams, with about 6 matches to go we were in a playoff space, but still at risk of relegation.

However, with one match to go, we were in 4^th and a playoff spot. All we had to do was win the last match.

What followed was the craziest match I can remember.

Very soon we were 3-0 down. Due to suspensions and my preferred tactics, I had strikers playing central defence and attacking midfield, so I thought, screw it, and went to a 3-3-1-3 formation. Like I say, craziness ensued.

Long story short, we won 6-5 in added time and were in the playoffs.

Of course we were thrashed in the playoff semifinals, but I’m not super disappointed. A good first season, and next season hopefully we’ll have a full squad.

This is my new first team.

INTERNAL MATTERS

We learned before the new season started that we had won the Liga 3 Manager of the Year award. Rui Pires had finished second in the Top Goalscorer award.

With our ground undergoing work, we would be moving to Abrantes for this season to play at the Estadio Municipal de Abrantes which holds 1,500 people.

In July we signed a new 3-year deal, with a significant wage increase.

PLAYER MOVEMENTS FOR THE SEASON

Into the first team came Ismael Toure and Joao Alexandre from the Youth Intake just gone last year. They looked too good to keep down for a year with the Under 19s. Joao Alexandre will be starting every game we can get him to this season, it is time to dispense with Gustavo Moreira as starting keeper and hopefully move up in goalkeeping terms.

In the end I made a last-minute call on Bruno Reia to bring him from last seasons class, as I have a feeling, he probably may not have the potential, but we could use him in the team.

At the end of the season Innocent Ishimwe, our only Rwandan youth intake so far also made it to first team as he reaches 18 years old, hasn’t yet played for us and no guarantees he will.

RESULTS

This was meant to be a difficult challenge to us. Despite the back-to-back promotions, we really have a squad that shouldn’t be able to compete very well with the kind of opposition we are facing this season, however the truth ended up being very different, we started well and kept recovering from a loss with a win. The competition was clearly tougher, and we were losing regularly but we managed to keep this momentum going until we managed to secure 4^th place. Ordinarily this would mean we would miss out all promotion spots but because Benfica B were in 2^nd place and can’t be promoted, we picked up the playoff match game. We were a long way behind Lusitania Lourosa who finished 3^rd and in the final automatic spot, but we would have an opportunity this season to make it the top division.

The opposition was tough in the form of Pacos de Ferreira, the key was that we had the momentum and morale going our way and they had raw ability going their away. We were at home for the first fixture of the two-legged affair and we rode our luck a bit but the result was brilliant as we won 3-0. In the return leg we just needed to be competitive to gain promotion. An Ismael Toure equaliser on 25 minutes calmed the nerves and dented Pacos momentum in the game, that would finish 1-1 and we were promoted to the Liga Portugal Betclic. We went back to back to back promotions. Incredible from the boys, but now I am really daunted.

How on earth we will get on in the top division I have no idea anymore.

PERFORMANCES

Only three players breached the 7 mark this season, the quality difference probably didn’t allow our boys to consistently perform.

The three that did manage it were Rui Pires, Holger Albustin and Raphael Le Quellec, they deserve the plaudits for sure.

Rui Pires ended up with 21 goals this season and 7 assists which is a great return. Le Quellec ended with 14 goals and 3 assists in what was an injury hit season and Holger Albustin had a breakout season with 2 goals and 14 assists, to be our top assister this season.

It should be worth noting that Antonio Almeida came from pretty much nowhere to be probably the best player at the club, his development has exploded. Ismael Toure had exploded on to the scene this season with regular football in the first team. Joao Alexandre also has now at least matched Gustavo Moreira as a goalkeeper.

Joao Alexandre also became the first player to get an international callup. He was called up to play for Portugal Under 19s and I believe got two caps.

UNDER 19s

The Under 19s continued their good form by making it to the Championship Ground again with a 3^rd place finish in the Southern Region table, we could only finish 6^th in the final championship table.

Back with some Tranent content! It's been nearly a month so will do another post a bit later on with a round up of the team and and outlook on 2059/60.

We've basically finished roughly where I think we are in terms of quality, so this is actually a reasonably decent season to pick up with. St Johnstone finally pick up their first league title after several years of under-achieving. This now means we've had 7 different winners in the last 15 years, with 6 different winners in the last 7 years (again!):

It's actually quite difficult to tell who the best team in Scotland is now, although you'd probably lean towards Hibernian but they seem to absolutely love finishing 2nd.

Europe:

If Hibs like finishing 2nd, then we love getting knocked out at the Round of 16 in any European competition at the moment!

We also seem to love getting knocked out by English clubs lately as well. West Ham this year and then Arsenal the previous 2 years. They're far and away the best league in the world so I'm not too surprised. Just hoping that they can knock themselves out at some point!

Cups:

I'd usually just link this in a url and not post the picture, but this has to be seen to be believed somewhat. We went 4-2 up against Arbroath in the 94th minute at home and I was pretty happy we were going through. The players on the other hand...?

2 96th minute goals sends us to extra time and then we lose on penalties. Nightmare.

The Scottish Cup was a little bit more kind to us though!

That's now our third consecutive Scottish Cup win. I'd kinda prefer to be getting knocked out and taking 3 consecutive league titles, but this will at least help the club! And those who are paying attention - yes, Solomon Frimpong is still here, banging in cup final winning goals at 37 years old. More on him in the next post.... (spoiler alert, he's actually had 2 of his best seasons for years!).

Youth Intake:

Quick note on the youth intake - nothing extremely special in terms of ability, but I am very happy to get another high potential central defender! We're now very stable at the club, so it's a bit easier hanging onto players and improving them.

2059/60 Season Report

Nearly the most sane and calm league we've had in Scotland for about 20 years now. Everyone roughly finished whereabouts they should finish, with Celtic and Hearts underachieving quite a bit here. We had a bit of a shocking start (8 points from the first 7 games) which meant we lost ground on Hibs who almost led from start to finish. We're now at the point where we've got one of the best defences in the league finally (it helps when you're able to keep your players!) with the back-ups being of a decent enough standard to sub in as well. We finished poorly as well which didn't help, although reasons for that are below...

Europe:

Still not the big trophy, but we're getting closer and closer every few years!

We lost 3 games in the Europa League and somehow both of them were to teams that I really shouldn't have been losing to! We really should have breezed past Betis in the Semi Final too, but we surrendered a 2-0 lead to somehow lose 4-2 and then blew them off the park in the return leg in Scotland.

On first glance, facing Liverpool in a European final, I expected a bit of a battering considering my record against English sides. However they're actually a mid-table team at the moment, only getting into Europe by finishing 7th, only 2 points ahead of 11th!

We left it a liiiiitle bit late, but Zhelyazkov is becoming a bit of a hero for us! Top scorer in the Europa League itself with 14 goals, he left his most important 2 till the last moment! I'd have actually been incredibly disappointed if we lost considering how tight it was.

Cups:

In the words of a great poet, "Oops, I did it again!".

That's 4 consecutive Scottish Cups for us now. We're apparently a cup team now. Might actually help in the Champions League if we can get out the League Phase next year! We're still not good enough to go far in the main cup though, so anything past the Round of 16 in the Champions League would be a success for us really.

Youth Intake:

Although what does help is a rather decent intake! 2 Full 5 star potentials, both with Perfectionist personalities? Loving. It.

Cameron Macdonald and Bede Simon both look rather decent, although the last few prospects we've had like this haven't actually got anywhere close to decent ability so I'm a bit more cautious now! They will obviously be helped by our beloved Solomon Frimpong in the under 18s whilst he finishes his career. He's still not fallen off from the last screenshot (although the physicals are starting to go). Still popped up with another 11 goal season in 32 league games, so he's still very useful.

He's also on 969 total appearances for the club, so there might be some lovely 90th minute sub appearances for him next season to get him to the 1000 mark!

Season 2024/25 Review FC United of Manchester - National League North

League - A crazy first season in charge for us. I knew we were good enough to up around the playoffs but would need luck to do much more and I usually start the firsts season a little slow as I try and work out the best 11 but this season we started on fire. We won our first 9 games of the season and were flying but Scunthorpe were right behind us with 8 wins a draw. It was clear who the big dogs in this league were. However from here things started to go a bit up and down. This is due to us just settling down to a more natural level along with a few injuries and honestly me trying something new with my training. From November to around the middle of Jan we dropped like a stone, from top down to around 7th and in danger of blowing the season. It was around this time I made changes from my training. In previous save I was getting some good results by focusing on weaknesses of the player rather than doing my usual of having them train in the role I want them to play. I think the reason my training worked elsewhere and not here is because of the facilities. Here we train twice a week and have crappy facilities so development is going to be tougher. A couple weeks after changing our training levels improved and so did our results, to such an extent we went undefeated in the final 13 games to finish 2nd. This meant playoffs and in the semis we faced a Scarborough side we did the double over and a 2-0 win put us in the final with a Spennymoor side we won and lost to in the league. A crazy final which saw us cruising to promotion at 2-0 up with 4 mins to go only to throw it away to draw 2-2. Right into extra we went 3-2 up before a double from them left us 4-3 down at the break. A goal from star boy Steve McStravick 6 mins before the end meant it was 4-4 and pens. Mcstravick missed our first as we scored the other 4. Our keeper Marshall actually saved their first 2 which meant we won 4-3 and were up! If you look at the past graph you can pretty much see where I made my changes to training.

FA Cup - We had a great run in this knocking out sides from National League, League Two and League One before Bournemouth of the Premier League beat us in the 4th round. Annoyingly they are a small side so only around 8k turned up so didn't get the monster pay out we'd have got against a top side. We still made decent money from the run though

FA Trophy - Not great, our loss came during our poor form and with a small squad already suffering from one cup run I wasn't too upset in getting knocked out when we did

Transfers - None in but the one out hurt. Pawel was easily our best RB but was on a non-contract and wouldn't talk about a new deal despite me asking him every 2 or 3 days for 6 months but instead he went back to Poland. We were lucky to have held him for as long as we did.

Finances - The cup run generated just over 600k I think and I used that money to invest in upgrades to youth recruitment, Junior coaching and even got a training facilities upgrade meaning we now have a fair chunk less now

Youth Intake - I was pretty slack with this, first waiting a while to take a shot of the preview as I was so disappointed in it and then for some reason my PC didn't save the screen shot on the day they came through so had to take one after the season had ended. It was OK I guess. nothing great hence why I've been less than quick to capture it all

Ryan O'Kane 25A - Northern Irish right back, he's fine I guess. Will add some depth to the area which we need
Aeon Halstead 25B - wide player, not the quickest but not slow, bit of height on him though which I like
Jack Jefferys 25C - the highest rated player by my coaches but not sure I see it, a smallish CB who can't header isn't ideal

That was all I tagged but I thought I'd offer an update on the lad that generated last season - Steve McStravick. Started the season on the bench and I was using him late on in games but as our season started to fall apart I threw him in as our box to box option and he excelled. 9 goals in the 2nd half of the season with 2 in the play off final. He's been great. Doesn't turn 17 till the summer and has League sides looking at him already.

SEASON 6 – 2029/30

INTERNAL MATTERS

The board announced after the last season that we would be building a new stadium, this was because the expanding stadium we had just gotten would not be permitted in the league as all stadiums need at least 4,000 capacity. The new stadium is anticipated to hold 9,833 people.

Early in the season we learned that Rui Pires made the Liga SABSEG Team of the Year

With our not permitted with that capacity we did a deal with the council in another city to play there until the new stadium is built. We will be playing in Alcanena, a little way north of Lisbon at the Estadio Municipal Joaquim Maria Baptista, that holds 5,400 people.

Having moved up to the top division it was time to make some sweeping changes in the staff. The following staff came in Joao Sousa, Luis Mesquita, Marcio Ramos, Pau Marti (a new assistant manager), Said Zaibila, Rui Tavares, Mariana Campos, Pedro Emanuel, David Lucas, Alexandre Melo, Shadel Samuel, Joao Raimundo, Damia Abella

Towards the end of the season we signed a new 3 year deal again with another pay increase.

PLAYER MOVEMENTS FOR THE SEASON

This season there were some tough decisions to be made with the Under 19s. I could have brought up more, but I don’t want people to be blocked from playing time. So, in the end we brought up Goncalo Casqueiro, Miguel Ribeiro, Fabio Leite and Vitor Ferreira.

Jan Reffert could have come up, but I am trying to retrain him to left back and I want him to get more accustomed to the position before he comes up. Nuno Compadrinho could come up as goalkeeper, but we are already pushing Alexandre, so it is important that Compadrinho gets football before he becomes a backup. Aneximandro Carmelo is probably ready to play a part in the first team, but with Casqueiro a little further along and both playing of the right wing, I don’t want them to compete with each other in the first team.

Ivan Monteiro was another candidate, but Miguel Ribeiro came from last years intake looking ready, so he will have another season behind the strikers with the Under 19s. In the early part of the season, I start to see the team a little differently and brought him up as I felt he could get enough football this season.

In the January window we had to sell young goalkeeper Henriques as he was never going to be up to the standard and he wanted to leave, so this meant that Compadrinho was brought up to the first team, to the backup.

In mid February Casqueiro got a long term injury and this meant it was time to bring up Aneximandro Carmelo

RESULTS

We absolutely smashed it this season. All the beliefs I had that it would probably be a step too far were not correct as we managed to get 6^th place in the league and thanks to the Portuguese Cup result, this qualified us for UEFA Europa Conference League football next season. We did get a few batterings along the way which contributed to us ending with a negative goal difference, such as the 7-1 battering we got at the hands of Benfica early in the season, but the boys really rose to the challenge and we were never really in danger of relegation. We mostly flirted around mid table, then looked nailed on for Europe, then wavered before on the final day securing qualification with a 1-0 win at Casa Pia and other results going our way.

In the Portuguese cup we went a step further than we have ever gone going all the way to the semi final, where we lost to Familicao over two legs, so that was a great achievement.

In the League Cup we only made as far as the 2nd Round, it was early in the season and not really a big priority for me, plus we were up against Sporting CP.

A superb season.

The link shows the gulf between us and remainder of the league. This was taken part way through the season. Our total wage expenditure per year is just under £500k, and Benfica's is £109m

PERFORMANCES

Both young goalkeepers this season went from strength to strength and had over a 7 rating with Joao Alexandre with a 7.03 and Nuno Compadrinho with a 7.12 albeit with much less games played, as he only filled in when Alexandre was injured. Alexandre is even nominated this season for Goalkeeper of the Season which a great achievement at just 17 years old.

Rui Pires defies logic, a player that was already on the books in the youth team when we showed up somehow continues to contribute at every level we pass through. His ability rating had fallen relative to the talent we now have but he is still solid. He got 14 goals this season and wasn’t even playing every game.

Ivan Monteiro came up past way through the season and was a revelation, he got the highest average rating at 7.10 of those that played a lot and he got 14 goals from attacking midfield.

Ismael Toure has really improved and was the top goalscorer last season with 19 goals as well as 6 assists. A great all round performance from him.

Then we had some players who didn’t really stand out on the pitch but have really come on this year in Goncalo Casqueiro, Fabio Leite, Aneximandro Carmelo, Miguel Ribeiro and Pedro Guilherme. They have all really improved and I am excited to see the team next season.

Another thing to mention is that we now quite a few players away with the youth international set ups.

We also have our first internationally capped player with the team as Innocent Ishimwe made his debut for Rwanda.

Ismael Toure is also considered Number 1 in the NXGN 2030 - Best Wondkids

UNDER 19s

The Under 19s performed well again, once again making through the Southern League, finishing in second place. However the Championship Group didn’t go to plan and we finished 7^th, only above Estoril Praia. Still a great performance from the youngsters.

Both a hugely successful and hugely frustrating season! we were wildly erratic on the pitch, at one point winning 6 in a row only to then lose the next 4, including against both teams at the bottom. We managed to get into the playoffs though where our amazing form returned to get us promoted to the top division! sadly the money isn't quite EPL levels so we've still got worries there...

interesting season in that he was completely settled all season and seemed to want to play for us, which was nice. He's become our most important attacker in the front three

Player of the Season: Friedrich Mukanya 27A (7.32 rating in 28 games)

Interesting one, as I always had Mukanya pegged as a future member of the front three. But I was desperate for midifleders and he was accomplished there so he got put there out of necessity. But he can score and assist there and soon became our best midfielder. having him natural in both positions makes him a hugely valuable squad member too

So, with a week of the January window left the board sent me this message:-

I hadn't managed to raise 518k through players sales - though i had tried! nobody was biting. But now it was open season on all our players.

Luckily, I only lost two as i only got three offers, and one i managed to persuade to sign a new deal with us. But the most upsetting deal....

Yep, they sold my superstar youth prospect for a measly 61k with no sell on!!!! I couldn't believe it! I completely understand why people quite Belgium so much - it's infuriating! Oh, and his transfer valuer now he's at Nice? 7-11m!!!!! goddammit board!

a week later, the damage done, i get this:-

but there's more. Our stadium isn't up to standard so the board announced a new stadium

So that's another 11m loan to add to the 10m loan we already have. The finances here are screwed!

Career

Season 2 ended just outside the playoffs. It was disappointing because we were in control of our own fate, but failed to win on the last day. Honestly I don't think this team was ready to go up, but it would have been nice to give it a go. For the team of the season Quintongo, Salisbury, White, and Crichlow were all additions from the first intake. So the team is starting to transition to the homegrown players. Also including transfer history for the first 2 seasons to comply with the rules of the challenge.

Season 3 is starting out promising as well. Wil check in with the Intake Preview later.

2059/60 Season Report

League:

Nearly the most sane and calm league we've had in Scotland for about 20 years now. Everyone roughly finished whereabouts they should finish, with Celtic and Hearts underachieving quite a bit here. We had a bit of a shocking start (8 points from the first 7 games) which meant we lost ground on Hibs who almost led from start to finish. We're now at the point where we've got one of the best defences in the league finally (it helps when you're able to keep your players!) with the back-ups being of a decent enough standard to sub in as well. We finished poorly as well which didn't help, although reasons for that are below...

Europe:

Still not the big trophy, but we're getting closer and closer every few years!

We lost 3 games in the Europa League and somehow both of them were to teams that I really shouldn't have been losing to! We really should have breezed past Betis in the Semi Final too, but we surrendered a 2-0 lead to somehow lose 4-2 and then blew them off the park in the return leg in Scotland.

On first glance, facing Liverpool in a European final, I expected a bit of a battering considering my record against English sides. However they're actually a mid-table team at the moment, only getting into Europe by finishing 7th, only 2 points ahead of 11th!

We left it a liiiiitle bit late, but Zhelyazkov is becoming a bit of a hero for us! Top scorer in the Europa League itself with 14 goals, he left his most important 2 till the last moment! I'd have actually been incredibly disappointed if we lost considering how tight it was.

Cups:

In the words of a great poet, "Oops, I did it again!".

That's 4 consecutive Scottish Cups for us now. We're apparently a cup team now. Might actually help in the Champions League if we can get out the League Phase next year! We're still not good enough to go far in the main cup though, so anything past the Round of 16 in the Champions League would be a success for us really.

Youth Intake:

Although what does help is a rather decent intake! 2 Full 5 star potentials, both with Perfectionist personalities? Loving. It.

Cameron Macdonald and Bede Simon both look rather decent, although the last few prospects we've had like this haven't actually got anywhere close to decent ability so I'm a bit more cautious now! They will obviously be helped by our beloved Solomon Frimpong in the under 18s whilst he finishes his career. He's still not fallen off from the last screenshot (although the physicals are starting to go). Still popped up with another 11 goal season in 32 league games, so he's still very useful.

He's also on 969 total appearances for the club, so there might be some lovely 90th minute sub appearances for him next season to get him to the 1000 mark!
