Youth Intake day. Season 4. Brondby.

395ab34bf220a478dc0d5049a91d7547.png

Something very weird happened when I tried to offer (25a) Schultz 6'2" a contract. To start off, he initially wanted a big rise, (which is something that I haven't seen before and is a little strange when he was on £0 before this was offered, but I removed that clause anyway), and then he only wanted to sign a 3 month contract. This is all a little unusual. Granted this is a new game, but this is the 4th Youth Intake I've seen in FM21 and this is new. It's very unusual. Interestingly the same thing happened to (25c) Lauritzen 6'5" too. I wonder if this is an indication of potential?

Lo and behold, these 2 players just happen to have the best CA rating of the group.

To murky the waters some more, the 3rd player that caught my eye, (25h) Müller (FRO), didn't ask for the big pay rise but did only ask for a 3 month contract. The best players seem to want to put limitations on the contract offers. That's how better players work as they grow up, so we can also use that info now I think.

(25a) Schultz 6'2" appears to be the best player I have produced so far in FM21. Obviously time will tell whether and how much he develops, but at the moment he's looking great. Really great.

4b5bd4ffeef04e74e2c87ebc4233d602.png

(25c) Lauritzen 6'5" looks great too. The only negative is "balance" which I think is a key attribute in outfield players, (especially attacking players), but maybe it doesn't carry as much weight with GK's..........

6da259313807976af34d2b14c3122684.png

(25h) Müller (FRO) is a really interesting one. (FRO) is Faroe Islands so for a start if he's anywhere decent at all then he will be playing International football. I know his physicals look weak, but they're not hugely weak, (apart from balance and strength), and there is something there to work with at least. Get his acceleration, agility and pace up 2 points each and things will look much better. His Technicals look excellent and his Mentals look good. Depending on how much he develops, (remember I really take PA stars on day 1 with an enormous pinch of salt and expect his should be higher).

56616d0ae2ad02d6469ef22ee82077b4.png

* In case any of you wonder why I'm adding height to some players it's because especially in a new squad where players can play in multiple positions I don't want to get caught playing a "small" player in a position or a role that requires a "big" player. I have been caught out in key games already in this save.

Stig-Helmer's Great Escape

In the southern part of Sweden in the village of Sankt Olof we first meet one of just 624 inhabitants. Stig-Helmer Wahlroos. A former doctor in his mid-60s who with his aggressive temperament, extreme obsession with personal glory and an impenetrable pride was a neurosurgeon in a private hospital in Malmö. But following a horribly failed operation Stig-Helmer has felt forced to flee over the Øresund bridge and into Denmark.
As he walks around his large wooden 3-story house he is sofly remembering life in Sweden as he prepares to leave everything behind.
He howls of laughter as he pulls a photo down from above one of his 4 fireplaces. "Look! Look at his stupid face!" the laughter and the howling is endless, "such stupidity! His IQ is probably average as well! Ha-HA-ha!"

He filled his glass with wine - his own actually, as he part-owned a local Swedish winery - and sank it all in one distasteful gulp. "Jävla..." he coughed. Soon he started laughing again as his gaze passed the picture once again.
The picture was of one of his patients who would repeatedly show up at the private hospital with ever more absurd conditions of a faux ailing health.  Stig-Helmer was not impressed to say the least, and one time he had taken the patient in for a surgery and decided to give the man's face a "lift". He had pulled one corner of his mouth up, lowered the corner in the other side. Changed his nostrils, and removed both eyebrows. And then, of course, taken a selfie with the patient while he was still in narcosis. That selfie was the picture above the fireplace. The only printed picture in his entire house. Yes, you go Stig-Helmer.

But, as mentioned, the otherwise perfect Stig-Helmer had messed up in an operation and following an extended period of hiding documents, bribing - or threatening - colleagues and patients it finally seemed like he was safe from any accusations that he himself had in fact been at fault for the operation. Having already had five of his colleagues fired - four who had been part of the surgery gone south, and one who was on holiday - every suspicion had cleared off. That was until a surveillance tape was handed in to the private hospital's board that clearly showed an intoxicated Stig-Helmer come waltzing into the hospital, prostitutes on his arm as he was flinging empty wine bottles through the room and loudly singing "Helan går;  Sjung hopp faderallan lallan lej;  Helan går;  Sjung hopp faderallan lej" before he would enter the operating theatre. He kissed one of the prostitutes on the mouth and shunned them to the corner of the room while laughing and schussing on them. He put on his gear for the surgery and laughed as his colleagues who looked at him in dismay. Every so often during the operation he would blow kisses in the directions of the prostitutes and the surveillance camera continued recording as Stig-Helmer eventually started vomiting violently barely 5 minutes after having started the operation. He passed out and got carried out by the prostitutes and a janitor and slept off his buzz on the bench in front of the hospital..

Once he heard whispers of the recording he fell to his knees, looked up as he held his hands above his head and averred to God, "you know I am innocent. I am a good, law abiding citizen." Then seconds later he grabbed his coat and suitcase and rushed out the door and home to the 3-story wooden house.

At last he was finished saying farewell to his house and left to drive away into his silver Volvo V40 before speeding off into the night.

- Oh, right, forgot to mention he placed a body of a deceased patient in the house before setting it all on fire to stage his own death to escape any further prosecution. I guess that is sort of relevant to the story.

AB Season 1 Review

I managed to get AB promoted in my first season which I wasn't expecting. Schmeichel's magic touch brings AB success already.

Brondby didn't do well this season with them finishing 6th and losing 2-1 to AaB in the Euorpean places playoff final.

Yet their manager's job is safe for some reason. Hopefully the Brondby job becomes available soon.

"Boss, I don't quite know why were here."

You stand off the edge of the same mountain Herbert brought you too, birds flying through the air as Magnus Pedersen, your hopefully new signing stares around perplexed.

"Well Magnus, you've been trialling with us for three weeks now, and Hakan and I have been impressed." You tell him.

"So we went and had a chat to Herbert and the rest of the lads and we've decided we want to keep you around, if you're willing to join the team."

You haven't even turned around before he's grabbed your hand into a firm shake. He towers over you and you duck out of the way of a stray tear, trying to shake yourself from the vice-grip you didn't know he had.

"Thank you, Boss, I won't let you down." He tells you, finally letting your hand free.

"I'm sure you won't." You say with a laugh, hiding said hand behind your back and shaking it to try and restore some bloodflow. "And even if you did we're flying above expectations this year, I just want you to go out and play your best football. Who knows, you might even get a call to Old Trafford like I did!"

Magnus looks at you with admiration. "How did you end up there boss? Who scouted you?"

"My father," You tell him. "He sent them some videos, and then they sent me a contract. He told me that my signing was an offer they couldn't refuse."

You then turn to look over the edge. "He died last year, and my contract ran out. I didn't have the heart to keep playing, but he always wanted to see me in football, knew it was my dream. So I decided to become a manager and fulfil his wishes."

Magnus is silent in the wake of your admission. "But that's enough about me!" You say with a nervous titter as you try to clasp his shoulder but can only reach his upper back. "How about you head home and get ready to join us in training tomorrow, we'll have the contract there and ready to sign so you can start this weekend against Horsens."

"That's amazing sir, I mean it, I'll make sure you never regret this decision."

You watch as he takes his leave, going back down the path you'd walked. He’s extremely talented, and you’re amazed he’s even signing an amateur contract. He could easily be playing in the league above, or even getting paid for his talents at the bare minimum.

You’ll have to ensure his success is rewarded.

Season 1 - Slagelse Bolklub & Idraetsforening

Predicted to struggle we went the first 9 games of the season unbeaten before eventually losing to Middlefart. A ropey November cost us as we reached the winter break in 6th. A good March and April was ruined by a 4-0 humbling by Holbaek, a club already relegated. Middlefart got the better of us again but we pulled together 8 points from the final 5 games to remain in 3rd place and earn a respectable finish.

6a2df92d81acc803c3971c4b1801c757.png

We had one stand out performer in Frederik Christensen as he finished the season on 17 goals. All the players on high wages (everyone over £200 p/w) are being released. That will give me the scope to strengthen across the board next season.

We're in debt by £230k but have still been given an increased wage budget for next season. I've already agreed a couple of deals for new players when their contracts expire with their current club.

HIK

2021-22 Promotion Stage

Exciting news! I found the "set nickname" button so I've mananged to change my name in game. Its now what I wanted in the first place!

I'm not going to lie I wasn't expecting anything in this stage. I was happy to just be here. I wanted to get through it as fast as possible so I switched to only commentary.

0a71be0e7b5f981f6454b98022cdc66b.png

We started pretty much as I expected. The first 4-4 was frustrating because we were 4-2 heading into the last 2 minutes. The second 4-4 we were 4-2 down with 2 minutes to go so talk about karma coming back!

We finished brilliantly beating 1st and 2nd away from home. Lyngby actually needed to win in order to secure promotion. ab7b8372d408c09330ca342029ee923f.png

They secured because results went their way. We finish just the 1 point behind Promotion. We were mathmatically out with 3 games to go so it seemed like as soon as pressure was off we played brilliantly. We scored a lot but also conceded loads, all down to the attacking mentality.

Overall I'm absolutely delighted with the season.

0cfa2f751a755602a5eaa91c7301967c.png

They were bottom 2 all season and deserved to go down.

Didn't get this last seasons so here we go...

Phew that was a lot of screenshots!

So basically I'm happy with how this season went. I wanted to survive and we went above and beyond. I can't see myself staying another season if I'm honest. It will be hard to take the next step with HIK. Lets see what happens in the Off-Season.

2022-23 Pre-Season

So a new team comes with a set of new problems. 053201a20eca5734f0831e31e64f43b1.png

Mainly this!

d2de5bf6cd0e169585939db4dfb232e8.png

We are spending too much money! We are heavy favourites to win promotion back to the big league and its fairly obvious anything less won't be good enough here.

5a11c44997568d79232f0add0ee502f9.png

The team isn't big at all which much mean there are some players on here earning a lot of money. I don't like that. It means right now just before the friendlies start I can't really recruit.

My tactic calls for wingbacks and CDM which the side doesn't really have. It means my strongest starting XI looks like this...

30cfb3e2508e5955f0371e016bfd0737.png

It leaves a lot to be desired. I'm starting to think I've made a little mistake to be honest.

Sydbank Pokalen campaign. Season 5. Brondby

As usual I'm afraid I fell a little short in comparison to @smp20 :(

I can't really complain about losing to Midgetland. I've always struggled to pronounce this club and as we're here and likely to be playing them a fair bit it's about time I learned.

46a4c43c28ab93fc71636b6a5581f183.png

So it seems like its pronounced "FC Mitulan". (That's my story and I'm sticking with it). Anyway, we're out the cup.

1.Division League campaign. Season 5. Brondby

We were crowned champions with 5 games to spare as I personally retained the trophy that I won last season with HB Køge. It was a risk dropping back down and inviting the pressure of getting promoted again at the 1st attempt, but we absolutely romped it from start to finish.

I rotated the squad after we won the game against Lyngby, and that explains the 2 losses while the new players got up to speed.

That's only the 1.Division. (They were relegated before I took over). Now I have to win the 3F Superliga and also try to win a European trophy.

I might be the 1st, but I might not be the quickest if that makes sense. I have already completed 5 seasons and won titles with 3 different teams, but I've maybe not taken the most direct route.

I saw on Twitter some posts about #DanskeDanske recently, but I only just found out that there was a topic here! I'll probably join this challenge, as soon as the full version is out. I'm not sure if I want to start it within the Beta.

I will follow this topic from now on with interest!

Good work @Jimbokav1971on getting Brondby promoted. Really looking forward to see how you get on with the big challenges of winning everything left!

It absolutely IS better because it was against Brondby. :applause:

Thanks, I took a bit of a risk by dropping down and risking the chance of getting sacked after 1 season if I didn't win the league, but it has paid off and I think we are REALLY well set now. Looking forward to playing a more "normal" type of save for me now, (ie. always looking to the future).

A.B Mid Season Update | Season 2 21/22

So after an initial panic before the season starts things are going really well here. After last season had finished I was desperately trying to extend the loans of all of my players especially from parent club Nordsjaelland but the players simply wouldn't accept an extension, even if I promised them they would be a star player. However, after they returned to their clubs I tried to loan them again and thankfully they all agreed to rejoin! The slightly disappointing thing is that despite having a lot of wage budget to spend I can't seem to offer the players I want to keep what is required to get them to stay, in addition to this if I wanted to sign a youngster as a rotation piece at best, he wants the same money as what a star player wants. Oh well, I guess i'll just stick to loans!

Around November I did decide to sign a player for pretty big wages. We bought Teddy Bartouche in on loan from Nordsjaelland for nothing and it was remarkable just how much better he made our team. Knowing that his loan was only going to be until December I decided that I didn't want to risk not having him so we have agreed to pay him £750 p/w (I think!) with an additional year extension clause in his contract. The other most pleasing bit of business that we did was from last year when we extended Peter Clement to a new deal. While he is still only on a part time deal he currently wants an increase to £800 p/w to turn full time. Thankfully we can still extend his contract for another year at his current wage, and the way he has been playing this year then that is a good thing, because I can't imagine it will be too long before other teams want to take him off our hands.

* * * * *

As I said things are going really well and in our first season back in the Nordic League we are sitting top of the table clear by 2 points over relegated Lyngby. We have only lost 1 game and that was one that we should never have lost. Thankfully since then we have gone on a great run and have won 10 straight. The great thing about this run is that we have scored late goals when we needed them and have continued winning while suffering some injuries in key positions. Since we have already qualified for the promotion play-off at the end of the season we can now look forward to the rest of the season and prioritize the cup competition.

Speaking of the cup, we have just had our best ever result under my management beating Superliga team FC Kobenhavn on penalties in the 3rd round. In front of the TV cameras (another helpful £6k) and a big crowd we fought back twice from behind including scoring another last minute goal and thankfully we were able to come out on top in the penalty shootout. In the fourth round we will play non league FA 2000.
