Think how many goals we could get if someone stood on the 6 yard box when Suarez has the ball outwide and dribbles it in. oohhhh

So a midfielder then?

This suggestion of moving Suarez is as hilarious as the "Johnson should play on the wing" that comes up annually. Be far less effective starting out wide.

What is hilarious is that you think Suarez is the best striker in the league. He is an excellent player, but the best striker in the league? Come on...

Best in the league an overstatement, I'll admit - I'd meant to add the clause 'at the moment'. 7 goals in 10 games considering the lack of creativity around him is no mean feat at all. We create less clear chances than 11 of the 12 teams around us, and Suarez is still getting assists and creating multiple opportunities for himself and others around him.

Regardless, I stand by my point that it's sheer idiocy to be moving him out to the sideline. He's so successful at what he's doing attempting moving him would be counter-productive.

This suggestion of moving the guy who's currently probably the best striker in the league out wide is hilarious. Tell me more.

unless, y'know, you've actually watched how he plays or anything. He's not an out and out striker, he's as much creative outside the box as he is good in it, if not more so. He played out wide for Ajax and also at times for Uruguay, no one is suggesting he hugs the touchline ffs. Henry drifting in from outwide to support Bergkamp? Remember that?

I don't know how much of the rest of team's inability to get goals is down to them being rubbish, and how much is down to Suarez being a bit too much of a ball hog/bad final passer.

The aim would be for more of the team to contribute goals by removing Suarez from being such a filter for final third play, but not removing him enough that we lose the impact that he can have.

Henry excelled at running at the defence from a deeper position. Suarez gets the ball playing off the centre back, running into a channel, and then turns at the defender. Very different to Henry.

Maybe you'd notice that if you'd actually, y'know, watched how he plays or anything.

And he didn't play out wide for Ajax ffs. Did you actually ever watch him there? Or have you ever watched him for Uruguay? People throw around this rubbish because they read it somewhere without having actually watched the team they're mentioning ffs. :D

Suarez is currently on track to hit 25 league goals for the season. Only an idiot would want to tamper with that. We need to supplement him, not shift him around ffs.

Arguing whether he played wide or not isn't the issue, its the fact he's not really suited to play as the main forward on his own. For Ajax he played off of Huntelaar then Pantelic, for Uruguay there's Forlan or Cavani.

If we insist on playing a 4-3-3 and him playing this "false 9" then you have to expect the two wide forwards and at least one midfielder to be chipping in with double figures a season, that's the only way it works and currently we are 0 for 3 in that department.

The easier option than trying to buy 3 world class players is to buy one good forward and move Suarez to a position where he will be just as effective in a role he's already used to playing anyway.

Suarez never plays wide for Uruguay from what I see. They'd rather play Cavani out there than him. It would be pretty ridiculous to make him play wide, you'd take away half his game. Won't happen.

What he needs is support around him, the biggest problem with our formation atm is absolutely no support from midfield. Shelvey was dreadful when he came on against Newcastle, but even then, the mere fact that he had the capability to get forward and play off Suarez changed the game.

We're currently playing 3 pretty static central midfielders in the starting lineup in Allen, Sahin and Gerrard. Gerrard's legs have gone, Sahin hasn't got an engine, and Allen is needed deeper. As a result we're relying almost solely on Suarez to get on the end of everything, or create something out of nothing to take the pressure off the kids playing wide. Its not working well enough atm. Perhaps when Lucas returns it would free up Sahin and Gerrard and give them a little more licence to play in more advanced roles. I hope so anyway.

We, don't play 4-4-2 tho its not as if anyone is expecting him to play right midfield. If anything if we played 4-4-2 it would be easier as there would be another Forward to get into the box and he would play the withdrawn role.

If he played one of the two wide forward roles he could still get on and do his thing, it wouldn't restrict his game in anyway but we would have a central striker whose job it is to get into the box.

A midfielder or two wanting to get in there wouldn't hurt either but at the moment every game there's a big void and without millions to splash around it seems the simplest fix.

It's a shame Rodgers is too subborn and limited to switch to a 4-2-3-1 because its perfect for our players. Give Suarez the role in behind the striker and build an attacking unit around him with a goalscorer up top and 2 wide men who keep their width which would give Luis the space needed to tear opponents apart.

pretty sure BR is planning to move Suarez out wide, it's the sensible thing to do.

Id play him off a striker. Loves playing with his back to goal and turning to run through the middle. Let him do it from deeper with a goal scorer with quality movement in front of him.

How exactly would he be playing with his back to goal and turning to run through the middle if he's in a deeper position? :D

Quality tactical insight there from the guy who wanted Kenny to stay. :D

Get players to fit the system. If it works, don't **** with it, just be rid of those who can't contribute to it.
