England - The Road to 2012 (now featuring Wayne Rooney) but not his touch

Lennon or Downing ... jeez, what a choice :/

I don't even know our squad, who are the wide players, wondering if we'll start 4-3-3 with Rooney centre and Adam Johnson and someone else wide with Gerrard, Barry and whoever in the midfield? Seems weak though, judging by the fact I can't remember the players alone :D

Rooney and Bent then, Crouch is fit, right? Crouch maybe then as he likes a big guy, Adam Johnson has to start, Downing / SWP to start on the left? *shudders* What about Ashley Young?

Here you go Razzler. Get with it, something wrong if even you aren't interested in the current England squad :D

Then we probably will play 4-4-2, thought he may go with Rooney alone if he doesn't fancy Bent or Crouch but reckon one of them must be starting, probably Crouch and why disrupt the Gerrard/Barry thing, was doing ok. Adal Johnson wide and then it's the left side I am not sure about, maybe Ashley Young even though he's playing through the middle a bit more atm at Villa, I'd be amazed if SWP started but then again Capello does have a crush on the little fella'

ffs, this was a good chance for Bent to stake a claim. This injury list is immense.

Lennon

Walcott

Defoe

Bent

Lampard

Dawson

JT

Jags

All a bit silly. Oh and I don't really care who's captain. Rio or Gerrard. Not fussed. I'm sure both players would love to be captain but I don't think it'll have any effect on their performances if they are or aren't

Kinda justifies calling up Davies really. He might play now. Rather have Davies on the bench then Andy Carroll or another random youngster for this important and tricky fixture.

Which was my feeling all along.

I think you can't really take the captaincy off of Rio. He made him captain and then Rio has proceeded to be injured, he's not captained England since in a competitive game I don't think. It'd be harsh to take it from him without ever having been captain.

I think leave it on Rio but if he keeps getting injured then something will be done about making Gerrard captain permenantly

Feel really bad for Darren Bent. Great chance for him, in top form, got his first England goal in the last game. He must of been really pumped and up for it.

Crouch will score tonight. Typical game where Crouch isn't expected to play at the start of the week but ends up starting and scoring. He does it all the time. In fact I'm going to put a fiver on him to score first

they didn't do anything all game, the goal came from us passing it sideways with everyone pushed on (CB's past the halfway line) Muamba got it caught under his feet, they then countered down the right, we panic'd a bit and the cross deflected about alot=goal.

england dominated but no penetration because they had very tight lines of 4

Yay, well done, not sure we'll continue our good recent record in the U21 tournaments but good to consistently to be qualifying for this, especially as qualifying is fairly tricky as opposed 16 teams making it

I would have worries with the current squad, but there are some very good players that have played during the campaign who could play next summer and form a strong squad.

tbh our record at youth levels not been too bad. U21's we were semi's last time, runners up before. U17 Euro champs. U19 Euro semi's, runners up the time before.

Forgot about Gibbs. What about Micah Richards. Wiki says he last played same game Gibbs did. So should be able too.

We wouldn't have that bad a side really if Gibbs, Walcott and Richards were called up. Wilshere and Rodwell would be involved too. Jordan Henderson and Marc Albrighton on course to have have great seasons in the Prem. Might not be a bad little side

Pearce actually had them playing nice stuff in the home leg. it was good to see muamba DMC without the ball but Henderson DMC with the ball (i.e to start the moves) the play was generally tidy but there was no real exciting penetration. no flair or willingness to have a pop (until the first goal)

(thought we didn't need muamba mind you)

I just hope Phil Jones goes on to be worth 50million

Surely that is some kind of joke? It looks like an England shirt that's caught the measles. Utterly ridiculous.

I don't get this whole multi-coloured St. George's cross thing either. Surely St. George's cross is red and white. Any other colour and it ceases to be a St. George's cross, doesn't it?

I keep seeing a blue version of it popping up on advertising boards at matches. It looks more like the Flag of Finland than of England.

I didn't think that awful idea could get any worse but apparently I was wrong.

What are they doing to the England shirt, honestly? I wish they'd just stop mucking around with it really. :thdn:

If there's a chance that Wilshire and Gibbs will be in the England squad for the (hopefully) Euros I do wonder if they will be selected for the U21 tournament, it means they'd play through for effectively 2 years, young lads, etc so I wonder about that. Obviously you want the best team and I also think any kind of international tournament experience in any age group is invaluable for a player
