alexgildea
I play my FM with music, but always had to alt-tab out to change genres from time to time. So I was wondering if FM could incorporate an in-game media player, so that I could listen to music without switching from program to program. Of course, it should be optional when you install the game since I'm sure not everyone would want it. Even cooler if it was a media player, so what I can play short movie clips while the game is loading. Of course, I'm sure that would extend the loading time, but I'm guessing those who have packed up all that RAM wouldn't mind.
Moaner
i think this is a good idea. i listen to music a lot whilst playing FM but iTunes seems to make it run a bit slower and "jumpier".
Mike7077
I've tried to play FM and run Windows Media Player at the same time. It didn't go too well.
SmurfDude
I play FM in windowed mode with Winamp in the top right of the screen (MMD3 skin ftw) and it doesn't slow FM down in the slightest...
Blackcats
I just use media player and have to minimise but it might be nice to have a little music slot in FM. However i doubt it will ever happen

SI Staff Ter Posted September 6, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted September 6, 2008 I don't think something like this would be high on the priority list if it was even on the agenda
roe
Didn't they have this on Fifa Manager last year as well? Personally, I just open Windows Media player if I want to listen to music as well. My pc isn't the best though so it does slow down FM a bit
buzzing_hornet
I can see the advantages but i'm far from eager for it to be in the game, before i had more memory added to the PC running itunes at the same time as FM slowed it down alot so i ended up plugging my ipod into some portable speakers. KUBI
Next would be an ingame-phone. Please, let the developers focus on the most important part of the game.
Socdk
Footie manager + Winamp = Game plus music... No need to develop an in-game music player since Football Manager is one of the best alt+tabbing games EVA! Highly unnecessary
ruff
Do the same as SmurfDude, just in FM settings, switch off full screen then its easy to wish, when in loading screens etc just go over to your player and pick whst you want
buzzing_hornet
It's pointless for us that play in windowed mode as we can easily have iTunes minimized into mini-player and the same goes for WMP etc etc.
scrawney
I'd like to see some of the in-game sound files changed before putting in a music player especially hearing Tom Hark play whenever the home team scores in a football league game
MartPoom_97
I created a FM playlist on iTunes with a few hundred songs so I didn't have to alt tab in and out of programs

JohnShaft
How about an FM in-game Cup-o'-Tea Maker? Even cooler if it could bake me biscuits.
Iggy
I coulda swore there was something like that for one of the earliest fm games or maybe the latest cm games. Could have been a plugin someone made tho, but im sure i saw it!
Thepathtoamen
Would slow the game down to much. although I would use it if my oc was better. WMP works fine thou.
hufton
Surely you could use an mp3 player or a radio so that your game wouldn't run slower. Personally I don't have a problem playing FM and Windows Media Player at the same time anyway, and I have keyboard controls for changing the song, pausing, etc. There's not any great need for time to be spent on this. trekman
I play FM in windowed mode with Winamp in the top right of the screen (MMD3 skin ftw) and it doesn't slow FM down in the slightest... I do this as well. Absolutely no need for an in-game music player.
Scotty Walds
You could always use a CD player, or even an MP3 player with headphones...
Neji
It would be a good feature for some I guess but I just have iTunes running at the same time, but then again my Pc can handle it which I suspect alot cant.
Tafkans
What most other people said. Absolutely pointless and irrelevant. You'll be asking them to bundle an email client within FM next.
Äktsjon Männ
Can't see why people still use Media Player to play their music. It's a memory hog, looks ugly and the sound output is appalling. Itunes is carp as well, but i guess it's a necessity for mac and Ipod users. Anyway, an integrated music player for FM is not needed. Winamp is good enough to do exactly what's needed and with classic skin on it doesn't slow the game down at all.
gipsy
You have to see bigger... how about a full integrated web browser in fm ? : O)

I agree.. cant see how anyone can even touch WMP.. it is the worst media player available.. winamp has everything and more and is better, faster and better looking.. Ferrari312
Play windowed mode, that way your comp won't go nuts when you (try to) alt+tab out
Themistofelis
I am using VLC , small & free What FM needs is a radio player so we can listen to our real club's matches while we are playing the game
bdgr
I personally use a cd and hi-fi combination!!! Can't really see any point to a music player on the pc, the sound isn't going to be as good out of crappy pc speakers!
Nomis07
I just turn the sound off and listen to shows i've missed on BBC iPlayer, Adam & Joe from 6music is a particular favourite.

Suzie MUFC
If SI made a music player and FM09 turned out to have a few bugs (which in a sim of FM's complexity, it most likely will do), they'd get shouted at for spending more time on things that aren't needed than on fixing the bugs. tdc5013
I would support it if the default music was the theme tune to Dream Team, full blast, on infinite loop. With absolutely no volume control.
Egan
Wow, I had no idea this is an issue for so many people, you bunch of mp3 munching techno-scamps. I feel so behind the times.
