New Laptop/PC- Help Needed

Recommended Posts

I need some help please

I'am totally lost i do not understand this pc gardon even if it hit me in the face.

I currently have a mid 2011 mac but i can not play with decent graphics low it a AMD Radeon HD 6750M it says 512mb???

It plays fine but i want the full graphics on very high on a new PC as i love the lights and the look of the game on the videos with better graphics. Sad but true i love the way the floodlight shimmer and all that but i'm a techno non entirety. I have spend half my day looking through ebay and seeing all this mumbo jumbo terms i'm lost. All i want is a decent pc nothing fancy i looked at Alianware but it seems expensive very expensive.

I do not have much money but currently have 8GB of ram on my mac and play large with quite a few leagues loaded.

Can somebody point me into the right direction for a decent PC i do not play any other games bar FM but want the highest spec on graphics on the game sad i know.

All or any help is appreciated

I usually play on key highlights only so I suppose the graphics aren't all that important for me.  About 8 leagues loaded.  I would like to have something reasonably fast.  Would this be any good?

What are the downsides to this laptop?

Thanks

Desktop PC CPU. What the best CPU for having ALL League running? i7 6800k?

The i7 6700k is a faster processor.

http://ark.intel.com/compare/94189,88195

The 6800k has 6 cores - as opposed to the 6700 which has 4 cores.

But for FM 4 cores is way more than enough - and the faster base speed would be an advantage.

if you want to run all leagues just buy the best you can afford, it's all a matter of personal opinion if a game is fast or not.

Just because it costs more doesn't make it better for Football Manager.

I think I’ve decided on a reconditioned desk top, mainly for football manager but also web browsing and some word etc.  With a budget of up to £350.

I usually do just one save for about 20 years.  Once I’ve worked my way up the leagues I’ll have loaded the top divisions from 8 Euro leagues and 3 S American leagues.

I like to play on key highlights or even just commentary only.

If someone could be good enough to point me in the right direction for my needs re processor, ram, hard drive, and anything else I’ll require to play the game fairly quickly.  By quickly I mean loading and saving the game, and the time it takes after pressing the continue button before you can do anything.

Many thanks

Hi, this laptop has been linked earlier: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/

It has now gone down to just over £350. Now to me this looks like a bargain? However it gets some mixed reviews on there. Anyone have an idea of how FM would run on this?

Also generally whenever I look online AMD processors tend to get a bit of a negative write up compared to Intel, as such I'm always a little wary of them. Is this justified? Anyone here happily playing on an AMD laptop?

I actually bought an atom powered Lenovo in a vain attempt to ween myself of FM, alas its been unsuccessful:lol:

Any thoughts or advice appreciated. Cheers :)

That's good enough for FM, 3D will likely be on mix medium to low settings (I'd suggest turning off stuff like the sky & outside scenery as that just icing), league setup will depend on your own preference for processing between matches but I do not see you having any trouble running half a dozen nations without it being intolerably slow going.

Cheers for that Barside :). That HP doesnt sound that great really, just me being tight and seeing a potential bargain:lol:

To be fair I don't really need it until the beta comes out, so I'll just keep up my daily ritual of scanning this thread and hotukdeals and see if anything good comes up.

Although the Asus from Saveonlaptops does look tempting

Hello! Just one last boring question, I swear! Now I've been searching around looking for bargains and came across this:

Medion Erazer

At £579 that does seem a pretty good deal? Or is there something I'm massively over looking? It has a slightly better graphics card than the Asus and an SSD, but does that mke it worth the extra £80? I really don't know:lol: Any advice or views appreciated, ta :)

Asus is certainly a brand I trust more than the other two when it comes to putting together a laptop however it's not offering enough of a performance increase over the HP to justify the extra cost & it's got a lower resolution screen than the other two which is something I would take into account. For me the GTX750M in the Medion gives it the edge & would justify the extra cost but I do not know enough about their build quality & you'll probably want to do some research or see if anyone else in here can offer an opinion

Cheers for that Barside, good to know. :)

Regarding Medion from what I can tell they got bought out by Lenovo and appear to be ok now. However online their rep seems to be clouded by how they were pre buy out when the build quality wasnt great and they were regular feature in the special sales at Aldi. Thats how I read it anyhow.

Well, cheers for the help Barside :)

I am currently looking for a brand new laptop that will allow me to load every single player in the whole database, on FM 2016. Which means that I want to have access to over 300,000+ players, when I am playing the game, plus I want my laptop running smoothly and without many delays.

I could possibly end up having to pay somebody to build one for me. If I do go down this route then I would definitely need advice on what are the best specifications for my laptop.

I will also be looking to use my laptop to create my own music. So, I will be using programs like FL Studio, Avid Pro Tools and/or Ableton Live. Plus I'll be using other programs like Photoshop and Auto-Tune.

So, is there anybody out there who can tell me what exact specifications I need my laptop to have - like which processor, how much RAM, what Hard Drive Size, CPU, etc). That will allow me to play FM 2016 with 300,000+ players loaded without a problem, with the laptop still running smoothly, easily & without huge delays, plus a laptop which will allow me to easily and smoothly run programs like FL Studio, Pro Tools and Auto-Tune, without any major problems??

The only game that I use my laptop for is FM, so I don't think I need a gaming laptop, or do I? Cause I really don't know what kind of laptop I require, which will allow me to do what I've listed above and to do it quickly. I am not an expert at all, so I do need big advice

I have a budget of £1,000-£1,5000 to spend on the new laptop.

Thank you all very much, I hope at least one of you can help me.

Cheers

Geggs.

What would the following desktop play like, and how much would you expect to pay for it

Intel i3 4170 cpu

asus intel motherboard

8gb ddr3 memory

1tb hard drive

120 gb ssd hard drive

nvidia gtx 750 2gb graphics card

windows 10 64bit

Well that depends - what do you want to get out of FM? 3D graphics important? Day to day fast progression? Fast load/saves?

It's not a bad price. The processor is a relatively newish (Q1 2015).

But what's your budget? Is £580 your budget or can you go more?

Hello,

I am looking for a laptop that will be able to run a large data base for FM 17. I run the game at 2D with 3D highlights. I am looking for a laptop that isn't too heavy as I would be carrying it around a lot as I am a student. The main use of the laptop will be for FM, Internet and Microsoft office applications such as Microsoft word. The screen size doesn't bother me too much yet I would preferably like a screen size of around 13-14 inches although it doesn't matter too much. My budget is quite flexible I would preferably like It to be around£600 yet if one better came up for more then I could be tempted.

Thanks

Hey i need a really really fast Laptop for Football Manager. Best would be one with a Desktop CPU Intel I7-6700k. Graphics are not so important for me. Perhaps you know some sellers where i can buy such a Laptop ? 2000 € would be ok.

Now i have a I7-4700HQ. What do you think is it a big difference from this CPU to the 6700k ?

Advice greatly appreciated! :)

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/s_action/compare/10146140-10146360.html

I'm looking at getting one of these.

I am currently running on this: http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-s50-b-15p/

With 10-15 leagues loaded it is starting to slow mainly when loading up games and screen to screen around game time. It's frustrating me. The PC is lightning quite otherwise.

The graphics are OK but FM rates the CPU capability at 1*.

Will the options I'm considering blow mine out of the water? My career is five seasons in, in L1 England... plan on going 20-30 seasons.

I want great graphics and good speed.

Thanks for any help

Laptops with desktop processors ... then you should primarily look at vendors that sell an assortment of Clevo builds. Depends on where you are in the world; in the UK, PCSpecialist.co.uk and MySN.co.uk (Schenker XMG) are the two main Clevo pushers.

I'm sorry for the extensive list, however as I am unsure as to what laptop to get, which of the following laptops would be better for FM?

Primarily I'm looking for medium-high graphics (if possible) on the 3D match engine. I will only load 4 countries with top division on each and large database.

A recommendation of the top 5 would be great:

Hmmm I'm loath to say really, I'm far from an expert! Thats why I post on here as I'm unsure myself.

I'm tempted by AMDs value but then from my own research online there appears to a bit of a stigma attached to them, I'm not sure if thats fully deserved though?

I'd wait for a more qualified recommendation from someone in the know.

Sorry couldnt be of more help :)

Hello. In case anyone is interested I've finally bought something.

Medion Erazer p6661

Normally its £699, then reduced to £619 but then with the code: ERAZER16 it then goes down to £569. Think thats quite a good deal on paper.

Unless of course it turns out to be a piece of junk. Guess I'll find out later this week.

Good deal that, translated some Dutch reviews on the Eraser's and they're highly rated, especially considering their value.

They don't seem to have any mid range offerings at the moment, perhaps they're lining up gtx 1050 and/or RX 460 offerings for October.

Where did you find that code by the way?

Hi, yeah I think I probably translated that same Dutch article before. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about it!

Mid range they did have Medion Akoya but then thats only £70 cheaper than the deal I got.

They seem to change their "Early Bird" deals fairly regularly too like once or twice already this week since I started looking on their page.

I signed up to their newsletter as that gave me a £10 discount code then today I got an email from them giving the £50 code for the Erazer series. (The £10 code couldn't be used with the £50).
