We're back, and hoping to put last seasons somewhat heartbreaking near miss behind us, after strengthening with the only two upgrades that were out there, really.

A top half finish is expected, with a shout at an Europa League spot, with the board wanting said Europa spot.

We get a player in the Dream Eleven.

Missing team in 20th is Bournemouth, fairly tricky CL group, but much easier one than we navigated last season. Final in Wales, if only.....

121f010cf2c5ce571f27b98cce0f7f58.png

We didn't bring in many players, but with Woodburn made the third biggest transfer in the Prem, and probably one of the biggest in Europe, which we're not part of, or whatever...

Selling Levitt was a hard decision, but the right one, John too, to a lesser degree. Morris sent out on loan just to get more football, he's fifth on the depth chart, and we have a better prospect in Rowlands.

Woodburn is a star for club and country, a massive signing. Adam Davies is mostly here to sit on the bench for emergencies, having two keepers injured again would be a real issue, especially with Thomas still out. Ben Davies, he was never the quickest, and will probably decline soon in pace, but he's an excellent player and the best full back in Wales. Thinking I may retrain him though, might get an extra few miles out of his as a Carrick-like DM, maybe?

Thomas is an English kid I convinced to make the switch years ago, but still had to wait until he was released by Man City for him to consider a transfer. Looked to have a lot of talent one time, but underdeveloped at Man City, I'm hopeful we can still scrape a decent backup out of him at least, and we're not great at DM in the youth ranks anyway(club or country), it's a pressing concern, really. Evans, well, a bit of a flier, 5.5m seems a bit expensive, but I reckon there's a good Mezzala in there to somewhere.

Chelsea are at home to a Southampton.
Man Utd are away to Liverpool.
We're away to West Ham.
None of our opponents have anything to play for.

So, we'll start with ourselves...

Chelsea choke! 32 shots, 16 on target...

All down to the game at Anfield...

Barney, who they signed at the start of the season(65m from Southampton) goes into Man Utd folklore.

We'll be back next season though much stron...... exactly the same strength as we were this season...

wow. Didn't Griffiths play like every tier from conference to EPL?

Even more, he began with us below the Conference!

Also of note, in the Premiership season, while he only played one game, he also played a cup game and three Europa games, scoring twice in Europe.

Interesting seeing Vitoria Setubal (hope that's the right name Noikeee) in the CL.

I was surprised too, so had a look. They were taken over by a tycoon in 2019, and have spent 30-45m a season on incoming transfers.

They have a few really good players and have been runners up in Liga NOS twice, winning it in 22/23.

Just missing the accents: Vitória de Setúbal :)

How their fans wish this would be true... they are a historic club with severe money issues, every year it's a struggle to survive in the first division and pay their wages, but they can always pull it off. It's one of those clubs everybody likes.

Interesting stuff! I don't know too much about Portugese football to be honest, but kind of like Braga and Real(Massima?) because of saves on FM.

Here's a bit of a closer look at them.

Elton is amazing, a steal at 10m, Gonzalez joined them at 18 for 5m, and has been brilliant for them season after season, Maya joined, again at 18, for a ludicrous 525k.

My scouts don't especially rate their highest prospect, but he looks a fine fullback to me, cost them 3.9m just this season.

Your scouts must be drunk, that Argentinian full back is quality. Decent crosser & defender, good athlete and mentals. What more do they want from a full back? You should absolutely nick him from Portugal if you weren't doing an all-Welsh save.

FM is advanced, they realized boxtobox only signed Welsh players, so the scouts adapted and now they don't rate any player that is not Welsh. Very advanced, this FM 18

Halfway through another season, and everything seems rosy, despite a fairly serious injury to left back Iwan Evans, probably would have been first choice by now had he not missed the last three months.

Surprisingly comfortable CL group, in the end, sadly Setubal weren't too good. Given a real test in Milan, the 2nd best team in Italy, and recent league winners.

Missing team is Huddersfield.

As for Wales, the WOrld Cup qualifying proved to be quite routine, with the only real challenge being Portugal, a home win and away draw were excellent results. Scotland were better than expected though.

Tough group, Mexico are a very good side(far better than their world ranking suggests) and Nigeria are handy too.

EDIT: Board upped my transfer budget from 60 to 90m, but there's no one to buy, unless I chance the odd random kid who might be ok, for the U-23's.

Very good progress here. Given you have a 9 point lead at the halfway mark, I think it's fair to say that this is definitely your year.

We have a strong shot at it, that's for sure!

The big surprise is Spurs, they're not a good side....

Bit of a horror World Cup Draw but you should pull through, the board wouldn't have set expectations just yet right?

Currently says they want to make the 2nd round. Difficult, but possible. All come down to how well we stack up to Mexico.

To be honest, I thought they'd have higher expectations though, as we're 10th in the world. That's mostly due to playing a lot of games against average teams. 19 wins, 1 draw in 20 played.

January was fairly quiet, we brought in two, set up a third, and sold one, no big deals or anything.

87242dbe8eaa039a547de3731733dcb1.pngecb5a0e1b6ec3f2663dec5a8a422cb4f.pngb28e906ce5cb1a6ed5d782944035f2b5.png

500k(+loan back) for Humphreys, 60k for Harvey-Davies, seem worth a punt if they turn into some kind of usable backup 1.2m(up to 1.5m) future deal is a bit of a reach for Jenkins-Kendall, but right back is a problem area long term, and at the time of the deal was potentially 4*, so could be a decent player.

Patten was whining about game time(14 games in half a season is good for someone signed on as a bench warmer....), so he was dropped from the club, chucked out of the Wales setup, and sold to Leicester for 5.75m.

Ha, great stuff about Setúbal! @kingjericho is absolutely right, it's one of those clubs that everybody likes, historical club, well followed, struggles every year but somehow manages to always survive.

Merthyr Town aren't doing too badly neither. ;)  I agree with @Fer Fuchs Ake, this is looking like your year.

I'll have to remember them next time I fancy playing in Portugal.

Cheers! We're certainly putting on our best showing in the Premiership so far.

Youth Intake Day!

Back with a long overdue update, as I've been busy grinding my way through Pokemon Omega Ruby, along with a bit of real life work(ugh).
Anyway, on to the point, and we'll check out the next batch of recruits!

ac1518f7dd738fad37b7398fef271269.pngcf229d9c6a2840538f9b0eb798e0a71f.png

One real standout lad, the one Speakman recommends. A DM too, a position we've got concerns at...

Keeping a handful of them that look potentially useful/interesting, as the U-18's is fairly scarce in numbers.

55278f912408aaeaea5d9878e80449b3.png

Lad's a bit of a diamond in the rough, quick and quite impressive physically, but needs lots of work in his defending skills.

Still, good chance of having a long career here as a DM, or maybe even a ball winning CM.

If you use BWM then that seems to be the best role for him. He doesn't have high concentration, which can be important in a classic DM. Also, his teamwork and workrate attributes need a lot of work. For my defensive mids I always like them to have these two attributes in the highest ranges (16+).

Aye, hopefully they'll boost up a fair bit.

No matter which role, he definitely needs lots of work, that's for sure. Anchor could be good as you want them to sit pretty solidly and not get involved.

1 hour ago, oneronaldo said:

Or you could turn the lad into a full back, although 6 Concentration is very worrying while 5 Crossing would make him a liability of sorts going forward.

That's another thing I was thinking of, off the ball is terrible too, though.

Box multiplication, the opposite of dividing by zero.
