edgar555
Deflected own goal could be off target, perfectly feasible.
Roy Race 9
no not before:) was it an own goal???
Tomer
I've recently won a match 3-2 with just 2 shots on target for me.

Suggy33
Must have had a deflection.
Graham FM
Must have had a deflection. could have been just looked again in slow mo and still not fully clear looks like it might have hit the keeper but that would have surely been an own goal
RandomManager
Didn't Middlesbrough have 1 shot in the whole match once while Arsenal had 25 and Middlesbrough won 1-0.
Graham FM
Didn't Middlesbrough have 1 shot in the whole match once while Arsenal had 25 and Middlesbrough won 1-0. maybe i don't know its not the fact of so many shots etc just in order to score it should equal to a shot on target
Cougar2010
I would say its either: A) Classed as off target and deflected in. B) Classed as blocked but gone in. C) Not classed as a shot - Did it just hit him? or was he trying to pass it?
Graham FM
I would say its either:A) Classed as off target and deflected in. B) Classed as blocked but gone in. C) Not classed as a shot - Did it just hit him? or was he trying to pass it? A) if it was this and the striker shot off target and clipped the keeper and went in surley own goal right?? but in saying that the shot was on target by there player B) maybe but there was no one in front of the player shoting and goalkeeper (which might have hit not sure tho) and the goal C) no the player looked like he was volleying it in goal not trying to pass it or anything thanks for your help on this tho
AjaxNo1
It does happen in real life, Im an Arsenal fan and we have lost a few games where teams have scored more goals than had shots on target, like it says above there are numerous reasons why it wont of been counted as a shot but I would put it down to a freak result and not worry about it
Chalky1989
Didn't Middlesbrough have 1 shot in the whole match once while Arsenal had 25 and Middlesbrough won 1-0. I seem to remember West Ham having a similar result a few seasons ago against Arsenal. Arsenal had close to 30 shots, while West Ham had one, and scored it. TheRealMagpies
It could have been a fluke something in the commentary like 'looks like he didnt mean that' might have been mentioned (if you rewatch the highlights it's something you can check for on any of the options) hate it when these happen against me .... so frustrating

phnompenhandy
Given that you often get more goals than clear cut chances, I'd speculate that SoT doesn't include the goals scored.
DirtyACE
Hmm... A Tom Henning Øvrebø refereed match perhaps?
FrazT
Last year in FM 09, I lost a League Cup final 1-0 after extra time and the opposition did not have one attempt on goal, far less on target after scoring with a penalty ( which apparantly didnt count as an attempt ). To be fair, it was a dire game and I only had about 5-6 attempts:(
brigandinho
Would be nice to know how the stats are really calculated. If a CCC doesn't have to be on target it's no wonder there are lots of them...
Sidnv
I always thought shots on target excluded goals.
alimac
The stats aren't always correct. I've just played a game and my striker had a shot straight at the keeper who saved it. Clicked on the match stats and it said I'd had 0 shots on target!
SouthgatesRedWhiteArmy
It happens..... Ive had countless shots at teams, and sometimes, ive had 20-30 shots at them with say 15-20 on target, and they've had one shot, and gone in, either by a flukey deflection, or a cross/shot
IanZG
Neville didn't shoot against Croatia... But he scored
JonnyGabriel
If something goes in off the woodwork, is that a goal without it being on target?
joe__the__man
Sometimes it doesn't pick up when shots actually happen. I have match stats up when I'm watching the game, and when there's a clear shot, on goal or otherwise, it sometimes doesn't register it. That's probably what happened. Either that the 'volley' was meant as a pull back or something...
llama3
if it was already going in it wont be counted as an own goal, but still blocked maybe
Smurf
All it has to do is bounce off a player Scholes Vs Ac Milan - his goal was not a shot on target, it bounced off his standing leg.
llama3
frank lampard's majority of goals are off-target deflections (before any of you lot take this too seriously, he does get some deflections, but he also gets goals on target of his own accord too, this is simple humour. i have to explain this otherwise there is the good chance some of you will take it far more seriously than it needs to be)
