5 seasons in and I finally manage to win the Icelandic Premier League earlier than the final day.

Season One: A late penalty save secures us a draw at our cross town rivals, Briedabilk, and secures the title from them as well.

Season Two: Valur bottle the final day and we beat cross town rivals 3-0 to seal the title, this time at home.

Season Three: Pressure once again gets to Valur and they drop 7 of 12 points in the last four games to allow me to take the league, though it was only mathematical on the final day this time.

Season Four: Vikingur Reykjavik push us to final day mathematical chance after we ship 4 draws in 8 games in the run home but we hold our nerve.

Season Five: Finally cruse the league winning by 14 points.

Ugh, I'm at the point where Mid-Tier European clubs are pillaging me for cheap transfers. I've had to sell my first choice goalkeeper in three consecutive transfer windows. The last one I was hoping to keep for a few more years as the only youth product worth wile to come out of my academy so I was hoping to develop a home grown player for Europe, but no OM come along, offer chump change that I'm not needing and unsettle him. Now he's going to go off to France and be the 2nd choice keeper for the OM2 side and disappear.

Also, why do I need to confirm my champions league registration after every qualifying leg, surely after each stage is enough.

Absolutely gutted to lose him but every player got their own price :( He wanted to leave for PSG ffs. So managed to squeeze alot out of them :D  My previous DOF, Tomas Rosicky, found him but felt bad to get rid of him to bring in Longoria /o\

Due to the oddities of Icelandic season resets happening before the 5th game in group stage of European competitions plus the fun Icelandic upper league cup, My Lead Striker currently has 19 competitive goals before the league season kicks off. 11 from 4 in Europa Cup and 8 from 7 in domestic cups. If he doesn't beat the record for most competitive goals in a season he either broke his leg or was poached by someone. He might have had a chance for more Europa League goals if we didn't lose 8-1 (10-3 on agg) to Europa Cup Specialists Sevilla.

After two painful draws against Inter where they only scored from dead ball situations in stoppage time to level. I'm now rather annoyed I lost to Lille as I pegged them as the team I'd steal points off. 4 games in and the table reads

Bayern 5

Lille 5

HK 5

Inter 4

Its been a while, a fair few months of no FM at all but I've decided to have another crack but this time in France with National side FC Bastia-Borgo, a new club formed by the merger of CA Bastia and Borgo FC on the island of Corsica.

I've just completed my first season and achieved an unexpected promotion finishing 2nd behind US Orleans and above the likes of Le Mans and Chateauroux. Furthermore this was without making a signing as I wanted to focus more on the youth coming through at the club. This promotion may have hampered my thought process slightly as I will need to sign players to improve the squad.

20 year old Gauthier Raoul top scored with 15 goals as a lone striker whilst left inside forward Mons Bassouamina scored 13 and on the opposite wing Cropanese made 17 goal contributions. Make shift right back Cheick Doumbia made 10 assists despite being a central midfielder.

Despite being in the negative the board have given me £1.7m to improve the squad which I won't be using as I don't want to bankrupt the club in the process of trying to stay up. They've also double the wage budget from £9k per week to £17k p/w.

We've reached the half way point of our 2nd season with the club in 7th place in Ligue 2 BKT, which is quite astonishing. I signed just 3 players in a bid to keep the finances under wraps inlcuding Moroccan U20 international Fouad El Maach from Monaco 2 for £30k. We beaten the likes of Nancy (home and away), Sochaux, SC Bastia and Metz. We beat Ytrac Foot comfortably in the 8th Round of the French Cup and drew Lyon in the 9th Round which we lost 4-1. Inside forward Mons Bassouamina is heading the scoring charts with 16 goals whilst striker Raoul has 12.

Finances have improved drastically, largely thanks to the income from the TV deal, we currently have just over £2m in the bank. At the start of the season the board announced plans for a new 8420 capacity stadium which will be ready in June 2022 and I've also managed to get two junior coaching upgrades in too. I've also been given a new 3 year contract.

We're still semi-professional but I expect that to change at the end of the season.

This is my current favourite signing. Signed from Serie C\C side Monopoli for £575K I'll never get that money back in transfer fees because I'm playing in Iceland and I can't even put in release clauses for half that value, not that I want to sell. Plus, he's made me 10 times that in prize money from European competitions.

He currently has 175 goals in 185 games across all competition and 80 goals in 81 league appearances. He'll break the 100 league\200overall goal mark this season baring injury. He was the Europa League Golden Boot in 2026\27 with 14 goals in 8 games, all group stage and later goals as we lost in the final qualifying leg of the champions league to drop into the Europa League.

Olivier Mallet. Released from his Belgian Pro League B side, RFC Searing, at the end of the 24\25 season and signed for a little Icelandic club, HK, managed by yours truely. (I'm torn between saying his name as either Mallet as in a wooden hammer, or to rhyme with Ballet.)

Anyway, Starting to work his way into a regular first team role, 58 club appearances 34 goal and 21 assists later. FC Kobenhavn snatch him away for £88k (I can't get respectable amounts for my players). I manage to weasel a loan back clause and he plays next season for me and racks up 33 appearances, 29 goals and 7 assists. I extend the loan and FC Kobenhavn forget to add a can't play against parent club clause, big mistake. My first time getting into the Champions League Knockout rounds and first up I draw... FC Kobenhavn! Olivier Mallet Scores a hat-trick in the first leg and a 4th goal in the second leg in a 5-4 aggregate win.

Anyway the TL;DR version of this is, 5 years ago Olivier was released by a second division Belgian club, 4 years later he's a Champions League Golden Boot Winner at the age of 20.

spacer.png

It doesn't count qualifying round goals but it does count those stage appearances?

Also, that's My goalkeeper at 2

@john1

He's not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination and he still has a little improving he can do. I'm not playing him as a lone striker so that he's fed all my goal scoring opportunities and he's not fed dead ball situations either to pad those numbers. He just seems to work. He's been brutal in CL qualifying this season scoring 15 in 6 games so far. I've also just noticed he hasn't been called up for Belgium at any level so they must have some brutal strikers coming through.

Olivier Mallet, if Qualifying rounds of the champions league counted to the Golden boot, he'd have managed to score the golden boot in both Champions league and Europa League in the one season.

Oliver Mallet: The Mauler of Maccabi Tel-Aviv (7 goals in a 14-0 agg win), the Zapper of Zalgaris (4 goals in a 7-1 agg win), The Slayer of Shamrock Rovers (4 goals in a 10-3 agg win). Unfortunately after scoring a brace in a 3-2 loss against Sevilla in the first game of the group stage, Mallet went MIA until we bundled into the Europa League knock out rounds.

spacer.png

In the knockout rounds of Europa Leagues he returned as the Celtic Killer (6 goals in a 10-3 agg win) and the Wolf of Wolfsburg (2 in a 4-3 agg win). He scored 1 against Bayer Leverkusen in our 3-1 agg win and both goals in our semi final 2-6 agg loss to Hertha Berlin.

Interestingly enough, he still managed to be the Number 2 forward in the Champions League forward of the season.

In other news, Francesco Annicchiarico has taken up Icelandic citizenship this season and already scored his first goal. Olivier Mallet is not far away from Icelandic citizenship and having seen the absolute monsters Belgium have in the striker department that are also his age, I'm betting Mallet will take up Icelandic citizenship and form a strike partnership with Annicchiarico at international level too.

Maybe he'd have gone to OB. :D

I'm disappointed game. Annicchiarico scores his 100th league goal and 200th over all goal for the club and I get no inbox notification of the achievement? No press conference comment? You used to notify me every 25 goals. Now all I got was a brief mention in the commentary ribbon that I almost missed because I was trying to make tactical changes.

So I just finished my FM2018 savegame (though I might continue playing that).

I was raised on a inland boat, and sailed (?) the rivers of western Europe, where my parents deliverd their cargo. As such, I saw many rivers and canals in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. Nowadays, you could travel from the North Sea port of Rotterdam (in The Netherlands) to the Black Sea port of Constanta (Romania). Though I never sailed the Donau (Danube), I was always intrigued by the idea to go from the Eastern part of Europe to the Western part of Europe, by boat. Thus, when I started this save on FM, I set myself a challenge: become champions and cup winners in each of the 9 nations between those two ports. (I skipped Moldavia and Ukraine as they lay not on this route).

I loaded some files from Sortitoutsi, to change some names and update a lot of transfers and I loaded a lot of Timo's nations and cups, to spice up my game.

My setup was as follows: every league of the following 9 nations: Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and The Netherlands, so I could travel alongside the river shores of the Donau (Danube), Main and Rhine from Black Sea to North Sea. As I had to play in nations with minor competions, I allowed myself to use genie scout and I used a skin with instant result. Though I mostly used instant result, I didn't do this in the important cup matches or in the 2nd phase (after the group stages) of the European tournaments, thus still getting a connection with my team in the process.  I used a 5-2-3 tactic from Knap and 95% of my new signings are 21 or younger. Most of the time more than 80% of my team was 25 years or younger and I stayed on this course to buy young ones, let them play a lot and sell them in their prime. This might not be to the taste of everyone, but it suited my needs and wishes, so I was happy with it.

My first stop was Farul Constanta, a small club from Constanta at the Black Sea coast. It was not before 2022 that I won my first cup and a year later we won the league title too. First part of the challenge was finished and I could look out for a job in a Donau city located in Bulgaria. However, the managers there wouldn't sack or leave, and when they did, I missed it, so I had to continue my time in Romania. After 17 league titles in a row and a Champions League title along the way, I finally was able to move to Dunav (meaning Donau/Danube) in the city of Ruse. It took my until 2042 to get my boys to win the Bulgarian title and until 2044 to win the Bulgarian cup with Dunav. After Dunav, I went to IMT in Beograd. The Industry Machines and Traktor factory workers club of the city. It was not easy to beat Partizan and Red Star and all the other bigger and better teams in Serbia, but we finally managed to win the league title in 2060 and the national cup in 2061. The 3rd nation of my journey was now finished and this meant I also finished a third of my challenge. Now I had to find a job in Croatia. That wasn't easy. Croatia had not many big cities along the Danube and the small towns that were there, were not always represented in the FM database. I finally found a job at BSK Bijelo Brdo, in a village far away in Croatia. Here, my first title, meant also my first double prize, as we won both the cup and the title in 2073. We were now so far in this save that Eastern Europe was now a force to be reckoned in Europe. At the start of your save, you might have one or 2 teams from Scandinavia or Eastern Europe in your Champions League and Europa League groups, but now 40 or even 50 percent of the teams competing in the main stage, were from the East. Really nice to see that my hard work paid of. Not only for my teams, but for the competions as well.

After Croatia I went to Slovakia and became the manager of Inter Bratislava. In 2074 we won the cup and a year later, in 2075 we won the title too. Now, for the first time in my save I could look to teams that where already good or even great, as I went on to became the manager of Ferencvaros in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. We had some finances to spend and I was able to buy a lot of new players with great potential, right away. Our first prize came again the form of winning the double, as in 2073 we won the league and the cup. Meanwhile Austria became a force of nature in my save, without me doing anything. The best clubs came from Vienna, Salzburg and Mattersburg, but I signed with LASK (from Linz). IN 2087 we won the Austrian title and 2 years later, in 2089 we won the cup. We also won 2 Champions Leagues in a row and became the best team in the world. With only 2 nations to go, i finally was able to go to my strongest nation: Germany. They'd won multiple Champions Leagues with Bayern, Leverkusen and Wolfsburg. I signed a contract with FC Köln and tried to be better than those world beating clubs. In 2094 we won the league and in 2095 the cup too. I was now at 8/9 of my challenge and had only one nation to go: The Netherlands. I hoped for Feyenoord, but they had a good manager, so I looked further and Excelsior (also from Rotterdam) offered me their manager job. Vitesse was the main team of Holland. Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV only won a few titles in the last 30 years and Utrecht surpassed them. Vitesse won 14 titles in a row, before I finally changed a lot of 2nd placed for Excelsior's first cup title in 2102 and first league title 2104.

After 31758 in game days I finished my challenge, becoming league winner and cup winner in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and The Netherland. I won the CL with Farul from Romania and 2 times with LASK form Austria; was 8 times national manager (USA, England, Italy, Spain, Brazil (2 times), Nigeria and France) and won 4 World Cups. My players won the European Golden Boy, the European Golden Shoe and lots of other titles and most of all, I had great fun doing this. I started this save on 14 february 2019 and I finished it on 21 september 2021, winning 46 league titles (all levels), 78 cups, 9 promotions and 1 relegation. When I think about my "career" playing FM games I always think about my first try at FM in the 90's where me and my brother trained Barcelona and Real Madrid and had months of fun. Almost 30 years later in real life, I now have a new favorite save. ❤😊

I started with Dortmund. Bought Zakaria and Papetti. I tried A LOT tactic-wise, changing constantly, not knowing what I wanted.

Results were ok overall, nothing to complain too much about. End of november, finally found a formula I liked, and since we've been on a roll: a draw (first game with new tactic) and then 5 wins, including 2-1 over Bayern and 3-0 over Milan away.

Now I'm at winter break, Hummels (shockingly bad) and Wolf will leave, Sule will join. We have a solid defense, attack could be better. I'll try to change Haaland's role, and Reus' too (they play both up top in a 3-3-2-2). I struggle with fatigue and injuries, so now I'll take care of training myself. And hoepfully everything will stay good.

3rd in the league (Bayern and Laipzig are dominant). In CL we had a tough group with Chelsea, AC Milan and Besiktas. We finished 3rd, on level with Chelsea, with a better goal difference than them (+5 on them!) but they beat us 1-0 (and then 3-3) so they are ahead...  Until the 80th minute of last game, we were 2nd, but Chelsea scored to win over Besiktas. So maybe a strong Europa League run? We'll face Lokomotic Moscow.

Finished 1st season with Dortmund. I finished with the tactic I found to be good. Finished 2nd. in Europa League, after winning 2-0 against Napoli, we lost 2nd leg 3-0 in quarter final... Got eliminated from cup by 2nd division team...

An ok season given the 2nd place. But there's room for improvement. For which Ginter and Kessie joined for free at the end of their contract. Netz and Grimaldo reinforce the left side as Guerreiro leaves (didn't want to signa new deal, which was expiring next season). Akanji leaves for the same reason as Guerreiro, so Chris Richards is loaned by Bayern (with option). Calegari joins for the right side, Manu Koné comes for depth in midfield and Lorenzo Lucca is loaned with an option for depth in attack.

How it looks

Start of the season is ok, 2 losses in a row which is disappointing but overall doing good. Already out of the cup, second round vs a 2nd division team. Unacceptable. In CL, as usual for me, toughest group of all.

Save idea that I always had was starting a save with a team from Russia and Ukraine and only signing players from countries that were former soviet republics and seeing if I can win a European title, with the exception of Russia, Ukraine, and a few Georgian players the talent pool is pretty scarce so I decided to expand it to players from countries that were part of the Soviet Union "Eastern Bloc" excluding Yugoslavia and the nations that came from there...So I decided to do Dinamo Moscow in Russia, and I have limited myself to only sign players from nations that were former "Soviet Republics" or part of the Eastern Bloc (Albania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia), I contemplated a "East Euro only" save but with the amount of talent from the countries that were part of Yugoslavia I figured it wouldn't have been that challenging

stay tuned to see how my save goes

Decided to have a break from Kazakhstan and plumped for King's Lynn in the National League, as they're my home town team.

You start with little money but a full squad and some room in the wage budget. I signed another GK and LW to add further depth to the team. We lined up originally as a 4-4-2 but its adapted to be a 4-3-3 of sorts. We play an AF with a IF on the left wing and a SS in behind. Two central mids with a wide right midfielder. And its worked quite well, achieving 12th place with 62 points from our 44 games.

On loan Malachi Linton top scoring with 26 which was enough for 3rd highest in the league. His support in attack was Josh Barrett who scored 13 and made 10 assists from inside forward on the left and another on loan player in Joe Rowley scored 10 and made nine assists from Shadow Striker. Beyond that it was pretty rubbish.

I've already made three signings for next season, Renaldo Torraj and Jezreel Davies join from Tottenham U18's whilst Harvey Godsmark-Ford joins from Leicester U18s having all been selected for release by their clubs. Looking at the squad we need a new GK, LB, RM, CM x 2 and at least ST x 2 just to stand still.

I am upset and life is unfair.

I'm Everton by the way.

evertonfinal.thumb.png.2bfb20b55724cea4a619576cbcef4b23.png

So, I'm doing rather well in my first season at Everton (1st window disabled) and managed to get to the final. Got Manchester United. They go ahead with a penalty, believe it or not, the game is fairly even in terms of chances (never mind that xG it's lying). Doucoure just came back from a broken ankle, I threw him on literally in like the 85th minute and he goes and nets the equaliser, super sub. Was hoping to get to penalties, and of course, they score. Pft.

Almost done with the first season, probably not going to steal a Champions League place because my fixture run in is basically Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Excuse my awful imaging editing, I'm lazy. Which is why my life is sad and I am upset, just like my FM persona.

(I just noticed I've got better GD than City, suck on that Pep!)

Had to do some actual work at work so only three games into the 2nd season.

The squad was crap and I let everyone who's contract was expiring leave except about four players. In came six free transfers including Tim Akinola from Arsenal and Elijah Dixon-Bonner from Liverpool on frees. I also loaned four more players from Birmingham, Torquay, Rochdale and QPR. We're still light in areas but the season started.

Three wins from three, beating Boreham Wood (4-0), Barnet (1-0) and Eastleigh (1-0) which see's us top of the table on GD.
