Do You Deserve a Place in the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition?

We’re helping the good people at Guinness World Records search for the person who's enjoyed the longest career in Football Manager. So far, we’ve found a man who's managed Hemel Hempstead for a massive 34 seasons but we think there must be more seasoned managers out there.

If you've enjoyed an even longer career or if you know someone who has (in any version of Football Manager) can you reply to this thread and let us know?

We will probably have to do some investigation into any responses we get, just to check that people haven’t ‘holidayed’ through years and Guinness World Records will consider the evidence and verify.

We think that a number of you will have played legitimately for many seasons and one should be recognised for being the most enduring.

Ultimately the person we find with the longest verified career will end up holding an official world record and could feature in the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2017.

The next edition of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2016 is out on September 10.

I've had a real-time save going for five years, but obviously that only encompasses six actual seasons (16,040 hours, according to Steam).

yep i remember having the game open from early in morning on day 1 and didnt close laptop etc until end day 2 even though i played for about 1 hour steam registered my open time as playing time

I'd say generally we're looking more at in-game time as opposed to 'real life' time, albeit we're happy to hear as many as possible. Obviously the less holidaying you've done in game the better. Please keep the submissions coming!

I have a save going in FM13 where I'm currently in my 33rd season with SønderjyskE in the Danish league. So not quite a record yet, but I do plan on keeping it going. No holidaying done whatsoever.

This is my longest career, 2107 as manager of a succession of clubs in Wales.

My next longest game went until 2088 at just the one club.

Surely my 40+ seasons running all leagues with every competition in full detail is worth just as much as a 100+ season save with a single active nation? Shame on those Guinness World record folk.

Edit: Thought this would be buried away somewhere, 100-Seasons-(Go-on-then-just-one-more-season-)

Clearly not a record given the above (and would expect quite a large number of people have done more), but I'm now in to my 54th season as lifelong Plymouth Argyle manager on FM12 with not a day of holiday. I rather miss the CM2 functionality that stopped after about 30 years!

I reached the year 2099 on FM14. I stayed at Shrewsbury Town the whole time to build a footballing empire. There was no holidaying or anything. Just a very long and committed save.

Fair play to Dafuge for reaching 2107.

Hello !

I'm still playing on my FM 12 save, started it 3.5 year ago, currently in the year 2113. I started at Old Mancunians AFC, then Carl Zeiss Jena, Derry City, San Marino, Berwick Rangers, Karpaty Lviv and now Blyth Spartans. Made a story of it on a French FM forum (http://www.footmanager.net/forum/ukrainian-power-fin-de-saison-80-t33349.html, currently season 80, but no time to continue it at the moment).

Stopping is not an option for me :thup:

Still playing my FM 2007 game with Partizan Beograd, currently at the start of 2120/21 season. Have been playing this save for 6 years in real life, started in 2009. My average yearly record is 20-25 seasons, but in the last year or so I have only managed to do 10.

I have been posting my career in a Serbian forum (which I discovered only in 2010 (2036/37 in FM, so the first 30 seasons were more or less smaller reports) and in another English forum (I didn't made my own thread since there there is a general FM 2007 thread so we put individual season reports).

Due to the technical and other reasons, the profile I am using now, is different from the one I started. I started with my real name and surname in 2006. 4 years ago in real life (during 2052/53 season in FM) I changed computer and from that time my Hall of fame stopped updating. I realised I forgot to copy some hidden file from there. I continued anyway to the 2096 and then (due to the Hall of fame stuff, but also due to reality) I retired it and made a new profile-the one of my former left back regen. And continued. At the end of last year (end of 2110/11 season in FM) my hard disk crashed, luckily I had my save on USB, so to not repeat the mistake from last time, I created a new profile and continued the save with the same club.

I only went on holiday for 1 day-if there was a specific match I wasn't bothered to manage, like some friendly or a Cup clash against a minnow.

One thing to mention is also, that I was also sacked in 2074/75 season due to several punishments to players. After creating a new profile and trying it for 1-2 seasons, I returned (loaded) to the save (point) I was sacked, and re-applied for the job to continue with my (at that time) original profile (at that time playing like someone else did not suit me). It did work for the 2nd time (=I got the job back), so I was back at the helm-like I said until 2096 when my 120 year old personality retired to give place to the younger.

Honestly thought id have the most, seems not. Currently in the year 2142 after being at numerous different clubs and 2 laptops. About 4-5% spent on holiday at the start when my laptop was too **** to properly play games.

I got to 109 years in FM06, but my save game encountered a memory leak. Second time it happened, the previous game was about 92 years I think. I just wish it could somehow be fixed, I would play on, no question.

I can't compete with the likes of dafuge with regards to longevity, however I am quietly confidant that my GK's have scored more goals than anyone else playing FM.

128 with Lúcio for San Marino in Fm2014, (and still going if I can ever return to the save).

111 with McIlmurray for Mosside (NIR).

49 with Tandy for Red Imps (GBR)

Dammit, I am being punished for watching most of my games in full. I have put in 1200 hours into my current save, and I am only 7 seasons in. I like taking my time and can spend hours pondering a signing. It is funny because I have only been playing FM15 for a couple of months.

I used to play Championship Manager (00/01) a lot. Not sure if this counts as it was the predecessor to Football Manager. I played 437 seasons but started to encounter difficulties because my bank account balance got so huge that the game couldn't cope, and I was then unable to buy players. I saved the game after almost every season so have plenty of evidence. I'd still be playing it now but for the technical issues. I don't think I 'holidayed' at all.

The year of birth kept changing to keep me at a reasonable age (on older versions you just stopped ageing at 100). You can see here I was born in 2026, 12 years after starting my first job

I think I should be mentioned in there under special conditions. I have played 1100 hours of FM and I have done so through chemo, pain, depression, anxiety and PTSD. I still fight every day and it it weren't for FM and also my Skyrim Modding (a different game), I would not be alive today.

FM 09 (by far the best of all football managers) Man United fan managing Manchester City and I've been there for 85 years and still going strong! Won titles and champions League galore and also managed England to World Cup success. Never left City but have overseen Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool all drop into the Championship!

Hope something on my save game is worth a mention record wise (it is still being used to this day!)

Championship Manager 2000/01 I went through 58 seasons as Liverpool manager on the world's slowest computer. By the end it was taking an hour to load the game, and an hour & a half to save the game!

Actually.. Not a record save but I did something similar as you..

In cm 99/00 I started a Barca save having a 16 year old José Manuel Reina taking all my penalties!!

After over 20 seasons and over 700 matches played he resigned with around 250 goals (in the first league only)!!

Thought it was a fun challenge since in this version you could see goals, assist etc for goalkeepers in the history tab, just as you could with outfield players.

Believe he ended up as most goalscorer in Barca history, as a goalkeeper! Remember his best season he scored 19 goals. Of course some he didn't reach 10 but he was very consistent overall..!

Edit: Now Messi holds the record but 250 ish was the best before his time..

This is probably one of my longest and most enjoyed saves!
