Really enjoying precious journalists complaining about Southgate's comments. "It's not our job to help the team, it's our job to report the news!" yeah but it's not your job to sneakily take pictures showing potential line ups you absolute gimps.

Danny Murphy ripping into journos on the BBC. The presenter looked pretty uncomfortable when Murphy said that the players are only hanging out with the press and being nice because they've been told to, they know they're going to get hammered by them as soon as they have a bad game.

The press in this country are vile. They're secretly hoping we fail so they can print their agenda.

Probably got their headlines written out already.

Yeah, can see them turning now Southgate has called them out on their ********. The amount of journos tweeting righteous indignation, "how dare Southgate criticise us!" Absolute set of pricks, trying to defend it as though people have a right to know team news, as though it's public interest.

Just came across this tweet:

I mean, how ridiculous a comparison can you get? Although I agree with the point that Panama knowing who starts between Sterling/Rashford shouldn't make a difference, but it doesn't make it right to leak team news.

Sorry to buck the trend, but journalism is a business, the same as any other. What's new is news; revealing the teamsheet ahead of the announcement is news. Which is why it's getting so much attention. Whoever took that picture did his job. Everything else is just p***ing in the wind.

Or to put it another way, news is what someone doesn't want printed; everything else is just advertising.

Why is the teamsheet news? What is in the public interest about taking a sneaky shot of the teamsheet when it's clearly not meant to be revealed? It's a underhanded tactic just to try and get a few more clicks and is totally wrong. Public interest is completely different to something the public are interested in.

Revealing the teamsheet like that gives the opposition an advantage, there's no two ways about it. With it being Panama it won't make much difference but that doesn't mean it's remotely ok.

They're there to report news, good and bad, but leaking a teamsheet undermines the team and there's no justification for it, especially considering the good grace they've been shown by the FA and the team.

I’d put a blanket ban on every journalist from newspapers or publications that published them. The England setup have shown them trust and respect in letting them be there, now they’ve taken the **** and thrown that trust and respect back in their faces. “It’s only Panama” is a pathetic excuse, would they have all kept it quiet if it was Belgium or a knock-out match?

Gives a selection headache to Southgate now as does he change it or keep it as it was originally? Won’t help the players either as they’ll feel less comfortable in training knowing the press are against them now. I’d go as far as scapegoating the press if we don’t pick up the win now.

Everyone was reporting what the line up for the Tunisia line up was going to be beforehand and Southgate didn't feel the urge to make any changes, this is a complete non story. Pretty clever from Southgate though, bit of fake outrage and media bashing seems to have got the England fans really behind the team which is clearly the intention of this.

They could have easily just posted the team as a predicted lineup and then, happy days, they got it spot on. Instead they’ve chosen to publish the long lens photos of the actual team, taken the moral high ground and “leaked” it, as if they’re investigative journalists breaking a public interest story on the Panama Papers, not the England team to play Panama.

To turn it around, when you do that job it's about trust. I've done plenty of sports interviews when the camera has picked up information or words people didn't realise were being said. There's nothing to stop me using that, but you also understand you're in a privileged position. England have granted them more access than ever, more than they are obliged to. If that's the line the media want to take fine, England would be well in their rights to roll back the access to what the are obligated to and nothing more. It goes both ways.

Of course, no argument. And if that happens I expect there'll be much wailing from the media. But Sterling to play or not is one of the biggest stories in English football right now, so an indication from within the England camp that Sterling is not going to play is big news. Southgate undoubtedly wanted to manage that story and spin it in as positive a light as possible; that's his job. A journalist breaking that story ahead of the official announcement is just doing his/her job.

This job is about relationships and trust though. It's also how you do it. They could have done as CJ said, but they actually attacked Steve Holland, that's what has got England's backs up
