Thanks for all the positive comments everyone, and thanks to all for signing up. Everyone who's signed up so far has been assigned their PA (there's a nice spread from one extreme to the other, so it should be fun), and I'm working hard on getting everyone into the database. Hopefully I should have the whole thing up and running by tomorrow. Do bear in mind though that I'm in a different time zone - so it may be after a lot of people have gone to bed before it's all totally ready to go. So, maybe safer not to expect the first updates before Thursday. Rest assured that I'm working on it as fast as I can though!

I know this isn't set up to be an AI experiment, but here's a few questions I'm pondering that I thought it might be interesting to get everyone's take on - and to keep you all busy while I'm working on the database!

1. How will player personalities affect the way they live up to their potential? For instance, will a "bad boy" sabotage his own career by finding it difficult to settle at a club? Or, at the other end of the spectrum, will "faithful servants" with high PA (if there are any ) who start at a lower league club actually limit their own growth by remaining faithful to a club which is way below their own abilities, whose players cannot provide them with good service, and whose facilities will not enable them to reach their full potential? Which personality do we think is most likely to enable someone to fill their potential to the max?

2. How long do we think it will be before we start to get a good grasp of who's any good and who's, well... crap? Do we think that it will be a relatively quick process, or do we think that some players will surprise us several seasons in by suddenly revealing as yet unsuspected reserves of potential that have been dormant for years?

3. A lot of people have gone for pacey strikers while a slightly smaller number have gone for the more physical model. Which model do we think will pay off most overall? Which model do we think is most able to reach its potential? Given that low PA players won't ever actually reach 20 in the stats that were selected, and given that low PA players will probably end up in the lower leagues for their whole career, where a more physical, long-ball style game is often played, do we think that "pacey" low PA players or "strong" low PA players will prosper at that level?

It would be interesting to hear if anyone has any thoughts on this - or any other interesting questions to think about!

Robert_296, Tom =), coolmoose and leokwash - unless I've missed it somewhere in the thread (entirely possible), you guys have not mentioned a preference for your starting club/league. I am more than happy to randomly generate one for you (in fact, so far Robert_296 and Tom =) have been assigned Lugo in Spain and Baltika in Russia respectively), but just wanted to check if you had any preferences before it all gets set in stone.

GazTheDoood - I think you wanted your starting club to be Zenit St. Petersburg. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you are a Zenit fan), they are too good to be your starting club on this sign up. The reason I didn't want anyone starting at top division clubs is in case they are assigned a low PA - I didn't want to risk anyone being at a top side but having a low PA, having their contract terminated because they weren't good enough to play for that club, and then not being signed once they were unattached - and ending up retiring at 18. That doesn't make for a fun game for anyone! So, you can choose a club from the Russian First Division rather than the Russian Premier League, or any other club/league you want from the list in one of my opening posts, or I can randomly assign one to you if you like. As Zenit will be listed as your favourite club, you might well still end up there scoring goals in the Champions League later in your career if you are good enough! Sorry about that.

I created a squad of CA/PA 200 but threw in 2 'bad boy' idiots (following the 'Bandits' model). They were great players but forever hating their managers and wanting moves. Their attitude didn't overly affect their performances however.

The others had loyalty of 20, but when big bids from high-rep clubs came in, they were more than happy to go.

In some cases, possibly by the end of the first season. however, they will all be youngsters and might take some time to get first-team action (maybe never). All depends on the many variables such as training, transfers etc. Possibly those of us in higher league teams won't be able to muscle our way into the first-team squad.

I think they should both stand an equal chance. As a regular LLaMa myself, I can tell you that a nippy bugger can be very effective against pondorous defenders.
