  1. I've been using the 442 P05 with some success at Brackley in the Vanarama North. I lost the playoff final last season and in a good battle for the league title this season. We usually score plenty by my only issue is that the high line leaves my goalkeeper very exposed at times and we concede a lot more than I would like. This may be due to the level of players involved in this system, but it means we can hit a bit of a slump when not scoring as we are always exposed. Is there a tactic a bit more solid (deeper?) defensively without sacrificing too much when attacking? My record as manager so far; Played- 82 Won- 56 Drawn- 17 Lost- 9 Scored- 219 Conceded- 91
  2. I am liking this tactic so far, only one problem. Having accidentally sabotaged my career game (long story!) I am stuck with non-league football, where Complete Forwards seem to be a rarity. Any recommendations as to what role to change the lone striker to that would achieve a similar effect? My first game in charge at Lincoln I switched it to an advanced forward, worked well enough but didn't feel he was involved in the game well enough.
  3. It happens. I would suggest scouring the tactical & training sections of the forum for any new ideas and inspiration. Keep plugging away and find out what works for you. Sometimes a perfectly decent manager can go to a perfectly decent club and it is a disaster. There are so many variables in football, not just tactics, but morale, player quality, opposition quality, luck etc.etc. It's only failure if you give up!
  4. The same formation I have been using for the last few FM's, 4-1-3-2. The full backs are CWBs, BWM in front of the CBs, supportive Centre-Mids either side of an advanced playmaker, and the strikers are a False-9 and an Advanced forward. Control and very fluid, switch to Counter if i'm under pressure. Always seems to work a treat once the players get used to it.
  5. Not sure this guy is really built to play centre-back.
  6. After completing Dafuge's challenge a few times I fancy something a bit different, so will be giving this a go in Ireland. Holidaying now...
  7. Thanks! It's not about the destination, it's all about the journey!
  8. Gypsum's End of season update - King's Lynn - 2033/34 - Premier league Challenge completed!! League position:1st (Position chart) Media prediction: 2nd Man City's managerial changed proved to be the window of opportunity we needed to make a charge for the top. Even the resurgence on Man Utd couldn't stop us from breaking the 15 year Manc stranglehold on the league title. Champions league: Winners! Final: King's Lynn 1-0 Man City League cup: Winners! Final: King's Lynn 2-1 West Ham Squad Transfers Finances Star players; Todd Low - Best season yet, absolutely on fire in front of goal, breaking records all over the place. Dylan Coupe - One of my original big money signings, sensational again. Tristan Riviere - A £54m signing and worth every penny. Sensational in my full back dependent tactics. Emmanuel Leclerc - A real success story, despite being signed as just a backup. Has developed into an irreplaceable playmaker. File - Excellent in midfield, and out best set-piece taker. 9. Yeah, I always stay on. Quite fancy trying to build an entirely home-grown team.
  10. It went down to the final game and a 1 point lead, but... Challenge completed!!
  11. His call up is especially unlikely as he has two caps for Wales.
  12. Well, at least someone enjoyed it! I'm in North Cambs, Wisbech to be precise.
  13. Yeah! I put out a load of my youth players and we lost 1-0 to BSP Cambridge!
  14. Gypsum's End of season update - King's Lynn - 2032/33 - Premier league League position: 2nd (Position chart) Media prediction: 3rd Another strong season, but we couldn't get close to the mighty Man City. But with Klopp's retirement, and a new man in charge, hopefully they will show some vulnerabilities and allow me to complete the challenge! We also won the Club world championship, Community shield and the Super cup. Champions league: Winners! Final: King's Lynn 0-0 (5-3P) Man Utd For all Man City's dominance in the league, we absolutely smashed them in the semi-final first leg. The final was a much tighter affair, with our players not really hitting their stride. But ruthlessness from the spot won us our second straight Champions league title. The perfect send off for the retiring legends Dorey and Neil. League Cup: Winners! Final: Chelsea 0-6 King's Lynn Humiliated Chelsea at Wembley, though they are a shadow of their former selves post-Abramovich. Squad Transfers Finances Star players; Emmanuel Leclerc - Another stunning season from the man originally signed only as a backup squad member. Todd Low - Really hit his peak in the Champions league, winning the best player, top scorer and best goal awards. Tyler Jones - Our Welsh rock at the heart of the defence. Jermain Flemming - He continues to develop and impress, finished 3rd top scorer in the Premiership. 15. They've dipped to 11th after reaching the Euro 2023 semi-finals, but they're a decent side. Three of my back four were Welsh internationals. The Welsh league sides seem to be churning out good prospects.
  16. Barry George Bowen obviously doesn't have OCD. Yeah, and those two lost FA cup finals in recent years really added to the satisfaction!!
  17. Gypsum's End of season update - King's Lynn - 2031/32 - Premier league League position: 2nd (Position chart) Media prediction: 5th A valiant run ended without us able to make up the 2 point defect to Man City, last season's invincibles. But we are clearly gaining ground. Champions league: Winners! Final: Juventus 1-2 King's Lynn A sensational run which saw us hammer Barcelona and Bayern ended in imperious fashion. Even an equaliser from former Linnet Couto just before half time didn't halt our momentum, as we dominated in a 2-1 victory. FA Cup: Winners! Final: King's Lynn 3-0 Man Utd League cup: Winners! Final: King's Lynn 3-0 Tottenham Squad Transfers Finances Star players; Emmanuel Leclerc - MC - The surprise of the season. Signed on a free after a loan move from PSG to Norwich, he stepped in to the first team as an injury replacement and made the central playmaker role his own. Jermain Flemming - ST - The more technical foil to Low's sheer pace, Flemming had a breakout season, proving particularly effective in the domestic cup finals. Dylan Coupe - DL - Didn't impress last season after his £21m move from Fulham, but was excellent in this campaign. Todd Low - ST - Fast as f@*k and absoluetly tireless. Top scorer in the Champions league, and 2nd in the Premiership. File - MC - One of our few new signings, proved an excellent addition to our creative midfield trio. Tyler Jones - DC -Tragically missed the Champions league final, despite an excellent season. 18. Big season, challenge half-complete! Update to come later.
  19. Having a pretty mental season. Won the League cup, into the final of the FA Cup thanks to a penalty win from a last-minute equaliser! In the Champions league semi-finals after hammering Barcelona 5-1, and just a point behind Man City in the league title race, with a game in hand, thanks to this awesome comeback!
  20. Gypsum's End of season update - King's Lynn - 2030/31 - Premier league League position: 3rd (Position chart) Media prediction: 6th Champions league: Semi-final FA Cup: 6th round Squad Transfers Finances Star players; Hugo Tapia - The American playmaker was a consistent highlight for us. Tyler Jones - Fantastic in central defence for our Champions league campaign, won the European Golden boy award. Todd Low - Lightning pace made him a constant threat up-front. Finished the second highest scorer in the Premiership, and joint third in the Champions league. Legend watch; Ian Dorey - Career stats - Struggled this season, especially with the new players coming in. Growing unhappy in the reserves, though I recently gave him a new contract above and beyond what he asked for. Ryan Neil - Career stats - Performed well in a few cup appearances, but couldn't compete for a first team place amongst the new, young signings. Barry George Bowen - Career stats - Struggled at times this season with the step up to the Champions league, his previously formidable partnership with Tyler Jones may be coming to an end. 21. I am finding a lot of sliced/scuffed shots in uncontested positions. Haven't really looked into the stats.
  22. Of course, not experiencing a problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
  23. I'm finding that glitches seem to have considerably more effect on my results since the new patch. Illogical defensive clearances (ball going out for a goal kick headed back in to the danger zone) still haven't been fixed, passing directly to the opposition seems to be far more common now (for and against me). Finishing seems to be far more erratic, and generally less accurate. Deep crosses from open play or free kicks seem to cause even more problems for goalies than before and fly like guided missiles toward the crossbar. I like the improvements made to general midfield passing, but overall it's disappointing that the same old glitches don't get fixed, or get made worse.
