  1. After flying through the last 2 seasons, I have finally broken Dafuge's record of 10,782 games - now I can finally give this save up! Introducing Sutton United Overall Best XI - 2048 (FM11) First X1 appearances: 7,108 Sub appearances: 3,750 Total Best X1 appearances: 10,858
  2. I was ready to give up on my long term save from FM11 (currently in 2046), but I am only 210 games from breaking Dafuge's record, so I'm going to play on for another season or 2 just to see if I can break it Sutton United Overall Best XI - 2046 (FM11)
  3. This is a very interesting challenge - here is quite an attacking 4-2-2-2 tactic (classic, not creator) which I have used with quite a bit of success, although it does tend to also leak quite a few goals - would be interested to see how it goes: 4-2-2-2 Attacking: http://www.mediafire.com/?ll67ey4l82zm4ib

FM11 - Sutton United FC 2015/16 Season Update - Blue Square Bet Premier - Marky Mark! 2011/12 - BSS, 1st, FA Trophy 2nd Round, BSS Champions! 2012/13 - BSP, 2nd, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 4th Round, Lost in BSP Playoff Final 2013/14 - BSP, 14th, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 1st Round 2014/15 - BSP, 16th, FA Cup 2nd Round, FA Trophy Winners! 2015/16 - BSP, 2nd, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 1st Round, Promotion! 2016/17 - League Two, FA Cup 1st Round, Carling Cup 1st Round, JPT South 1st Round 46 Pld, 6 Won, 8 Drn, 32 Lst, 35 For, 103 Ag, -68 GD, 26 Pts League / Domestic Cups I knew League 2 was going to be tough, but after a couple of wins early in the season, the team managed to go an incredible 22 games without winning, and relegation was never really in doubt, with the side finishing in 24th place, only 3 points away from 23rd place, but a massive 20 points from safety. 2017 League Table and Graph Star Players Fan's Player of the Year - Simon Whaley Due to regular fan favorite Nicholas being injured for large parts of the season, this award went to 31 year old winger Whaley, who probably isn't the best player in the squad, but still managed 7 goals, 9 assists and 3 MoM from 50 appearances at 6.56 - not great reading, but sadly he was the top scorer for the side Most Promising U18 Player - Jordan Williams This 18 year old striker was picked out by my assistant manager last season as the pick of the bunch, and for once I think he was on to a winner - although given his potential is only for 'a decent League Two player', I'll have to see how he improves next season. 2017 Seasonal Best XI and Overall Best XI Finances / Facilities Whilst this season was a failure on the field, it was actually quite a success off the field. First, the board finally agreed to go Professional at the start of the season. Then, after a couple of big cup games against League 1 teams, and the Premier League solidarity payment of $250k, I managed to get my finances over $500k, enough for the board to approve the construction of a Youth Academy! By the end of the season the balance was back down to $290k, but by then the board had already begun construction on the academy, and it was too late to cancel it! 2017 Finances Pitch Conditions: Very Poor Training Facilities: Adequate Youth Facilities: Basic Youth Recruitment: Basic So, whilst relegation from League 2 wasn't a complete surprise, it was still disappointing, and I'm hoping to bounce back up next season, hopefully with a batch of promising youngsters out of my soon to be constructed youth academy! 2017 New Club Records Highest League Position: 24th in League Two Average Attendance: 2,363 Most Games Lost in Row: 8 - 31.12.2016 to 11.2.2017 Most Games Without Winning: 22 - 28.12.2016 to 29.4.2017 Most Games Without Scoring: 4 - 10.9.2016 to 27.9.2016 Worst Discipline: Gary White - 16 yellow cards / 2 red cards Most League Apps for Club: Kevin Scriven - 316 Most League Goals for Club: Sam Gargan - 104

After losing in the playoff final 3 years ago, I was very wary this time around, and Macclesfield probably played the better football on the day, managing 13 shots to 5, but they could only manage 1 on target compared to our 4, and somehow, I walked away with a 3-0 win and promotion to the Football League! 2016 Playoff Final Star Players Fan's Player of the Year - Oliver Nicholas No surprises here, the 24 year old Eritrean central defender has now taken out this award 3 times in the past 4 years, and is still by far the best member of the squad. Whilst he still has a lot of low attributes, all of his key defensive attributes are now in double digits, which is more than any other defender in the side can say. Managing 5 goals and 5 assists from 47 appearances at 7.29, he was once again the only member of the squad to average over 7. Most Promising U18 Player - 18 year old central defender Gonsalves didn't manage a league start this season, but did make 14 substitute league appearances and 3 cup appearances at 6.73 - whilst not amazing reading, I expect to see more from him in the future. 2016 Seasonal Best XI and Overall Best XI Finances / Facilities After pretty much breaking even each month, I managed to make a $250k profit in May due to the playoff final, which saw my total bank balance shoot up past $400k for the first time ever - still not enough to improve any of my facilities, but with the riches of League 2 next season, hopefully that will change. 2016 Finances Pitch Conditions: Very Poor Training Facilities: Adequate Youth Facilities: Basic Youth Recruitment: Basic So there you have it, after two very mediocre seasons in the BSP, I have somehow managed to pull it all together this season for promotion! Seems like playing my youth players the last few seasons is starting to pay off, although I think it will be an uphill struggle next season in League 2. 2016 New Club Records Average Attendance: 2,355 Biggest Defeat: 1 - 7 v Dover (A) Blue Square Bet Premier 8.3.2016 Most League Apps for Club: Kevin Scriven - 270 Most League Goals for Club: Sam Gargan - 98 Oldest Player: Uriel Trustfull - 38 years 11 days (v Mansfield (A) Blue Square Bet Premier 14.11.2015)

First Name: Marky Second Name: Mark Nationality: Portuguese Position: ST 2 PPM: Marks Opponent Tightly, Stays back at all times 3 Attributes at 20: Tackling, Marking, Positioning Height: 150cm Weight: 80kg Preferred Foot: Right I like starting the players in Northern Ireland, whilst the players are obviously way too good for this league, it will be interesting to see how much of a difference 1 player can make to the team's overall performance. Also, as you may have noted, I have picked a striker, but with defensive attributes and PPM - simply curious as to how that will effect him.
  8. FM11 - Sutton United FC 2014/15 Season Update - Blue Square Bet Premier - Marky Mark! 2011/12 - BSS, 1st, FA Trophy 2nd Round, BSS Champions! 2012/13 - BSP, 2nd, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 4th Round, Lost in BSP Playoff Final 2013/14 - BSP, 14th, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 1st Round 2014/15 - BSP, 16th, FA Cup 2nd Round, FA Trophy Winners! 46 Pld, 15 Won, 16 Drn, 15 Lst, 56 For, 75 Ag, -19 GD, 61 Pts League / Domestic Cups My 3rd season in the BSP was another struggle, and by Christmas I had dropped into the relegation zone, which was a real worry! I managed to pick up the form a bit in the second half of the season, and even get some game time into some of my 19-20 year olds, but finished up a disappointing 16th, my lowest finish in the BSP yet! 2015 League Table and Graph However, there was on highlight this season, and that is the team's performance in the FA Trophy where, after 2 replays, and a penalty shootout win in the semi final, I made the FA Trophy final against Gainsborough, who were 17th in the BSP. The final was a close game, but my boys finally managed to find some form, and in front of 22,263 people, they won 3-1 to take home the FA Trophy! 2015 FA Trophy Final Star Players Fan's Player of the Year - Oliver Nicholas 23 year old Eritrean defender Nicholas was once again the shining light in an otherwise ordinary squad, taking home the Fan's Player of the Year award for the 3rd time in the past 4 seasons, with 8 goals, 3 assists and 9 MoM at 7.26 from 47 appearances - the only player to average over 7 this season. He now has interest from clubs around the world, but seems happy to extend his contract each year, so I should be able to hold on to him for a while longer. Most Promising U18 Player - Paul McGowan Whilst several of my 19 and 20 year olds got quite a bit of game time, the U18s didn't get much of a look in. 18 year old striker McGowan only made one substitute appearance, however it was in the 2nd leg of the FA Trophy Semi-Final, and the young striker managed to score 2 goals in 40 minutes to keep Sutton United in the game. Whilst his attributes are nothing special, I simply have to give him a bit more game time next season given how he performed in the one opportunity I gave him this season 2015 Seasonal Best XI and Overall Best XI Finances / Facilities Despite stellar cup runs, which saw me reach the 3rd Round of the FA Cup and win the FA Trophy, the side only made a profit of $60k, to bring the total balance up to a poultry 120k - no where near what is needed to improve the facilities. I fear that the only way I'll make enough profit to improve the facilities is to earn promotion to League 2, but the only way to earn promotion to League 2 is to get decent youth players... a vicious cycle. 2015 Finances Pitch Conditions: Very Poor Training Facilities: Adequate Youth Facilities: Basic Youth Recruitment: Basic Another season of mediocrity, however I was able to give some of my younger players some game time, and expect them to challenge for a spot in the starting XI next season, so hopefully that can bring some much needed improvement to the team's performance next season! 10. FM11 - Sutton United FC 2013/14 Season Update - Blue Square Bet Premier - Marky Mark! 2011/12 - BSS, 1st, FA Trophy 2nd Round, BSS Champions! 2012/13 - BSP, 2nd, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 4th Round, Lost in BSP Playoff Final 2013/14 - BSP, 14th, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 1st Round 46 Pld, 17 Won, 12 Drn, 17 Lst, 77 For, 90 Ag, -13 GD, 63 Pts League / Domestic Cups My 2nd season in the BSP started well, with 3 wins from 4 games, but after that everything went sour, and whilst I was never in danger of entering the relegation zone, I was also never in danger of challenging for a playoff spot, and ended the season a mediocre 14th - it's safe to say my 'original' players are starting to deteriorate (with some exceptions), and my youth players are just not improving fast enough to replace them. 2014 League Table and Graph There was also nothing to note in the domestic cups, with the team being knocked out of the 1st round of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy. Star Players Fan's Player of the Year - Oliver Nicholas For the 2nd time in 3 seasons, 22 year old Eritrean defender Nicholas has picked up the Fan's Player of the Year award, and is now by far the best player in the squad, and one of the few 'original' players that has keep on improving (although at 22 you'd expect him to). Continues to have interest from other clubs, with clubs from Finland, Turkey, Spain and German all interested in him - although he still has 2 years to run on his contract, and I plan on extending that to 5. Most Promising U18 Player - Daniel Leary As per usual, the U18 squad didn't produce any gems, however 18 year old right back Daniel Leary was probably the best of a bad bunch, with good physical attributes, and even mentioned 2 senior appearances due to injury - however will need to keep improving if he wants to cement a spot in the senior squad. 2014 Seasonal Best XI and Overall Best XI Finances / Facilities No cup runs of note means the club recorded a $300k loss for the season, and the bank balance is back down to $75k - guess I'll have to wait a while longer before I can even think of improving my 'basic' youth facilities (of course I could always use the pre-season friendly exploit to get some cash, but I'd rather not unless I have to). 2014 Finances Training Facilities: Adequate Youth Facilities: Basic Youth Recruitment: Basic So, after a promising season last year, this was... not promising - in fact quite the opposite. With my original squad starting to age and decline in quality, I really need to start to find some youth players to step up if I am ever going to earn promotion into the football league - where hopefully I can start generating a profit year on year. Let's see if next season is any better. 11. FM11 - Sutton United FC 2012/13 Season Update - Blue Square Bet Premier - Marky Mark! 2011/12 - BSS, 1st, FA Trophy 2nd Round, BSS Champions! 2012/13 - BSP, 2nd, FA Cup 1st Round, FA Trophy 4th Round, Lost in BSP Playoff Final 46 Pld, 26 Won, 9 Drn, 11 Lst, 110 For, 76 Ag, +34 GD, 87 Pts League / Domestic Cups After promotion from the BSS last season in my first attempt I was expecting the worst this season, but it seems I had nothing to worry about, as I was in the top 5 for virtually the whole season, and ended up spending most of the 2nd half of the season in 2nd place, with a comfortable gap from 3rd place, but never quite able to catch first place Wrexham, who ended up running away with the league. That said, I was confident heading into the Playoffs, with the Semis putting me up against 5th placed Aldershot, who I beat 3 times already this season. Surprisingly, I was convincingly outplayed in the away leg, but still managed to walk away with a respectable 2-2 draw. I had a lot more of the ball in the home leg, but both team failed to score in 90 minutes. I manged to get ahead in the 91st minute, but then Aldershot equalised in the 101st minute, so it came down to penalties, which thankfully I won - and was now one game away from consecutive promotions. The Playoff Final saw me up against 4th placed Cheltenham, who I beat 7-2 a month ago, and I was feeling good about my chances. However, the game did not go to plan, with Cheltenham dominating the match, and running away deserving 2-1 winners, condemning Sutton Utd to another season in the BSP. Despite being the 2nd best side all season, sadly the side couldn't perform when it counted. 2013 League Table and Graph BSP Playoff Final Star Players With my inherited side blitzing the BSS, I decided to go with an unchanged lineup this season (meaning my U18 players again got minimal game time), but two of my inherited players in particular stood out: BSP Top Goalscorer / Shortlisted for BSP Player of the Season / Fan Player of the Season - Martin Reilly Whilst 26 year old striker Reilly doesn't have amazing attributes, he just manges to score goals and consistently outscoring his fellow striker. With 37 goals and 14 assists at 7.38 from 53 games, he now holds the record for most league goals for the club with 61 goals. My player of the Season - Oliver Nicholas The 21 year old central defender and Eritrea captain keeps on improving, and in my opinion is the best player in the team - if he can keep improving then I'm confident that the team can continue to perform well. Managed 6 goals and 3 assists at 7.16 from 48 appearances, as well as 5 international appearances for minnows Eritrea. Unfortunatly, there are now a couple of clubs interested in him, and I have received my first offer, but with 4 years to go on his contract, I'm not too worried yet. Best U18 Player - Gary White Once again, due to the performances of my initial squad, I didn't give my U18 players much of an opportunity, and 17 year old right back White was again the only U18 player to make an appearance for the senior side. His attributes are nothing flash, and neither were his match statistics - 18 games at 6.88. Sadly, my coaching staff still think he is the best U18 prospect, so I'm really hoping for a good batch of youngsters next season. 2013 Seasonal Best XI and Overall Best XI Finances Aside from the success on the field, the season was also a success off the field, with the side posting a $600k profit! Whilst this sounds good, the reality is that this profit was only made due to 2 matches - an away FA Cup match against League 1 Norwich (20,000 attendance), and the Playoff Final (38,000 attendance). 2013 Finances Despite the profit this season, the board was still not willing to upgrade the facilities, or even turn professional, prefering to remain semi-professional, although the good news is that the Chairman is looking to sell the club - here's hoping for a tycoon takeover! 12. That's actually not a bad idea, having a Hall of Fame where we can talk up our youth products - although sadly I haven't had any youths of note yet
  13. I personally don't play that way (in fact, I let my assistant manager arrange all my friendlies), but each to their own - there's nothing explicitly stated in the rules about it. Another thing I do, to add an extra challenge (something that was in the rules, but has been dropped this year) is not hire any external staff either, but rather try and move my existing players onto staff contracts at the end of their playing career (currently I have 1 player/assistant manager, 1 coach, and no physio!). Does anyone else do this or any other 'optional' challenges?
  14. FM11 - Sutton United FC 2011/12 Season Update - Blue Square Bet South - Marky Mark! 2011/12 - BSS, 1st, FA Trophy 2nd Round, BSS Champions! 42 Pld, 24 Won, 12 Drn, 6 Lst, 94 For, 50 Ag, +44 GD, 84 Pts League / Domestic Cups After having managed a paper thin Truro squad which constantly required top-ups from the U18 side, I was blown away with the depth of the Sutton United squad, with plenty of players in every position (except for GK, which was very weak), and they even had 3 current international players (from the might nations of Eritrea (182nd), Suriname (128th), and Gambia (118th)). With this squad, I entered the season hoping for promotion at the first attempt, and that's exactly what happened, clinching the title with one game to go! 2012 League Table and Graph Despite the good form in the league, this didn't equate to good cup runs, being knocked out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle and only reaching the 2nd Round of the FA Trophy Star Players BSS Player of the Season - Simon Whaley Of the 3 Sutton Utd players nominated for BSS Player of the season, I thought that 27 year old winger Whaley was the least worthy winner, but that said, his physical and technical attributes are amazing for this level. At 27 he is one of the older players in the starting XI, but should have a few good years left before he needs replacing Fan's Player of the Season - Oliver Nicholas This 20 year old Eritrean central defender, a product of the Arsenal youth system, was also nominated for BSS Player of the Season, and in my opinion was the best player in the squad, which at 20 years old is quite an achievement. Not only that, but he has already been called up for Eritrea, and despite only playing 1 game has been made captain. He has great physical attributes for a 20 year old, and his average rating of 7.43 was a new club record. Top Goalscorer - Martin Reilly The third player to be nominated for BSS Player of the Season, this 25 year old Irish striker is probably not in the same league as the top two players, but still too good for the BSS, and with 25 goals and 13 assists from 44 appearances at 7.16, he was by far Sutton's top goalscorer. Best U18 Player - Gary White Unlike my experience with Truro where I was forced to blood a host of U18 players, due to the depth of the squad I inherited I wasn't made to play any U18 players, and therefore 16 year old right back Gary White was the only U18 player to make an appearance for the senior team, and the 2 appearances he did make were the last two games of the season, when the title race was over. Whilst his current attributes aren't anything flash, my coach thinks he has the potential to be a good BSP right back, so let's see what happens. 2012 Seasonal Best XI Finances Despite being $4k under my $9k / week wage budget, I still managed to post a $250k loss, but with any luck I should be able to recoup that in the BSP next season! 2012 Finances Training Facilities: Adequate Youth Facilities: Basic Youth Recruitment: Basic Despite inheriting quite a talented squad, I was still very glad to take out the BSS title and avoid the pain of having to go through the playoffs, but next season will be the real test - my next batch of youth players aren't setting the world on fire, so I will be looking for more improvement from my inherited squad that did so well this season.
  15. Wow, amazing stats for a 15 year old!
