What type of laptop I need for FM2010 ?

Recommended Posts

What laptop would people reccomend that will be good enough for FM2010, I know that no one knows the specs for FM2010 but if someone could make a suggestion that would be greatly appreciated also if anyone know any good places to get a laptop other then the obvious places I.e eBay, pc world etc

Well it was said that FM10 is a "polish" of FM9 so I suppose probably close to what you've got right now.

Unless the address the problem of it eating resources then perhaps a better computer is in order.

You just listed two of the worst places to buy laptops :)

I'd go for Pc Specialist, but I have never bought a laptop, so maybe some people on here know more about it.

SI have always been good enough to make their games use as low-spec machines as possible, thank God. FM07 only needed a little more (if any) than FM06. FM08 only needed a little more than FM07. The only reason FM09 was a bigger jump than usual was because of the addition of 3D, but even at that, my modestly powerful Laptop runs FM09 just fine and I'm confident that FM10 will work just dandy

RAM is all-important. If you have oodles of RAM, you're sorted

How? What good is ram if you have a POS processor. and you can always use something like Gamebooster if your a little short of ram. Also a processor is an expensive upgrade while Ram is getting much much cheaper these days.

I was assuming most people will have a decent processor already. Mine is only an Intel 1.87GHz dual-core processor, which is hardly state of the art.

Just got one a couple of weeks ago from amazon, also would recommend dabs. I too am wondering about specs as my FM playing means I need a much better one then any of my family and with cost in mind I had to go for just 2Ghz which is the minimum for 09 on vista (though might downgrade to xp to be on the safe side). RAM-a-plenty though, and operating system doesn't seem to matter for speed as FM goes much faster then on my old one despite the OS upgrade meaning there's no leeway in processor requirements where I had a little left on my old one.

I got my laptop from Littlewoods, it cost about £70 more than it should but it was £38 a month, it is made for gaming and video editing, its an Acer something, it has a graphics card made for Visual, which is good for 3D and it had 4gb ddr ram so thats good for loading

Is this laptop good enough? And for how many leagues?;

2.10 Intel Core Duo

3GB RAM

All leagues from England, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Holland, Scotland, Portugal quite comfortably.

No need for the likes of Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Wales etc. as those leagues are rubbish anyway.

Reckon you can get a laptop for under £300 that will run it perfectly?

Hmmm... you might get one FOR £300, just keep a lookout for deals. As long as it has a decent processor (approaching 2GHz) and 1Gb RAM (or over) it should work.

I'm a graphic designer so I use pretty hefty software.

I bought my laptop from Dell Outlet store.

I think I did well for €750.

4gb Ram

2.4ghz dual core processor

256mb graphics card

1900 x 1200 res

blu-ray player/dvd/cd burner

Pretty good.

My brother bought a Mac Book Pro from the Apple Outlet Store. And that cost him about €1,500, but he has pretty much the same specs as I do.

There are bargains out there. I spent 3 months looking for my laptop.

Just for the record: I play FM09 without hassle on a 1.6 Core 2 Duo, 3GB Ram, Windows 7 RC, and an Intel X3100 integrated graphics.

If you get a laptop with similar specs, maybe the processor now around 2 Ghz and the successor of the X3100, you should be fine. If budget allows, go for something reasonable with Nvidia or ATI.

I had planned to go (and hopefulyl enjoy) see Ballymena on Saturday, you've killed that dream. Thanks for nothing.

I live in Coleraine in Northern Ireland - have tried to get into my local football but it's just awful. I mean it. Awful. I think the problem is that I support Liverpool and grew up watching matches at Anfield, Old Trafford, Highbury, Wembley etc etc.. Then I went to my first live TOP FLIGHT match at Glenavon (versus Linfield), stood in a freezing Cow Shed with about 5 or 6 other fans, watching football so bad I checked to make sure I was actually at a football match and not a rugby match. Put me right off :D

I have bought Medion before and they make good reliable stuff. I dont kno how much your willing to spend but that laptop is top quality. 4 GB Ram, 320 GB Hard disk, plus a Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T6500 (2,10 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, FSB 800 MHz). £500 for that is fantastic though not if your not willing to spend that much :D but do look out for Medion becouse they make good stuff, afterall they are German

Like hearing this being a Teuton/Kraut.

But have to admit, English folks are better in making quality football management games. hehe.

What Laptop magazine this month tested four £299 laptops. Top was the Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 with its balanced range of decent features. 2.16hz Celeron & 1 Gig RAM. 160 Gb HDD. Intel 4500 on board graphics. Over 3 hours battery life. That's the lowest spec in the L300 range but there are others with better processors, more Ram and bigger hard drive for under £400 like this Intel dual core (older type) one at Laptops Direct.

And the Lenovo N500 range is very highly rated and this model is probably one of the cheapest quality laptops you can get with an Intel Core 2 Duo chip - £420. Core 2 Duo 6400, 3 Gb RAM, 320 GB HDD. Intel 4500 graphics.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but does anyone know what the go is with Vista or Windows 7 is for FM09 or FM10 if I get a new laptop?

I think I read that Vista 32-bit limits the amount of memory to 4gb, even if you have more?

Will FM10 run on Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit? If not, there's probably no point upgrading as my laptop, albeit a bit slow, already has 2 gigs of ram.

I am really struggling to find a laptop. I have got a budget of about 350-400max. Was looking at the fujitsu siemens amilo pa 3553 which was perfect but the battery life of of 1 hour 3/4 put me off. I would be so grateful if someone could be find me a similar laptop for a similar price with a good integrated graphics card but a better battery life. Thanks.

Upgrade to Windows 7 ASAP, it's so much better than Vista.

I've pre-ordered this so I might wait until its arrived before I get FM.

Thought it wasn't out yet, plus I might need more power just as for some reason the requirements are greater for Vista then XP and I'm on the boundary of that at the mo.

Its not. It will be available about a week or so before the release of FM iirc. The version that a lot of people have is the release candidate which, even though it works fine, is not much more than a demo of how the full version will be but this is no longer available to download so you'll have to wait until October anyway.
